— Ace I actually always thought this was a bad move by Fox. Well, Sarah Palin was fine enough, as she was a commentator, but Mike Huckabee.... having his own show?
It's pretty hard to claim you're not a partisan political organization when Sunday at 8pm primetime show is Huckabee.
It's not separating the news function from advocacy sufficiently.
Eh, I suppose CNN and MSNBC do it too... but then I always take that as proof of their liberal leanings. But then, as I take CNN's fascination with Elliot Spitzer and MSNBC's fascination with Al Sharpton as signs of their naked partisan affiliation, I have to apply the same rule to Fox.
At any rate, she's leaving now that her three-year contract is up. Allah speculates she might go to Glenn Beck's nascent network; others think maybe she'll run for Senate.

The speculation was that she would challenge Begich for the AK Senate seat which Ted Stevens used to hold.
I don't know about that, but I did a quadruple facepalm when I heard that Joe Miller was possibly gearing up for a shot at Begich himself.
Yes, that's I-vehemently-denounce-federal-giveaways-while-myself-partaking-of-them Joe Miller.
Yes, that's Joe Miller as in I-lost-to-a-writein-Lisa-Morecokeski.
I really hope Alaska conservatives can do better than Miller.
And I doubt Palin's able to carry that state any longer. The ship has sailed.

Nice snark. Now explain to me how I am incorrect about this. Do you follow Alaska politics, as I do? Do you know a number of Alaska natives (who are conservatives), as I do? Do you realize that it isn't just Democrats in AK who dislike Palin, it's a substantial number of Republicans, conservatives, and a wide swath of independents?
It's not about "she's too conservative" or anything like that. It's about her history. They look at her as someone who jumped ship, who abandoned them. Quit her job to make money in the Lower 48. She doesn't even spend the majority of her time in AK anymore -- for the last year or two she's lived mostly in Arizona.
A woman with Sarah Palin's profile and views would be a formidable candidate in Alaska. But not SARAH PALIN herself. Her specific personal history is and would be a huge problem for her in that state.
I mean, she could still possibly win. Joe Miller nearly won, after all. But it would be an uphill battle in a state where it should be an easy job.
And what would we gain as a movement, ultimately? Palin -- one of the most widely hated figures in America, nationally -- would instantly be made the face of the Republican Party and the conservative movement by a media eager to destroy and discredit us forever with women and younger voters who see her as a punchline-reminder of the worst of the GOP during its wilderness years.

My point is: you can disagree with me, but disagreeing on the grounds of "I hate you! I love Sarah! Stop dogging on her!" is not a disagreement that anyone is bound to regard as anything other than emotional bleating. I've offered the reasons WHY I think she would be a poor candidate in AK (and anywhere else she would be viewed as a carpetbagger...look at how close the 2012 AZ Senate election turned out and tell me why Sarah Palin would be a 'lock' there, please). Your response is basically "well, you're a jerk!" It's not even a disagreement, or an argument on the merits. It's just ad hominem.

But for Democrats, Liberals, Progressives, RINOs, and self-misdefined Conservatives who would, once again, dump on this formidable candidate, you'd be right. Alas, the next Sarah Palin will be demonized exactly as much, so your assertion weighs just about shit. By definition a formidable "Sarah Palin" cannot exist. And righteous GOP actors will continue to see that she won't.

You know all those little boxes on a waffle. You can literally fill those with butter. A common Southern/Western (Not to be confused with southwest) tradition is to bake bacon right into your waffles.
Butter, Syrup, Bacon, Waffle...mmmmm.

turn the thing on , pour in the batter and BOOM waffles
-------------
Yeah, sounds simple.
But you can't *see* them inside...and you have to learn when to lift the top, or you will end up messing them up.
Batter that is too runny is not good...nor is batter that is too thick.
You have to play around with it for a while.

Electability is inversely proportional to the quality of the candidate.
There you have it.

No, seriously I'm glad you published. I use the nook, but we need to get thoughts out there. I sometimes wonder if publishing a Moron Horde Style Book would be possible and catch on like Freak-O-Nomics....? part of the problem is the GOP has a snark gap that is not going to be easily overcome.
Gutfeld, Beck prior to TV, Limbaugh, Steyn, Corolla, the hitters are there but we are battling ALL of Hollywood.

Dear Lord. Have O'Reilly on, and he's describing Hillary! as the new Obama in the MFM's eyes.
First black president a Democrat - Check.
Next to check off - a first female president. MOSM (Mainstream Obama Slobbering Media) are drunk on their own power and see no end to their endeavours. After that it will be the first simian president, the first canine president... The possibilities are endless.

UpinAK over at Tepid says it is mostly the city that dislikes her.
She's at he Air Base up there. Her contention seems to be that her brand is damaged not destroyed but it would take definite repair work. Seems some Alaskans are buying into the notion that the family's "antics" hurt the state's rep.
I'd say the Polar Bear strike of 1997 is more to blame.

Thanks sven,
Last I had heard Jeff B had serious health problems, so I (and others iirc) kinda laid off.
Hopefully this is a sign that that he's back healthy and we can resume dropping bowling balls on his incessant concerns.

That is an awesome dish --my mom makes it but she uses olive oil in the pan to fry the thin slices of potato first before adding the rest (in the same order that you do). It's a common dish in Greece and is often made for dinner (lunch is the "big meal" there).

I was raised to never retreat and to pick battles wisely, and all in
due season. When it comes to defending our republic, we havenÂ’t begun to
fight! But we delight in those who underestimate us.
