— Ace As Allah points out a lot, Rubio has lost so much standing with his Amnesty Follies that he's required to be More Catholic Than the Pope on every other issue.
Still, this is very helpful. The media has spent some time elevating Rubio because of his willingness to shill for amnesty. We might as well use that media-created cachet for our own purposes.
“[T]here has to be some point at which we say, ‘Look, this is the issue where we draw the line,’” Rubio said. “I mean, on this issue we’re willing to fight no matter what the consequences, politically or otherwise. If that issue is not Obamacare, I can’t understand what issue it would be. And that’s the point I tried to make — of all the issues out there, if there was one issue that we should be willing to go to the limit on, this is it. I mean, you look at the impact this thing is going to have October 1 on every aspect of our economy. There’s literally not one aspect of our economy that is not negatively affected by Obamacare. And if that’s not an issue we’re willing to fight to the end on, I’m not sure there is such an issue that we’d be will to do that on.”Rubio argued the House has the power to pass a bill that would defund Obamacare and then send it to the Senate. If the Senate, led by the Democratic Party, chose to dismiss that bill and opt to shut down the government, the onus would be on the Senate, a point he said had not been made enough.
BTW, this has started out a Bad Blogging Day and it will continue along that track. So it's going to be quickie links today. Apologies.

I say let Rubio preach it to the Democrat choir, since they're the only ones who give a shit about his opinion anymore. It's a win/win in my book. I don't have to pay attention to the turncoat, and the Dems have to try and turn our turncoat into their own turncoat. And in the end, Rubio ends up flapping in the wind.

To pick up that metaphor and run with it, what Rubio has done on amnesty is the equivalent of the Pope converting to Islam and slaughtering a huge number of Catholics at Mass with a machine gun.
Not backing this guy for anything any longer. The only backing I would propose would be to back Allen West in a primary challenge to Rubio.

I would recommend he fire a few advisors for good measure too. Hopefully he has done that.

Attention Morons, His Highness Lord Obama will be giving you some charity soon. He's giving a speech on economics at 4.
FFS. It'll be the same g-ddamn speech he's given every day of his perpetual campaign. Worthless blather.
Will he address the reasons why he's got our embassies cowering in fear in the mid-east and North Africa? No? Okay, then will he address the claim that CIA operatives were on the ground in Benghazi, and that the DOJ and State Dept have been keeping them hush hush and moving them around teh country with different names, to prevent them from talking to Congress? No? Okay, then will he address the mounting evidence that the Federal Elections Commission was also involved in the targeting of conservative groups by the IRS this past election cycle? No?
Okay then, glad we cleared that up.

Good for Rubio. ObamaCare was passed only after a manipulation of Senate rules and with no GOP support. The law was so unfinished when passed that most of it is being made up as they go along. The President ignores the law daily, as he makes up exceptions and throws out new policies never permitted under the law.
It's an unconstitutional usurpation of legislative power, not to mention an infringement of liberty.
Who the fuck cares if this battle is one we are certain to lose. If we don't fight anyway we'll never have a chance to win.
Rubio is welcome to the side of righteousness!

WTF happens if Obamacare is defunded? The regulations are still in place. Is an insurance company liable for not making the proscribed regulatory changes come Jan 1, 2014?
Can they still deny coverage, or will "must carry" kick in? What about community ratings?
What will happen to the tax code that will kick in Jan 1st? Will Obamacare tax on the wealthy still be there?
Will the IRS continue to levy penalties for non-compliance?

So Democrats don't really mind if Republicans use up all their grass-roots energy railing about Obamacare. It's already the law. What would be a problem for Democrats, and for some pro-reform Republicans, is if the GOP grassroots concentrated its fire on immigration reform. That could well mean the end of President Obama's top legislative priority for his second term.
Immigration reform won't be taken up by the House until this fall. But its future will be determined in August, in town halls around America, where Republicans will either voice real opposition to the current proposals, or signal that they will go along. The next month will tell the story.

If you "love" any politician, you're an idiot. They're fucking employees. Cogs in a machine to be used and replaced when they break down or are found to have defects. And sometimes, you have to limp along with a damaged cog because you don't have a replacement part on the shelf and the truck's not coming in until 2016.
That doesn't mean you don't keep an eye out for cracks. It means sometimes you make the best of a bad part, because that's what you're stuck with for now.

So many people say Ocare is THE final blow, that when it kicks in the die is cast, single payer is only a matter of when. Then they talk about future tactics and strategy. Huh? After THE END there is no future. There is no tactics, no strategy other than surviving Thunderdome. So why aren't more of our politicians and pundits acting like they actually believe it?
You don't worry about the long term consequences. You don't worry about bipartisanship. You don't worry about whether the NYT and Meet the Press will ever invite you back. You don't hold forces in reserve. If you are fighting the final battle you go all in, holding nothing back and damn the consequences.
So is Ocare such a battle or not. Even for us morons? Because if we don't start thinking in those terms and making darned sure we get out to the town halls going on during this recess you can bet our 'leaders' won't feel the passion.

"Investment" -- hook up the Val-U-Rite intravenous drip. You're going to hear that one more than once.
You would figure that after a trillion dollars in borrowed money having been "invested" by Ogabe in his first term with no noticeable results, that particular trope would have been beaten to death. Nope! He's doubling down!
The latest generous offer from Ogabe is that if the GOP agree to tax simplification, he will graciously agree. As long as the "simplification" sucks even more taxes out of the rapidly shrinking productive class in America. And as long as the additional tax money is Ogabe's to "invest" as he sees fit.
Wow! What a great deal _that_ is!

This is what blows my mind when I hear the chattering classes talking about how the Fed must create a tidal wave of virtual money to head off "the evils of deflation".
Oh dear! Things _might cost less_. At a time when average consumers' incomes have been kicked to the curb. We surely can't allow THAT nightmare scenario.
It's far better to have those average consumers' shrunken incomes instead be devoted to buying less stuff at artificially higher prices. So decree the chattering classes.

Not saying its a bad thing but it looks like many here have turned to single issue voters.
My single issue is not Rubio's immigration psychosis. It's that he was vocally ANTI-illegal immigration during his campaign, and promptly turned around and didn't just vote FOR illegal immigration, he actively and loudly campaigned WITH DEMOCRATS for it.
He's dead to me.

I was thinking more that the crash of SABRE was to allow them to add passengers to the manifests to get around the watch list. Or, to allow luggage to make flights that have things that they need without having the luggage get additional scrutiny. But, then again I read way too many thrillers.

Officially a helicopter carrier, but the intent is fairly clear that they intend to try the F-35B vertical landing jet aboard it.
Unfortunately, the entire F-35 program, in all variants, is turning out to be a giant inept fustercluck, and betting a naval air strategy around it is not going to end well.
If there is a naval punching match in the South China Sea in the next decade, China is going to win it so overwhelmingly it won't be funny. Not least due to sheer numbers. Quantity has a quality all its own, as Stalin said, while pitching another fifty divisions into the line.

1) You can't get a fixed rate for more than 5 years. 30-year amort, but rate is locked for only 5.
2) A 2 bedroom bungalow is going for 600K+ in some areas. Crackerbox (raciss) condos are going for 400K+ not including maintenance feeds. The "second bedroom" is often just a den with no walls, and no ability to install a door. Or it's a glorified walk-in closet.
3) Banks are giving out loans for WAY more than people can afford, at rates that will eventually skyrocket after the 5 year fixed runs out and they need to re-up.
4) Flippers are a fucking disease here. Most of them are real estate agents that collude with each other to outbid ordinary people to inflate the properties of the areas in which they live, then flip to someone with more money than brains.
Yeah, there are ethics rules, but when 50% of the eastern european immigrants run contracting businesses under the table, well, the eastern european immigrant real estate agents can claim they didn't have a stake in it, can't they?
Their experience in working within a corrupt system is serving them well.
Go by a Habitat For Humanity Re-Store in this area, and check out the brand. new. shit. ripped out of houses just because Mitzy thought the color of the newly installed granite was just one shade too dark.
But talk to any real estate agent, and you MUST remodel before you put it on the market. Higher commission for them, higher overall area prices, inflation is king!
So what if fewer people can buy starters and the decent areas are reserved for the ultra wealthy who gut or tear down perfectly good homes, or the stupid who over mortgage.
Let it burn, because it can do nothing but.

That nasty old piece of work Yasser Arafat used to give two speeches a day.
Speech #1 in the morning would be to the English-language media, in which Arafat would loudly proclaim the desire of the Palestinians for peace with Israel and their willingness to make all necessary and reasonable concessions to make that happen.
Speech #2 in the afternoon would be to the Arabic-language media, in which Arafat would say that they should disregard everything he had said that morning, and that the long range goal continued to be to push the Jews into the sea.
Rubio has been pulling the same shit.
Rubio will go on English-language television networks and say, "Of COURSE we're not talking about immediate amnesty and immediate benefits."
Then Rubio will go on Spanish-language TV and say, "Of COURSE you get immediate amnesty and immediate benefits."
A guy who lies to you repeatedly and brazenly, even if he's doing it bilingually, is still a brazen serial liar and you should have nothing to do with anything that he proposes.

More than likely the reporter for Reuters refers to Strontium-90 which has a half life of 28 years and a vast majority present in the environment is residue left over from above ground nuclear bomb tests.
And when the EPA is not terribly concerned about Cesium-134, it worries about the radioactive Cesium-137 instead.
