Report Grand Jury Investigating Robert Menendez
— DrewM

Ben had this in his link dump but it's worth its own post for celebratory informational purposes.

Alas, it's not the underage hookers but the more garden variety, as Joe Biden might say, corruption charges.

A federal grand jury in Miami is investigating Sen. Robert Menendez (D-N.J.), examining his role in advocating for the business interests of a wealthy donor and friend, according to three people aware of the probe.

Menendez has intervened in matters affecting the financial interests of Florida ophthalmologist Salomon Melgen, seeking to apply pressure on the Dominican government to honor a contract with MelgenÂ’s port-security company, documents and interviews show. Also, MenendezÂ’s office has acknowledged he interceded with federal health-care officials after they said that Melgen had overbilled the U.S. government for care at his clinic.

...

As part of the grand jury investigation, the three people said, federal agents have questioned witnesses about the interactions between Menendez and Melgen, who contributed $700,000 last year to Menendez and other Senate Democrats. The grand jury has also issued subpoenas for Melgen’s business and financial records, according to two people briefed on the probe who, like the others, spoke on the condition of anonymity to describe an ongoing investigation.

Federal agents have not contacted Menendez, according to a person familiar with the case.

A corrupt politician from New Jersey? How is that possible?

BTW- Because Democrats are all about ethics, Menendez is still the chairman of the, er, Foreign Relations committee.

Blogger's major claim to fame is integration with Google and AdSense.

that's about it.  I'm fairly certain it's inferior in almost every way.  I'd only use it myself because I already have one on ice.

Wordpress is not without problems though, but nothing is.

I think wordpress integrates into Disqus now as well with just a few button clicks.  If so I suggest going with that. It makes commenting a breeze. (Users can choose whatever profile they want.)

I'm also to understand that if you ever hit it big, wordpress makes it easier to move to private digs later on.

Assuming this isn't sarcasm, long long ago someone (Average Joe, right?) totally fucked and crashed the platform, and as part of the repair work (this is all rather mysterious to a luddite like me) the features you see in the text window above -- i.e. the buttons for bold, italics, strikethrough, etc. -- were disabled.

193 VA wait times mean some die before getting care By Patricia Kime - Staff writer Posted : Friday Mar 15, 2013 10:47:08 EDT Internal Veterans Affairs Department documents show that at least two veterans died last year waiting to see a doctor while others couldnÂ’t get primary care appointments for up to eight months, members of a House oversight and investigations panel said Thursday. Sounds OK to me?

I don't know the answer. And the Moronette who submitted the photo is curiously unresponsive.

She's toying with us......

196 I'm figuring when the bill goes down and the demand bubble pops the glut should result in some really sweet deals. I'll load up then, before round 2.

200 Yahoo news says that little Chelsea and her hubby have bought a 10.5 million dollar mansion. Struggling newlyweds.

201 All our problems began when we started to entertain these fringe kooks and their ideas. Back in the olden days they would've been ignored. But the Left forced these fringe-types into the mainstream, thus we now have these "wedge" issues doing exactly what they were designed to do.

202 >>>Great, you know what kind of riffraff is going to start showing up round here?

This place is reeeeeeallly good at weeding out the weak, stupid, and trollish.  I'm not worried.

Actually, it's something worth genuinely celebrating: despite the extremely light (practically non-existent) content moderation and a very high blog-profile, AoSHQ has remained remarkably good at 'self-regulation' and maintenance of quality commenting over the years.  It'll never be *quite* like it was in those great 'golden years' of 2003-2005, when we were still a little bit more low-key and a tighter community, but it's still pretty awesome how we've kept the same essential spirit going.

Hopefully.

I'm keeping my eyes peeled for the tier 1 manufacturer AR  getting sold for $500 once Panicky Peter realizes he can't make his house note.
