— Dave in Texas This is depressing. Geoff measures labor stats from a different perspective: those who are earning paychecks and those who aren't in the Obama "recovery".
It's not pretty.

I'm thinking of a word. I think the word is "unsustainable". I'm not sure, it has more than two syllables so perhaps I should look it up.
...
Ok yeah, that's the word.
As I sit here doing my taxes and cursing, there is one thought echoing in my stupid head. I have a job. It's a good job. I'm glad to have it. But it could all change tomorrow as it has for so many others.
Too many Americans have lost too much while their government takes even more from them to buy votes to keep themselves in power. It sickens me. This is no way to run a railroad.

That's right. And sooner than we can afford, the train is going to jump the tracks banking a curve.
And it's going to be damned ugly.

Please join me this afternoon on the Washington Post article,
In the Kermit Gosnell case, conservative watchdogs rattle the mainstream mediaÂ’s cage
You could all, hands down, feel good about batting them around. It is not as busy and swarming today as Friday or yesterday. I guess they are saving up their wrath for tomorrow and WaPo finally sending a reporter to Gosnell's trial.
Anyway, if you are bored, have had too much to drink already, or just want to mess with people, you are invited. Thanks.

Karl Denninger has been calling for a national strike until the deficit gets ended (and more recently until price transparency is brought to the scamalicious medical industry) for years.
Unfortunately few are willing to let go of their current, illusory comfort to make it stick. For my part, I'm already unemployed and living with my parents, so I'm not feeding the beast with taxes, not saving (to be grabbed later at Leviathan's convenience), nor am I taking any more than would otherwise occur.
Not sure what more can be done.

Isn't tax law and gun law optional just like immigration law? They can't just send all those illegal immigrants back to their home country because it would be cruel to their families that were born here. Then they can't send tax law breakers to jail because it would be cruel to their families who were born here.

1. If you know several people who are short of funds, consider having rotating pitch-in dinners. Use those old-timey casserole recipes from your grandma and get together for a dinner and play cards or board games. Pitch in for a couple of bottles of inexpensive wine or a couple of six-packs. In summer, grill out hot dogs and have salads and such.
2. Do not buy clothing new unless it can be avoided, particularly for children. Swap hand-me-downs with others, shop garage sales, church rummage sales, and resale shops.
3. Grow a small garden.
4. Shop wisely. Make up menus for 1-2 weeks and buy only items needed. Do not deviate from your list. Shop sales for necessities like detergent and for staples.
5. Go in with neighbors and stage a garage sale or two. Dump those old books, computer games, clothes, and bric-a-brac.

Bless their hearts, here is the synopsis of their vocabulary responses to the opposition: "wing-nut, American Taliban, goobers and goobs (both very popular), right-wing, Teanderthal (this was a new one for me...they combined Tea Bagger with Neanderthal! Eleventy!). Then, when their wee backs are against the wall, they throw in the murder of Tiller and/or Bush's war in Iraq. Faux News, of course. This under the story of Gosnell's slaughterhouse. Oh, and they start wailing that abortion will now be unsafe. Linking other slaugherhouses sort of shuts that argument up. Today I had the opportunity to throw in some Benghazi in the mix, led by their own topic stating that Gosnell and Benghazi are right wing propaganda or some crap. Little did they know I was obsessed and have a sharp memory of major details in Benghazi (it is a pity I cannot recall yesterday). So I silenced that lamb (pun intended as Lamb was the State Dept Rep at the first Congressional Hearing on Benghazi).
I even managed to compare Jug-Ears war in Libya, tying with a big red bow the Muslim Brotherhood and the potential gun-walking in Libya to Syria when Iraq came up today.
I am tired, so time for vino. Pay attention tomorrow, Morons and 'ettes, as there may be more reporters at the Gosnell trial now that the news agencies, thanks to conservative bloggers and Kristen Powers and others, have shamed the living daylights out of them. It will be interesting to see their spin at the mass murder trial. Meanwhile. I am pooped but ran off a few who did not want to mess with me. My little contribution to Ace's relay on this topic.

Maybe it's like his gay marriage stance, where when he "came out" on it nobody got all shocked and outraged because the right knew he was lying about it in the first place, and the only people on the left (who also knew he was lying) that are against it, again, only care about the color of his skin.

ChristyBlinky is reminding me a little of St Andrew Breitbart. The country needs so many more of you guys. I really never thought I'd live to see the day where somebody who steps up as a staunch supporter of the US Constitution would literally be derided as a "radical".
On a side note, I wonder if the horde has heard about the brownshirts having arrived in Western NY. It was actually a little heartening, that when the light was shined on those cockroaches, they scattered in a hurry, even here in the People's Republic of WNY. OTOH, it was exactly like Fast and Furious, or Benghazi, where suddenly nobody knows what happened, or who possibly could have issued the orders, or why. It was all a big mistake, you see!
What happened was that one guy in particular (although there was at least one other, who I didn't as much about) had the local authorities contact him, demanding that he surrender his guns - that this was at the request of the NYS police, who (according to the letter) had investigated him and determined that since he had been prescribed an anti-anxiety drug at some point in his life that they were revoking his license to have them. Further, that his guns would be destroyed in one year if his license was not reinstated.
So we had a trifecta of Unconstitutionality, from denial of the right to bear arms, to illegal search (of his medical records), to denial of due process in seizing his property. Not to mention violation of Federal HEPA (or is it HIPA?) laws.
So, consistent with the handling of Benghazi, we are being asked to believe a variety of patently absurd things. First of all, they said it was a case of mistaken identity (as if there's some other guy in WNY with his name who has also has anti-anxiety drugs prescribed). Then you have the locals and the state police pointing fingers at each other. We're not supposed to notice that this comes at the exact same time that Gov Cuomo is pushing his fascist guns laws, while Obama is pushing for the same.
The local media was unintentionally funny, actually reporting the case, but in a "nothing to see here" way (cue Frank Drebin...). One reported the "fact" that it was simply a "mistake", which is basically like catching your kid with his hand in the cookie jar, asking him what's going on, having them say "Oh, my bad - I thought it was a bran muffin!", and then your saying, "Well, that must be what happened then!!" They literally reported the perpetrator's side of the story as fact. One reporter even went so far as to say, "no word yet on whether they have tracked down the correct person yet." Wow. How gullible can you get?

#93 "#89 I don['t think he's even a socialist. I think he is an anti-American nation-wrecker who will do whatever policy is the most destructive. This is why we have both socialist policies and crony-capitalism. ..."
I am honored by your response, Miss Marple, but am surprised that you seem to be implying that being a socialist and being an "anti-American nation-wrecker" are mutually exclusive.
I think it was Jerry Boyer (IIRC) where I first heard the theory that Obama is a Fabian Socialist. He said he recognized it because his father had been one. That was way back before Obama was elected. Since then, Glenn Beck had his show where he treated the subject in great detail.
My case is this: First of all, Obama signed up for the New Party ticket, back in IL. Since that was an officially-socialist party, that shows that Obama at least WAS officially a socialist. His "Joe the Plumber" moments was a strong indicator that he remained very much a socialist, but the proof-positive came from the "you didn't build that" speech, where he told us - in his own words - his own moral justification for nationalizing any company that the govt feels like nationalizing. You just can't rattle off that kind of crap by accident, and believing that stuff is the very definition of being a socialist.
It's ridiculous that Romney and the supposedly right wing media never fully called it for what it was. Maybe they were cowards - afraid of being called racists or conspiracy nuts. Maybe they were just too lazy to actually look at what he said, or too ignorant to recognize it for what it was. The really remarkable thing about it is that the proof was laying right out there in plain sight - on whitehouse.gov, not some anti-Obama blog. How can a guy who so completely repudiated what is commonly called "the American Dream" get re-elected? We have been disarmed by political correctness and are paying dearly for it now.
The only explanation for why anybody would spend ALL their political capital - even sacrificing their political allies in the process - to install a huge new entitlement program at a time when the national debt is spiraling out of control, and then piss away $1T to run it up further, and then favorable compare yourself to FDR (Social Security), Johnson (Medicare/Medicaid), and Lincoln (mentioned last, only because he freed the slaves) is Cloward-Piven. That's the Fabian Socialist tactic of "transforming America" (into a socialist state), by tearing it down (and then blaming capitalism!).
It's all too obvious, at this point, I'd say.

Part of the unintentional hilarity. I guess you're supposed to jump to the conclusion that they were REALLY after one of those crazy guys, like who had perpetrated one of the recent gun-free-zone shooting sprees. You're supposed to trust that these guys know what their doing, and have you safety at heart, even though - by THEIR story - they're screw-ups.
Being statists, it probably never even occurs to these reporters that the police statements should not be taken as fact in an instance where THEY are the accused.
This is REALLY bad s**t. This guy had NO criminal record - was what you might call a "model citizen" in every way. They illegally accessed his medical files, and took his guns away on a lame pretext. They wouldn't even let him simply sell them instead (there are six or seven, some fairly expensive). He used them for sport shooting at a range.
But, hey - there are dead kids in CT, so - as Hillary famously put it - "What difference does it make!?!"

Do not think I have been so humbled. Thank you. If every Moron and "ette, with the boldness and talent here amongst the horde, would take Ace's lead and swat crazy libs at their own game the truth will be read by some. Or, that is what I figure. You will easily recognize me on that blog by Erik Wemple, as I mock, therefore I rule. They have no concept how to handle mocking in their narcissism and constant need to "win" arguments as they take offense at any, and I mean, any light shown on their little progressive parade. It is like taking candy from a baby, or in their case, liberal offended boys in Mama's basement with index cards listing insults (which I mocked all weekend).
