Instead, enjoy this VDH article.
Today’s Washington journalists are like J. R. R. Tolkien’s ring wraiths, petty lords who wanted a few shiny golden Obama rings — only to end up as shrunken slaves to the One.

There is lots of promise in Tor's value – people use it to protect their communications, to research sensitive topics, and to access information they might otherwise not have access to (if a country is behind a firewall, for example). By guaranteeing such a high level of anonymity, Tor lends itself well to information freedom activists, libertarians, and those who simply want to take their Internet safety to the extreme.

WTH ever happened to the Dwarf rings, anyway? IIRC, they were supposed to be the foundation of the seven great clan's mountains o' gold and joo-els, but essentially lost.
I kind of wonder if, for example, Moria was a template for what happened although it was never spelled out. The Moria ring enabled the dwarves there to find craploads of ore, they flourish and excel at artisan works and engineering, the ring draws in the rot and demons from below.....

According to Phillips, his son's social studies teacher, identified as James DeLarme, saw the picture and snatched the camera from him.
After his son explained the picture was of a BB gun, DeLarme allegedly said the police would have to be notified. DeLarme and another teacher then reportedly went through all the photos on the boy's camera before handing it back.
“Do you have any animosity towards your classmates?” DeLarme asked him in front of the class. “Are you angry at anyone at school?” "Are your teachers stupid bitches ?"

I've talked about it before, Ed, but I'll see if I can dig up some things I haven't mentioned. Here's two short ones - the role of dentist Melville Crump was supposed to be played by Ernie Kovacs (it's Kovacs' wife, Edie Adams, who plays Mrs Crump), but he died before shooting began.
And Spencer Tracy said that, of all his movies, Mad4 was the one he had the most fun doing.

And here's another - Stooge Joe Besser was supposed to be one of the two gas station attendants whose store Jonathan Winters wrecks, but he was under contract to a TV show at the time and they wouldn't let him film the movie.
Also, I've read somewhere that it's very likely the fireman who tries to rescue everyone from the collapsing fire escape was supposed to be Ed Wynn, since Wynn was best-known for his role as the Texaco Fire Chief, while Sterling Holloway (who ended up with the role) was not so instantly recognizable that he would have stood out in the cameo.

Oberlin College canceled classes and held a unity rally on Monday following reports that a person in a Ku Klux Klan-like outfit was seen on campus. It turns out the witness may have been mistaken.
Oberlin police Lt. Mike McCloskey said that authorities did find a pedestrian wrapped in a blanket. He said police interviewed another witness later in the day and that person also saw a female walking with a blanket. He said Oberlin police were contacted by campus security and interviewed the student who reported seeing the KKK outfit.
All of that hysteria over someone wrapped in a blanket.

Yes, 'think' is far too strong a word. It makes them feel good about their convictions that poor Froddo saved the whole world from nuclear devastation by destroying the nuke... 'feelings, nothing but feelings'
They always seem to ignore the fact that Frodo had to sacrifice his idyllic life and ultimately left his home and family to sail to the Grey Havens BECAUSE OF THE RING'S CORRUPTION. It's like they don't realize that everything wasn't suddenly peachy keen just because the ring was destroyed.

"World War Z," starring Brad Pitt.
A researcher for the U.N. Postwar Commission interviews survivors of the flesh-eating zombie attack from all over the world in order to put together a post-mortem on a war that destroyed every country around the globe.
A flesh-eating zombie apocalypse in which billions of people were eaten... but apparently not the beautiful people like Brad Pitt.

And BTW with all these live action comic book movies, dear Americans stop looking down at all these cartoon movies from Japan based on manga characters.

I KNOW, right? I'm sorry, one good movie does not a good director make. "Sixth Sense" was lightning in a bottle. Move on, folks.
PS - Though I have to admit I enjoyed "Unbreakable."

I loved the premise. In so many of the great comic book stories -- hell, in many archetypical hero stories -- the hero and the villain were at one time friends. It was really neat to watch that played out in a "real life" kind of comic book setting.

I was always rooting for Gargamel in the original cartoon. Partly because the Smurfs were so friggin annoying, but also because he reminded me of my grandfather.
Not that my grandfather was a mean old man who dreamt of genocide; they just looked alike in my childish eyes.
But I like to believe that, had he been faced with putting up with a race of small blue people who stood "three apples high" and sang that stupid, STUPID song all the time, my grandfather would have gone Gargamel on them, too.

Oh boy, "Elysium" sounds like SUCH a fun movie. [/sarc]
In the year 2159 two classes of people exist: the very wealthy who live on a pristine man-made space station called Elysium, and the rest, who live on an overpopulated, ruined Earth. Secretary Rhodes (Jodie Foster), a hard line government official will stop at nothing to enforce anti-immigration laws and preserve the luxurious lifestyle of the citizens of Elysium. That doesn't stop the people of Earth from trying to get in, by any means they can. When unlucky Max (Matt Damon) is backed into a corner, he agrees to take on a daunting mission that if successful will not only save his life, but could bring equality to these polarized worlds.
Why bother with making it the future? Change the dates and names and you'd have the MFM playbook from the last election.

"The Mortal Instruments: City of Bones"
Set in contemporary New York City, a seemingly ordinary teenager, Clary Fray (Lily Collins), discovers she is the descendant of a line of Shadowhunters, a secret cadre of young half-angel warriors locked in an ancient battle to protect our world from demons. After the disappearance of her mother (Lena Headey), Clary must join forces with a group of Shadowhunters, who introduce her to a dangerous alternate New York called Downworld, filled with demons, warlocks, vampires, werewolves and other deadly creatures.
AKA, "Buffy 2.0."

"The To-Do List"
RATED R for pervasive strong crude and sexual content including graphic dialogue, drug and alcohol use, and language - all involving teens.
Storyline
Set in 1993, valedictorian Brandy Klark (Aubrey Plaza) wants to shed her uptight image before college, so she assembles a to do list of all the “activities” she missed out on in high school. Quickly realizing that she's way out of her depth, Brandy solicits her best friends (Alia Shawkat, Sarah Steele, Donald Glover, Christopher Mintz-Plasse and Johnny Simmons), older sister (Rachel Bilson) and burnt-out boss (Bill Hader) for their help and advice. If the group is going to complete the list by September they'll need plenty of imagination and very open minds.
Loosely inspired by the real-life adventures of first-time writer/director Maggie Carey.
They could just call this, "Lena Dunham: How I Learned To Stop Worrying And Love Being A Whore."

'Elysium' yeah will pass. Methinks they are trying to peddle immigration reform. Though perhaps with this movie, maybe James Cameron will finally either make Battle Angle Alita or let someone else do it.
I'm sure if Cameron did it he'd find a way to turn it into another Gaia-loving snoozefest like "Avatar." Very pretty to look at, but absolutely no content worthy of the source material. Instead of blue aliens he'll have cyborgs.

Also: When they take an excellent book and then fiddle with the characters & ending so that it's just another crappy, mindless movie pushing Hollywood's favorite messages (e.g.,war is bad, humans are killing the lanet, etc.).

My favorite from AnnaP's link:
"Time's Malevolent Vacuum Tube."
Though it's got stiff competition:
"The Colony From the Enormous Amoeba"
"The Bazaar of the Phantom Freebooters"
"The Fungus That Lost the Robot"
"The Comet That Taunted the Poet"
That last one would be hilarious.
"Betcha can't rhyme me with anything other than vomit."
"Stop it! Abscond, foul comet!"
"Vomit."
"SHUT UP!"

At least they are keeping it period. Will they cover the parts of the story where some of the wave-men send their daughters into prostitution just so they can continue on their quest of vengeance?
I will skip it though and just watch the black and white two part movie the Japanese had already made long ago.

They are betting that Keanu's impassive, read none, acting style will be mis-interpreted as a samurai's steely resolve.
Kind of like how leftists like to pretend Obammy's utter lack of foreign policy is in fact a "reserved" foreign policy.
At least it's got Ken Watanabe in it. Though I wonder if he doesn't look at Keanu and Tom Cruise and other American actors who've been in movies with him and say to himself, "WTH? No, seriously, WTH?"
I'm with you. Stick with the original.
