Hollande refuses slavery reparations payments

Hollande only says that because he would lose more votes than he would gain by doing something like that.  Make no mistake that there is tremendous racial tension in parts of France between  "certain" ethnic groups.

Obama does what he does and gets away with it because:

1) No one will tell the truth about it

2) It's a net vote getter because of that

28 The focus will now become whether or not IRS commissioner Doug Shulman knew about the questions when he testified that no Tea Party groups were being targeted for unfair scrutiny in front of Congress in 2012. The report doesn't shay whether or not Shulman was informed about the Tea Party questioning, but it does show the IRS's chief counsel was. It's standard procedure for the counsel and commissioner to discuss this sort of thing before a Congressional hearing. Shulman's term as head of the IRS ended at the end of last year and he was appointed by President Bush. But Obama has yet to announce a replacement.

I was thinking about that after I made my comment. When I was thirteen I worked for a nearby farmer doing field work, milking, etc. I had to wait till I was fourteen to actually get a job with reported income due to labor laws. When I did turn fourteen I got a job at the local gas station/convenience store working around twenty hours a week (a pay cut from farm work but then again I didn't have to do farm work). Now days the people working that kind of job does it for their livelihood. You don't see a fourteen year old working anywhere. Our new economy.

84 Happy Mother's Day to all the moms and everyone's moms.  I chose not to be a mother to human children, but I consider myself a mother to the animals I've rescued.  So they went out and bought me cheesecake and flowers.  I'm not sure when the dog got his driver's license, I'm just glad the car came back in one piece.

Enjoy your day everyone!  Without mothers, none of us would be here.

That's how they get that shit passed.  They had a bond referendum her during the normal election.  It was defeated 2 to 1 with tens of thousands of votes.  They redid the referendum during an off month and gave county employees the "day off".  It passed with 600 votes. Sales tax went up yet again.

89 72 A LONG-running neighbourhood dispute over a property line has come to a head with a US man accused of embarking on a rampage with a bulldozer. ... They say the 51-year-old drove his bulldozer into four homes, knocking one off its foundations. He also damaged vehicles, boats and a power pole during his rage, leaving thousands of people without electricity. The “highly agitated” Swegle was arrested and police are investigating the incident. We've had a few great reparations threads here at the HQ.  I hereby choose me to be the person hired by Uncle Sucker to figure out the reparations formula.  The task will be difficult, as the following illustrates:

Instead of going on to become a Professor at Georgetown University and a recognized authority in International Law, my ancestor William Lawrence Penfield (b. 1846 - 7th generation of Penfields born in North America), volunteered for service in the Iron Brigade of the 24th Michgan Infantry Regiment, and died fighting at Gettysburg for the Army of the Potomac, and quite obviously helped free the slaves by his sacrifice.

By my calculations, William Lawrence Penfield's death was worth a cool $50,000.00 in 1863 US Dollars.  Accounting for inflation and compounding interest daily at 12% (the statutory rate for judgments) from the date of his death, July 3, 1863 to today, it appears that my family is due a cashier's check for $1,655,109,348,953,127.00 from the currently living ancestors of those he helped free.

I will be dropping by Al Sharpton's office tomorrow morning to pick up the check.  Anyone wonder what he will say?  Al ain't too smart, so he won't say something like:  "Ha, Cracker, you don't even exist, because your great-great-great-great-great granddaddy wound up on the hot end of a mini-ball, so eat shit!"  Likely he'll just spout that I am racist and expound how the life of a slave turned hero like Denzel Washington in Glory was clearly more valuable than that of a Georgetown Professor of International Law, and so I get nothing.

So, yeah, let me be in charge of this program, and I'll earn every penny of my billion dollars per year.

I was watching FNC and there was a debate over a female florist in the state of Washington refusing to serve a gay wedding or something.

The viewer comment in the sidebar was truly surrealarious  "If the floral industry starts refusing to serve gays..."

So Washington found one of maybe  five florists in the entire universe who might feel squeamish about gay whatever and now  it is necessary  for the state  to come down on her with the force of a thousand Entebbe raids, to be tolerant natch.

So I am checking the calendar to see if it was April First again and Kuby, the hippie lawyer, starts talking about the potential for florists enforcing a whole litany of political viewpoints on us.

Like the marching hammers in The Wall, but with some baby's breath and hot house roses sticking out of the top.

First  the florists came for the gay weddings and I said nothing......

134 OB, the planet doesn't give a shit one way or the other over your moronic denialism of global warming. Every year that goes by sets a new record; for half a decade now, the entire Top Ten record high years for global temperature over the entirety of human civilization has been synonymous with the last 10 years. 2013 will continue this trend, as will the next year, and the next, and so will global weather patterns continue to turn weirder and more inhospitable for life on this planet. The planet doesn't give a shit because the planet will be here no matter what, sheltering anaerobic life forms around deep sea vents ... and no where else.
