— Ace He was scheduled to speak there. Then, Gosnell.
So Jay Carney said the other day the trip was cancelled, claiming that Obama wished to spend more time with the victims of the West, Texas fertilizer plant explosion.
That was the claim. I guess to he claimed this simply to put out the word to the press that there would be no inconvenient optics so they shouldn't bother covering them.
Not that they would, anyway.
Trouble is, he actually did show up there.
So why did Jay Carney claim he'd be spendin' time with the folks of West, Texas, instead? Correction: Commenters including Lauren are telling me I misinterpreted Jay Carney's statement, and say he always said the scheduled Thursday speech would just take place on Friday.
President Obama vowed Friday to fight with Planned Parenthood against what he said were efforts across the country to turn women's health back to the 1950s.Obama's comments were the first to be delivered by a sitting president before the abortion-rights group. He lauded the group's nearly 100 years of service to women, providing cancer screenings, contraceptives and other health services.
"When politicians try to turn Planned Parenthood into a punching bag, they're not just talking about you," he said. "They're talking about the millions of women who you serve."
In related news, Gosnell regularly delivered babies upon an operating table and then severed their spines to kill them.
Obama refuses to comment on this matter, claiming he can't comment on an active legal proceeding.
Apparently this concern did not prevent him from doing his typical We Got Him victory dance last Friday, when local police found and chased and captured Dzhohkar Tsarnaev.

Every day the arrogance and disregard for anything but himself increase in TFG. He never planned NOT to speak at Planned Parenthood, he simply told his minions to lie to everyone. Nevermind that the people of West, TX were used in so callow a fashion, TFG is the only thing that matters to TFG.
And TFG's minions, though they are legion, HAVE to be getting whiplash from the constant covering-up they have to do. Bad enough they're functioning as TFG's pooper-scooper, but when it turns to diarrhea. . .

Those days never really existed. Women got abortions provided they had the money to find a discreet doctor who would do a D & C to correct those "irregular" periods. What did not happen were abortions after after late in the second month or early in the third. Not even the greediest of doctors would just butcher a viable baby. If a woman or girl waited too long, she left town and had the baby, put it up for adoption. During the VN war, there were a lot of women who pretended to be widows of some guy who died in VN to explain away their babies.

Yep, every big city had some doctors and even free clinics that provided the service. There were those overseas trips. I think the number of women who actually died from having some old crone use a coat hanger on them was so low that no one kept a count of it.

Last night's speech went pretty well. It was billed as being on the "future of conservatism," even though my speaker's bureau had told me it would be on Liberal Fascism. So I had to call a bit of an audible and go with my old standby of erotic interpretive dance. I shouldn't have to say it, but I left no one disappointed.
During the Q&A a very attractive girl who'd spent much of my talk rolling her eyes and chatting with her friend, asked me a pretty typical question. She asked, more or less: How can you expect the Republicans to have a future if you go around antagonizing liberals, who are half the country, the way you did tonight?
I responded with a few points. First, I did my "Babe Ruth pointing to the outfield." Then I did "dog pointing at water fowl." I followed up with "Billy Hayes furiously pointing at Rifki in Midnight Express." And I closed with the crowd pleaser "Bill Clinton pointing out his nightly selections from the intern pens."
Once I was done with my interpretive dance "points," I adjusted my form fitting unitard and made some verbal ones.
I explained that I was not there as a Republican and that I don't speak for the Republican party. The GOP is simply the more conservative of the two political parties and as such it gets my vote. I speak for myself, for conservatism as I understand it, and -- it should go without saying -- the riders of Rohan.
Second, liberals -- as in people who actually call themselves liberals -- make up only about 20 percent of the electorate, while people who self-identify as conservatives make up 40 percent of the country. So even if I was speaking for Republicans, the idea that the key to Republican success lies in avoiding antagonizing liberals is just plain weird. Besides, liberals have had a great run of late antagonizing conservatives. Shouldn't that mean liberals are doomed?
I made a few other (verbal) points. Deep Space Nine, much like Brussels sprouts and Swiss armed neutrality, is underrated, etc. But here's the interesting part ("We'll be the judge of that," – The Couch). A central theme of my speech was that conservatives should spend less time demonizing liberals and more time trying to understand why so many people find the liberal message of "community" appealing.
I suggested that maybe what she took for my "antagonizing" could more plausibly be described as me offering "hard truths" she didn't like hearing. This made her quite angry. One might even say it antagonized her. And that's fair enough. No one likes being told that their anger stems not from being wrongly insulted but from being rightly told that they're wrong ("Gimme a second; I'm still trying to follow that" -- The Couch).
Still, I find this representative of a lot of campus liberals. They seem to think that the first sin of conservatism is disagreeing with liberals, as if it is simply mean-spirited to think liberals are wrong.

I've also followed the Gosnell trial and on a comparative basis find them equally as horrible, minus the ignominious Nazi patient selection process (e.g. religion and mental capabilities).
So what's the difference between Mengele and Gosnell? Only the way they selected their patients. Conclusively, I would find Gosnell to be incrementally worse. Because he picked his victims in the most vulnerable state of their lives.
Yet the media does not cover this, President Obama does not mention it and in defiance, speaks at the conference of our countries largest baby killer.
In what alternate universe does any of this make sense? The common thread is the religion of liberalism that does not have any moral or existential boundaries. The cult-like adherence it demands is both mindless, contra-intellectual and destructive.

Then why would informing them of their Rights... be a bad thing?
People ARE under the misconception that their Rights do not kick in until the Police tell them they do.... and the FACT that the Police can LIE, but you can't... makes it an unlevel playing field.
The Miranda exception is supposed to be for immediate saftey.... ie... wheres the gun... is there another bomb ticking... but this guy was being questioned DAYS later...

You know exactly why they didn't Mirandize him. It's been discussed here in countless threads since the bombing.
People ARE under the misconception that their Rights do not kick in until the Police tell them they do.... and the FACT that the Police can LIE, but you can't... makes it an unlevel playing field.
So fucking what? You're too stupid to even grasp the most basic of your rights? That's your problem, not mine, not the police's, not anyone else's.
The Miranda exception is supposed to be for immediate saftey.... ie... wheres the gun... is there another bomb ticking... but this guy was being questioned DAYS later...
They actually didn't even need public safety. If they didn't care about using whatever he said in a criminal case against him, it doesn't matter if they mirandized him.
The Government could have declared him an Enemy Combatant... but did not... they were trying to 'have their cake and eat it too'...

First off, the govt cannot destroy my rights in that they did not grant them to begin with. My rights exist independent of the govt. They can restrict my enjoyment of them, but they are incapable of doing anything to the rights themselves.

I found the text of Obama's remarks at whitehouse.gov, and did an experiment to see (a) whether he ever uses the word abortion, or (b) whether he instead uses euphemisms like "women's health," and "reproductive freedom." I suspected that he wouldn't on (a), and will on (b).
I was right! (Meaning I correctly noted the crushingly obvious.)
Mentions of the words "women" or "woman" = 36
Mentions of the word "health" = 23
Mentions of the words "right" or "rights" = 10
Mentions of the words "choice" or "choose" = 5
Mentions of the word "abortion" = 0
Mentions of the word "baby," "infant," or "child" = 0
Oh, my apologies. He does use the word "children" once. He says:
"We need all the women who come through your doors telling their children, their husbands, and the folks in their neighborhoods about their health care options."
Somehow I think that when the hundreds of thousands of women who come through the doors of Planned Parenthood every year for abortions tell their "children" about their "health care options," that information will fall on deaf ears, because their children, of course, will be dead.
Oh, and by the way, he doesn't mention the words "Kermit Gosnell" either.
