22 HELLLLOOOOO  Furlough Friday.  I sort of like sleeping in, but have a nervous twitchiness due to the fact that I should be at work.

Anyway, I told my wife last night that I would be watching a movie called Sharknado, and then explained the premise to her.  Naturally she rolled her eyes in disbelief, but when the movie was ready to start, she sat down and watched the whole thing with me.  I knew there was a reason I married her.

One disturbing thing though: the scene where Fin dumps gasoline in a pool and lights it to fry a big shark elicited a response.  "That would never happen" in referring to the way the fire simply exploded, to which I had to ask, "really, that's the part that was to unrealistic for you?"

The issue of race is clearly still entangling a society that likes to think of itself as post-racial.

The devil you know, which was Mubarak, wasn't perfect but was a lot fucking better than the devil they didn't know, which was Morsi and his MB asshole allies. 86 So that idiotic app? Can we just mark Chicago and be done with it? From what I can tell, anyone can mark anything and say anything at all. I love the whole oh they disappear after a short time thing. Right, so the purposes of this is what, exactly? This is trolling, plain and simple. From what it looks like, anyone can mark anything about anyone else. So, you know, it should be possible to mark addresses on an entire town. Not that I would advocate crowd sourcing a collapse of the app. That would be wrong. Also people who use white text on a black background shall be staked to the upcoming multifunction fire.

If you're a woman and you notice a guy following you, what do you do? Walk faster. You wouldn't relate to the desire to teach the mall cop a lesson. If you're a woman and you notice a guy meandering about your neighborhood, what do you do? Call the cops. Maybe keep an eye on him to see that he doesn't hurt your kids or somebody else's kids. Maybe all these 6 women have drug-addled punk kids who they are afraid will try to physically confront a neighborhood watch member with a gun, but I doubt it.

If you think this jury is going to vote to convict, you're not watching O'Mara's closing arguments.

And he isn't giving the prosecution much to "rebut".

That 4 1/2 minutes of absolute silence right before the break?

May have ensured a quick "Not Guilty" verdict.

There will be riots regardless of the verdict.       Like   I always say, there are riots when a sports team loses, and there are riots when a sports team wins.      The professional rioting class will take any opportunity to riot,   cuz free shit.

178 I have served on a jury in a criminal case--a young Black woman went to where her half-brother worked and shot him.  People's reasoning in the jury room is a strange thing to watch.  Men and women both wanted to convict on a lesser charge (jail time in Tulsa) versus higher charges (prison time away from Tulsa) so she could be closer to her kids.

180 My impression of women is that they are perfectly happy to pick the middle ground on any controversy. I am inclined to agree with this. I am known as the peacemaker in my family, and while I would not bring that into the jury box with me, lots of women would. But women can also get very Mama Bear and if MO'M can make them feel like they were there with Jorge, getting their heads beat against the sidewalk, they might just as easily acquit.

181 I was pondering this the other day, and although I believe myself to be a principled guy, I think I would be very concerned for my extended family's safety and security if I were a juror in this trial. 189 155 EC,

I lack an ACOG and am inexperienced with any of the modern reflex sights period.  Wife's experience is limited to the ACOG and m-68 system.  She went from shooting expert with iron to marksman/sharpshooter with ACOG/M68 of course part of that may also be the M-4 and attrition as well.

She and I both shot a lot more before Lad10077 graced us with his visit.

I'm pondering taking up 3 Gun as a hobby since the only component I lack is a competition quality pistol system which can be remedied fairly easily.

The See All Sight interests me from a practical exercise standpoint mostly in the AR/Remington 870 25-75 yard window with accurizing to center mass point of aim being the goal.

I'll need a lot of practice to transition my shooting muscle memory to keeping both eyes open.

They are very different.  I took a break from the thread to read through the Yahoo! comments on the NC abortion clinic law.  I do not understand how people can equate making an abortion clinic at least as clean and safe as any other ambulatory surgery center is hating womyn and their rights.  I honestly think that some people thing there is little more involved with an abortion than there is in removing a tampon.  They insert surgical instruments into a woman's body and they don't want the place to be clean, what?

Related  to the   Syrian rebels and our ongoing Middle East destruction / reclamation project.   Also related to the likelihood of our  Muslim  Brotherhood   'allies' turning into small d democrats eventually.

Andrew Bostom quoting P.J. Vatikiotis in 1981:

----- ----- ----- ----- ------ ------- ------

Authoritarianism and autocracy in the Middle East may be unstable in the sense that autocracies follow one another in frequent succession. Yet the ethos of authoritarianism may be lasting, even permanent. . . . One could venture into a more ambitious philosophical etiology by pointing out the absence of a concept of ‘natural lawÂ’ or ‘law of reasonÂ’ in the intellectual-cultural heritage of Middle Eastern societies. After all, everything before Islam, before God revealed his message to Muhammad, constitutes jahiliyya, or the dark age of ignorance. Similarly, anything that deviates from the eternal truth or verities of Islamic teaching is equally degenerative, and therefore unacceptable. That is why, by definition, any Islamic movement which seeks to make Islam the basic principle of the polity does not aim at innovation but at the restoration of the ideal that has been abandoned or lost. The missing of an experience similar, or parallel, to the Renaissance, freeing the Muslim individual from external constraints of, say, religious authority in order to engage in a creative course measured and judged by rational and existential human standards, may also be a relevant consideration. The individual in the Middle East has yet to attain his independence from the wider collectivity, or to accept the proposition that he can create a political order.

------ ------ ------ ------ ------- ------ ----- -------

(emphasis in original, get barrel ready)

Now  for  the  bad news:    The  Middle East  is  significantly less secular  than  it  was  in  1981.

1. What's scary is that the app depends on the user to determine whether or not to list someone. How many people do you know who are competent to judge another person's "stability"?

2. To the person who wrote the app, anyone who disagrees with him is by definition "unstable."
