— Ace They do actually sell it that way-- the conclusion to the Epic Trilogy. I don't think they're being ironic.
Just as Return of the Jedi returned to the first episode's main location -- the Death Star -- so the Wolf Pack shall return to Las Vegas.
I don't know. I didn't like Hangover, gave Hangover II a very positive review which definitely looks dumb in retrospect. Hangover II's stock-in-trade was Ultimate Shock; it doesn't hold up on a second viewing, now that the shock factor is gone.
What can I say? I was maybe over-impressed that they did something I didn't expect: they actually shocked and horrified me.
I suppose I will wearily see this one, just as I will wearily see "The Hobbit II: Gondor-A-Go-Go."
Whatever. Gotta complete the trilogy. All nerds have that Completist tic that corporations so ruthlessly exploit.
And: Iron Man 3, too. Though no one's promising a "conclusion."
I rooted for four years for the Avengers movie. And it was good. And it was something that hadn't been done before. So it was neat.
But now... eh.... another Tony Stark movie? Okay I guess but... I dunno.
To mimic the team dynamic of The Avengers, apparently Tony Stark's given an Iron Man suit to every one he knows, and all of his employees. Rhodey's even wearing Captain America-style armor.
There are literally 20 or 30 of them on the screen at the end. It's like the Green Lantern Corps. They even have their own Kilowog.

Yeah, when i saw that my only thought was that it pretty much negates the entire reason for Iron Man since the point of an Iron Man movie is for Iron Man to beat the bad guy. If there can be a whole bunch of Iron Men, well, Stark isn't so special anymore is he? Just give an Iron Man suit to every bum on the street, why bother with Stark at all?

Yep.
The thing about Iron Man is that there's so much to draw from and, unlike a lot of other comic book characters, one of Iron Man's features is that the Armor makes a mark on the world.
In the comics, Stark Industries made "Steel Sentinel" armor which was basically scaled down Iron Man armor for SHIELD/the US Military. Rhody got a suit to become War Machine (and sometimes ran around in the Iron Man armor itself when Stark was out of commission). Then there are the different types of armor- from deep-submersible gear, to a true space suit, to the Hulkbuster armor, and so forth.
If there are 30+ "Iron Man" suits on the screen at once-- yeah, that happens in the comics sometimes. There's also the possibility that many (most) of those are being piloted by JARVIS instead of a person.

You know how in horror movies, the audience is always saying things like, "No, don't go down the stairs!" or (if they're geeks) "NEVER SPLIT THE PARTY!!!"? Yeah, imagine one of the characters in the movie already knows how the movie goes- and then goes on to make all the same mistakes anyway.
Yeah, that was Alien 3.

Problem with Resurrection was Fox's meddling. You have a team of some of the best visual directors in the game at that point with Jeunet and Caro with a good script from Whedon only for Fox to fuck it up so bad that I still don't think Jeunet and Caro has spoken since (and Jeunet has been stuck with making safe dramas)

I liked ST III, although it did have a lot of issues. The one that really bit the big one was ST V..... The Shat is a great presence, but he's no screenwriter.
ST III's main problem was that it had a tough act to follow. Another was retaining the Saavik character with a different actress and changing her character altogether. Then casting Christopher Lloyd as Kruge. He did a fine job with it, but his "Reverend Jim" typecast made it hard to take him seriously.
Nimoy tried to tell Shatner as gently as he could that the ST V script was a steaming turd and pointed the problems out, but The Shat kept insisting "it's OK Lenny, we'll work that out"

Even then the screenplay isn't terrible, It has it's shiny moments, like Kirk's emphatic "I need my pain" speech and "God's not out there, but in here" speech. The story is weak and could have used a pass by a better screenwriter. The absolutely worst aspect of that film was direction (Shatner's) coupled with the decision to go cheap on the special effects.
Best thing about the film: it spawned one of the best episodes of The Next Generation; "The Nth Degree" in which Barkley gains incredible amounts of intelligence and brings the Enterprise to the center of the Universe.

One interesting thing that came out of it was when somebody decided there needed to be a sequel storyline in a novel. The writer was faced with coming up with an explanation for the behavior of the mysterious aliens who could only be placated by the whales.
The premise he came up with was that they beings who interacted with the world entirely through telekinesis. They didn't have hands or anything like them, and exercised a biased that assumed any truly intelligent life had to be like them because fingers were for dummies who couldn't be bothered to develop higher brain functions.
The title was 'Probe' IIRC.

I won't see The Hobbit let alone any II or III.
I suspected they'd eff it up since they managed to do LOTR for 3 and didn't miss by any large degree on any one of them.
I knew the suits would be out in force and the reviews proved my point. I LOVE those books. They have provided YEARS of amusement and entertainment. I WILL never let them destroy my memories and pictures (in my head) of them. I never was ever all that excited about the Hobbit. Pretty mild stuff there.
Sequels in general have lost their attraction. Seen too many get wee-wee'd up.
Eff em with a spoon.
