The Most Honest Thing Ever Said On MSNBC
— andy

Reince Priebus stuck his head into the clown car today for an interview by Thomas Roberts. Unintentional hilarity ensued.

The interview was heated from the start, with Roberts claiming Obamacare has a ”mandate by the people reelecting the president and both houses of Congress,” leading Priebus to accuse Roberts of using “talking points.”

“They’re not talking points,” Roberts exclaimed, referring to a speech Obama gave in Maryland moments before the exchange. “That’s directly from what the president just gave a speech on.”

They don't repeat White House talking points over there at MSNBC. Nope, nosiree.

They just repeat the points Obama reads from the TelePrompTer.

These are two totally different things. Totally. You wingnuts are just too stupid to understand.

44 A talking point in debate or discourse is a succinct statement designed to support persuasively one side taken on an issue. Such statements can either be free standing or created as retorts to the opposition's talking points and are frequently used in public relations, particularly in areas heavy in debate such as politics and marketing.

Posted by: Boss Moss former editor of the Harvard Law Review at October 03, 2013 09:43 AM (KRpfP)

51 So, let me try to follow this. Congress makes the laws*, so we'll focus there. In 2009/2010 a majority Democrat House and a Filibuster-proof majority Democrat Senate passed the Orwellian named "Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act" (hereafter: P.P.Ca-ca). In November 2010, the American People were *SO HAPPY* with P.P. Ca-ca that they gave control of the House to Republicans and reduced the Democrat control of the Senate to one that is no longer filibuster-proof. Then, in 2012, they re-elected exactly the same government which they had been exhorting to clean up P.P. Ca-ca for 2 years. So that means the People love P.P Ca-ca so much that we can't possibly change any part of it, let alone repeal it completely. Is that his logic? *-Well, at least they did before His Imperial Majesty arrived on-scene.

Far from being a mistype, thatÂ’s the official number that Health and Human Services wants Americans to dial when seeking health care. ObamacareÂ’s national call center really did list its number as 1-800-318-2596, helpfully spelling out President Barack ObamaÂ’s tendency to blatantly flip the bird in plain view.

107 NYT reporting that anonymous House Repubs say Boehner has told them he'll fold on the debt limit if Obama holds firm. --- WASHINGTON — With a budget deal still elusive and a deadline approaching on raising the debt ceiling, Speaker John A. Boehner has told colleagues that he is determined to prevent a federal default and is willing to pass a measure through a combination of Republican and Democratic votes, according to one House Republican. The lawmaker, who spoke on the condition of not being named, said Mr. Boehner indicated he would be willing to violate the so-called Hastert rule if necessary to pass a debt limit increase. The informal rule refers to a policy of not bringing to the floor any measure that does not have a majority of Republican votes. Other Republicans also said Thursday that they got the sense that Mr. Boehner, who held two meetings Wednesday with groups of House moderates, would do whatever was necessary to ensure that the country did not default on its debt.

111 Just saw on FB the US Army WTF! Moments page some news on a real hero.  They have custom settings so I can't just share it here.

At 1730EST today at Englewood Hospital in Englewood, NJ, Medal of Honor recipient Nicholas Oresko is going in for surgery.  He is 96 years old and has outlived his family.  So spare some prayers for him today.

pg. 172 Medal of Honor - Portraits of Valor Beyond the Call of Duty

Nicholas Oresko in 1945 was a platoon leader with the 302nd Infantry.  January found his unit near Tettington, Germany.  They had already been repulsed multiple times when the order was given for another push.  That cold January day Oresko rose from his position and yelled "Okay, let's go!"  None of his men moved.  Yelling "Let's go" again he advanced on the German machine guns still with no one following.  Mumbling a prayer to God he managed to make it to the first bunker fifty feet away unharmed.  Tossing in a grenade, he rushed in after the explosion shooting point-blank, and killed the entire machine gun crew.  Second enemy machine gun opened fire and hit him in the hip.  He fell and wound up below the second position.  As he tried to move he triggered a booby-trap.  The machine gun was hammering his men so he reached for a grenade but found his had fallen out.  Crawling through the snow wounded he recovered his grenades where they had fallen.  Returning to below the machine gun, he pulled the pin on one grenade, counted four, and tossed it, after the explosion he followed with his rifle killing the crew.  By his actions he cleared the way for his company to advance and killed twelve German soldiers.

He was evacuated to a French hospital where he recovered from his wounds.  On October 12, 1945 Nicholas Oresko was awarded the Medal of Honor by President Harry S. Truman.

His rhetoric prior to the shutdown indicated there would be no shutdown (to whit: "We don't want a shutdown."). Yet, here we are. If he does cave, he should be excoriated and driven from the party. Of course, what makes me mad is that we're agreeing to the idea that the US would default on its debt if it didn't take on more debt. That is- the only way we're paying the minimum payments on our credit cards is by opening new credit card accounts. Think about that for a minute. But I posted earlier (previous thread maybe? I stared at him. He stared at me. Then I said, "Well, he has a house with a mortgage and four kids right? So given what I can assume to be his income and given approximations of his mortgage interest deduction and with the breaks for the four kids they probably should have gotten a refund each year of a few thousand dollars. He gave that up for seven years, that's tens of thousands of dollars with interest that he gave to the US Treasury instead of taking for himself. By God, the man's a patriot!" Said boss stared some more and replied "I cannot believe you came up with that in like 20 seconds." Me "What, you wanted spin, there you go and the best part is it's even kind of true."

Actually, if I were Speaker and such a bill was passed out of committee, I would refuse to bring it for a vote. Here would be my statement: "The United States of America is out of money. We spend too much on too many things. As much as my heart goes out to those affected by this tragic storm, we simply cannot afford to add their burdens to those already on the collective shoulders of the Nation. We call on the States to look to themselves and each other. We call on the People to look to themselves and each other. And while I cannot, in good conscience, allow the money of US Tax Payers to be appropriated for this purpose, I have personally pledged a donation of $50,000 to the United States Red Cross for disaster relief. I hope that all of those in this deliberative body, and all of those around the nation with the means to do so, would join me to relieve the suffering of our fellow citizens." And, yes, it would get misconstrued and spun against me. And I wouldn't care.

By God, the man's a patriot!" Said boss stared some more and replied "I cannot believe you came up with that in like 20 seconds." Me "What, you wanted spin, there you go and the best part is it's even kind of true." 272 That you think I put that forth as a serious suggestion for spin says way more about your ability to appreciate the absurd than it does me. Posted by: alexthechick - Bring the SMOD at October 03, 2013 02:28 PM (VtjlW) ___________________ Sarcasm is hard to detect sometimes on the internets.

276 “They’re not talking points,” Roberts exclaimed, referring to a speech Obama gave in Maryland moments before the exchange. “That’s directly from what the president just gave a speech on.”

I am very familiar with this style of argumentation. It usually is followed by ", verse 3:16".

277 Obamacare is a budget provision, just like the Continuing Resolution. So it is entirely appropriate to attach Obamacare to the CR. And how do we know that Obamacare is a budget provision and not a law? Because after the election of Senator Scott Walker of Massachusetts, and the loss of the Democrats' 60 seat supermajority, Obamacare was passed through Reconciliation, which required only 51 votes in the Senate. Reconciliation can only be used on budgets, so Obamacare is a budget. Next time some idiot goes on about how Obama are is the law of the land, remind him that it is a three year old budget provision, which means it is entirely appropriate that the new Congress should bring it up for review.

278 This was not a talking point. He was just reiterating the TRUTH as delivered from on high by the Won (Peace Be Upon Him). What a maroon.
