Refinery Explosion and pre-ONT [Purp]
— Open Blogger

There's been a refinery explosion Michigan. Since Michigan is a Democrat state, obviously sequester cuts were to blame.

[UPDATE]
Bonus 9/11 conspiracy theory:

The 9/11 plane landing gear remains may have been placed intentionally...lowered by rope.

"The odds of it entering that space at exactly that angle that would permit it to squeeze in there ... it had to come in at almost precisely the right angle," says a police spokesman, per the New York Times. Investigators are considering the possibility that it was deliberately stuck in the spot, CNN reports.
CNN goes on to state the prime suspects for the planted evidence are C.H.U.D. and Zombies living in the NYC sewers

29 Well, there was an explosion across the road from my cell in the monastery this afternoon, but no sirens. Might have been a potential terrorist testing a new bomb design.

Or might have been the neighbor, but they usually make more than one boom when they go boom. It was a nice afternoon for booms, so there's that.

While the noise was impressive, what was really impressive was that, when you were standing back to the side, the blast would whip your pant cuffs around your ankles.

86 Shift the narrative:

These disasters could easily be blamed on the fact that businesses increasinly have to worry about adhering to government regulations that make no sense, instead of focusing on the business of running a business. Could use that down in Texas too. Doesn't matter if its true, but it cuts to the heart like liberal arguments always do. Well, shouldn't we really do something to let these businesses get back to work?, sounds a lot better to me than We need new safety watchdogs to make sure these companies are adhering strictly to our regulations, because that is the argument they will make.

You can also try the story line that because of the poor economy businesses are skimping on maintenance and safety. Another reason for more stimulus, see? It's a safety issue when business doesn't have enough profit to maintain or operate safely.

Just ignore the extremists demanding that greedy profitable business should have their taxes raised because they have too much profit. Unless you want to make the case that evil capitalists can't operate a business safely, and they exploit workers, and over charge customers so Obama has to take over like he did for GM. He didn't want to, doesn't want to run a business but someone has to, and do it right, you see.

OK, how many people have already lectured us on how these things happen all the time and it was just an accident?

Because I am getting a bit tired of all the "accidents" that keep happening, being initially covered, and then disappearing into the "nothing to see here, move along" file.

p.s. Trust me I know refinery explosions happen and they are usually an accident. The refinery in Anacortes likes to explode every so often just to let everyone know it is still there.

Chael is also a open Republican. He also got convicted for real estate fraud. And did steroids. The Left has tried to destroy Chael lately by calling him a racist for saying mean things about black fighters. Reality is Chael talked his way into two title fights by trash talking the champions -- both of whom were black. But Chael is on the rise as a talking head -- he already hosts a UFC show and Fox wants to hire him full time once his fighting career is over. Left is trying to destroy him before that with the racism accusation. So Chael has been super nice to Jones for this fight. Which has been boring. Prelims on FX now.

I like Clara though Anna. This season started off seeming like it was going to go back to some of the lighter one episode story lines (other than wondering why Clara keeps re-appearing). I'm just glad they've backed off the over the top horror. But, yeah, we stopped watching it last year and decided to give this season a try only because we liked the snowman one and the first one with Clara.

And why in blue blazes would aliens take over Earth?  If they see Earth as a possible future threat, drop a large rock on the place.  Wait a century and colonize.  Besides there was already Earth:Final Conflict and Space Above and Beyond not to mention Heinlein's Starship Troopers.

262 I am not wearing mascara until the tree pollen quits sticking to it along about late May.  I got tired of putting it on only to have my eyes gunk up about 2 hours later.

For the morons,  here are the types of clothing women must keep track of:
Formal (ball gowns)
Cocktail dressy (shorter black sparkly type dresses)
Dressy (church) Nice dresses or suits suitable for church and day weddings
Professional (tailored suits suitable  for business wear, can be suits or pants)
Casual dressy (nice slacks with a sweater, polo, or blouse)
Casual (khakis or nice jeans or bermudas with a tee shirt)
Really casual (jeans or cut-offs with a t-shirt which may or may not have a picture or writing)

NOW, each of these categories of clothing also are grouped seasonally (fall, winter, spring, summer PLUS "transitional" which is late summer when you wear dark clothing and "resort" which are clothes worn on tropical cruises in the winter).  So if you have a wool sweater you would not ear it with summer slacks.

AND you have to have shoes and purses for each season and category.  I have summer shoes which are only worn with capris or Bermudas but never to church,  for example.

I felt you guys should know the travails we endure just tolook presentable.  You're welcome.

281 #267  EC,  that is exactly right.  I cnnot tell you how many discussions I have had with my husband because there is one more category I forgot to mention:

Couples must match in season and level of formality.

NOTHING gets me grumpier than to get ready to go somewhere in a dress and then my husband comes out in jeans!  OR, I put on jeans and a t-shirt and then he comes out in dress slacks and a button-down shirt.

328 This is a thread-jack!!!!!

I picked up a Umarex MP5 A5 a few days ago.  It's the .22LR version of the classic H and K MP5 made famous by the SAS.  I figure it's the closest I'm going to get to the real thing and it's a fun way to teach EC Jr how to shoot.  I think I'll spice it up with a rail mount, micro red dot sight, and a K-grip up front.  Also, maybe get a nice Pelican hard case with the foam inserts cut out to match the weapon and gear silhouettes like you see in the spy movies.  That would be a pretty bad ass set up.

Did it work?

378 Posted by: Tammy al-Thor at April 27, 2013 09:08 PM (U5uTP) Tammy- I love heels and tried a pair of low shoes someone in my office gave me and they felt okay for the half day I wore them. I only wanted low shoes because I had fractured my tailbone. When I wore the low shoes all day long I ended up with painful leg cramps. I don't want you to have same problem of being off your usual stance. You should wear ballet shoes, they look good with capris. Or any other low shoe that isn't goofy looking. The pair the woman I work with gave me a pair that looked like black sneakers with a zipper, they were ugly.

387 I suppose that the rope could be from something that was tied down in the cargo hold. Upon impact with one of the Towers,  everything in the plane  was pretty much making new acquaintances. From an "odds" perspective, it is just as reasonable/likely, if we accommodate the physics of the situation,  that the junk would end up where it was found as it is to have landed in any other location.  On the other hand, someone cleaning off the roof at a later date might have used a block and tackle to yank that very heavy piece across the roof  of the building and  over the parapet and  then  let it drop into the gap in order to avoid the expense of a crane to lift it down. Depending upon luck and the passage of time, there might be very little wall scraping. My money is on some cheap-o dropping the junk off of the roof.

425 Regardless the cause, refinery explosions end up a workaround many green extremist EPA rules so that aging refineries can rebuild and refurbished under grandfather clauses.

Seems like if the EPA relaxed it's nonsense greentremist refinery rules, there would be fewer of these refinery 'events', more refineries, and cheaper gas for all.

Posted by: drfredc at April 27, 2013 10:04 PM (y9L1G)

426 Yep. If it's a Democrat-dominated state, then the cuts in the sequester (cuts to a refinery? What?) caused the explosion. If it's a Republican-dominated state, then it is the lack of sufficient federal regulations that caused the explosion. Michigan is a Democrat-leaning state with a Republican governor (elected in part because the last Democrat governor, Dem star Jennifer Granholm, was a massive disaster). So of course any explosion in Michigan is caused by sequester-caused reductions in regulatory action.
