So Apparently Amanda Bynes (Whoever That Is) Has Gone Crazy

Before writing this post, I didn't know who this is and I didn't know what she's alleged to have done.

However, when you see a tweet like this, from Hot Heroin Mess Courtney Love...

What the hell does one have to do to get Courtney Love to urge prudence and restraint?

Remember when Guns n Roses kicked out one of its members for abusing drugs and alcohol? And you were like, Whoah. So yeah, it's like that.

I still don't know who she is and all that she's done, but apparently she was arrested for DUI and maybe hitting and running. Then she asked Obama for his personal intervention in her case.

Her parents want to involuntarily commit her, but "sources" say she isn't demonstrably 5150 yet, so there's nothing to be done.

She's also taken to posting sorta unappetizing selfies (moderate content warning).

Those look pretty natural. It's a very hot look in France, called l'air de Mongolfier.

Anyway, Twitchy is documenting this person, whoever she is, and whatever she may have done.

But the reason I'm linking is because of a tweet she tossed towards a model, a Chrissy Tiegen. I linked something about Tiegen a week or so ago. I forget what the hell it was (oh, right, it was about shaming the Teen Mom who wanted to do a Sex Tape), but what I remember about it that sometimes Tiegen looks like this:

I'd buy that for a dollar, I would say if I lived in the Robocop Universe.

Anyway, Bynes sort of proves she's ready to be involuntarily commited by writing this meshugas:

Casting doubt on her claim that she shows no signs of mental illness: She didn't write that on Twitter. She scrawled it over her face and breasts in lipstick and Rainbow Glitter Sharpie, then posted a picture of it on DesperateCryForHelp.net.

I know who this chick is and have watched her grow up, only because I used to watch Nickelodeon with my son. She had her own show at a very young age on Nick and steadily progressed into prime time tv and then onto movies. I always thought she was a cute girl and she did eventually blossom into a hottie. However, the crazy inside her also blossomed as well. She "retired" from acting at the age of 23 or something. Not typically one calls a retirement age, but maybe she made a lot of money on Nick and her tv shows.

Also, she once tweeted that she wanted Drake from "Drake and Josh" to "murder her vagina".

So...maybe not all that bad?

Yes, the Amanda Show, on kids' TV. Child star. We'd have it on sometimes when my daughter was young. It was amusing, and she was cute as the proverbial button. Then I saw her in a movie or two, where she was also funny, and cute as a button. "Big Fat Liar" was good. When Lindsay Lohan went nuts, there was at least still Amanda.

My now-college age daughter was a fan of the 'Amanda Show' on Nick several years ago, so I watched it several times. Amanda was a charming, talented girl back then, lots of beauty, wit, and promise, and now, I guess, she's mentally ill.

Nothing funny to say about a talented young woman clearly headed toward the edge. Felt the same way about Amy Winehouse before she died and about Brittney Spears when Spears was clearly losing her mind awhile back. Frankly feel the same way about all of them, these child stars and young celebrities who seemingly grow up without much parental guidance or influence, surrounded by an army of sycophants whose interests are served by keeping the star addled on drugs. (See Lindsey Lohan, et al)

Interesting thing: a buddy of mine is a pop culture reporter (for lack of a better term). He once interviewed Chloe Grace Moretz, the child star of 'Kickass' and the soon-to-be-released remake of 'Carrie', as well as a bunch of other movies. Before the interview, he spoke at length with Chloe's mother, who wanted to check his credentials and get an idea of the questions asked in the interview. The sense he got was that both of her parents wanted their daughter to have as close to a semblance of a normal life as she could get under those circumstances, and that they were watching over her and looking out for her. That doesn't seem to be the case with Amanda Bynes. She probably thinks no one close to her loves her and the hell of it is she's probably right.

I thought 'Kickass' was a fun movie--one of the few decent flicks Nicholas Cage has been in for the last decade or so--and I especially liked the way the Hit Girl character slaughtered a dozen people to the Banana Splits theme. I also notice that your moral indignation didn't prevent you from watching it, either.

FYI: she didn't really kill a dozen or more people in that movie. What looked like blood to you was probably Karo syrup with a little red dye #2.
