— Gabriel Malor Happy Tuesday.
While Democrats have paroxysms of glee at Obama's inaugural promises to spend more money the country doesn't have on progressive programs most people don't want, smarter commentators noted what was lacking in the speech.
Here's the AP: "If there was a way to reconcile such spending with demands to stabilize the nation's debt, he didn't mention it."
David Ignatius, after calling the speech "flat, partisan and pedestrian," noted: "If you were hoping that the president would set the stage for a grand bargain to restructure AmericaÂ’s entitlement programs and fiscal health for the 21st century, you wouldnÂ’t have found much encouragement."
Even Politico found that there was no indication that Obama's claim four yours ago that he would make "hard choices" on entitlement reform would come true in a second term: "His inaugural address promised an ambitious progressive agenda — and laid bare Obama’s deeply conflicted relationship with entitlement reform."
In other news, the Canadians are pissed off at themselves for their new bank note which features the wrong Maple leaf. A real quote, not from the Onion: "ItÂ’s almost Canadian in the fact that we canÂ’t even get our symbols right."
Scientists want to create a cave-baby, Jurassic Park-style. Moronettes, they're looking for a volunteer...
The House GOP introduced legislation yesterday to keep the government from hitting the debt ceiling until at least May 18. It would withhold the pay of lawmakers in either the House or Senate if their chamber fails to pass a budget this year (so, not by May 18, but sometime before October). The point, say House Republicans, is to force the Senate to pass a budget so normal budgeting negotiations can begin, something the Democrats have avoided for four years.

This is just a new way for Boner and company to cave in. As noted yesterday, a pay freeze will not work because it can not take effect until a new congress 2 years from now.
And what kind of BS budget will Land Dela Pederast give us? Just like the last debt ceiling cave in Boner did, a nothing deal. He gave it up for a bag of magic beans and the agreement to kiss hairy Reid's ass on the town square.
I am done with the so-called Republican Party. Piss on them all.

Good morning, ‘rons and ‘ronettes. Thanks for the morning briefing, Gabe and Vic.
TodayÂ’s story takes place during the filming of Clark GableÂ’s last movie, 1961Â’s The Misfits. During the shoot, Gable and producer Frank Taylor both had their families on set. One night the children, including GableÂ’s son, John, decided to go to a drive-in. As it turned out, the show that night was a double feature and the car of miscreant youths didnÂ’t return until after midnight.
John Gable was only four at the time; naturally, the others were afraid of his father’s wrath, and as they drove up to the ranch house where the Gables were living, there was Clark on the porch, his face dark with anger. Haltingly, the kids tried to explain where they had been and what they were doing, but Gable cut them off. He was about to launch into an epic tirade when producer Taylor’s son stammered, “But – but, Mr. Gable – it was one of your movies we saw!”
At that, Gable’s anger melted away and his face broke out into that famous cockeyed grin. “Well, I guess that’s OK, then,” he said. “Just don’t be so late next time.”
Hope you all have a wonderful day. Buy my book, The DirectorÂ’s Cut: A Theda Bara Mystery, on Kindle, blah, blah, blah.

The House GOP introduced legislation yesterday to keep the government from hitting the debt ceiling until at least May 1
The measure marks a change in strategy for House Republicans, who have backed off demands that any extension of the government's borrowing authority be accompanied by stiff spending cuts.

While past measures to address the debt limit have simply increased the borrowing cap, the House bill would actually suspend the debt limit until May 19. On that date, the debt limit would be automatically increased from $16.4 trillion to accommodate TreasuryÂ’s borrowing beyond that cap.
The arrangement provides some political cover for Republican lawmakers, because they will not be required to vote for a specific dollar amount that could be used against them in campaign ads.

The end of the day I could see them both laughing at the idiocy of their "base" for an evening.
Juan was crucified and hectored to get on the bus and by intonation to the back of it when he had his PBS moment, and Ms Rice burned a lot of goodwill not attacking Ogabe's idiocy from the start in '08.

I live in SoHo/Greenwich Village area and I encounter at least a dozen people looking at maps. I always ask if help is wanted, but I have to admit that as Europe turns its back on the US and Israel, I find myself unwilling to volunteer my help, though I will do so if asked and with a smile.
I was there a couple of times doing research for my first book. I had Theda Bara living on Cornelia Street. And the last scene takes place at the White Horse Tavern.

Good morning, all.
Don't object to Condi taking the job with CBS as long as she gets to give her opinion. Local radio guy who was the Mike Tyson prosecutor on the rape conviction got hired by CBS for legal commentary. He said he lasted about a year, because they didn't like his opinions, used him less and less, and then let the contract expire.
CBS isn't interested in reporting the news or giving expert analysis from a variety of points of view. They are interested in advancing their narrative. I wouldn't be surprised if this is simply a way to get her under contract so that they can simply keep her from talking to anyone else.

In other news, the Canadians are pissed off at themselves for their new bank note which features the wrong Maple leaf.
Being a reactionary right wing asshole, I'm pissed off that the maple leaf is considered anything more than something that's a pain in the ass during raking season.
But since history scares progressive douchenozzles, we now have that fucking maple leaf on our flag and everywhere else.
Red Ensign fuckers. Red. Ensign.
Anyway, mildly interesting trivia. On a trip to the Dominican Republic a decade or so back, I learned that the DR locals used to accept Canadian money, but stopped doing so when some asshole couch fuckers started using Canadian Tire money to buy trinkets from country bumpkins (Canadian Tire is sort of an older, smaller Home Depot that gave CT 'money' as a small percentage cashback on purchases).

Hacker Challenge Winner: Make a Quicker Egg Salad
david.rynda shows us an easy way to cut up boiled eggs with more consistency for use in egg salad—or anywhere else you need chopped boiled eggs. After peeling the eggs, just push them slowly through a cooling rack or other type of grate directly into your mixing bowl. Add mayonnaise, mustard, celery, or whatever else you like and fold your salad gently so you don't mush up the eggs too much.
Because if the pieces of egg in my egg salad are not all uniform cubes, I start to hyperventilate....

We MUST get control of a larger segement of the media. And while everyone acts like the "new media" is going to save us, it will not. Low-information voters are not reading blogs or watching podcasts.
This radio station thing really disturbs me. I have noticed that there are hardly any ads anymore on the local station which carries Rush. The owner of the station is Jeff Smulyan, who is a big democrat, and I think he is not selling ads in preparation for converting to another format. This is after already switching WIBC to an FM from an AM station (AM went to sports talk) so that it reached much less of an area.
People are not looking at the little signs of what's going on and it bothers me that they are probably outflanking us again.

Allen, this should be on a blog somewhere.
Whenever I hear this realtor pitch, I think, these guys have cause and effect reversed. Children raised in homes owned by there parents can be expected to do better because they have a family structure that is coherent enough that they are working and are qualified to buy a home. They also see a level of personality that is not aotomatically conferred by being given a home loan due to your demographic characteristics. But in the brave new fair world, I think we will see a lot of "effect and cause" reasoning implemented with our tax dollars.
Posted by: Hrothgar - LIB (for the Children) at January 22, 2013 04:19 AM (Cnqmv)
I did not. You're shifting the goalposts. The question wasn't whether or not it was legal, the question was whether their pay would be kept frozen at current levels (you, I believe) or frozen altogether (Gabe).
I believe the confusion arises from the time scale. Gabe means frozen in an escrow and then paid once they pass a budget. I suspect you mean frozen at current levels, but paid on time.

Excellent little show, w/a fair number of parts & ammo sales. Oddly, Fri PM and Sat mid day are the "best" times - avoid Sat afternoon & Sunday - the crowds are, well, there's a lot of folks there. Also, don't expect much "haggle" room on prices - every seller will have a line of ready buyers at every price point - from the $200 replica .22 revolvers to $5 figure shotguns. After the show, hit Willard's BBQ!

OK, while J.J.'s in the shower, another Buddy Hackett story:
Just after Elizabeth Taylor was promised $1 million for Cleopatra, a bunch of producers were sitting down in a restaurant talking about it when Hackett walked by.
"Hey, Buddy!" one called. "Would you give Liz Taylor a million to make a movie?"
"Nope," answered Buddy. "I'd give her five grand."
"Five grand!" the producer repeated. "Are you serious?"
"Sure," Hackett smiled. "'Cause she'd say 'kiss my ass,' and that's all I want from her, anyway!"
And now I've got to run. Later, 'rons.

My goal is to see Obama publicly humiliated on national television.
Hey, maybe we could get Putin to do it at the next global meeting. I am positive he already holds him in contempt.

I won't give those fucks one inch of CONUS. They can be banished to North Korea or any other hell hole on the planet but I'm not going to surrender any part of this country to these fucks.
On a happy note, I just lucked on to a large number of Magpul magazines for free. Thanks dumbshit Pentagon REMFs.

Wife and I play a game with some of the old movies. I thought Buddy in Mad Mad Mad Mad World was great. Pick a movie like that, that has so many stars in it. Then pick which of todays "stars" could do a remake and the movie would be just as good.
Great game for long driving trips.

NRA, or GOA?

Both. GOA is relatively low-cost for a 1yr membership.
And while you're out trolling the Intertubes, use bulkammo.com as well.

If you want to make a Neanderthal, why not do it on a 3D printer?
You have just about as good a chance doing that as making an operable gun. People just don't realize how ridiculous this concept is.

1. How much debt does the left think the world will allow us to accumulate before changing the composition of the world reserve currency into a broad, multinational basket of funds, thereby devaluing our dollars on the spot? $20MM? $30MM? $50MM? I ask because they seem to believe there is no actual upper limit.
You're forgetting the possibility that they want the world to move to a basket of currencies.

He didn't mention it because he doesn't give a rat's ass about it. He's going to spend like mad and make "the rich" pay for the country being unfair. He doesn't give a fark about the economy or unemployment. He knows that even if unemployment goes to 50% the MFM will blame the Republicans and enough mouth breathers will believe it

That would be news to all the people who had to take lower-paying jobs or welfare instead of moving to a new job when the factory closed, because they're stuck in houses they can't sell. See Kokomo IN or Newton IA or most of Ohio.

Sven,
The overall concept of using a 3D printer to make the components of a functioning weapon is a joke. Yes, the replicator can fashion certain items out of resin, but the actual parts that make a gun a gun need to be made out of something with tensile strength, which eliminates resins and ceramics.
Just because some geek can write the code to program a printer to make a copy of a lower receiver or magazine doesn't mean the item would work.

Russia has a worse demographic timebomb than Italy.
They are not using Siberia for growth, I just think if Putin is ruthless he cuts a deal with China, a visionary us, grab the quick buck the durka durkas.
The Durkas are the ones who are least trustworthy IMHO, they got plans and are in the mood for payback.

The lower receiver housing "already works: what is in question is durability.
I get what you are saying, you'll note I am not on the bandwagon hard about 3d printing and offered at least a 100 bucks towards "Moron Arts and Crafts" for real machining tools.
I simply think it is an interesting avenue for research and tinkering.

Morden: What do you want?
Vir Cotto: I'd like to live just long enough to be there when they cut off your head and stick it on a pike as a warning to the next ten generations that some favors come with too high a price. I would look up at your lifeless eyes and wave like this.[gives a mockingly cheerful finger waggle] Can you and your associates arrange that for me, Mr. Morden?
