— Ace An update to Drew's post below-- when only six organizations were looked at, they may be be being targeted, but they're being targeted for the easy treatment, not the rough treatment.
In a letter to congressional Democrats, the inspector general also said that 100 percent of Tea Party groups seeking special tax status were put under IRS review, while only 30 percent of the progressive groups felt the same pressure.
Let's unpack this whole claim -- liberals are clinging to the idea that if any of their groups were targeted, then this isn't a scandal at all, just equal application of the law.
But this is nonsense. The entire point is that the IRS is supposed to review these applications in order to determine whether the applicant fits under the rule for receiving special status. Progressives are now basically saying that if the IRS did its basic job with respect to progressive groups, and looked at a few of them, then there's no scandal.
But that's what the IRS was supposed to do. That doesn't mean it was "targeting" them.
What's targeting? Targeting is when the IRS applies special search terms to give your applications special scrutiny above and beyond the level that other groups receive.
All the progressive defenders of the IRS seem to be able to allege is that the IRS treated their groups properly and did in fact do some basic due diligence on a few of them.
But they weren't targeted for heightened scrutiny-- they got the regular ol' level of scrutiny.
And they know it, and now they're lying.
Meanwhile, 26% of Obama supporters believe the nation's top terrorist threat is The Tea Party, and, oh joy, I guess a lot of them work at the IRS.
new Rasmussen Reports national telephone survey finds that 51% of Likely U.S. Voters consider radical Muslims to be the bigger threat to the United States today. Thirteen percent (13%) view the Tea Party that way, and another 13% consider other political and religious extremists to be the larger danger....However, among those who approve of the presidentÂ’s job performance, just 29% see radical Muslims as the bigger threat. Twenty-six percent (26%) say itÂ’s the Tea Party that concerns them most. Among those who Strongly Approve of the president, more fear the Tea Party than radical Muslims.

At the risk of sounding like a broken record, the IRS cannot be allowed to continue in its present form . A partisan organization which has been shown to leak personal financial information to lefitst activist groups and the democrat party, and to specifically target groups opposed to the democrat party cannot continue to have access to the American citizens' personal and financial information. The only solution I find acceptable is a consumption tax, which removes the income data collection from the hands of the government.
I have written my representatives, and I encourage everyone to do the same, and to ask their friends and relatives to do the same.

A]Obama has repeatedly called them out by name as an enemy, unlike any or our actual enemies, such as Iran, AQ, etc.
B]The MSM immediately blames the Tea Party for every new terrorisist plot, attack, or incidence of random gun violence (Newtown, Aurora, Giffords).
C] Congress has repeatedly blamed the Tea Party for any gridlock, incivility, etc.
D]All of the above
The narrative has been constructed very carefully so that after years of blaming the Tea Party it is common knowledge without any actual Tea Party crimes committed.

Actually, they are correct. Radical Islam is not an existential threat to America. They can't invade us... all they can to is cause Pain until we loose our temper and slap them down.
But the TEA party IS an existential threat to the way they WANT the Government to function... as it is made up of honest hardworking COMPETENT Americans... ie... when you wish to destroy a Government, a competent group in opposition to you, is a threat.

The gentleman was a hard worker who started in maintenance and worked his way up. The letter (which we saved) is two pages of beautiful cursive reminscent of Victorian penmanship, in perfect English, eloquently phrased and quite moving, ending by calling God's blessings down on both of us.
He was educated in mission schools which his family worked hard to pay for.
I am absolutely convinced that the educational establishment of this country, particularly the leftists in universities and social welfare, have destroyed the potential of black children with malicious intent. When you see the witness at Zimmerman's trial, what you are seeing is the end result of evil policies done to create a class which is incapable of anything but taking government money or doing any sort of productive work.

I concur entirely. It is simply that - I am thinking of how to phrase it.
The least fragmented thought I can formulate out of the quote above is that those individuals who believe the Tea Party a 'threat' to their way of life (even if that is true) are so far gone that they are simply beyond human help.
There is no way for us to bring someone back from being that thoroughly brainwashed. We haven't the capacity.

I heard both Kristin Powers and Amy Holmes, both democrats condemn these late term abortions. Americans are solidly against them. The bill ups the standards for places where abortions are taking place, thereby protecting women. What is wrong with the people in Texas that they are storming the state house over this? why is it the democratic process when democrats do it and similar behavior from the tea party or republicans is not considered the democratic process, in fact they are labeled. Although I can't think of a single incident where the tea party or the republicans was characterized as storming anything or anywhere. They politely protest and leave the area cleaner than when they came. Heck, if they could help put away the barriers and mow the lawn and plant new flowers they'd have done it.

Its worse than that. For three generations, they have been told by the democrats that those who have money stole it from them, and it rightfully belongs to them. When the government cannot continue to hand out money, and that point is coming, they will cut out the middleman of government, and come directly to your house to take what they believe is theirs.

I do not doubt it at all, sir, I simply grieve that things have reached such a point.
I think the best metaphor possible for this situation is Elijah at Mount Carmel, and the four hundred fifty prophets of Baal who had led the people astray.
Yes, the people make their own decisions, and are responsible for their own choices - but still, those who had deceived them, wielding them as tools to feed their own power - theirs was the greater condemnation.
So it is today.

Yes, yes it does. The seeming inability of the Republican Party to grasp this fact grates on the nerves no end. Romney's campaign, for all of its focus groups and highly paid consultants, was unable to put out a single TV spot that was equal to or better than a routine dish soap commercial. Clint Eastwood's impromptu empty chair routine was better than anything anyone could've deliberately produced and was viewed with horror and mortification by Ryan and others at the convention.
Stupid party, stupid party, stupid party. Ironically, the Right has more raw creative talent than anything the Left can throw out there. One David Mamet, for example, trumps an army of Adam Sorkins. It's infuriating.

Yep... because the first thing you need to do is take the blatantly stupid idea that voting is a RIGHT, out of the constitution.
Rights you can do without any Government... you can speak... you can have property... you have the right to defend yourself..
But voting is something that devolves from our system of Government. You cannot VOTE unless the Government allows you to... thus, it is not a RIGHT...
So to stop the incursion of the Free Shit Army... we would have to amend the Constitution anyway.

OUT = "Profiling" Muslim Terrorists
IN = BOLO Lists!
"I'm going to stop what I was going to say, except to say one thing," said Rep. McDermott. "I don't think BOLO lists should be thrown out. Every time I get on a United Airlines flight to go home Seattle, before it leaves the ground, the first officer leaves the cockpit and goes down with a BOLO list. He is on the lookout for a lot of things on that plane. We use it to organize your thinking. The American College of Surgeons has just adopted BOLO lists before they take somebody into surgery there is a whole long checklist of things that they look at in anticipation before they put you under anesthesia before you do surgery. We think that's the way you organize your thinking. And it is clear to me that a Be On the Look Out list is a good idea. So don't say you are going to though them away--other you'll become the DMV in Seattle... You will have a long line of people because they are not organized. And if you take 292 or 298 one at a time and don't organize your thinking, it doesn't make any sense. I want you to be careful about how you reorganize."

John Adams was wrong. There are three reasons why Vice Presidents are useful:
1. They can serve as vicious partisan attack dogs and say the partisan stuff that Presidents want to say but can't. Chaney served this role admirably.
2. They can serve as vicious partisan guard dogs and defend the President against the slurs aimed at him. Spiro Agnew was pretty good at this.
3. They can serve their consitutional functions as President of the Senate and successor to the President if the President is killed, incapacitated, successfully impeached or resigns. But that's just boring and why Adams hated the job so much.
And then, of course, there's the 'heartbeat away' argument that says a President should deliberately choose a complete boob as his Veep so that the whole country is invested in the President's health and well-being. Enter Joe Biden.

I wouldn't go with a new 1911 if you want to save some cash. The cheaper ones end up needing work. If you insist on new, I would start with RIA (Rock Island Arsenal) a used Taurus that has been shot and performs well would be ok, NIB is a big maybe.

The JEF is the beneficiary of every failed advancement program for underachievers, which his lack of transparency about anything quantifiable in his life illustrates. You don't need any confirmation other than your senses to come to the conclusion that he is substandard in any measure of intelligence.

Yep. And stupid tenants have never voted for lavish municipal projects, which inevitably cause tax increases, which then get passed on to tenants in the form of rent increases. Next go-round, stupid tenants vote for rent controls, which result in dearth of new rental accommodations.
To vote for any level of government, you have to have have skin in the game, according to how that government gets most of its revenue. Municipalities and counties mostly get that from property taxes, so to vote there, you need to own property there. Full stop. You have skin in the game. A tenant can just up and leave if things go pear-shaped. Property owners can't. State and Federal governments get the bulk of their revenue from income taxes, so to vote in those elections, one should be a taxpayer in good standing.

Posted by: HoboJerky, Hash Hunter at June 27, 2013 12:45 PM (X4HxX)
I'm sorry, what? When Colt sold the US Army on Browning's design, I don't think they intended for each firearm to be lovingly and individually crafted by hand by a hand-picked cadre of master gunsmiths, as they do at Les Baer or Kimber nowadays. Stating the obvious, those were mass production guns meant to be made in the thousands, hence the simplicity of design and ready interchangeability of parts.
The military 1911 was emphatically not 'designed to be hand-built'.

Were you one of the conservative members of the Harvard Law Review that elected him to preside over it? Were his grades altered due to his race? Did he only get through Harvard Law by tauting his ancestry? I find it really amusing that people who uncritically supported Dumya for two terms consider Obama a mental midget. That's really a pathetic, ineffectual critique from a group that considers itself objective and insightful.

There are a whole host of sticky wickets. For instance, what if you have paid tax your entire life, but now in retirement, you income is below taxable level. Arguably, you have a lifetime of 'skin in the game'..., MUCH more than some who are currently paying taxes.
I'm somewhat inclined to consider a complimentary system, whereby if one *receives* any form of government payment, then one is disallowed the vote. There would have to be exceptions. For instance, retirees who still have a positive balance in their SS account. I might not allow government employees to vote, with the exception of the military. Still thinking about that.

I think you're getting 'semiautomatic', 'automatic', 'single-action' and 'double-action' confused.
When people refer to a '.45 automatic', they don't mean truly 'automatic'. They mean 'semi-automatic'. Traditional 1911's are single-action (SA) semi-automatics, meaning you have to cock the pistol before you can fire the first round in the chamber (you don't need to cock it again for subsequent shots because the recoil drives back the slide and recocks the hammer). Most 1911 owners who carry carry their pistols 'cocked-and-locked', which means the hammer is cocked back with the safety engaged.

Also the .454 Casull looks like an advanced round that would be hard to manufacture in a bad situation.

'Silly' isn't a word I would use. I own a few revolvers and still occasionally carry my snubby .38 Special. It's amazingly accurate at 5-7 yards, conceals well, feels good in the hand, and is unfailingly reliable.
That 'unfailingly reliable' bit is what I look for most in a defensive weapon. Assuming the ammo is okay, if it fails to go bang every time in practice then I can't trust it and won't carry it. Few concealable semiautomatic pistols can pass that test.
