The End of the Filibuster
— Ace

Video below. After thirteen hours, Paul yield the floor, and went to the bathroom.

Meanwhile, Dick Durbin, the man who called our troops Nazis, Soviets, or Khmer Rouge, is now big on the president's claimed murder-authority.

5 Ace, heard Rand say on Beck this morning that a "yea" or "nay" vote on his part for Brennan depends on getting answers from the DoJ.

He may yet vote to confirm Brennan.

47 Serious Question: Is this mainly an issue of "war" vs. "crime?" So, say in the Civil War, the Federal Government could blow up as many US citizens fighting for the South as they wanted to, but if some dude is holed up in a bunker in peacetime, we don't want a drone strike? Because I sort of get the idea that if we had a cell of 30 communist rebels holed up in a bunker in Berkeley that we could drone attack them if we had a state of war. (Say there were hundreds of these Obamaite cells who were fighting against the government in 2016 after the sweeping elections drove the Democrats out of power.) Now, if you just had one cell and lots of time, you would not use a drone. You would throw in tear gas until a fire started burning them all up, but anyways. Is this the other's sides view? That drones would be legal in some cases? Like against American quislings who were fighting in the UN Occupation Forces but not against OJ in his white Bronco?

58 I recalled the OUTRAGE that descended from The Left over AMERICANS having their PHONE CALLS drone-striked by the Evil Booooosh. " Democrats accused the administration of trampling constitutional rights in the name of national security. ''This administration feels it's above the law, and the American people and our Constitution pay the price,'' Sen. Edward Kennedy, D-Mass., said. ``This is Big Brother run amok.'' Sen. Dianne Feinstein, D-Calif., said Bush may have broken the federal law restricting domestic surveillance and violated constitutional protections against intrusive searches by approving the wiretaps ''We are a government of law. The Congress was never asked to give the president the kind of unilateral authority that appears to have been exercised,'' she said. Bush declined to discuss the substance of the newspaper report, but he said he tries to strike a balance between protecting Americans from terrorist attacks and safeguarding civil liberties. ----------------------------------- Drone Strikes? to Kill? Totally cool.

98 Does anyone upset about MSM ignoring Filibuster think they'd cover it truthfully or fairly? Those who talk about it control the narrative

If they told the truth about it Satan would be buying a parka.

99 Does anyone upset about MSM ignoring Filibuster think they'd cover it truthfully or fairly? The opening sequence on the MSM station my wife turns on in the morning... was --- wait for it --- the very end when he announces that nature is calling. They reduced the entire 13 hours down to the need to pee. *That* was the story.

100 #91  I am hopeful the longer this goes on, Jane,  that something will surface which causes a switch in votes.  Brennan is indeed evil.  Plus I want to know if he was running his own mini-war over in Libya without anyone knowing.

101 Yesterday's filibuster was the perfect environment for all of the conservatives to click their collective gears in place and support Rand and the Constitution. A way to show solidarity.

102 By the way Rush is saying that the two quislings are acting out out of jealousy. I agree. They don't like sharing the spotlight.
Posted by: chique d'afrique (the artist formerly known as african chick) at March 07, 2013 12:38 PM (6zgse)

That is what I was thinking.

Spotlight off them, can't have that. Or, whoever they are campaigning for, because it certainly isn't Rand.

Posted by: beach at March 07, 2013 12:41 PM (XYSwB)

They look stupid right now. Maybe if shit like that keeps happening they will grow some balls or quit.

Posted by: The Jackhole at March 07, 2013 08:46 AM (nTgAI)

103 I was listening to Rush and he mentioned that the Presidential motorcade to go out to dinner was 20 cars. What. The. Actual. Fuck. Here's a question, why couldn't they have had dinner at the White House? You know to save some money since Sequestrationgeddon and all that.

Posted by: alexthechick - SMOD. Now with extra taunting. at March 07, 2013 08:47 AM (VtjlW)

104 Yep, I agree with Rush, too. They don't like that Rand is getting all this attention. They want to be king and queen of the Republican caucus. To actually push back against this is stupid politics. Rand is often an idiot, grandstander and has a weird sense of priorities, but this isn't the issue. Pushing back on this makes them look like lackeys of Obama. Huge mistake for Graham.

106 Instead of shunning Rand Paul for not keeping the filibuster going all night, or for (potentially) voting for Brennan if Obama fulfills his request, we should be focusing heat on McCain and Graham. At least Paul is doing something; the RINOS are actively undermining opposition to Obama.

107 Rand Paul will be on Rush's show next hour

Posted by: Marybeth at March 07, 2013 08:48 AM (Ks0w4)

108 What is it about the Paul name? It seems to inspire weird loyalty. He put on a show at the Hagel hearings, then confirms. More show here. Confirm later?

109 Gotta make McCain and Graham has beens the next time they're up.  What a disgusting display they put on  this morning.

School group, or other group? What are the teachers/leaders saying about the change in plans?

114 I'm not shunning Rand.  I was cheerleading the hell out of him all day and night.  I'm just disappointed that he voted to confirm an incompetent for SecDef and may vote to confirm an evil Israel/Jooo hater, who believes "jihad is legitimate" and has no problem with Hamas or Hezbollah.  That should scare the hell out of us all.

116 McCain and Graham sold their birthright for some feta cheese and arugula.  Bastards probably extended their pinkies too.

Posted by: Count de Monet at March 07, 2013 08:51 AM (BAS5M)

117 Jane D'oh, I understand your frustration, but I think we need to set our expectations appropriately. Given his rationale for voting to confirm Hagel, one would expect him to vote for Brennan. I don't agree with him, but like someone said upthread, elections have consequences. If Hagel and Brennan didn't make it through, do we really think we would get better nominees? I know that isn't much comfort, but it's the way things are right now.

House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi did not spend her night glued to C-SPAN 2 for Kentucky Sen. Rand Paul daylong filibuster, but she thinks her fellow Democrats could learn a thing or two from the Republican lawmaker's tactics.

"There are certain things that fall into the category of 'life is too short,'" Pelosi joked during a press briefing Thursday when asked if she watched Paul's filibuster. "I myself had four speeches to make last night. I was doing my own thing. I have my own responsibilities. I took note that it was happening, and let me say that I hope the Democrats will use the filibuster sometime as well in that way."

How about a bus tour showing the houses of the spending stars that need that chump change. And as a math assignment on the bus have them calculate the cost  of the white house tours as a percentage of the sequester or budget or even the obama's vacay fund.

Sorry, I don't really know.  iirc, the word "student" was used, but I don't have anymore information.  I'm on the West Coast, but my sister's family lives in Maryland.  I only found out about it when she mentioned it briefly during a family e-mail conversation.
