The Founding Fathers Were 'Extremists' [OregonMuse]
— Open Blogger

Who comes up with this stuff?

A Department of Defense teaching guide meant to fight extremism advises students that rather than “dressing in sheets” modern-day radicals “will talk of individual liberties, states’ rights, and how to make the world a better place,” and describes 18th-century American patriots seeking freedom from the British as belonging to “extremist ideologies.”

You'll love this:

The guide also repeatedly tells readers to use the Southern Poverty Law Center as a resource in identifying hate groups. The SPLC has previously come under fire for its leftist bias and tendency to identify conservative organizations such as the American Family Association as hate groups.

Yeah, that's a real reliable source.

Here is the link to the Judicial Watch post containing the training materials obtained from DoD.

Update: link fixed. Sorry

When i read a post here tellng me that a gov't agency is doing something to protect my inherent rights, or saving my tax dollars, or scaling back the size of the sleaze in D.C., then I'll be shocked. Until then, make me another bourbon and coke, and let it burn.

14 You know that the federal gummint is the enemy, don't you? Started in the 80s, with the leftist students from the 60s getting into the faculties of the universities. The leftist march continued into the public schools after the universities had been overrun. Then into all the branches of the federal gummint. Total cultural takeover. Straight out of the playbook of the Marxists. It is so embedded it cannot be routed.

What's much more likely is that you will be denounced by your neighbors, children or people that you work with, that you thought were your friends. It has come to me as a revelation this week just how isolated I might be in my views with most of my co-workers. People want a nanny state that wipes your nose and slaps your ass when you get out of line. We are a lost people.

79 And, it being MoDees so they just can't leave it alone, the curriculum takes several broad swipes at the confederacy. This in a course for military officers, who represent families of the old south at about double the natural distribution.

No matter what one's theoretical stand of the origins of the late unpleasantness, in dealing with officers as a class -- to include minority members -- there is no future in kicking around the confederacy. Somebody's gotten too cute by half here, just a little too eager for glory, overfull of his own line of...country.

The DOD training manual states extremists are

http://www.scribd.com/doc/162321199/2161-docs#page=35

a. Character assassination

Extremists often attack the character of an opponent rather than deal with the facts or issues raised. They will question motives, qualifications, past associations, alleged values, personality, looks, and mental health as a diversion from the issues under consideration.

b. Name calling and labeling

Extremists are quick to resort to taunts (e.g., pervert, racist, and crackpot) to label and condemn opponents and to divert others from listening to their arguments.

c. Irresponsive sweeping generalizations

Extremists tend to make sweeping claims or judgments with little to no evidence, often confusing similarity with sameness. That is, they assume that because two or more things are alike in some respects that they are alike in all respects.

d. Inadequate proof behind assertions

Extremists tend to be very fuzzy about what constitutes proof for their assertions and tend to get caught up in logical fallacies where they assume that a prior event explains.

Gee sounds like just about every liberal talking head on TV along with Obama and Hillary.

Why should I put up with this crap? ---- Prudence, indeed, will dictate that Governments long established should not be changed for light and transient causes; and accordingly all experience hath shewn, that mankind are more disposed to suffer, while evils are sufferable, than to right themselves by abolishing the forms to which they are accustomed. But when a long train of abuses and usurpations, pursuing invariably the same Object evinces a design to reduce them under absolute Despotism, it is their right, it is their duty, to throw off such Government, and to provide new Guards for their future security

90 "Donald Rumsfeld would not put up with this shit!"

Let's take a second and remind ourselves here that Rumsfeld reported to a President who:

(a) Declared repeatedly that "Islam is a religion of peace",

(b) Welcomed CAIR and other Islamic-terror front groups into the White House,

(c) Declared Pakistan and Saudi Arabia to be trusted allies in the "War On Terror".

So, no, boneheaded political correctness is in no way the exclusive province of the left. There are *plenty* of people on the right who have fallen into the same trap.

The difference in my view is that guys like George W. Bush honestly believe this crap about Islam being a "religion of peace", because they are bone stupid. Whereas the likes of Barack Obama don't believe that for a second, but will absolutely still parrot the line about Islam's peaceful intent, because Islam wars consistently upon the Western civilizations which the likes of Obama despise.

95 Flush him before the son gets home or make the pup do it himself?

When I was a little kid, I built a little wood coffin for a goldfish and buried it out in one of the hay fields in back of the barn.  Little kids do shit like that.

Today, I'd just give it the wild ride.

99 *reads descrip of "Doomsday Castle"* But the apocalypse he fears might shy in comparison to the clash of characters of his five children as they try to live and work together to prepare for the worst. If doomsday comes, will this family survive to rule the mountains, or will it self-destruct before the castle is ever completed? Um, if your family can't stand to be around each other, I don't think they'll survive doomsday.

103 The word "muslim" turns up three times in 133 pages.  Two of the references were in relation to Sudan, where they are described as the perpetrators and victims of violence.  The other reference is in a hypothetical where a male supervisor who makes disparaging remarks about women is described as muslim.

OTOH, "Confederate" turns up 10 times.

No. But maybe he could've kept his mouth shut and not said such utter baloney that everyone (including his mom) knows isn't true or even close to being true.

But then the Bushes are NE Republicans, that is to say Democrats without the minimum wage whining and being supported by Unions. They're supported by business. (not mom and pop business as they're the enemy of big business also.)

Who do you think is behind the drive to flood the country with low wage malleable workers who won't complain about slave wages and slave conditions?

I'm surprised they don't realize this won't work out like they think it will.

Think Cesar Chavez. And then of course their their voter base. Which no matter how they try to find substitutes, is mostly middle class white people. Small business owners, farmers, low rent entrepreneurs just eking out a living providing some mundane service to their neighbors. They are not happy about low wage illiterate hispanics flooding the job market and increasing the competition.

122 @117 MWR, no silly, roos are in Oz.

This isn't the first time for big cats to show up in Detroit (or Chicago). The estimates on how far bachelor western panthers have to range keeps going up. Detroit has had about one credible big-cat sighting a year for several years.

Meanwhile, the Apple-latchin' bobcat has resurged all the way to the Mich/Ohio border counties, so it's cats all the way down. Much smaller, not nearly as dangerous, but still upsetting to good order and small pets. Frankly I'm suspicious, which makes me...extremist.

124 Two rallies in Washington, D.C. in September offer us opportunities to send our rulers and enemies a message.

On September 10, a coalition of groups will hold an "Exempt America" rally on the Capitol lawn demanding Congress defund ObamaCare:

http://www.exemptamerica.com/

On September 11, "2 Million Bikers to D.C." will hold a counter rally concurrently with the "Million Muslim March:"

It's time to do more than just "talk of individual liberties, statesÂ’ rights, and how to make the world a better place.”

129 The reference to the Southern Poverty Law Center and their bias reminded me that SPLC is preparing a bias curriculum for the Common Core State Standards that gets to come in invisibly through the language arts curriculum.

Nothing like having the biased explaining bias to impressionable minds in a way intended to enrage the feelings. There's a reference to the curriculum on the One World Education website.

And that guide treats the Department of Defense as just another social and political institution to march through while changing perceptions and values.
