Kissing lions. What could possibly go wrong, right? Total fluke. One in a million deal. The lion was undoubtedly rabid or someone had slipped it some PCP or bath salts.

"Very friendly" lions would never do something like that unless something was wrong because...like...Simba and hakuna matada.

Went to TEFF near Wichita Falls, TX one year. A variety of big cats there. They'd rub against the cage so that you could pet and scratch them. Even went into a cage with a leopard.

It's really cool to pet a big cat. You have to stay focused though. And did I mention that they were in caged areas.

94 I was watching this grizzly documentary. BBC aired two last spring and I think this is a third by the same filmmakers. They give some bullshit excuse about the need to learn about the lives of these bears. Why? What do they do that is so important? The kill, they eat, they fuck, they eat their cubs, repeat. That's their lives. They say that the meadow where they are filming is so ideal, that it is crowded with bears and makes them more tolerant of other bears and humans. Oh, I don't think so... Seriously, if I were a bear, I would eat the entire salmon instead of just the skin and fat. That way I would be less hungry. I would not have sex. Sex just gets you killed in bearville. Two bears were actually doing it when a big male attacked. Then the big male and the female start doing it and three other male bears attack. So, you have 4 males fighting over one female who is ignore. Who cares if you don't pass your genes along? The bears have no idea of legacies. It's not like bear children take care of their parents either. Anyway, I would want to be fat and alive rather than starving and having rough bear sex and getting killed over it.

Hey Lincoln, just breaking your balls. I've done 200+ scuba dives and kayaking. Granted it was in Florida, not GWhite territory, but only saw nurse sharks rarely. Worst time? did a strong current dive and bad ankle prevented me from swimming back to the boat. So I inflated BC and drifted until the boat picked up all other divers and could come get me. The boat got smaller and smaller and I KNEW there were no sharks, because I was just down there, but I kept looking down anyway. It sucked, and the mind is a terrible thing.

Another disconcerting kayaking experience down the Mayaka river in Fl. Very large gators everywhere. They only let a few kayaks/canoes a day on the lower part of the river. Big, big gators would come up, check you out and disappear below the surface. Scared the fuck out of me. It didn't help that Ms. Guido kept throwing raw meat near my kayak.

There is an Elementary school right near me that hosts one of the myriad firework displays around here. Only got to walk out in the back yard to watch.

Never saw a place that has so many fireworks for so many occasions. Like a fixation or something.

325 Was playing golf at Oyster Bay near NC/SC line 20 years ago. I was lining up my approach shot to the green, standing about 7 yards from a small water hazard between me and the green.

I was looking at the ball, and looked up at the pin, to see a big honkin gator easing up my way. Didn't appear to have intentions for me. If he had, I would have been lunch.

Shocked to see that he could silently slide out of the water as big as he was, without me hearing one thing in the quiet of the course.

332 I was out in the Glades a few years ago doing some electrical work on some South FL Water Management pump station in the middle of nowhere, like 7 miles in along one-lane berms just crudely scraped with a dozer. You could only do about 10mph on them the rocks were so big.

The other guy had taken off for the day and left me to finish up.

There were like three 16' gators hanging only a few feet from the little 8x8 building eyeballing me for about an hour while I finished up slapping a panel back together.

I don't think my hammer drill would have been much against'em if they'd decided I was tasty.

    Ice cold Killian's and hot fireworks---not a bad way to spend an hour.

   When I say ice cold, the glass has been in the freezer, and your fingers stick to it. The beer is near slushy, too.

   What an incredibly GOOD taste the first sips are if they're that cold.
