— Ace People are calling this gun an "assault rifle" but I'm not sure it is; I can't tell if any weapons are actually firing multi-shot. (And even if everyone is firing single-shot, maybe they've just selected that... I don't know if this is the civilian version or the military version.)
As I'm in doubt, let's just compromise and use the neutral language of ambiguity and call it an "Assault Murder-Gun."
More speeches here.
And, per a Washington Times writer, Ted Cruz blew the crowd away. Metaphorically, he meant.

WTF?
What the NRA - and guns rights supporters in general need - is a PR effort of moms with guns, business execs with guns, minorities with guns and a few NY and Boston accents wouldn't hurt either.

And the NRA would still be smeared as fat, dumb rednecks.
So, in their face with it and energize the troops!
They hate the NRA no matter what. So I say thevideo was fine.

Yeah there's a little of that. But why perpetuate the stereotype? The left always does the opposite. They always portray themselves as sensible, middle of the road on every issue. Why can't the right ever do that?

The 2nd Amendment affirms my right to keep and bear arms.
It's also the PRIVILEGE of any citizen NOT to exercise that right.
The exercise of that PRIVILEGE cannot abridge my Constitutional RIGHT.
So perhaps, Mr Moo, you should exercise your privilege and stop blathering about the NRA.
You'll no doubt feel better.

http://www.nraam.org/special-events/ nra-ila- leadership- forum.aspx
I don't think any of the videos are online yet, but I'll talk to some of the guys in the media department and see when they will be.
As is custom, the Leadership Forum opened with the Pledge of Allegiance. The irony of the "indivisible" part in a crowd like that, meeting in a state voted "Most Likely To Secede", was not lost on a me.
Perry was great to start with. Good opening speaker, as he came out after this video to a thunderous welcome. I recognized the Larue range day video- Mark Larue had passed it around at the time and I buy all my optics mounts from Larue. The problem is he sounds so much like GWB even I was nostalgic. Was behind the podium like he owned it. Invited manufacturers and gunowners to relocate, etc. Definitely not the sleepy stutterer from his back surgery days.
Cruz was all over the stage when he spoke, and unless he had a flat-panel prompter up there I couldn't see (and I was ten rows back from the stage in the "Board of Directors" seating area using a my buddy's spare pass), he spoke without notes. Looked back at the huge American flag projected behind him, and said "This is the only way a lawyer from Houston can feel like General George Patton, but like him, I stand in front of an army." Very good speaker, very impressive now that I see him in front of a crowd. Maybe too green for '16, but he's young yet.
Ambassador Bolton of course wielded the Mustache Of Great Justice, and he has to be a lead pic for SecState for any Republican contender in '16.
This was the second NRA convention at which I'd seen Jindal (first one had been Louisville in '07), and he bobbled it a couple times even off the teleprompters. A little off his game, but he was in front of a couple thousand of his friends so he might have relaxed too much. Talked about his close friendship with Perry at several points. Possible deal made already to VP for Perry's run? Who knows.
One of the killer speakers not on the bill was Taya Kyle. Chris "American Sniper" Kyle's widow. She could have gotten up there and let her grief turn her into an antigun crusader, given in to those who mocked her husband's murder, could have folded. She didn't. Look, I spent enough time in war zones that I am a very emotionally hardened person. I could shrug off the Crucifixion if I was watching. But I tell you there wasn't a dry eye in the house when she was speaking, mine included. For her to get up there and speak openly about the existence of evil and the need to be armed in the face of it, pledging to continue Chris's work- that was probably one of the bravest things I have seen in my lifetime that did not involve actual gunfire in combat.
I can live without Santorum.
"Judge Janine" just nailed it. Made fun of herself for being a New York girl in front of a crowd in Texas, etc. Threw out large chunks of bloody red meat and the crowd soaked it up.
Asa Hutchinson was there because he'd run a committee on school security using his US Attorney and DHS background. Announced he's running for governor of Arkansas. Said the fight for liberty will be in the state capitals, so wants to do his part at that level.
And Teh Sarah! was last. Showed up in skintight black jeans, rhinestone belt, tight black UnderArmour T-shirt with the pink antlers version of their logo with "girls hunt" below it. Played her usual role. The problem with her is, she's funny and a good crowd-pleaser, MILF'ed it up some, but she's made zero effort to move on from her usual role and become a serious thinker or doer. Anyone thinking Palin '16 is probably in for a real heartbreak.
Anyway, as we filed out, emotionally drained and in need of a bathroom after almost four hours, a lot of people made comments like "Well, this was the warmup for the 2016 Republican National Convention..." and suchlike.
So are any other Morons down here in Houston for this thing?
