8 Never liked the word "feminist," myself. But, I kinda like the urban dictionary definition: A person who supports equality between the sexes. Feminists can be (and are) women, men, and transpeople. Feminists are black, white, and everything in between. Feminists are straight, gay, and bisexual. Feminists understand that inequality effects everyone. Feminists ARE NOT Nazis, or women who can't get laid. The very existence of these views is proof that feminism still has a lot of work to do. Some feminists shave, and some don't. Some are "fashionable", some aren't. Just like any other group of people. Not all feminists are lesbians, though lesbians can be feminists. The ongoing Civil Rights movement and the push for gay marriage are often associated with feminism as each cause expresses a very sane desire to create world recognition of our intrinsic equality. John: Lisa's a feminist? You mean a bitch, right? Max: She just believes in equal rights, man. I'm a feminist, too.

Maybe we need a new word, but I'm at a loss as to what it would be. I used to go around, at like 15, saying I was a "feminist, but not a female supremacist" but that's basically an eyeroll in the form of a phrase.

That's the problem.  First off, Feminism never meant that.  It was always a "rebellion against the patriarchy."  In the early days, if you were a male who agreed that women deserved equal political rights, you were on the side of the Feminists, but no one would ever have called you a Feminist.

Now, though, "Feminism" hides behind that nice rosy perception while Feminists (as a rule) are actually for anything but "equal treatment."  They want special consideration and privileges.

Back in the seventies I had a friend who was always talking about how we needed the Equal Rights Amendment. I told her we didn't need it because a woman who was discriminated against, based on gender, was already protected by law and could try to prove her case in court. Because they buy the liberal bs that they get 24/7 from almost the entire media, that women somehow have it tougher than men. I do not consider myself a feminist at all because third wave feminism, which is nothing but a truly pathetic and bastardized form of Victorian mores, is what is currently deemed the One True Feminist way. I don't want to be associated with that in any way. I'm torn on this. I do believe in taking back the language and I do believe in taking back terms. 112 No. I am a woman but I am no feminist. The thing is, even though people spout the crap about feminism just means you're for equality, in practice that is not the case. Yes, men and women should be treated equally under the law. No, men and women are not identical (I would argue we are complementary). And the feminist movement seems to always be pushing this crap that men and women are identical (but, wink wink, women are really superior) and that is just biologically incorrect. And it sets people of both sexes up for miserable failure when we expect women and men to behave identically or be capable of identical things. So, in a nutshell, I am not a feminist. I am all for being a don't-mistreat-people-because-of-their-sex-ist. Or, in short form, a decent human being.

Maybe that's just me in my conservative world, but all the women I know don't seem to like to associate with this word. In a strictly libertarian sense I don't have a problem with it. In a social sense I do though. Feminism is responsible for creating a long list of mental disorders. This is something that is heavily studied now and professionals are pointing fingers at feminism. The fact is we are different biologically. Our bodies are different, our minds are different. Women have been encouraged and pressured to pursue things that frankly they aren't naturally inclined to... and as a result things like depression and anxiety are on the rise big time. It's like that line from Jurassic Park... "so preoccupied with whether or not they could that they didn't stop to think if they should. "

If you want to empower women, buy them a pistol/ammo , teach them how to accurately and safely shoot it , then help them get a CHL. My wife took her CHL (Concealed handgun license) class , written test and shooting qualification yesterday. She passed with flying colors. She is walking around here puffed up like a bantam rooster and is very happy. I am very proud of her too. The instructor told me she got a perfect score on the shooting practical (250 points out of 250 possible on the 50 shot timed test). He said she shoots better than he does. I told him I had her shooting at a 4 inch diameter spinner (about the size of a human heart) from 15 yards (max distance on the test) and after some practice she could hit it every time, so the trials at 3 and 7 yards and hitting that 8 ring or better were a piece of cake. Heck most of her shots were in the bullseye with a few in the 9 ring and 2 in the 8 ring. I also had her shooting 1 shot per second (twice as fast the test). She whined about it and didn't like it too much, but it sure made her a better shootist. He didn't like her 1 handed grip, but I told him "I trained her like that on purpose because next I was going to teach her how to shoot with a pistol in each hand, Texas gunslinger style (a double duelist, pistol packing mama)". He just laughed. The test is timed, you have to get off a series of 50 shots in so many seconds from 3 distances (3, 7 and 15 yards). Here is her target. 175 is the minimum passing score. They want you to shoot center of mass. That's just one example of Empowering women....She now has a murder, mugging and rape free zone that extends 15 yards in any direction around her. She doesn't have to be beholding to, or fear any man a putting hands on or abusing her. She is woman, hear her pistols roar! In my experience that's a lot more effective than the whistle, or Judo lessons Obama and the Democrats want women to have.

I  wonder  if  we are  fighting  the wrong  battles.   This  is  where  Bush  was  right and  Carson  is  right.  We need  to make  more  owners.   Owners are  better  than  renters,  in  general.  We  need  to  start  bribing  people  with  things.  The  dems  do  this, but  they  do it with  controls.   Maybe  we  should  give it to  people  without  controls,  or  with  fewer  controls.   I  don't  know  how  to  do  this.   I  think  it could  work  with  education  vouchers  (though  it  needs  to be packaged and  marketed  differently).   It  could  be  done by  maybe  offering  each  individual  a  gun.  We  have  totally  given  up  property  rights  in this country  because  too  few  now  have  any  property  worth  protecting.   What  if the  GOP  promised  another homestead  act  to   lower  income  people?  Just  some  rambling  thoughts.

Now, I'm not going to say about her because I don't know.  But I will say that in general a 6'2" 220 lb man in decent condition could absolutely overpower a (how tall is she?  5'10"?) 136 lb woman even in prime condition.  Especially if he gets the drop on her.  Especially if he doesn't hold himself to any rules.

I could get the lowest ranked 136 pound professional MMA male fighter and he would kick her ass.   The majority of men in the world couldn't beat Serena Williams in tennis but the lowest ranked ATP player could.  There is no overlap in the profession.

And I guess I would too. ok, so the point is that a female, conditioned to be in fighting shape could take possibly take out a man who is only in enough shape to last 2 minutes in a ring before being completely gassed out, as long as she is not outweighed by 50 pounds or suffers a 6inch reach disadvantage. But enter in the ring a guy with some cardio and skills and relevant weight class experience, all bets are off.

Sadly, that is how I see it. The basic biological reproductive imperative of a woman is to tie down a man for support/protection. Trading replication value for survival. It's a lot easier to vote for tyranny than to take a chance and fail to catch a quality man.

Most only remember the initial idea which was equal access to jobs (doctor, lawyer, indian chief) and equal pay for the same job. Some also have the vague idea of it being related to "reproduction rights" or "sexual freedom". But a sizable group have picked up the idea that these people reealllly don't like males, tend to promote lesbianism as "the political litmus test" for being feminist and intend to end the traditional existence of "the family'. Yet, most people lack familiarity with the alien mindset found in their "research publications" or heard in academic presentations. Using the same term therefore carries mixed messages relating to the group who hears the word and therefore, could backfire. I'd try to develop alterative language that captures how must women see themselves: professionals, family managers, consumer decision makers, mothers, community leaders (I'd use organizers, but the democrats have hijacked that word-- but females have dominated volunteers service for decades)

I've  listened to quite a few women, young and old, who despair over the fact that there aren't any real men out there anymore.  And by  real men, I mean someone who vows to protect and provide for them, but mostly treat  and love  them as ladies.  So many women out there that actually want to be  treated as  a woman but can't find a man willing to do so. 

 

I guess many of the males  in this nation  are voting for tyrants too.

Since many of these wives did not have an education or career, this create quite a social shockwave. Their daughters were taking notes while this went on. It gave the radical arm of the movement a club to swing, and they did so.
