— CAC The gift that keeps on giving.
And giving.
And (most importantly for Presidential races) giving:
Last month, the National Journal said senior Republicans in Washington were pressing to get Wisconsin, Pennsylvania, and Michigan to drop their winner-take-all systems, and approve something which would give the GOP more electoral votes and a better chance to win the presidency. No Wisconsin lawmaker has proposed this in the new session, but GOP Governor Scott Walker says heÂ’s intrigued by the idea.
With defeating the strongest Democrat in the state twice in two years, he stands strong in 2014, so why not go for it, especially the last one?
It isn't a bad idea, particularly if a few other states got in on the act.

I'm thinking that it is perhaps time to draft Walker.
No. We need Scott Walker's in the governorships to help prep the battle field and constantly challenge the Federal Government.

I see a lot of folks talking about how guns are like cigarettes and the attack on them does seem similar. (Rush had a bit about it today)
One difference is that smokers knew their habit was bad for them and bad for other people but they had few options because they were addicted.
If those who want to ban guns or put such restraints on them like was done with cigarettes keep this up, they're going to find that it's not the same and that those owning/using firearms are not of the same mindset and not as easily cowed.

I've been a proponent of this for a long time...
Each Congresional District should be a Mini Election... and whoever wins the State should get the two electoral votes for the Senators...
This makes it a TRUE National Election... not an election where the candidates can run in a few swing States.
I live in a pretty Conservative part of California.... there were almost NO signs out for anyone last election... because California itself was a lock.... yet when I drove to Nevada? Signs everywhere...

This. Don't fuck with the EC just because it is not going our way right now.
The problem is that the other side has already decided to fuck with it. They're going to continue to push that Popular Vote Compact shit, as well as continue to build their ability to conduct voter fraud.
The ideal situation would be to eliminate the presidential candidates names altogether and simply run candidates for the position of elector, with the two senate electors being appointed by the state government. That, however, is not going to happen any time soon.

Maine and Nebraska already do this, so it wouldn't be a "change" to the electoral college. The college would still remain in place. This would merely change how the electors are selected.
I'm still somewhat leery of a big change like this, though it would probably take the wind out of the sails of those who are pushing for the popular vote compact. And it wouldn't have the same issues that the popular vote compact has if the popular vote ends up being close (can you imagine recounting every single vote in the country?). It also has the benefit of making big states like California and New York actually worthwhile to spend time in for more than just quick fund raising trips.

Yep. Republicans stampeded into letting the Democrats get the electoral votes from Southern Metro areas because "we hatz racism tu" and demographic outreach.

He made concessions to the unions then proceeded to cry poor and cut a lot of other programs to PAY for the union giveaways.
He's also NOT fighting the Dems.
He's a RINO and stupid to boot and frankly, I'd rather have Big Ed back than see this douche get another 4 years.

Depends on whether the EVs are allocated by percentage of the statewide popular vote, winner of the congressional district or what have you.

Which is why it would never happen.
Hell if the Donks are SO in love with EUtopia's parliament let's just go on ahead and make EVs part of the congressional delegation with the Senate's numbers being a winner take all state by state based on total votes cast in state.
Split the baby so to speak.
What the donks want is a PURE PV winner take all.
My beautiful Republic is in flames.
