— Gabriel Malor Happy Tuesday.
France is "totally bankrupt," says the French labour minister. Hollande's government is now denying it vigorously, saying the labour minister "mispoke," but the flight of French capital from Hollande's insanely huge taxes is unmistakeable. I love the picture the Telegraph chose to illustrate this article.
Rasmussen finds just 36 percent now identify as "pro-life," down from 43 percent in January 2012. Thank you, Rep. Akin.
Lucasfilm (now under the control of Disney) is cancelling the 3D re-releases of the previous movies, thank God.
Michigan Gov. Rick Snyder is sending the state's new right-to-work law directly to the state Supreme Court for review. Unions were shopping around for their favorite lower court judges to stay the law pending review, so Snyder decided to moot that process and ask the Supremes to make with the final ruling already. Republicans currently have a 4-2 majority on the state Supreme Court, after a Democratic justice "retired" last month upon discovery of her extensive money laundering and property fraud.

"I think the President understands the Constitution enough to know that he would prefer a different type of constitution. [Supreme Court Justice] Ginsberg said she admired the South African Constitution. So, I think that's more of where the President is coming from. They would rather have positive rights, enumerated, that everyone has the right to water, housing, haircuts, you name it."
Translation: He wants a “Commietution” And he doesn’t want to work through the legal methods of getting it. A Republican would have been impeached his second year in office.

Good morning, ‘rons and ‘ronettes. And thanks for the morning briefing, Gabe and Vic. If I’d known we were going to start off by repeating that we’re all Victor Lazlo, I’d have a Casablanca story ready to go. But I don’t. Frankly, I think we’re all Sam, trying to coax a song out of a fake piano.
So on to todayÂ’s story: in MGM in the 1930s, seeing Louis B Mayer - if he didn't want to see you was nearly impossible. His outer office was the domain of a dragon lady named Ida Koverman, who looked like a stereotypical doting grandma, but, in the memories of old studio hands, was anything but.
Seeing Irving Thalberg, the "boy wonder" head of production, was easier, if no less a test of your mettle. There was a wide streak of passive-aggressiveness in Thalberg, and while he would readily agree to see you, it was just as likely you would wait in his outer office for hours or even days before the great man deigned to usher you into his presence. The Marx Brothers found this out in 1935, when they left Paramount for MGM.
Their first conference with Thalberg was set for 10am. They arrived on time, waited in the outer office for four hours and then left. Their conference was rescheduled for 2.00pm the next day; this time, they had to wait an hour before being shown into Thalberg's office. Groucho, for his part, blasted Thalberg right off the bat: "We've been stars in three Broadway shows, in vaudeville and in motion pictures. When we have an appointment, we are accustomed to having it kept. In the future, don't ever call us unless we can see you at the appointed hour."
Thalberg apologized, promising to be punctual from then on. And, when the Marxes had their next conference with Thalberg, the meeting began right on time. But after about twenty minutes, Thalberg was called away on "urgent business," leaving Groucho, Chico and Harpo to talk to an empty office "All right," said Harpo, "let's show him." They pushed filing cabinets up against Thalberg's door, climbed out of the window and left. The next time they met, Thalberg was on time, but again, in the middle of the meeting, got called away.
Harpo marched down to the studio commissary while Chico and Groucho stripped off their clothes and built a roaring fire in the office fireplace. When Thalberg finally returned, he found the three brothers, stark naked, sitting in front of the fire roasting potatoes.
"Wait a minute, boys!" he laughed, and called down to the commissary for butter for the potatoes.
He never walked out on them again.

Glad to oblige, J.J. If you haven't, get your hands on a copy of Richard Anobile's The Marx Brothers Scrapbook, which contains interviews Anobile did with Groucho, Zeppo, Gummo and a number of writers and song pluggers (like Morrie Ryskind) who were associated with the Brothers. It's absolutely fascinating if you're a fan of the Marxes, and an invaluable reminiscence of early vaudeville if you're not.

And I just remembered, in these last moments before diving into the mound of paperwork on my desk, that I didnÂ’t do my daily pestering. So: BUY MY BOOK! ThatÂ’s right, buy The DirectorÂ’s Cut: A Theda Bara Mystery, now on Kindle, available through the Amazon and Barnes and Noble websites, or through any good bookstore.
Now that you’ve read my commercial, here’s one more Marx Brothers story: Groucho was once being interviewed. “In the act, you were the fast-talking wordsmith and Harpo the seemingly idiot comedian who was a musical savant. But what did Chico* contribute?”
Groucho took a puff on his famous cigar and answered, “Chico introduced gonorrhea to the Orpheum vaudeville circuit.”
*it’s pronounced CHIK-o, as in “look at the boobehs on that chick,” not CHEEK-o.

But it's all moot if they don't enforce the borders, which Rubio said will be part of the bill. Knowing that laws don't apply to TFG though, that part of the law will be ignored. If they added some kind of penalty to the government for non-enforcement of border security, it would make me feel better.

1) We do not have "leaders" on our side that can match the commies in rhetorically and demagogically.
2) The Progressives have a baked into the cake army of agitators in the Unions.
3) America elected Barack Hussein Obama, a miserable failure in every and all ways possible - Twice.

2. The people going to the convention will not be the same people who are in Washington now. And each State could insist that the attendees have never been elected to any office higher than a city or county job.

It's not Akin it's the enforced climate of not being able to call Abortion exactly what it is - MURDER!
Gaze at pictures of a 1st trimester abortion and explain how it's not.
We have allowed the progressives and the media to define the debate and the means at which they fight.
If we have to cede ground at least lets make the case in a conservative/libertarian manner.
Personally I am against abortion, if a woman wants to murder her child the supreme court, though clearly misguided, has said that is her right.
She can murder her child, I do not want to pay for it and no tax revenues should go to paying for it.
And states or localities should be able to prohibit the services from being offered.
You may have a right to murder your child but you do not have the right to compel someone to do it for you!

Yeah there is a special class of fake 2dA supporter who insists on pushing the law to the utmost limit, never grasping that localities have a LOT of leeway on gun control. I wish I'd retained more of my make up skills from my time in drama club, I did pretty mean mime make-up, it'd be a blast to do Eddie Murphy's white people make-up gag in reverse and to create a Mirror Universe Al $harpton who was "honest."
Add in that there's a chance it is a dem union activist playing games to get the donks the news they want....
I feel like my last firewalls against the hall of mirrors are falling away.

Now, at some point not too long after that, she realized either a) that she hated music (you wouldn't figure that out after going to school for it for 8 years?), or b) that she couldn't make a living in "music theory," (more likely) so she went back and got a degree in human biology and then became a physical therapist.
On my last (and final, yay me!) visit, she and I and one of the other patients got to talking about musical theater (they both liked Les Mis, I watched it once as a teenager, and decided I didn't want to spend money to be depressed) and she vouchsafed that her daughter was in CA majoring in musical theater.
It was with some fortitude that I refrained from asking her, "Obviously that didn't work so well for you. Did you even consider telling her to major in a STEM degree, and minor in musical theater? Do you realize that most actors on Broadway don't even bother with "degrees" of any kind?"

As others have already stated the problem is that we have an uneven battlefield inflicted on us and our "allies" happily accept it.
Somehow in America I am responsible for every insane person's actions with a weapon, get credit for none of the good done with weapons, and should be personally singled out and frozen according to the media. This is called "reasonable knowledge and preparation info" by the media and politicians. They are undermining an enumerated right but "better tomorrow for the kids eleventy!"
We pro-lifers are not allowed to call "late term" what it is, murder. Barack Obama is not allowed to be questioned on TV as to why he favors letting babies die in a linen closet, and because his side is below replacement rate they love cyclic amnesty for illegal mexicans. This is called "commonsense morality."
I want a divorce because despite liking the tapioca pudding they serve at insane asylums, I don't really want the cognitive constructs prevalent there as baseline for my nation.

Indiana couple faces possibility of jail time after rescuing injured deer
http://t.co/Hpm9FUdu
When the Councellers found her in 2010, she was unable to stand, and her maggot-infested wound was ugly. The Councellers contacted DNR at the time but were told to return the deer to the wild and let nature take its course.
"It would have been a death sentence," Jeff said.
"She would have laid there and starved to death and had a miserable death," Jennifer said.
So they took the deer home.
The deer escaped the night before its scheduled execution by the DNR.I'm a big fan of venison but not pointless cruelty, you know?

Add chunks of chicken and delicate matzoh balls. Serve and eat. Nom nom nom.

The problem again is we try to live up to the 'law." The right does not go passive-aggressive insurgent in thought enough. It is like the resistance to 1099ing everyone as a counter measure.
Your labor really is your own, and you can sell your services as low as you want via 1099.
The problem comes from the charming habit of the Feds then charging you self-employment tax loads.
I was a tax preparer not a CPA and although I know a lot of folks pay me as much mind as a used newspaper it doesn't bother me because I am in no way an "expert" on much of anything but 1990s standard Aviation focused hazmat work and even that is specialized mostly on DC-8 issues.
The thing is that the democrats are very unwieldy on precision in law writing nowadays, and they tend to get cute at blinding with high volume fire bullshit.
The shorter and more direct a law the easier it is to follow, and work around if need be but the fewer "regulators" you get to play with.
People would be scared if they understood how little "law" is really generated by their elected officials these days.
A politician would need 4500 pages on stop sign laws nowadays.
We are not a nation of laws we are a nation of lawyers.

And how, exactly, is that "defending "Akin?" Like Phoenix said, if all it took was Akin's comment from Octoberish to make someone change his mind in Freaking January, then that person wasn't pro-life to begin with.
Gabe's schtick is blaming conservative setbacks on the, as he puts it, "extreme right wing." Blaming Akin for a 24/7 liberal/media drumbeat about defining abortion as "women's rights" is extraordinarily facile.
So I'll spell it out....Akin said something dumb and his insisting upon staying in the race was even dumber. But unless Gabe wants to point out crosstabs in Rasmussen's poll where respondents said "yeah, I changed my mind because of Akin," blaming Akin is a gratuitous jab at a wing of the Republican party Gabe has a problem with.
