— Ace Not sure when on the show; he hasn't covered it yet, but he's teased it.
Apparently shaming the media has borne fruit. Tapper is somewhat "easy" in this way; he actually reads criticism of himself, and ergo he is actually susceptible to reason. By actually reading criticism, he can correct himself.
Note though that he says he had already planned on covering the story again; he did cover it once before on his show. But, either way, he's among the most fair journalists so that's why I call him "easy." It's the people who have decided to live entirely within the bubble who are the tough gets.
Let's just state the obvious: National political reporters are, by and large, socially liberal. We are more likely to know a gay couple than to know someone who owns an "assault weapon." We are, generally, pro-choice. Twice, in D.C., I've caused a friend to literally leave a conversation and freeze me out for a day or so because I suggested that the Stupak Amendment and the Hyde Amendment made sense. There is a bubble. Horror stories of abortionists are less likely to permeate that bubble than, say, a story about a right-wing pundit attacking an abortionist who then claims to have gotten death threats.
But now even the archliberal Anderson Cooper has been embarrassed into reporting on a serial killer.
Reading the grand jury report on the #Gosnell case. Where was the state oversight of this house of horrors? Details tonight on @ac360 8p/10p
— Anderson Cooper (@andersoncooper) April 12, 2013
Well, he seems to have found an angle on this that pleases him: The lack of proper state regulation and oversight. Of course. Why didn't I think of that.
But that is in fact a very real serious issue here -- the Grand Jury reported that this lack of oversight was by design, because pro-choice forces pressured state officials to no enforce any law relating to abortion -- so it's at least a fair entry into the story.
Still, it's amusing. Anderson Cooper's entree into the story is through the prism of "not enough government regulation." So perfect.

Unpack this particular POS for what it says about those who would rule
us.
In 1999, pro-abortion Pennsylvania officials decided not to inspect abortion clinics out of fear that a lot of the clinics didn't meet standards and so there would be fewer less abortion facilities and less access to women to have an
abortion. Grand Jury Report pp. 147
But, in order to ensure maximum access to abortions, pro-abortion
government regulators made a conscious decision to ignore what in fact were
unsanitary back alley abortion mills.
Best of hands.

The quote reminds me of my Dad. He just had surgery for kidney cancer, and the post-op said that it had not penetrated the "capsule", which is good. His cancer was contained. These tools hermetically contain themselves to keep out the bad mind-thoughts. That's bad, especially considering that facilitating the flow of information is sort of in their job description.

There is 'coverage'...and then there is 'coverage to help cover something up'.
During the Clinton years, it became common place for the media to 'cover' one of his scandals...very lightly cover it.
That way, they could say "Oh we covered that. That's old news now"...and then dismiss it.

Jane D'oh, Am not watching Tapper, but I followed him for some time on Twitter (until he banned me for criticizing him, as he has done to several people I know) and he was most emotional and focused when covering the death of Michael Jackson.
His degree is in POP CULTURE. He is most concerned about things that fall in that sphere. So I am not surprised he has produced a superficial and failing show.
He probably got so many tweets about Gosnell that they decided to use it as a hook to boost his abysmal ratings.

That the reason the health inspector didn't follow up on all the violations is because they knew it either wouldn't go anywhere and or they would take a lot of flack from their super for bringing it up.
Every Gov't has it's political appointee positions. We all know who gets those positions and why.
However they still do influence the people doing the actual day to day and many of them are also of like mind.
There are 3 main reasons the Media didn't want to bring this up:
1) It makes abortion look like the butchery it is
2) It's in a black progressive run city
3) the defendant is black, the employees who aided and abetted are black(some hispanic), the victims are black(or hispanic, some white), the neighborhood is black.
This presents abortion in exactly the light that the Pro Lifers have tried to shine on it for years. All in one story.

Tapper's main saving grace is the grabbing onto the thinnest appearance of ethics like a drunk on his last bottle of hooch.
Ace Tami gave me a clip showing President Giggles in the IL legislature basically more worried about the windy city's versions of Kermit G not being legally liable...

This is similar to my earlier point about "we'll then have *our* Mumia.....Ace the media makes sure the democrats never pay the price with the low information moderates for their alliances with brett K and Billy A ever....
In the book "Conspirata" on Cicero's fall from grace in Rome there is a charming chapter about marc Anthony wrecking a Patrician temple with a chain gang of tough low income noble born thugs wiielding hammers overnight....
I advocate no use of violence against people but if violence against property is okay in the case of the Weather Underground I am wondering what the moral imperative against destroying kermit G's office is precisely?

I've got 157 confirmed names. many who have gone on to higher positions.
The continued embargo by the Media is being orchestrated from some other listserv that took over from Klein's debacle.
I have pictures so that when they appear on tv you can find out who they are, who they used to work for and who they work for now.
It will be a lot of work to make up. I have all the "fixings" though now, I just need to gather it together and add some references and verify things.
It will be in the form mainly of a word document formatted as a table. Also a database file that can be used to quickly search for a name. And if anyone wants it the original files that I used to create it. I will also include where I can the references to the information.

Posted by: Dang at April 12, 2013 04:28 PM (R18D0)
There is no underground. There is no back alley. Abortion is legal in the USA and readily available - even government subsidized.
The left is in full court press mode on every single issue we hold dear, in the hopes of making any sort of reprieve/renaissance impossible.
WAR. Posted by: J.J. Sefton
I know that. That was always the line they used to sell the idea of legal abortion in the 70s. It would be safe and not in a back alley. It's the lie that got them rolling in blood money.

Well, he seems to have found an angle on this that pleases him: The lack of proper state regulation and oversight. Of course. Why didn't I think of that.
---------------------------------
While I would like a more all-encompassing look at this, his response is a start. Keep in mind that the pro-abortion side does their best to try and avoid any sort of the most basic health and safety checks of these sorts of places. The libs chip away at the foundations of our side bit by bit, piece by piece, until they've destroyed enough to take out a huge chunk all in one go. We need to be willing to do the same instead of aiming for "nothing but total victory!" in our counter-offensives.
And there do seem to be some hints that actually regulating abortion clinics would put a huge chunk of the baby-killing mills out of business for one reason or another. I can most definitely live with that.

There is a bubble. Horror stories of abortionists are less likely to permeate that bubble than, say, a story about a right-wing pundit attacking an abortionist who then claims to have gotten death threats.
I have the opposite view: it's precisely the horror of this that may burst their bubble.
This is the story that tells us normal people the most about the Left. If there are any with a conscience and a soul, they should recoil, and then cover it.
If this story won't do it, nothing will. The rest of the country, hopefully, will begin to catch on as to how much the MFM is really hiding from them as more testimony is released. I hope.

Outlaw abortion and you will start seeing a lot more Kermit's around. It's kinda why abortion was made legal to begin with.
And there's your change-of-subject attempt for this thread.
Also? A lie.
Abortion was made legal (nationally) because a woman (who now regrets it, by the way) decided that she "shouldn't have to leave the state" to get an abortion. Now, why would "leave the state" matter if it were just blanketly illegal? It wouldn't. She didn't want to be inconvenienced- the whole reason she was having an abortion anyway.
For the respective states- I really don't care if "outlawing abortion will create more Gosnells." First off, I don't accept that as true. I figure they're out there already, plying their trade legally (or, at least, with a veneer of legality). Someone who gets off on murdering babies isn't going to stop just because it's legal now.
Secondly, I don't believe that abortion is a binary issue. I don't want abortions of convenience. I don't believe in exemptions for rape (I'm not bringing up incest, because that was either rape, or consentual: if rape, then it would fall under any rape exemption, if conentual- I'm not sure why the fact you boinked your dad or brother has any bearing). I do, however, acknowledge the need for medically necessary (that is: physical health/life of the mother) abortions. I think they should be handled as sadly necessary medical procedures, not as elective procedures.

believe it or not, sooth, the first time I wrote that sentence, I said "kinda like now."
I then thought of how some medical residents were FORCED to perform abortions to get their medical license.
Those people would not do this without significant pressure from the "establishment," leaving a cohort of Gosnells to do their butchery.

From reading the comments, it seems as though Tapper missed a great opportunity to expose the evil of the Left. I refuse to watch the Communist News Network.
If I Twittered, I'd be all over him, asking why he didn't report on (insert gory part here)? Why did he ignore (insert deaths here)? Whatever happened to "if it bleeds, it leads?"
Sounds like a half-hearted effort on his part, which is understandable given his wife's association with abortion.
The Telling is proceeding.

As long as there is demand for abortions, there will be a supplier. Will it be an educated and regulated healthcare provider? Or will it be an outlaw who works in the shadows?
Why do I care? If you don't have the basic human animal decensy to know you shouldn't go around killing your own offspring, I don't have much pity for you when you end up going to some butcher because you waited until the 8th month to do it.
Want fewer abortions? Put your energy into education, birth control, and getting people out of poverty.
I'm sorry? Now I have to educate people so they know things that Lions, Tigers, and Bears (oh, my!) know on instinct? That is: don't kill your own offspring?

Why would a poor teenager who hates school anyway want to kill her chance to get her own apartment/EBT card?

Exactly. And any time I have an argument with a so-called progressive on this the term will be the killing of babies after birth. Not abortion. Murder.
Also, a question for the libs....at what age is it okay to kill a child? Newton was horrific all the more so because these were innocent little children. How about a baby after birth?
Is the defining factor whether the mother wants it or not? Does it not matter if the baby is breathing?

If the lack of state oversight becomes the hook for the MSM's coverage of this story, we may witness the ultimate media coverup: a veritable World Series of the media's favorite pastime - "Name. That. Party!!"
Because this whole filthy mess from the baby-mommas to the baby-daddys to the abortionists, to the community organizers, to the city and the state governments, to the national "women's" organizations, to the corrupt slimeballs in congress and the media to President of the United States and his wife, all of them who strive to create a climate in which this is permitted and covered-up - every single stinking fucking one of them -are DEMOCRATS first and foremost before anything else, and specifically before they will ever be honorable Americans. Damn them all to hell.

While we are all jumping up and down about CNN finally doing something on this story, remember that...nobody watches CNN anymore. In fact it is highly likely that the other networks and major dailies will now feel like, "whew, somebody we can say is MSM has covered this now, so we don't have to."
The Washington Post has its panties in a bnuch about a new Virginia law requiring abortions clinics to be regulated like hospitals and other medical clinics. Any story that does not fit the #WarOnWomen meme is just not going to be reported there at all.

I read about that eaerlier. There were protesters there screaming "Shame on You" and "You have blood on your hands" when the law was passed.
In their sick, twisted, ghoulish logic - passing this law means that there will be some abortion clinics shut down due to not passing these standards and therefore will deny women abortions.
The mind reels at these sick f*cks.

Abortion is the key for liberals. It gives the illusion of consequence free sex for both men and women. Which leads to all the societal pathologies libs used government to "solve". damage this, and you damage their big government movement.
