RT: Ukraine PM says riot situation "out of control"
— Purple Avenger

16:33 GMT:

“Things have changed. On the one hand, we aren’t exonerating the law enforcement agencies, but on the other hand, politicians who are joining the action now are dramatically radicalizing the situation. The mass character of the action became uncontrollable or rather controlled by certain political forces,”

That link is to the RT page that gets live updates.

Open revolution thread. Wading pool and creamed corn optional.

Enough with the damned cats. Its bunny time.

Carrots fear me.

87 High court ends Liberty University lawsuit over ObamaCare Published December 02, 2013FoxNews.comFacebook53 Twitter65 LinkedIn0 The Supreme Court on Monday refused to hear a challenge to ObamaCare brought by a Virginia-based Christian university, ending for now one of the biggest remaining legal fights against the health care law. The justices, in turning away the lawsuit from Liberty University and leaving in place a federal appeals court ruling dismissing it, did not comment on their decision. The decision comes less than a week after the high court agreed to hear a separate challenge from Hobby Lobby and one other company to the law's so-called contraception mandate -- the requirement on most employers to provide access to contraceptive coverage. But Liberty University's case was more expansive. The university had mounted a major challenge to the law, going after the contraception mandate but also the requirement on employers to provide coverage. Sucks

Posted by: joncelli at December 02, 2013 12:37 PM (RD7QR) ------------------------- The treaty in question wouldn't have the Ukraine join the EU. It just increased trade and travel between the EU and Ukraine. It was regarded as a first step toward an economic cooperation relationship similar to that which the Norwegians have with the EU. The current govt, clearly under "advice" from Putin, decided to shelve the treaty. It's better that they should be totally dependent on Mother Russia, you see.

112 A Texas prison inmate whose escape six years ago left a corrections officer dead is set for execution this week in Huntsville. Jerry Martin, 43, has ordered no more appeals filed to try to stop his scheduled lethal injection Tuesday evening. Martin and another inmate, John Falk Jr., broke away from a work detail outside the Wynne Unit prison in Huntsville in 2007, got a gun while struggling with an officer and rammed a stolen pickup truck into 59-year-old Susan Canfield before speeding off. Canfield was on horseback, was thrown from her horse and died of injuries. Both prisoners were back in custody within hours. Martin already was serving 50 years for attempted capital murder. Falk was serving life and is awaiting a retrial on his capital murder charge. http://goo.gl/rL0kYN I doubt the horse made it, either. Well, good riddance. Too bad he's not taking his partner in crime with him.

There's a difference between the EU and the Eurozone.   Joining the EU doesn't necessarily mean adopting the Euro and becoming part of that financial shithouse.   It DOES mean easier trade and travel.

Reminds me of a story:  shortly after the US entered WW2, Madame Chiang Kai-shek came to the States on a fundraising tour to aid China.  When she came to Hollywood, the studios decided to throw a banquet in her honor.  After the food had been eaten, Madam made a gracious speech thanking everyone for their contributions to the war effort.

Then Jack Warner, who headed the event, got up to speak.  As he did, studio regulars grew nervous, because Warner was known for the habit of shooting off his mouth.

Looking straight into Madame Chiang's eyes, Warner said, "Holy cow, that reminds me - I forgot to pick up my laundry!"

Yep. This was in fact a frequently advanced argument by the peacenik disarmament left against Reagan's SDI.

From the usual suspects, guys like Ted Postol at MIT. A huge stack of Postol's old claims about the sheer technological impossibility of ballistic missile defense have since been disproven in actual engineering reality, but for some reason (cough) the media still have Postol on speed dial any time that the subject comes up, ready to deliver a damning pull quote.

It's almost as though the media were liberal propagandists instead of objective journalists, but we know that can't possibly be the case. Crazy conspiracy talk.

273 I don't know how much code it takes to embed a payment system into a website, but whatever the average is, I'm going to say they'll end up quadrupling it. --- And they wonder why this fucking thing is doing DDOS attacks on itself... We've had far smaller systems at our office crash into a brick wall because a small change couldn't handle 50 operators keying images at the same time due to the increased system resources needed. And these were MINOR changes to our code that we ended up rolling back.

278 Please, too, to be considering this: Half a billion lines of code, and they're still building it. 283 someone on a news show earlier mentioned how they were signing up for obamacare this morning and when they got to the page where they had to enter their ethnicity, they entered ethnicity and it suddenly froze. you have to enter your ethnicity to sign up for obamacare? yeah nothing about redistribution and reparations here.

284 Biden in the Ukraine, "hey  your women are real lookers heh, Can i borrow one for a while?"

Posted by: willow at December 02, 2013 09:40 AM (nqBYe)

285 I skimmed through the comments and didn't see this mentioned, so if it was, sorry in advance.

The real big deal with Ukraine and EU membership is that once the Ukraine enters the EU residents can work in any other EU country.

Nope.  The agreement isn't to formally join the EU as a member state, it's just a free trade agreement.

The Russians are threatening trade sanctions if Ukraine signs the EU agreement, and it's not an empty threat considering they previously shut off natural gas shipments the last time Ukraine got too cozy with the West.

There's also the matter of an imprisoned political rival- the EU wants her either freed or at least be allowed to travel for medical treatment.  The current President views her as a threat in the next election.

The current President- if not a Russian puppet- has traditionally been supported by Moscow, with much of his political support from the pro-Russian Eastern part of the country.

I'm sure she's a very nice girl--- but couldn't someone tell her how to dress in a way appropriate to the occasion? Or maybe it's all a metaphor for how far we have sunk, how meaningless the whole concept of restraint, propriety and "good taste" have become.
