— Gabriel Malor Happy Wednesday. Hey, it's Wednesday! Half over!
As expected, those ninnies in Congress passed the non-Sandy Sandy relief package last night. 49 Republicans voted in favor, including Oklahoma Reps. Tom Cole and Frank Lucas, who, if you're not from there, come from safe seats.
Allah observed that the "majority of the majority" rule appears to be dead in the House: "Looks like heÂ’s feeling awfully good about his leverage after being reelected Speaker. Presumably tonightÂ’s vote was his way of signaling to the tea partiers in the caucus that, if push comes to shove, heÂ’ll let Democrats pass a debt-ceiling hike with help from Republican centrists too. "
The Navy's Littoral Combat Ship is, reportedly, a floating wreck. The first one, USS Freedom, puts to sea in two months with a host of flaws that the Navy doesn't have the money to fix.
The President will announce his gun grabbing proposal today. The NRA is prebutting it with a hard-hitting web video that blasts Obama as an "elitist," "hypocrite" who uses guns to protect his own children, but doesn't want anyone else to do the same.
Kathryn Bigelow writes about 'Zero Dark Thirty' and torture at the Los Angeles Times, and, I think, gets it mostly right.
Added: The NRCC is initially targeting seven House Democrats for the midterms. These are folks come from districts that voted for the Republican candidate in the last three elections. There's no reason Democrats should be representing districts like that.

To listen to many grassroots conservatives, the GOP establishment is a cabal of weak-kneed sellouts who regularly light votive candles to a poster of liberal Republican icon Nelson Rockefeller.
He claims this is a myth. This is actually about half of the Republican Party and ALL of its leadership. Nothing illustrates it more than the voting on the pork bill known as Sandy in both houses of congress. Fuck him too.

People need to wake up and realize "we" do not hold a majority in the U.S. House.
There is no "we" except the politicians, and the list of them who are on "our" side is shrinking. Simply having an "R" behind your name means very little these days, and Boehner is smart enough to realize his future as leader of the "R" party depends on him working with the "D" party, not against.

This case is one I have followed with interest, I am hoping that the plaintiff's lawyers have traced back a web of connections ala the Question of Sherlock Holmes to show who the EPA staff in question are sleeping with so to speak.
The case I researched in Iowa where the Ranch was raided on the pretext of an endangered plant living on the property had condo development instead of Sierra Club as Snidley Whiplash, but the song remains the same.
EPA is inferior to the Gambino family ethically, the Gambino will at least invite you to dinner a few times before doing brain surgery with a .22.

I made the mistake of turning on the news last night just in time to catch Cuomo Jr's shrieking rant on "common sense gun control".
I've never been happier that I no longer live in NY.
Although I am still concerned since my daughter now lives there and the idiot governor has just put up a huge sign telling every skel in America that the sheep in NYS are even more defenseless than they were a week ago.
Oh, and if any of you Morons are wondering about Cuomo Jr- that's not an act, he really *is* that stupid.

It depends on how much money they decide to fund Choom's illegal EOs on the issue.
This thing will either be hollow or will be defacto gun grabbing in the sense that you can't get more on the thinnest of reasons and he won't let you sell for any reason.
We'll have to first watch the EO and then since we are after all relying on Eric "My people" Holder's judgement calls and restraint in interpreting the law watch DoJ like a Hawk along with the BATF men.
I look for a nice cuddly relatively innocuous looking EO deck that is snowball effected by Eric Holder into something far worse than the AWB of 94.
The funny thing that the media will never let anyone hear is that no matter how much I hate what New york has done, I am not as angered by it as what Obama and the Brady bunch are trying because in the end the states are allowed to self-select into ideally oblivion.
If there were a 10th Amendment Party whose avowed goal was to devolve the power and money usurped back to the states I think it's go far.

A couple of weeks ago I ordered 500 rounds of 9mm ammo online. Yesterday, a box showed up from the vendor, but instead of ammunition it contained 9 magpul polymer AR-15 magazines (the 30 round variety). I'm not sure what to do.
The packing list shows 9mm ammunition, so they don't know that they sent me the wrong box, and I can probably keep the mags, even though I probably overpaid for them (at pre-Newtown prices). I don't currently have an AR-15, but my wife has agreed that we're going to a gun show next week for my birthday and I might own one after that. Either way, these might become valuable contraband.
Keep or return?

Say what? Here are the real food trends:
1) City folks whining that groceries don't magically appear at their front doorstep (this was the top front-page article yesterday, "food desert" bullshit).
2) The pain of buying generic cereal to feed your illegitimate and/or junkie children and grandchildren because those greedy taxpayers don't give you enough food stamps (Register ran several "special reports" about this last fall...).
3) Recipes for shoe leather soup and tree bark salad for the greedy taxpayers, so they have the strength to keep earning a paycheck for other people's illegitimate children and grandchildren.
4) People stealing food from the restaurants they work at because Obamacare limits their paycheck to 28 hours a week.
5) Ethanol drives up food prices...but that's good because you're all fat, and fat people are bad people.
Seriously, "charcuterie"? We are indeed two Americas...the adults are looking up Depression recipes and the kids are eating overpriced amateur sausage.

Why is it whenever Boehner engages in this juggling act to try and please everybody it's conservatives and the Tea Party that end up taking it up the ass? It's like how Hollowpoint loves to "justify" Allen West being out of office because of a bipartisan committee for redistricting: That just means that Repukes and Donks get to join in getting rid of somebody they both hate. But don't blame the Repukes for that because it's BIPARTISAN.

We are responsible in theory for securing US interests.
That we lack the will to exert those interests with 1/2 the ruthlessness we are accused of, and are in fact arming the people we are fighting and not half of Americans can be bothered to notice is our national failing not having the power and projection we choose not to use to gain.
Don't think that Festung Amerika will be any easier to secure on the cheap.
The problem with our foreign policy is not military power and it is not that we exert influence, the problem is the left undermined it for political gain and Bush was too cowed to use it hard.

Howdily-doodily, ‘rons and ‘ronettes. Thanks for the morning briefing, Gabe and Vic.
Have I ever mentioned how much I hate Massachusetts? Tonight our rotten homunculus of a governor is going to swish his metrosexual ass out into the State House to deliver his State of the State speech. Naturally, there’s no belt-tightening, no addressing rampant EBT fraud, no attempt to clean out the bevy of corrupt lifers serving in hack jobs. No, no. He wants to hike the income tax, jack up fees and excises and institute a mileage tax on our cars. And, naturally, when asked yesterday if now was the right time to raise taxes, he hid behind a wall of children, sneering, “maybe it’s time to ask second- and third-graders if they want to wait until some perfect magic time comes around to invest in education.” And this is Massachusetts! Birthplace of the Revolution! The Sons of Liberty would have this miserable, cocksucking, Obama-felching tinpot tyrant hanging from a lamppost. If there still were any patriots in Massachusetts.
I would happily go to jail for a year if I could have one clean shot at Deval PatrickÂ’s face with a baseball bat.
*deep sigh*
OK. How about a couple of stories from the silent era?
First up is Rudolph Valentino. During both his lifetime and even today, the Latin Lover has always had a whiff of homosexuality around him. In his day, this was because he was excessively well groomed and suave in a Continental way, making him suspect to the men in the movie audience, even as he was catnip to the women. As well, it didnÂ’t help that his first wife, Jean Acker, was a lesbian and his second, Natacha Rambova (born plain old Winnifred Shaugnessey in Salt Lake City) was widely suspected to be one.
But Rudy was actually all man, as testified to by Rambova – who boasted “Rudy looks best naked,” – and the cinematographer Paul Ivano, who roomed with the two briefly in the late 1920s.
It seems that, one night, Valentino broke into IvanoÂ’s room, screaming that heÂ’d killed Rambova. Ivano rushed into the coupleÂ’s room, and, while Rudy (sporting a king-size boner), huddled in the corner, felt for her pulse. He soon realized that Rambova wasnÂ’t dead; she was unconscious, having passed out from the excitement of their lovemaking. Keeping Valentino (whose erection never faltered) away from her, Ivano sponged RambovaÂ’s nude body with cool water until she regained consciousness, then left the two to their playtime.
Another story takes place in Cuba, this time starring Mary Pickford. Very early on, Thomas Edison corralled a group of moviemakers into a monopoly called the Patents Trust. If you wanted to show a movie, you had to take it from the Trust. If you wanted to make a movie – well, you had to get a license from the Trust, and none were being given out. So a number of small-time producers formed their own maverick companies, making movies without the blessing of the Trust, and one of these was a little German named Carl Laemmle, who would go on to found Universal Studios.
But at the time of this story, his company was called I.M.P. Why were they in Cuba? Well, before California became the place to be, much of the Eastern Seaboard down to St. Petersburg was used for filming locations. And, the further away from New York you were, the further away you were from the TrustÂ’s goons, who were infamous for breaking up sets and even killing moviemakers operating outside the purview of the Trust.
A movie was being filmed in Cuba. The cast and crew arrived, had a wonderful meal, went to sleep and then got up the next morning. After a good breakfast, they were raring to go.
Suddenly, one of the actors collapsed to the ground, writhing in pain. Then another, and another. Then a cameraman. Then the director. Soon, nearly everyone in the company was retching in the bushes or squatting over a toilet. Nobody was in any shape to film anything.
What had happened? It turns out that, like today, actors use cold cream to take off makeup. Presuming that Cuba wouldnÂ’t have any cold cream, one of the lighting techs brought along a case of it, planning to sell the stuff at a tidy profit to anyone in the IMP company who needed it.
But cold cream needs to be. . .cold. And so, the Cuban chef, seeing the jars sitting in the icebox, opened one and assumed that it was an odd sort of perfumed lard that Americans liked and went ahead and cooked with it. That was the end of that Cuban jaunt!
Hope you all have a wonderful day. DonÂ’t forget to check out my website (through my nic) and give a look at my book, The DirectorÂ’s Cut: A Theda Bara Mystery, available on Kindle and at the Amazon and Barnes and Noble websites.

What's the fucking difference? Boehner is a revolving door for the donks pushing their agenda. Either he doesn't understand the responsibilities of an opposition leader or he doesn't really oppose the commiecrats goals. For all the bitching we do about turds like Manchin and the rest of those blue dog eunuchs, at least they have leaders that know how to keep those bitches on a tight leash.
And fuck Christie and his Springsteen jizz low carb diet. His influence ends at the borders of his shithole state.

On an intellectual level I agree with you, I have argued the same here since 2006, taken lumps and pissed off some people whose views I really do respect.
The thing is we are at the point that the GOP has decided media approval trumps any progress on constituent concerns or the agenda ramming any case for stopping the lurch left in a cogent unified manner.
Now because Joisey buddah uses the media to get his way we reward the fuckers for if not costing us the race at least giving the middle permission to vote for choom....
Yeah "no"
If this is New England's party more than Middle America's it is time to get that hard on the table, and given the "performance" of New England republicans in turning their states red I am not inclined to reward them.

The so-called "tea partiers" in the House are nothing but rabble rousers from gerrymandered districts whose only political threats would come from primary challenges. If they're going to act like irrational malcontents on every issue then they'll simply be jettisoned or at minimum marginalized. That's how things actually work in the real world.

CS folks don't realize how much prosperity world cop status bought us, and I am tired of arguing it.
The GOP historically was the isolationist party anyway.

DMV study bolsters driver's license push for illegal immigrants
Pull Quote:
"Unlicensed drivers in California — the vast majority of whom are illegal immigrants — are nearly three times as likely to cause a fatal crash as licensed drivers, according to a study by the Department of Motor Vehicles.
The report suggests that merely meeting the modest requirements necessary to get a license — passing a written exam and driving test — could improve road safety and help reduce the several thousand fatalities that occur in the state each year."
More accurate headline: Illegal Aliens Killing Thousands of Californians Each Year.

And the liberal press is just the opposite. So basically, we get one group and their media pals who blame everything on Boehner and RINOS. The other group blames conservatives and tea party reps.
Plus there is a whole bunch of stuff that isn't covered, at all, and we only find out about way after the fact.

There's not.
Obama will by HIS choice fuck the needy on purpose in a shutdown and the media will allow him to lie and cast blame at us.

I don't think it's entirely that, sven. Speaking for myself, what pisses me off about Boehner is his advertising that he has no spine. TFG gets more pushback - intellectual pushback that exposes his shallow ideas so that even the FSA could understand - on this blog in one day than Boehner provides in a week.
Why doesn't he stand up every day, use his own bully pulpit and call out the TFG? “He’s lying about a budget. He’s lying about the Second Amendment,” and so on and on. Every. Single. Day. Why? He is either too afraid of the racism card / MFM, too invested in the full-of-shit “comity” of the legislative branch to call out TFG, or he really doesn’t give a shit about conservative principles; he only wants to keep his cushy job.
Why is no one in our “leadership” punching back twice as hard? Are Georgetown cocktail parties and rusty trombones from MoDo that wonderful?

SeekingArrangement.com is a dating website with 2 million members, 44 percent of whom are female college students seeking a "sugar daddy."
As "sugar babies," students receive an average of $3,000 per month for relationships, mostly with older men who get companionship -- and sometimes much more.
UCLA was among the fastest-growing "sugar baby schools," with 180 Bruins looking for a wealthy partner in a "mutually beneficial" relationship, according to a report this week from the website. The University of California, Los Angeles, ranks No. 20 on SeekingArrangement.com's list.

The dems are better at politics, they have been successful in putting their propaganda forward in the schools and on T.V, they have been successful in accusing the right of doing the things the liberals actually do. I have long railed about these guys, especially on the GOP side. Since Lee Atwater died, most of them have seemed to be guys who in high school were marginal people consumed with trying to be popular, which they are still doing. They live in a Beltway world, devoid of any contact with real people. Their off-year earnings are as talk show guests and lobbying for groups which are often liberal.
I absolutely think their payment should NOT be a percentage of the ad buys or anything except a base salary of a certain amount, with a very large bonus if they WIN. Perhaps THAT would concentrate their attention.
I don't know how you get rid of them, because very few candidates, even governors, know the ins and outs of filing dates, ad agency contacts, pollsters, etc. which seem to be necessary to run a successful presidential race.

Basicaly what I have said and thought for some time. If ANY of the Republicans really believed in anything associated with Constitutional government, WHY aren't they standing on the Capitol steps every day at noon presenting at least one issue of the day. True, they probably would not get major press coverage, but YouTube or similar organization would pick up the comments so that at least a few internet wingnuts would have more information and a belief that some politicians are not corrupt. This just seems fundamental to me, and the fact that it doesn't happen indicates that none of them really care. They've got theirs (and have protected themselves by myriads of special laws), and we've essentially got nobody of influence and power.

I wish we would we won't.
I wanted to hold the line on the debt ceiling, force the sequester despite the fact it would devastate me personally and then let the crossfire start.
The middle way would have minimized the pain, shutting it down would probably destroy the republic(not necessarily a bad thing), and the "hit the pedal" will burn everything up for a decade or three.
