Maybe it is just that I always end up with the cheap stuff - I am hardly wealthy - but every hard liquor I have ever drunk tasted like way too much rubbing alcohol to be pleasant.
I like rum in Sunny-D or coke but that is about it. Still better than retsina, though.

Not sure what purple stuff you are talking about. Sunny-D and the molasses in the rum just happen to go well together, I think. Orange juice might work as well, though I haven't tried it.

SIL #1 invited us to his engagement party today. It was to be a celebration of their engagement. That's what the invite said, serious you guys.
Last night, B'Gal says, "You know, I wouldn't be surprised if they go ahead and get married while we're there."
She nailed it. His older daughter got up after we all got there and said there'd be a slight deviation from the festivities. Sure enough, up walks a pastor with a Bible and does the deed. A bit later, the pastor walks up to SIL #1 and does a shot of tequila with him.
A good time was had by all.

Literally, that's the basis for the lawsuit. Posted by: Flatbush Joe

I've been in the employment business for 25 years. Every offer for person I ever placed with any company was contingent upon successfully completeing a criminal background check. Just because something popped up in the search didn't mean they weren't hired. It was taken under advisement, and decisions made accordingly.

The only low carb thing I like is Southern Comfort. And we have a bottle of lime S. C. that is very yummy with some club soda and ice.

Started it to lose weight.
Without carbs, I have a lot more energy and don't feel like I'm walking through water, IYKWIM.
Without any gluten or very small amounts of it (pizza on Fridays), my digestive tract is much much happier.

Sounds like mass murder.
My grandfather was a preacher, and stone deaf as he got old (90's). I was headed to a wedding once and he was at the house.
I said, "GRAND DAD, I'M IN TOWN TO SEE A FRIEND GET MARRIED."
He said, "Buried?"
I said, "NO. MARRIED."
He mumbled, "Married. Buried. It's all the same thing."

Anyway, our family had a hay and dairying operation of sorts on top of a mountain named after them, not very far from Hartford if you knew the right road. As a teenager, my grandfather would leave the farm every other day with milk on one end of the wagon and liquor on the other. His brother took the off-days, because running the whole route kept you away from home for a night; as I understand it, the brothers had a little agreement on who they stayed with so they wouldn't overlap too much. There were still maids back then. Lot of 'em.
And one of my grandfather's hooch customers was Mark Twain. That's it.

And speaking of beer, I think we should all go out and have one on the 5th of October, around 7 PM, at Big Boss Brewing Company in Raleigh!

I drank half a bottle of cheap single malt scotch last night. I must be getting old because I fell asleep in my chair after half a bottle of scotch over ice. I usually drink my whiskey neat but when you go that cheap it's a good idea to cut it with a couple ice cubes.
Might pull out some Rebel Yell bourbon tonight. Now there's something that you don't have to cut with ice cubes!

Booker's Bourbon.
Averages 129 proof, aged 6-8 years, goes straight from the barrel to the bottle.
This is the finest bourbon I've ever tasted.
A word of caution: drink a bottle of this fine bourbon and your 90-proof will taste like iced tea.
Oh, and for you Scotch snobs....Your fine Scotch "whisky" is aged in barrels which used to hold Bourbon.
You're welcome.

Ahhhh...a fine single malt. Presently I prefer Ardbeg Uigeadail. It's an Islay single malt and is quite excellent with the hand rolled cigars from the old Cuban gentleman down the street.
Now...for a sipping Rum...Ron Zacapa Solera Gran Reserva - I believe it is a 25 yr old rum. It is fantastic also with those same hand rolled cigars.
