Revealed: Number of Persons Enrolled In Obamacare on First Day? Six

Frankly, I'm surprised it's not zero.

And I still expect it to have actually been zero -- because I'm sure that there were glitches on the back end, actually communicating with insurers.

But here is why our Secretive, Lying Nixonian President denied the American public information they have a right to -- because it exposed him as the incompetent he is, of course.

For 31 days now, the Obama administration has been telling us that Americans by the millions are visiting the new health insurance website, despite all its problems.
But no one in the administration has been willing to tell us how many policies have been purchased, and this may be the reason: CBS News has learned the number is very small.
Early enrollment figures are contained in notes from twice-a-day "war room" meetings convened within the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services after the website failed on Oct. 1. They were turned over in response to a document request from the House Oversight Committee.
The website launched on a Tuesday. Publicly, the government said there were 4.7 million unique visits in the first 24 hours. But at a meeting Wednesday morning, the war room notes say "six enrollments have occurred so far."

The next day was a huge day for them -- they got less than 250 enrollments.

In order to meet their goals, they have to enroll 39,000 people per day up to March 1st.

Obamacare/Healthcare.gov attempted to reshape 20% of the U.S. economy in under 3 years. Amazon.com took 19 years to get to a position of being able to offer goods and services equaling 0.4% of the entire U.S. economy. You don't have to be a tech nerd to know that attempting to build the world's largest e-commerce portal linking together numerous databases across 50 states and various insurance companies would be complicated and likely take a little longer than 3 years to develop. I'm sure when Amazon or anyone else acquires a company the size of the healthcare market of Kansas it takes them longer than a year or 2 to get them up and operating on the same eCommerce platform / ERP system of the parent company. How the shit did these clowns think they were going to build this platform for all 50 states from scratch in less than 3 years.

Not defending anyone, but I am attempting to put the responsibility where is should lie. Key word: attempting. Should it be with these contractors? With the procurement folks? During the Gulf War, our troops were getting their asses kicked because our technology in the early days wasn't up to protecting them from unconventional combat methods. Clearly contractors were failing the troops (the government doesn't make it's own battle gear). Of course, those in command didn't step down. They did however, receive the brunt of criticism. And so it goes. It's satisfying to lambast the opposition. But what takes real courage is to look in the mirror, own what we see, then do something about the real problem: the system that requires goofy fixes such as the ACA. Fixes even the authors agree won't solve the healthcare problem in the long run.

Having thought deeply upon the issue - I asked my liberal friend who went on and on about insurance - why didn't they explore treating the uninsured somewhat like the "high risk motorist" pool.

Let people shop competitivelty for their insurance, and the high risk types (pre-existing conditions, no insurance, et cetera) go into a plan that's specific to them. Should their circumstance change, they could opt-out of the high-risk pool and buy their own, presumably better, plan.

He told me to just shut up. It was a law.

If buying a car with such a transmission, ask them to put it in writing what "lifetime" means. Your lifetime? That of the car? Or if it's the life of the transmission, ask them to specify in years and/or miles what that life will be. Expect them to get VERY nervous over this matter.
