— Ace Instant amnesty in exchange for... eventual border protection, according to a plan cooked up by seven "veteran amnesty supporters" plus Marco Rubio.
Instant amnesty, in exchange for nothing but a promise?
We've never heard this before.
The amnesty is instant and the border controlling will never come.
Liberals are assuring other liberals that the "border control" elements of this plan are in fact a sham to provide some cover to Republicans.
Supposedly a commission will determine if border control has proceeded sufficiently so that the second tranche of the deal can go through (full citizenship), but...
As Sharry [an amnesty advocate who supports the plan] put it, Democrats realize that they can’t “allow the commission to have a real veto” over setting in motion the path to citizenship. He noted that Dems see the commission as “something that gives the Republicans a talking point” to claim they are prioritizing tough enforcement, giving themselves cover to back a process that “won’t stop people from getting citizenship.” However, Sharry added: “The details of this are going to matter hugely, and we’ll have to fight like hell on the individual provisions.”That said, Sharry concluded: “This is a left of center framework.”
Ross Douthat observed on Twitter that the GOP is rushing heedlessly to increase the vote share of Latinos, without doing anything else to actually attract them as voters.
And, in fact, as a party we can't do anything to attract the majority of them as voters -- they're pro-government, pro-welfare-state, and all the rest.
They're also increasingly pro-choice and liberal on social matters.
So after we extend citizenship and voting rights to 11 million Government Clients, what's Step 2 of our master plan?
Maybe this is our plan for destroying ObamaCare.
Comprehensive immigration reform could make millions of people suddenly eligible for assistance under President Obama’s healthcare law, assuming a final deal paves the way for undocumented immigrants to receive papers.…”We have to figure out a way in which [undocumented immigrants] incorporate themselves into the larger workforce, and into our society in general, and not be a burden,” said Rep. Luis Gutierrez (D-Ill.), a leader in the immigration debate.
“Do we want them to go to the exchanges? Absolutely we do — if and when they don’t have healthcare through their employer,” he said.

We could win the Latino vote along with the black vote if we would grow a pair of balls and use "racist" advertising in the midterms.
Here's how it should go:
"This is LaShawn. He's 22 years old and he graduated from Martin Luther King High School in Washington D.C. Only 1 in five black students graduate in D.C."
(Shows LaShawn trying to read a "Dick and Jane" book and fucking it up royally.)
Democrats protecting the teacher's union did this to LaShawn. Now the democrats want to do this to Juan too.

Because here is the real deal: The GOP elite have a promise from Dem elite that the Dems will not run a Hispanic in 2014.
(Yes, yes. I know, it's as real as their promise for border control.)
But, there you have it. They've got Rubio (maybe Martinez) lined up for VP and they really, really (wish) believe the Hispanics will vote R just because of skin.
Never mind the long, long history of Democrat voters always, always rejecting the ethnic Republican who looks like them in favor of the lily white Democrat man.
So, not only are they selling out for non-binding promise, it's a bitterly hollow promise built on a blindly obvious false assumption.
That's the long game (scam) that is going on here.

It was, I opined at the time, perhaps the last plausible chance to avert a huge demographic and political shift towards the Democrats in the oncoming 21st century.
Well, that idea didn't get any traction. Instead, the GOP decided that the sure-fire, can't-miss thing to expend their political capital on was to impeach Billy Jeff for getting a blowjob from a fat chick. This was, they assured me, going to be a huge success and would ensure the humiliated retreat of liberalism from the national stage.
Thanks guys.

I'd say this. Rubio was tea party before the tea party even fucking existed. I'm willing to give him the benefit of the doubt.
So I'm willing to watch. The problem is that we get in this "boy's club" of congress and in the meantime they completely fuck us in the ass.
They did it to Reagan with the tax increase; spending cuts never came.
They did it to Reagan with original amnesty - even fucking Pat Buchanan backed that - but enforcement of the border never came.
The only way to do this is to fucking do border control FIRST and make its provisions automatic, and then we'll see.
If it's a halfway decent proposal, and they fucked over zero's grandstanding, then it would be beautiful indeed.

I've been of the 'controlled let it burn' plan whereas the burn would allow the right minded side to take back our Country after the consequences were felt by those not paying close attention.
I am sorry to say that I am close to the Let The Motherfucker Burn To the Ground plan and everyman for themselves. This is selfish on my part since I have no children but I can't help feel how I feel. I really want to believe there is something left to fight for but everyday I see us taking one step forward and two steps back.
I try to remind myself that we won half the States in the last election, we have 30 governorships, that the NRA doubled their membership, that we have a lot of conservative patriots who are now citizens that served our Country in Iraq and Afghanistan.
I also see though that we are on our way to approving gay marriage, we have allowed gays to serve openly, we now allow women in combat, there will be sometype of infringement on the 2nd amendment, there are more takers than ever before, taxes are increasing on the producers and now we will provide citizenship to illegals while those who did the proper procedures get or got screwed. Our captialist country is more socialistic than ever before.

The problem is conservatives believe in growing prosperity.
If we didn't, we could explain to minorities here that adding 11 million people would just take their jobs, their money, their benifits and that they and their families would be better off sending these people back.

What's more, no matter how the legislation is written, the Democrats/Progressives/Amnestyites will blame the "racist, Hispanic-hating" GOP for not certifying, validating, amnestying the illegals faster nevermind what the legislation says. If the law (as if it mattered) stated some 5-yr. waiting period somewhere, the Amnestyites would say it needs to be three or you're racist!!! If the GOP agrees (for the pragmatism, you see) to three, the Amnestyites will say it needs to be one. Replay this until the politicians' "consensus" is that nothing less than immediate amnesty is acceptable. And if immediate amnesty is accepted, then each of the amnestied must be allowed to import their parents. Then brothers and sisters. Then grandparents. Then second cousins and their closest friends. Anything less is Hispanic-hating racism!!!
It will never end - EVER - until every legal American is shafted, bankrupted, and demonized to criminality while the nation is gutted of its sovereignty, law, and justice.
Amnesty is the ring. It is the only ring. And the government, BOTH sides just as before, is uniting against legal citizens to grab it. Turns out, Rubio is the gloss the GOP (and more specifically, Hobbit-detesting Grahamnesty and McAmnesty) have been waiting for to pass yet another sh*t-sandwich.

As I recall, what Mitt said was, "I agree with the President."
A bunch of times, too. And then he wondered why conservative voters did not turn out for him.
Now we learn from one of Mitt's sons that Mitt "never really wanted to be President" and just ran because he thought it was the thing to do next.
We used to talk about "fire in the belly" as a key thing for a Presidential aspirant.

"They've done an absolutely terrible job in making their case to the public," said lobbyist Tom Archer, president of the Our Values, Our Texas group that was among more than a dozen that testified to budget-writers in support of reversing the school cuts last week. "Even [school administrators] are telling me that."
Education leaders say they tried. And tried.
They point to empty campuses in suburban Austin where the district can't afford to open the doors. In San Antonio, the fourth-largest school district in Texas spent $261,000 implanting tracking chips in student IDs, an investment Northside officials say was made to boost attendance records and potentially wring another $1.7 million out of the state.
----
Ya see, Texas is gonna install trackin chips on them Mezzcans so's they can track 'em. That way they can give 'em more stimulus funds.

That's not what it says.
It actually says there is a probationary status, which never goes anywhere unless the border is secured, based on a set of agreed upon measures.
We can argue over measures. We can argue over probationary- which is what liberals are worried about. Because at least they know it's not amnesty.
But go ahead. Don't let me stop the feeding frenzy.
Generally in my profession we try to read the details of complex agreements to understand the whole. Apparently that's not a practice around here.
Because, ya know, what's going on right now with illegal immigrants is just peachy.

Some of us conservatives think building a fence is a terrible idea. For one, it is impractical. In fact, none other than Rick Perry said so. Now if you are using fence in loose sense to mean physical where appropriate and virtual for most areas, then that may be a good idea. But I could not support the building of a physical fence along the entire boarder. And there are many conservative arguments in favor of not building such a fence.
Nor do I find it conservative to simply say things like E-verify. Conservatives should naturally shy away from government regulations. This is simply another form of regulation. Conscripting the private sector to do the job that the government doesn't want to do. Even if I concede that this is effective in reducing immigration, I would not support it.
So what is my solution. I'm not sure I have one. I'm still not sure one is needed.

We would be in a much better position to achieve immigration reform if the Obama Administration had spent that last four years enforcing federal law rather than dismantling it. Brave immigration agents have been left with no recourse but to sue their own Department head, simply so that they—like any other law officers—will be allowed to do their jobs. Just last Friday a federal judge made an important preliminary ruling in their favor. The ICE union also held their own agency head, John Morton, in no confidence with a unanimous vote. The first task for every media agency in the country ought to be to study this lawsuit, to listen to the long-documented complaints of ICE agents, and to review the record of stymied attempts at congressional oversight of DHS.
No comprehensive plan can pass Congress as long as this
administration continues to defy existing federal law. What good are
promises of future enforcement when the Administration covertly
undermines those laws now in place?

Just as this is coming up, the TARS (Tethered Aerostat Radar System) is coming down across the southern border. March 15th (or 31st, depending on the site), the only way we have to detect low flying aircraft as it approaches the border gets shut down. The replacement ground based system is still in its early testing phase.
And the ground based system won't be able to look as far across the border as the TARS, because the TARS was a look-down system.
So let us recap. Amnesty dangled in front of illegals while the border is thrown open ever wider. Americans under threat of disarmament. Representitive government no longer representing half the citizenry.
It won't be too long before we hear the distant rattle of musketry, I suspect.

No he won't. He charged anti-illegal alien voters with racism/Hobbitism when he tried the last sh*t-sandwich under Bush and he was reelected. All he has to do is throw out some red meat (say, a pro-military policy) during the primary period and he'll be good to go. He did this to great effect already so history shows he won't be punished enough to get kicked out. Incumbency is a stone cold b*tch to overcome.

Last I checked enforcing existing laws re immigration *is* a conservative position. So I'm not sure where you're getting the idea that border fences and e-verify are un-conservative.
----
The border fence itself is not a law. And e-verify is basically a consription on the private sector.
Here are my arguments against:
- Border - it is expensive, unlikely to be as effective as advertised (building taller ladders as Perry says), and frankly, I'm not sure I want my country to be bordered off. The last one is a soft argument, which I could move one, but all things being equal, I'd rather not live in a wall-ed of state. Just feels like something the other side did, not us.
- E-verify. I am against just about anything that tells private businesses what they must do to hire someone. I hate the idea that they have to request I-9s and pay taxes for employees. This strikes me as an added burden.
These may not persuade you, but I think they are perfectly conservative/libertarian reasons to oppose them.

As soon as you saw that McCain and Rubio were in this group it should have been obvious what the outcome would be. Anyone remember McCain's exasperated outburst in 2008 about the border fence "Then build the damn thing"?
I don't get this fascination with Rubio. On paper he may look promising but in reality his is just another politician angling for a better gig. Every time I look at him I am reminded of an arrogant sob from highschool who thought the world owed him everything just because he was so wonderful. SCOAMF has sold them out and they don't even realize it. Every time I hear one of my relatives talk glowingly about him, I just laugh. They are sooo fucked.
By the way, if one were to drive around Southern California during the week and happen upon road construction...99.9% of the time the workers are Latino. Can't recall the last time I saw a white, Asian or black working road construction. Hell, a good portion of the LAPD and Sheriff's department are Latino. Shaking my head at the insanity. No - it's a matter of tradeoffs between burdens and benefits.
Clearly we could save a whole lot of money by disbanding police forces and the military but pretty much only Libertarians would ever argue for that.
Likewise if you have a law against hiring illegal aliens, there has to be some means of enforcement other than the honor system. That means someone somewhere has to actually verify that all hired employees are legally allowed to work here. Yes this is 'government regulation' but without it (or something similar) the law is essentially unenforceable. And lawlessness is NOT a conservative value.

re the land, why not Alaska? The issues with dollar dropping in value, for land wouldn't this actually be good? In theory you could have large mortgages and after hyper inflation be able to easily payoff a fixed mortgage. Buy a zillion acres of land and when shit hits the fan you could sell off some tradeable assets like cattle to pay it off.

Latinos at large, especially illegals, are far more likely to be liberal than conservative voters. Rubio HAS to understand this, so what is his real motive?
Does he plan to follow the Chris Christie trajectory? These sort of moves may make you wildly popular in small pockets of the country but not where you want it or where it counts.

You're guessing low.
According to Gallup, 150 million adults (not including their children) say they'd like to immigrate to the US if they could:
http://tinyurl.com/6rtwczu
WASHINGTON, D.C. -- About 13% of the world's adults -- or more than 640 million people -- say they would like to leave their country permanently. Roughly 150 million of them say they would like to move to the U.S.
150 million, double that for their children. The US population is about 314 million.
Posted by: Hollowpoint at January 28, 2013 02:24 PM (SY2Kh)
So since I live in the People's Soviet Socialist Republic of Commiefornia, I have to laugh when I hear stupid shit like this.
The local liberal literati always sniff that it's "racist" to oppose mass immigration.
And then sometimes literally without even pausing for a single breath, they segue into denunciations of how "growth" is ruining the quality of life in Commiefornia with pollution and overcrowding and traffic and paving over wildland.
Dumbfuck much? The "growth" in question is essentially 100% driven by immigration.

Zero's main plus is that he has so fucked our economy, migration across the border is actually fucking negative.

Four years ago (and in some cases, longer) some very alarmist voices started popping up here. I never dreamed they were anything more than tin-foil types. I mean, martial law? Repealing the 22nd? Confiscating guns? Please. That shit just doesn't happen in the States.
Yet here we are, in 2013, actively discussing amongst ourselves whether or not we are actually willing to die on this hill. Not in some romantic metaphorical sense, but in a stone-cold literal one. That's scary.
What's scarier is that those alarmist voices don't sound alarmist anymore. They sound practical. It can be easily argued, through well-supported empirical and tangible facts that Obama's entire Presidency has been leading to this: the disarming and enslaving of the populace.
The media has become an arm of the government in a sense never before seen. Bias we've seen. Advocacy and collusion we haven't - not on this scale.
The takers have overpowered the makers in terms of voting demographics and planted our economy into what is - in my eyes - an unrecoverable spin.
The government has begun making all the moves one would expect if they were to declare themselves above the people. They are positioned to declare us their subjects, and half of the country is screaming in ecstasy. The other half is marveling at how easily it's happened, mourning the Republic, and quietly preparing for what looks more and more likely to be the inevitable showdown.
When I swore my oath, I always knew it was possible for me to die defending my country. I just never imagined it was possible for me to die defending it from my government.
And so to the question: Is this a hill I'm willing to die on? Is this a hill I'm willing to spill my blood in the literal sense of the word? When the metal meets the meat, am I prepared to give my live protecting my country from itself?
Yes.

We are not likely to see such mass immigration as we did because they just aren't making that many fucking mexicans anymore. And they effectively, or pretty much, wall of their south because it is so much of a nightmare down taht way as well.

Um, you need to actually come down here to the border. The Tucson sector has been just as active as it has ever been. Its just the USBP hasn't been trying real hard to catch them. If you don't catch them, you can't report large numbers caught, and your politician bosses get to go on TV and pat themselves on the back for being such a great deterent.

You really are an idiot living in your own world. Come to West Texas pal. Hospitals are full of people that can't pay. Schools are full of kids who are illegal themselves or whos parents are illegal. One town I'm familiar with has had to layoff 200 teachers because they simply don't have the money to serve these students. The hospital in town runs constantly in the red and only survives by jacking prices up on everybody else. Law enforcement is unable to keep up with increased activity in town from drug cartels/gangs. They even reach out to get help from Parks and Wildlife, game wardens helping to track bad guys down. People in town who were previously employed, not anymore, sorry, immigrants have your job now. Unemployment is high. Things only recently started improving because of the fracking.

So yes, lets of course act like retards and bigots at the very mention of immigration reform. That's worked so well for Republicans after all.
Trying to negotiate the right bill is one thing. Flaming any discussion is contra-intellectual and self-destructive.

When Democrats are in power = jails full of gun owners

OK children. I was there when Reagan got screwed on "sure we'll protect the border later...much" and it never got done.
Rubio knows it as does the entire Republican Party. Thanks legions of Captain Obvious'.
Now we see where the negotiation takes us. Ya know, as opposed to the we should deport everyone, take no prisoners, I'm from Mars approach.

ENFORCE THE CURRENT LAW half as well as you enforce the current tax code.
(See what I did there?)
Instead of TSA waiting in ambush at our airports, they should get new ICE shirts and vans to deliver them to EVERY REST STOP this side of ANY BORDER.
Within three days we be blessed with fewer idiot groping reports, high school kid unemployment below 4%, and almost no day workers wandering around downtown San Antonio.
WOO HOO!

Your first comment in that thread:
"Correct me if I'm wrong, but Jews and the Media, isn't that one of those conspiracy facts? ...
I don't see it as a conspiracy to puppet master the
world, it just is what it is. They are Jewish, they have a certain
world view, and their media is biased in that direction.

Your last post in that thread:
"This is such horse shit. And you claim to be an expert on this
subject? I can't even count the number of bases in the Middle East I've
been on. All of that is by and large for Israel.
Our government has officially stated that 9/11 was a result of blowback from our relationship with Israel. ...

Why are you so obsessed with Jews and Israel?

That asinine Hugh Hewitt was talking on the radio about this - he's all pumped up. He thinks we should also give school vouchers to the illegal kids 'cause they're going to need to go to good schools too!

That's 'cause the douchebags in charge of the Republican Party think that giving mojados a path to citizenship is the way to buy the Latino vote.
It wasn't before, and it isn't now.

Inertia.
Silicon Valley long ago established itself as the place to be for high-tech, and even though this place is clearly not what it once was, a lot of people still buy into it. Then when those boneheads finally get here, they get to experience the $3.50/gal gas, the high rents, the high home prices, the high utility prices, high taxation, and the pervasive government nannying.

So after we extend citizenship and voting rights to 11 million Government Clients, what's Step 2 of our master plan?
Not sure ace, but step 3 is "profit"
