The Economy's Bad Because of the Sequester or Something
— Ace

Have you ever noticed that all the "Good Stuff" Obama has supposedly done for the economy has no impact, or has impact years later (and possibly in decades to come), but all of the Republicans' economic initiative have immediate impact, and even retroactive impact (People were worried about the coming sequester and so stopped investing in biodegradable cars or whatever)?

Thus Obama's record is still an asterisk -- *, remains to be seen; only the economy of 2038 will tell -- but we know for a fact the Republicans' initiatives are colossal failures, because, Look! The economy is a shambles. Plainly this is the work of Republicans, and not Barack Obama, whose policies, again, will not begin to take hold until we've got Chick-Fil-A on Titan.

24 One can only not report the truth for so long. 20,000 laid off because of Obamacare mandates last month. Yet ABC reported on its morning show that the economy grew by 190,000 jobs or so. The actual figure was 88,000 jobs were added for a net loss when compared to new UIB claims. The BLS reported that the unemployment rate was down. By removing for the 10 consecutive quarter or so  more people from the ranks of the employables from those that  claimed UIB.benefits. It is all lies and prevarication.

49 Here's the thing about President Incomplete Grade: On economics, there is no grade, he's a failure. Keynesianism is supposed to work RIGHT NOW! That's the whole point. Keynes wasn't willing to wait for long-term effects, you stimulate the economy now and pay it off in the future. Keynes wasn't a complete idiot, he knew the bill would come due, but the idea was that you stimulate, enjoy the economic turnaround and pay it off in the good times. There is no "just wait for it..." in Keynesian economics. If you don't see the effects right away, you never will.

Posted by: AmishDude at April 05, 2013 01:16 PM (T0NGe)

50 "(People were worried about the coming sequester and so stopped investing in biodegradable cars or whatever)?"

It is not really to laugh, this business of biodegradable cars.

I have seen very real instances where people had to buy things like costly new wiring harnesses for their car engines because the insulation on the wiring that came from the factory had been produced in accordance with "green" biodegradability mandates.

Meant for the wiring to safely biodegrade once the car was in the junkyard. Unfortunately, the bacteria didn't get the message to wait, and they got right on the biodegrading business while the cars in question were still very much in service.

Result? Yet another fat "green" tax. Not labeled as such. But very real money no longer in the pockets of those car owners as the result of government action.

The best part is, these insane "green" mandates are still coming down the pike at a furious clip, and the people pushing them are, as often as not, so-called "conservatives". Can't buy a 100w incandescent bulb any more? That's not Obama. That was George W. Bush, baby.

nationalization of student loans was snuck into ObamaCare.

It was part of a whole big mostly-bullshit "energy efficiency standards" bill.

108 The economy is bad because communism doesn't work, has never worked, and will never work in the future.

In the words of a great Frenchman back in the old days when the government instead of protecting citizens from the looters becomes a looter and aids the looters the entire thing will collapse.  The only question is how long it will take.

Our government started down that path in the 30s.  Itw as saved at the end of WWII because we were the only economy left.

Since then it has gotten worse with added buisness killing regulations to make it even worse.  In the word of MONTY; we are doomed.

120 The light bulb ban was Kate Upton's uncle's bill.  It passed the House with overwhelming bipartisan support.  The RINOs sold us out so what was Bush supposed to do, veto it?  He wasn't exactly a big conservative himself.

In 2011 The House passed a spending bill that cut off funding for enforcing it.  They knew the Senate would kill it. It was a pure POS hype.  The Senate hasn't passed a spending bill in 5 years now.

Posted by: Vic at April 05, 2013 01:44 PM (53z96)

121 Upon further research, it appears that Bush was okay with the light bulb ban. Never mind. I figured it was one of those things he didn't have the political capital to fight. Well, one of the reasons I hang out here is so I don't stay dumb.

All the more reason he should have vetoed it. Let the POS pass by veto override.

He didn't veto it because he didn't veto anything. He didn't veto anything because he was essentially a squish.
