— CAC SANFORD WINS
Colbert-Busch (D) 45%
180/317
Colleton, with one tiny precinct, in, 70-29 Sanford
Berkeley County 33/44 in Sanford up 60-39
Beaufort 80/80 in Sanford up 53-46.5
Sanford up over ECB Charleston 50-49
In the race to fill the seat vacated by Tim Scott, South Carolina Republicans chose their disgraced former governor, Mark Sanford. On the Democratic side, sister of Stephen Colbert, Elizabeth Colbert-Busch, has attempted to capitalize on Sanford's scandals while pretending to be anything but a progressive stooge. I will be surprised if the results actually end up as close as this race has been hyped, but we'll know soon enough. Polls close at 7pm, and I will update the thread with results as we go.
Some things to watch:
Charleston. The segment of the city in CD1 broke for Romney by 7 in 2012, ECB needs to win it outright and keep the remaining counties close. If Sanford ties or leads in that, it's his.
Beaufort. ECB needs close to a tie in this county, in addition to a win in Charleston.
Well...at least PPP got the winner right. Shame they were off by at least 8.

2. If Sanford wins, it will put a crimp in the democrats constant attacks on GOP candidates through morals accusations.

For me, Sanford is hard not to like.
But it doesn't matter. All I care about, all I ever care about, is defeating Democrats.
Sanford, for all his faults, is a far better person than Elizabeth Busch.
Sanford doesn't hate me or hate what I stand for; Ms. Busch does.
Sanford, unlike Rubio, never broke the Cardinal Rule: he never took sides against me and stood with the Democrats.

Where do people get this idea that voting is some sort of act of sanctification?
That somehow some candidate has to be "worthy of my vote" or that if you "vote for an immoral person" you'll be personally tarnished.
You're not marrying this person, you are hiring them to do a job. You might think Sanford is too flaky for the job, fair enough, but there is this weird morality that conservatives place on their vote.

So we can say that the voters found Sanford, even with his reprehensible personal baggage, a better candidate than the others.
Maybe it's because they are sure how he votes. Maybe it's because the others weren't good candidates. Whatever.

Read the book "Dereliction of Duty" by Retired USAF Lt.Col. Robert "Buzz" Patterson. He was a military aide to Clinton from '96-'98 and was one of 5 people who carried the nuclear football. His job gave him close access to Clinton.
Very interesting and disturbing book on the Clinton years and how reckless this guy was with our national security and everything else. You also get to read details of his skirt chasing and parties at the WH whenever Hillarity would leave town. One account is about Slick hitting on and groping a USAF female aide assigned to AF1. While in flight Slick tried to get 'hooked up' with her and she went to Patterson to complain.

Wait, I thought all libs were manufactured in some evil laboratories in CA and NYC...where the hell did the CA libs come from?
The proximate source was the Northeast (primarily NY, NJ, MA, CT), with some Chicagoans thrown in. CA used to be as conservative as AZ or UT are today. When the population here exploded we got infested with liberals. Victor Davis Hanson types were out, Barbara Boxer (from NY) and Nancy Pelosi (MD) were in.
So that was the proximate source. The ultimate source is Beelzebub.

We're sorry, but it appears that Sanford is winning, which means there MUST be election fraud going on, so we are freezing the election, and taking all election material and ballots to Washington.
We will get to the bottom of this blatant fraud.

Heh, but seriously, you are correct. 2012 still stings.
We could, using hindsight, optimize this or that -- Rubio-for-Ryan, clean up the convention, change ad buying strategy, etc -- but in toto the game was rigged.
The recent Benghazi revelations just exemplify this. Romney's line-of-attack died the moment that beach whale of a debate moderator incorrectly called Obama as truthful on calling it "terror" -- a small and insignificant point in and of itself when 4 Americans and our Ambassador were just assassinated by al-Qaeda on September 11th's anniversary. If you watch the video, Romney's eyes and smirk betrayed that knew he had Obama too.

Sheol: An Underground Abyss
The subject of death is treated inconsistently in the Bible, though most often it suggests that physical death is the end of life.
This is the case with such central figures as Abraham, Moses, and Miriam.
There are, however, several biblical references to a place called Sheol (cf. Numbers 30, 33). It is described as a region "dark and deep," "the Pit," and "the Land of Forgetfulness," where human beings descend after death. The suggestion is that in the netherworld of Sheol, the deceased, although cut off from God and humankind, live on in some shadowy state of existence.

@574 So will they primary him for the regular election? Is there someone else?
-----------------------
Doubtful. He's got plenty of name recognition in SC. If he won the Republican primary for the Special Election, then he'll probably win it for the regular election.
All of that, of course, depends on him not doing anything stupid. If he manages to keep his head down, work hard, and avoid any more "I lack common sense" types of responses when it comes to talking about his divorce and his new marriage, then he should be okay. If he screws that up, then some of his fellow Republicans might start scenting weakness.
And really, if he can pull it off, then he'll probably stop being an issue for the Dems to use as well. The public has a short memory, and as long as Sanford can keep himself out of the news for another year, the fact that he made himself look like an idiot will lose its emotional impact with the average national voter.

The greatest amount of shame that the son of the town whore from Hope Arkansas brought to the nation in his Monica antics was when he scheduled some "counseling sessions" with Shakedown Jackson, which was degrading enough; but then they were cancelled when the Revvrunn was revealed to have knocked up his secretary (for which he agreed to remove himself from the public eye for all of one day). I was convinced the entire country was going to Hell at that point.

Rick Leventhal just said they're investigating the 911 operator that took Amanda Berry's phone call. I was hoping he was going to say because the operator said 'effin bitch' at the end of the call....but he said because the operator was suppose to keep Amanda on the phone until police arrived.
The snippet I heard of that call was unbelievable. The operator was almost dismissive and rude "You already told me that" when Amanda told her who she was and that she had been kidnapped and on the news for years. "You can talk to the police when they get there"--several times. And yes, the operator hung up, and yes, they are suppose to stay on the line. She also told Amanda "We'll send the next available car" until Amanda made it clear that she needed to send one asap.
