8 One thing I find refreshing about James Lileks is this: as hard as he ridicules the hideously unappealing pictures and stomach-turning recipes, his laughter never turns into sneering. A liberal would take the same material and write a book out of which you'd be able smell the hatred and contempt boiling off from every page. Lileks, on the other hand, is not driven by hate. He wants us to "enjoy the spirit behind the books", even while we're retching at the contents. And that makes all the difference This is also known as the difference between dicks, assholes, and pussies. The asshole is hateful, shitting over everything.

This morning I ran my 5K, a day after an allergy attack and with lungs full of phlegm. If not for being stuck at the start behind a traffic jam of runners, I could have pulled it off. I haven't gotten the results yet, but I think I was a few ticks over 30 minutes.

Still, I'm pretty stoked I finished. I dropped to the ground at the finish.

113 Being in cali I couldn't make it to dc for the march. But I do live next to camp pendelton. So I drove to south san clemente. Took me all of 10 mins to find a table of marines at tommys. I bought their meals and enjoyed a cup of coffee with them for a few. Fine young men all.

I don't know if anyone noticed, but Shark Tank is down, 403 Error - Forbidden.

I even tried locating it through Bing and I still got the same message. Anyone else experiencing the same?

197 I posted this thought in the gun thread earlier but didn't get many replies (maybe it was to political, but it dealt with a story that was in the thread) anyway. What we need to do is target California. We need to use targeted boycotts in order to lure businesses away from California and into Conservative states. We have a national organization like the NRA that has millions of members and likely just as many supporters and we target a handful of companies in California or New York or Chicago (places with strict gun control laws but no strong Conservative presence) and we get those companies to move or we make an example of them (like was done to Grupon). We cut the economic legs out from underneath those states. The companies we target should be given a choice, stay in the state and go out of business or relocated to a red state and hire new staff as much as possible. We need to partner up with red state Governors, help pay for the companies move, make it easy for them to make the right choice. Then stand back and watch the blue states turn into Detroit.
