1 Good Morning Morons.  Today is Saturday, August 10, 2013.  On this day in 1948 Candid Camera made its debut on TV after first being on the radio as candid microphone.  The show was still on TV after we got our first one later in the 50s.  I always suspected most of that show was staged and fake.

So up and at'm Morons I have already done the news and grilled a 1" ribeye and fixed eggs and toast to go with it.  And that was over an hour ago!

39 Interesting little anecdote. As many of you know, I am surrounded by leftists in academia. One of my neighbors, who is really very sweet, an Indian woman was telling me about a horror story she and her husband are going through. Apparently his elderly father, who has early stages of dementia, married his caregiver and she has been robbing him blind. When they took this woman to court to get a restraining order on her, the judge seemingly all threw the case out and sided with the woman. My neighbor was aghast not so much that judges could be corrupt but that "this judge was a Democrat!" She honestly believed that all Democrats were fair and just and only Republicans could be corrupt and evil. I smiled and said "bless your heart" as I tried to delicately put her some knowledge. Amazing.

Did you explain to her that many of us were once Democrats but that after enough occasions where reality contradicted the Democrat world view, the world view finally shattered?  Let her know that it is OK with you if she is not ready for this one incident to change her way of thinking.  The first crack is there and if she keeps her eyes open and does not go back to sleep, she will see plenty more evidence that her mental model of the way the world works does not match up well with the way the world works.

81 More on the mysterious priest who helped the MO girl after a crash and then disappeared and some speculation about who it might be. Apparently the incident happened on the feast day (August 4th) of St John Vianney who was a parish priest-and a very holy man-(One of my favorites in the Calendar of Saints) so some suggest it might be him. Others say St Padre PIo who in his lifetime could appear in two places at the same time. Others suggest other possibilities. Maybe an interested RC could address this, but I have never heard of Saints appearing to people. I've heard of this happening with the Virgin Mary and even Jesus but not Saints. Is that known? Anyway, angels are not the same as Saints. Also, the girl wasn't Catholic, but it would make sense that if an angel were to appear he would be more likely to appear as an accident as a priest since they would be allowed access when others aren't, However, photos of the scene show no priest. I hope they don't find a actual priest because I like these kinds of mysterious awesome stories. Anyway, people seem to find it a hopeful account so I thought I'd share it again: http://tinyurl.com/mwz22sw

84 Email sent this day: Dear Sir, In regards to your Institute's "multi-culti" efforts, I offer this story to inspire: http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/worldnews/africaandindianocean/zanzibartanzania /10234368/Zanzibar-acid-attack-victims-doing-well-after-being-admitted-to-hospital-in-London.html There are other things I could point out--female genital mutilation in Somalia, lack of jury trials in Japan (though it has somewhat changed), pre-publication censorship in, say, England. What does America have to offer in compare with these wonders? By all means we should hire individuals who reflect this diversity, we should violate hiring laws to seek them out. Now, one may say this is all not fair, that your efforts never intended to celebrate this kind of "diversity". Exactly. But it never made a distinction, either. You cannot have it both ways. Your school's*** "multi-culti" efforts seems simply a platform where your staff gets to decide what is valid, and what is not, based upon their own personal preferences and whims, grounded upon some emotional treacly view of the world and a sophomore-level history class they got an easy B in. Sir, we are simply going to have this out. There will be no middle ground, no compromise, nothing but a hard fight taking place over a series of years. I believe in the best of Western civilization, in the best of the American Experiment. I think your staff simply believes in their own unique wisdom, that they have crowned themselves philosopher-sages, and that they are intent on promulgating it on the taxpayers dime. As to my other beliefs, creeds, and motivations, may you engage in whatever stereotypes you desire. Fight's on. Sincerely, [Redacted] ***Notice I do not say "ours".

85 Read a little blurb about the Sochi thing, and how NBC has sent memoes to all gay employees covering the Olympics saying that they'll have protection against Putin's "no gay propaganda" edict. You just know a bunch of them will make some sort of symbolic gesture while in Russia. Everybody dress as a rainbow day, or Pink Triangle Tuesday or something. I wonder what ol' Vlad will do then. The real Holy Grail for Welles aficionados would be the discovery of the lost footage from "The Magnificent Ambersons." But I think that that may been destroyed by RKO when Welles was away shooting another picture. He fought RKO tooth and nail to keep the original cut but they felt it was too long and not what they wanted editorially. Welles and others claim Ambersons would have been at least as good, if not better than "Citizen Kane" with the deleted scenes, but we'll never know, sadly.

Amazing. Did they bother to study any place where bicycle usage is very high?

Amsterdam comes to mind. A place with a couple million identical crappy bicycles. Nobody want to buy anything nice unless they're an enthusiast and watch it like a hawk.

What I was told repeatedly by residents there is you expect your bike to be stolen a certain number of times a year, at which point you go down to the swap meet and buy another indistinguishable beater for cheap. It might even be the one you lost. They shrug and look upon it as a sort of tax.

101 It took HOURS for the police to come- and do nothing.

Crimes discovered after the fact are prioritized low everywhere.  My casa got burglarized a few years ago and I discovered it hours after it happened.  Took a couple of hours to get a crime scene team investigator (singular, really just a regular deputy with fingerprint kit and training), and it only warranted that because some guns got stolen.

Other breakins in the neighborhood get a deputy who files a report so you can document loses for insurance.

Active hunts for burglars are largely a myth.

Thank god her boyfriend is the size of an NFL linebacker or we would have all gotten our asses kicked. Finished the evening in my neighbors Garage, the other neighbor my favorite redneck one, drinking beer while he bitched about his kids and his really hot adderal adicted fake titted wife. Watched the meteor shower while I pretended to listen to him. WEEE!! It's great to be back among the sane, Good morning.

178 I haven't kept up with figure skating this year,  but normally the top male contenders are usually the US,  the Russians,  and the Brits.

Since Cameron has signed on to the stupid gay marriage thing,  I think that the British skater will also be in danger of low marks.

Russian male figure skaters are usually straight, or at least portray themselves that way.  Culturally,  the ballet has been seen as artistic athleticism in Russia and hence the gay association hasn't been pronounced,  like in the US.

Should be an interesting competition both behind the scenes and on the ice.

182 137 #130 Unexpected consequences of Obama's gay propaganda: 1. Male figure skaters from the US will get lower marks. (Lots of judges are Russian, plus they still have influence in Ukraine, Belarus, etc.) Result: no gold medal for US. 2. Putin would have no qualms about cutting the NBC feed and packing the reporters out on the next plane. 3. Russian anti-American demonstrations will happen, guaranteed. 4. Possible harassment of American athletes at clubs and restaurants. Posted by: Miss Marple at August 10, 2013 09:43 AM (GoIUi) 5. Arrests of American athletes who are "out and proud". This causes an international incident which escalates into a crisis which culminates in a nuclear exchange. So we successfully avoided WWIII through 50 years of the cold war, then finally get it because Obama starts issuing ultimatums to the Russkies over gay athletes.

231 "Today's Challenge" @ 4:20, Nov 15, 2007 Making vice "chic" is a tremendous moral error, creating the malformed upcoming generation that never had a shot at "innocence" -- formerly the privilege of childhood experience (except in war zone). Americans today are comparable with Germans before the outbreak of WWII in what the people are willing to recognize as their own perversity, in the bad position of ignorance to what attrocities our government commits abroad. Our leadership is as grotesque in this very real comparison between nations and direction being taken. This new generation is prepared in a shallow and frivolous manner, incapable of handling the global challenges which are devastating. In general, what we have in our culture is the very bad combination of an undeveloped generation of perverse adults comprised of weak men and grotesquely aggressive women unprepared to face the very real threats bearing down on us. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zluo5_0ZjTA

THAT is the mark of artistry. Also, from a different online interview (3 parts by Q, more recent, at home) she also remarks that "art" is the abbreviation of "artifice" or the artificial replication, she spoke of the arts, and when rejecting the false humility that public figures project as a matter of "etiquette", she referenced 'Also Spracht Zarathustra,' Nietzsche's ridicule of the poet who muddies the water in order to appear "deep". Evidently, she's triumphed over identification as a "victim" since childhood, struck by polio for starters in life, facing death at such an early age and determining to live, to sing carols and strengthen her lungs when told she couldn't go home from hospital/iron-lung before Christmas, and to run again. Joni Mitchell is well worth any time spent sharing communication/thought.
