REP DUFFY: Listen, is it nonnegotiable that he's not going to enter Obamacare? I get my gold plated health care plan but I want members of Congress and rest of America to be in Obamacare, that's nonnegotiable? Come on. That's not reasonable. One issue we have, the media won't ask the question about why are you treating families different than big business. You need Jon Stewart on Comedy Central to ask Secretary Sebelius, hey, why won't you treat these two equally and she won't answer it. That's how pathetic news reporting has come when they won't ask tough questions to the administration.
MITCHELL: We've asked questions of both sides. That's not fair.
DUFFY: Do you ask that question, Andrea.
MITCHELL: We have asked the question. The basic point is that --
DUFFY: Why do you want your own ... and won't join us in Obama care. That question I haven't seen anybody ask on MSNBC. They don't have a good answer for it. With regard to actually --
MITCHELL: The response Kathleen Sebelius gave to Jon Stewart, if we got what we wanted, a single payer plan, this wouldn't be the problem.
DUFFY: You say I think this is what they would say but you don't know because you haven't asked.

What a horrid woman. I'd say "witch" but witches are usually thought of as smart, or at least cunning. She is simply dumb.

I'd also say the "lights are on but no one's home" but that implies attractive, or at least superficially intelligent. She's not. She appears superficially stupid, but when you dig underneath the surface, you find she's also fundamentally stupid as well.

Rush played some of this earlier. I thought it was funny because he started by saying he has a ban in place regarding what gets said on that network, but was willing to make an exception for this.

His point was, essentially, why give them free advertising? It used to be fun to laugh at them, but it's gotten to the point where it's just not worth it, and I was thinking he must have been reading my mind... except he said his ban has been in place for about a year. So it pre-dates my own.

Still, it's a good point. Why bother with that network? They're paid shills, through and through. Treating them like a news gathering/reporting organization is just buying into the lie.

1. Obamacare to collapse the system because it will not work.

4. Last step. Since they pay all the bills they will nationalize all the healthcare apparatus and set rates, wages, and "healthcare taxes".

After that last step they will have nationalized healthcare in the US, lock stock and barrel.

It was largely a matter of being in the right place at the right time. In the 1970s all the networks were trying to hire female reporters and she had been a local radio reporter in Philadelphia and later in Washington DC.

She then worked the hell out of her connections so that now she has too many high placed friends in Washington society to be fired.

I seriously doubt that anybody as ugly or as obviously mean spirited as Andrea Mitchel could be hired into her position today, but then the news business is a different animal than it was 30 or 40 years ago.

Public lands, public treasury, public service are all considered part of the commons. The communal, i.e. everyone shares the costs, ownership of these things provides the rational incentive to overuse a resource as the costs are diffused but the benefits are concentrated. The famous example is of communal grazing lands. It's in your interest to overgraze your herd because if you don't your neighbor may overgraze his and get all the benefits while you are stuck only sharing the costs. Another great example is ethanol and the alternative fuels industry. Concentrated benefits for the corn growers and increased diffuse costs for everyone who operates an internal combustion engine. What does this have to do with the National Police State Service? Until the public land management system was altered in the 1970's through the enactment of the Federal Land Management Policy Act, Endangered Species Act, Clean Water Act, et al. public lands were managed for the benefit of those holding communal ownership i.e citizens. With these laws the management changed from managing the resources FOR the public to managing the resources FROM the public. To the majority of those in public land management the public are worse than rats because at least rats you can write an EIS requesting permission to eradicate. They are basically Agent Smith from The Matrix. Now they are working with glee because they finally have permission from on high to cull the despised public from public lands. Anyone whose dealt with the NPS, USFS, USFWS or BLM over the last twenty years knows this is nothing new. If they could they would deny public access to public lands except when accompanied by a trusted, verified civil service employee.

Most or all land owned by the Federal Government should be handed out in 40 acre parcels as slavery reparations. Republicans should return to their 19th century roots and get behind this program. While it would not totally surprise me to see the Democrats in the Congressional Black Caucus oppose this transfer, I could easily see them facing both a primary opponent and a Republican candidate in their district who would run on the reparations issue.

Democrats then have a decision to make - do they bone their environmentalist coalition or do they bone their black coalition.

No matter which way it goes a big bunch of Democrats gets boned and if the land is actually transferred into the private sector, the price of oil and natural gas are probably headed for a significant decrease.

Many here have repeated what I've been urging, to no avail, for years: take charge, maintain the initiative in interactions with the "press", and use them to demolish the false frameworks and mock the distortion of their "coverage".

It's not hard. Sure, it's harder than ordering a latte at Starbucks, but doesn't require Gingrich-like intelligence and verbal agility. Just some reasonable knowledge and SOME verbal skills and wit.

As I've written in these sections before, I was personally in a position to explain/push this very strategy with a very senior USG official who was in the center of the hottest story on earth at the time, and who had several tactical advantages to boot in his interview with perhaps Europe's most influential print periodical. He seemed to get it - actually was taken aback and excited and a bit curious why nobody had ever coached him thusly. Then ....... nothing. He failed to challenge even a single ridiculous premise, just meekly went along for yet another predictable dreary session of absurd and tendentious "questions" followed by wimpy evasive answers.

It would take months, perhaps, before a vigorous campaign of this sort would bear much fruit in public awareness. But it would, eventually. Most important, it would work at all levels, on all issues, and - if pursued long enough - could help rescue and actually partially revive real journalism. Only intelligent, fair-minded reporters asking sensible questions and not distorting their premises or their coverage would, eventually, prosper.
