— Ace Well, it's off to the races for a media which desperately wants an Obama Comeback Narrative and also is a little punchy from having to deliver Obama's Bushian soundbites and pretend to not notice they were Bushian.
So now we're into the Media's OverPraising of Obama for once again choosing the easy way out and also for completely contradicting himself again.
@rdbrewer4 drafted the word "steely," as used to modify "resolve," and I offered to trade him my solid college prospect "masterful" for it.
I also drafted a potential Chris Matthews statement: "Did John Kerry just River himself a Royal Flush?!?!? Wow!" This statement has bad hands but blinding speed -- if we can train it to catch a ball, it could be a real offensive weapon.
Other things maybe worth discussing:
"The Five" mentions JohnE's post at Buzzfeed on Anti-War Celebrities who Apparently Have Been Kidnapped.
He got something like 600,000 views on that so that made an impact.
Laura Ingraham notes that Obama gaffed himself into a Red Line threat he never intended to follow through on, and John Kerry blundered the administration out of it.
Three dueling perspectives on Obama's Foreign Policy:
W.R. Mead makes the case for Stupid;
Norman Podhoretz makes the case for "Evil" (as in Obama is deliberately reducing America's influence);
and Glenn Reynolds makes the case for Stupid.
So there's your rubber match. "Stupid" wins.
John Fund, though, makes a case for Lazy.
Jim Hoft, a Warrior Among Warriors, is out of surgery, but not yet out of danger. Prayers, and visit Gateway Pundit: Those pitching in for Jim have a big story:

Alyssa Milano leaked a Sex Tape. Well... okay not really. She leaked something purporting to be a Sex Tape as a bit of social commentary. It's reasonably clever, at least for the typical crap that appears on Funny or Die.
As you can well imagine, RS McCain has continuing-round-the-clock coverage on the Alyssa Milano Sex Tape.
Including Alex Jones railing about it. All I'll say about this is that if Alex Jones thinks his ugly yelling (calling Milano a "War Whore," even though her video does not actually agitate for war) moves opinion, well, he's right. He just doesn't know the directionality of that movement.
There are a lot of people who seem to think that Yelling and Ranting are the Keys for Success. We call them Lunatics.
And while you're over there, Australia's new Liberal (that is, conservative) president has some hot daughters and you need to make yourself aware of that fact.
I hope this isn't rude but that Blonde? When I was done with her she'd look like Daffy Duck after a safe falls on him. You'd have to peel her off and shake her out like a beach-towel until she got all of her dimensions back.

Oh and on Saturday, when you guys don't read the site, I did a review of Now You See Me, the movie equivalent of Interstate Speeding Sex -- so dumb, but a fun way to kill the hours between Dallas and Houston.
And finally, there's not just a Rule 34 of Porn, there's a Rule 34 of Cute. I googled "dogs on a waterslide" and got a few hits.
They don't really slide down the waterslide here but look at these cute dummies trying to catch that hose-spray.

Both sides have long argued that Syria is small beans, and the real question in this entire confrontation has been Iran.
In contrast to Iraq where Bush acted forcefully to establish a precedent that we would not tolerate an imminent threat, Obama through his bungling has now reversed the card Bush laid down.
I don't support striking Syria. Nevertheless, the Russians have parlayed the opening Obama created to a precedent they can use if we ever get forceful with Iran. They will be able to come in and argue that they should referee a similar settlement about Iranian nukes (i.e., something that actually matters). Do we really want them being the arbiter then?
Since Sadat kicked the Soviets out back in the early 70s, the Russians have watched as their influence in the Middle East has constantly receded to almost none. Here goes President Duffer letting them back in.

The hypothetical future President may have to face the presence of Russian military in Syria and Iran when considering any punishment because of the "need to monitor compliance" with these agreements.
Russia is playing the role here that we usually play with Israel and its Middle East adversaries. It cannot help but diminish our stature and increase Russia's in the region.

I consider it to be outstanding, by far the best chain burger. I grew up outside DC where the original 2-3 were located and the franchises produce the same quality product I remember from the first restaurants 20+ years ago. That's good shit.
Fresh cut fries. Delicious Burgers with what you want on em. Clean, uncomplicated menu, and peanuts while you wait. These guys learned something that people liked (they ritually win many of the local washingtonian magazine type best burger contests), and have stuck with it.
Nice to see one still open here in downtown Detroit. I may be able to lay some smoke rounds in down there and make it to/from without getting shot too much. Glad I have this 23rd floor perch from which to plot.

The good news - I looked up the prices of 99% pure research quantities and even at the rapey prices they usually charge for those, its not all that expensive, so a commercial product should be pretty cheap

He could have said that five years ago---say, have Hillary make the demand by phone, or then-Senator Kerry make the request over the hummus and olives at dinner, or have Pelosi ask him when she met him, or even Obama himself, who said he'd be dealing directly with these dictators. Maybe Anna Wintour could have passed along a note when she was profiling the glamorous Mrs. Assad.
And that's all he wants now: To get out of his blunder, and have something he can call an accomplishment (even if it was accomplished by Putin, and is not even verifiable). Something that, if this was Obama's brilliant idea and this is all he needs, he could have said five years ago, or any time during the civil war to date, for Christ's sake.
And all Obama's hoping to get is what Assad will say is "This is all we have, swearsies" from his chemical weapons stores, with the civil war continuing, and how many thousands more killed and how much longer with Assad in power. Give the UN some chemical weapons, say they're all you have (there sure as hell won't be any comprehensive and exhaustive inspections, nothing as rigorous even as the UNMOVIC and UNSCOM inspections in Iraq, as long as the war goes on and as long as Assad reigns), and you may go on with your mass murder. THAT won't change his calculus.
