Sharyl Attkisson: "I Have Resigned From CBS"
— Ace

Nothing more than this:

weft-cut loop posted this excerpt from Politico:

Attkisson, who has been with CBS News for two decades, had grown
frustrated with what she saw as the network's liberal bias, an outsized influence by the network's corporate partners and a lack of dedication to investigative reporting, several sources said. She increasingly felt like her work was no longer supported and that it was a struggle to get her reporting on air.

The Politico article is actually very heavy on suggesting that political bias is the cause for the resignation (or at least that Attkisson would call it the reason).

Let the speculations commence.

Posted by: Matt S. at March 10, 2014 11:01 AM (m7EhJ)

39 Wow. It must have been a very difficult work environment for the past several years at CBS. I speculate that she stayed there only because she knew that her stories carried more weight at CBS than they would at Fox. She held on a lot longer than most people would, and that is commendable. Now hopefully if she's at a network that won't tie her hands she'll be able to more fully explore the stories that she worked on.

93 Here's a fun conspiracy theory with very tenuous connections to fact:

She mentioned before that her computer was hacked, and that she strongly suspected the culprit(s).

I hypothesize that the hacker was not CBS, but that CBS gave their "blessing" or even aided the hacker in doing so. When she looked to CBS to back her up as a journalist working under their employ, they dragged their feet.

So, either she came to the conclusion that they'd never take it further due to being owned by the DNC...

or

She found out they were helping the Obama cultists directly.

*Ben's brother is David Rhodes, who happens to be Sharyl AtkissonÂ’s boss, the president of CBS News

104 Nightly News viewership ended with the boomer generation. Nobody born after that really cared to watch the nightly news (or read newspapers), and I'm not just making this up, there are many studies and demographic reports that demonstrate this to be true. People the generation after the boomers and on use the internet and other sources (such as cable news and sadly crap like Jon Stewart) for their information.
So CBS news is pretty much passe, the news section of network TV is more or less a net loser for each alphabet network, but they cling to them because of a certain demographic and it still sells some advertising. And besides, what else are they going to put in that time slot?

Don: Okay, here’s my news question. A Senate bill yesterday passes, cutting off funds to this group called ACORN. Now, we got that bill passed and we have the embarrassing video of ACORN staffers giving tax advice on how to set up a brothel with 13-year-old hookers. It has everything you could want – corruption and sleazy action at tax-funded organizations and it’s got government ties. But nobody’s covering that story. Why?

Gibson: HAHAHAHAHA. HEHEHE. I didnÂ’t even know about it. Um. So, youÂ’ve got me at a loss. I donÂ’t know. Uh. Uh. But my goodness, if itÂ’s got everything including sleaziness in it, we should talk about it this morning.

107 @80 - Bias is one thing. The press has been gradually skewing leftward since the 1920s at least. In the modern, Watergate-and-onward era they've been able to spin things as "well, if the left were in control...". Carter failed early enough and dramatically enough to stifle that, and the Clinton years were full of a little back-and-forth tension. But Obama gave them the whole enchilada. The media's attempt at defending the utterly indefensible has gotten us where we are now.

Blaze TV would no doubt give her a show to talk about whatever news stories she wanted, should she desire it. But the audience at FoxNews is larger. Either way, good for her, hope it leads to good things.

Nada since. It is also a shame because of all the Propaganda Nets media CBS had only recently actually even carried a few seconds of coverage of news that has been blacked out completely by the rest. Balanced on the down side by 60 minutes hit pieces of course but still, they almost almost gave me hope once or twice. Thank God they've snapped me out of it.

My wife and I were eating at some new Italian place that opened up. Turned out the owner was a former Maserati dealership partner and it was Maserati day in the parking lot outside. Every model you can think of was parked outside. Inside, there was an obsidian elbowed girl in a short skirt and a tight jacket with 38DDD's stuffed inside them. She was the receptionist at the dealership.

But Attkisson had become a polarizing figure at the network, sources there said. While some championed her relentless dedication to investigations -- ranging from defective Firestone Tires to the Fast and Furious gunwalking scandal -- others saw evidence of a political agenda, particularly against President Obama. (The bulk of AttkissonÂ’s work since 2009 has focused on the failures or perceived failures of the Obama administration, including the administrationÂ’s failed green energy investments and the attack in Benghazi, though she has reported on several Republican failures as well.)

In other words,  reporting on Obammy     as anything other than a God among men is considered a "political agenda."    Got it?

204 FoxNews averages 2M in primetime, 1M in the day. But for spreading ideas counting total viewers is not as useful since it's the same person. If I watch 4 hrs of Fox saying Obamacare sucks vs 4 people watching 1 hr of evening news or the Daily Show saying Obamacare is awesome, but Repubs are trying to ruin it ... the anti-Obamacare ideas aren't having as much cultural reach even though, technically, they have the same # of viewer hours. FoxNews preaches to the choir more since most people never watch FoxNews.

233 Thanks Buckeye Abroad. I've read Horowitz and agree with your general drift but was referring to the remote possibility that CBS would consider reporting news again. At this point the Nets actually black out news like the IRS scandal that hurts the WH but even more chilling, they black out the OCare fallout that citizens all over the Country know from first hand experience is wrecking their lives. So average Joe gets a letter that his premium went up 70% while dropping his wife and then CBS reports that everything is just super number one! with the ACA. That is Orwell world not just propaganda. It's like reporting that "the tanks in the street are for the protection of you the citizens. But don't leave your homes or we will kill you." On the other hand CBS may just be offering an investigative reporter spot to Lena Dunham and can't afford both.

The fact that other people overused and abused it later and its old hat to us now doesn't change the incredible importance and power of that film.

Attkisson has been one of the very few MSM investigative reporters to do her job. She did her job on Fast and Furious and received heat directly from the White House as a result, and that's just one example. I'm guessing her bosses received word from the White House that CBS access to highly placed sources would be severely curtailed or cut off if she remained on the payroll. That's how that works.

She's shown courage and integrity in an institution that has notoriously and blatantly forsaken both. In a just world, she'd be feted and celebrated by her peers, given a raise and a plum assignment by her bosses. So much for a just world.

Also, and this ties in well with the original post actually, but the movie is a cinematic punching up to Hearst, the greatest newspaper magnate at the time. Hearst assumed that Susan was based off Marion Davies and tried to destroy Welles over it. Early Welles had major balls, unlike filmmakers today. The history behind the film + the film's groundbreaking artistry is what makes it so incredible.

A few years ago, a deer hunter at Camp Atterbury near where I live fell from a tree stand and broke his hip and one of his legs. He was helpless. If his buddies hadn't heard his cries for help, the coyotes surrounding him (and moving in) would've had him.  When I was a teenager, coyotes ran one of our cows to death. After that, we'd just shoot 'em on sight. The worst were those 'coy-dog' hybrids. Smart like a coyote but unafraid of humans.

Those who wax rhapsodic about the warm and fuzzy, Disneyesque aspects of nature don't know much about nature. It's claw and fang cruelty, and the only things keeping people on top of the food chain are two good legs, a few opposable thumbs, and a rifle.
