Day 16.

NRO's Jonathan Strong has wrap-up for yesterday's shenanigans in the House which looked a lot like the rejection of Speaker Boehner's "Plan B" during the fiscal cliff impasse last year during the holidays. You'll recall that under Plan B, the Bush tax cuts would be extended for everyone making less than $1 million per year. Days after that was rejected for being a "tax hike," the House was forced to vote on the Senate's offer to extend the tax cuts only for everyone making less than $450k per year. Many Republicans again voted no, but the bill passed with mixed Dem and GOP support. Here's what I wrote after that little episode:

Back to the fiscal cliff, there's a lot of moaning about Republicans "paying the price" for yesterday's fiscal cliff drama, by which I mean not just the vote, but also the all-day Three Stooges routine put on by the House GOP. I don't think that's true. Most GOP members get to go back to their districts and say they voted against the plan, which will no doubt please their majority-GOP constituents. The ones that voted for the plan were already on solid ground in their more purple districts. They get to go back and say they averted tax hikes for their constituents.

Each of these two categories of Republican congressmen are going to count their actions as qualified victories when they seek reelection. So, of course, neither group has much incentive to change anything about the way they acted the next time around. Did I mention the sequester and debt ceiling debates are just around the corner?

Anyway, word is filtering out of the Senate that they'll move legislation that includes government funding through January 15, a debt ceiling hike through about February 7, a budget commission, income verification for Obamacare subsidies, and flexibility to government agencies on what to cut for sequestration. No Vitter Amendment and no medical device tax repeal or delay.

Colorado is looking at another recall petition for a gun grabbing state senator. If successful, the recall would flip control of the state senate back to the GOP. The state's Democratic governor is telling the gun control groups that poured millions into the campaigns of recalled incumbents earlier in the year to stay away.

Choomy's constant "I won't sign this" shtick is his way of saying he's intent on default even though the Constitution says a president has the obligation to pay debts and interest payment FIRST.  He's stringing this "negotiation" along to get to his end game: American collapse, even though there's plenty of $$ to pay the interest on the debt.  As for Levin, his knowledge more than makes up for whatever vocal qualities you think he may lack.

Except we're not really shut down.  The President is deciding what gets funded and what doesn't.  I have no desire or intent to qualify the whats and ifs of who has constitutional authority here, but I don't think it's hyperbole to say the President  and  his administration  and party are trying to take power away from the House.

Whereas, calling someone an "agitating ass" seems pretty agitating to me.  It's  fine if you don't like the guy, but I thought it worth pointing out you are accusing him of doing what you are doing.

22 I really think the people around Bronco have every intent to go where no administration has gone before.  It fits the M.O. for the radicals that they are and the relative youth and aspirations of the cult followers.

I'm sure in their eyes, this is their moment.  Who knows what they'll do with it, but I think it is clear they have no short-term plan and very lofty goals.  If they concede anything to the GOP at this point, the rest of the 2nd term is lost to the dems.  It's all about elections to them and pushing as much agenda leftward and monies into their friends pockets as possible.

26 I experienced my first "Safety Checkpoint" yesterday, which apparently is common practice here in Mississippi. How in the world is that constitutional? There's no cause or provocation, they just block the road and demand ID and such. I looked it up, but mostly found DUI checkpoint info, including a Supreme Court case that okay'd it, but basically (from the summaries I read) on the grounds that it was useful, even if not strictly constitutional. Even if this were true and justifiable, which it isn't--as the dissenters pointed out, utility is not a factor of consitutionality, their line of reasoning was specifically about DUI, not general safety procedures. I've seen some people refusing at checkpoints on youtube. Anyone known if this is legally justifiable (in Mississippi)? Obviously it's morally and consitutionally justifiable, but can they legally do anything to me if I refuse?

First:

Choomy's constant "I won't sign this" shtick is his way of saying he's intent on default even though the Constitution says a president has the obligation to pay debts and interest payment FIRST. He's stringing this "negotiation" along to get to his end game: American collapse, even though there's plenty of $$ to pay the interest on the debt.

Then:

Weasel Zippers has an exclusive story about a USDA letter sent out on the 11th directing state agencies to prepare for a shutdown of EBT benefits Nov. 1.

This is why I unplugged all last week and am seriously thinking of unplugging now.  Why is it that a bunch of Morons can  succinctly sum up this administration's crimes  so that even the L-est of LIV's could understand, and yet there's not one fucking person in DC who will stand up and give Barky a big middle finger, saying "you are an un-American traitor to the Constitution and I will do everything in my power to stop you.  In fact, I dare you to send your goons to arrest me, Barry.  You want to be a dictator?  You want to spark a war?  Bring it on!"

So Manute Bol became a hero of mine after seeing a documentary about him not long ago. They put him under house arrest and it took a little international pressure to free him.

Sorry about that, peeps.  The mind's in a bad place right now, though it's nothing compared to poor Carol's problems with her brother (prayers for you, Carol).

So let me try to give you a short story, even though I don't have any files in front of me.  It's from the new Gloria Swanson biography:

Swanson was known in her later life for espousing a vegetarian diet, macrobiotics and holistic healing (in fact, Dirk "Starbuck" Benedict) was a protege of hers for a while.  But her belief that she knew best for her body had a long history.  It seems that, early in the 1920's, Swanson had to have an operation as a result of the birth of her daughter, which left her with a wound of some sort between her vajayjay and her squeakhole.  She asked the doctor why it couldn't be repaired with another surgery* and was told it was an interior hole.

Swanson didn't  believe that  nothing could be done.   So for the next couple of weeks,  she lay out in the sun, her legs splayed up  to her ears  and out like the blades of a scissor, each hour dripping some sterilized saltwater to  the affected area.

And, at the end of the treatment, she was cured.  Who'd have thunk it?

Here's a picture of Swanson from around that time (click to enlarge):

Like a caller to Rush said yesterday, this as if the country had been invaded and taken over by socialists.  Or even a coup.  We've got propaganda 24/7 from the media toting water for the administration and the regulatory agencies are in over-drive writing regs and interpreting laws as they see fit with no oversight.

72 The vitter amendment makes it black/white. Peter Schwiezer said that Washington is all about perks. Ignore R/D... it's perks. That's why that vitter amendment really burns them, it takes away the perks. It's an easy attack line as to why government run health care is just another line of perks for the DC crowd, and has nothing to do with fairness at all... and bringing that up is not "declaring open civil war" or whatever crap Fnord spewed. Distill things like the vitter amendment down to the a one or two line sentence, and repeat it over and over again to every single question that the fat ass candy crowly asks you, then throw in a zinger about her bailing out Obama, and you've got your interview.

There  are people who come to this site, as there are all around Washington, who believe this fight is about who controls the R party.

That's what they are fighting, and so it causes head-scratching by the rest of us when they  engage in their esoteric arguments.

Again, I think that's fine, if that's as far as they want to concern themselves, but I kind of resent the fact that they will disingenuously  engage  people who are talking about something else, something quite a bit more important than party in-fighting.

4) Don't think the Government should one day take over health care, ie, single payer and this is a neccesary start cause most Americans don't want single payer, so has to be snuck in slowly..

Generation Cryo follows a teenaged girl’s effort to locate all of her half-siblings, fathered by anonymous sperm donor #1096 — as well as and her anonymous dad, with the help of Donor Sibling Registry, a website that says it’s dedicated to connecting sperm donor families.

In the six-episode docu, Breeanna discovers she has at least 15 half-siblings, and sets out to connect with them and figure out which ones want to search for their father.

They believe this fear makes them more clever than stolid rightwingers who think confrontation is the whole purpose of being the opposition. Thus, they suddenly decide they NEED a deal, NOW. Which means waiting them out lets the Democrats win every time. And in their desire to avoid "lasting damage" they rack up another needless loss. 165 "NRO's Jonathan Strong has wrap-up for yesterday's shenanigans in the House which looked a lot like the rejection of Speaker Boehner's "Plan B" during the fiscal cliff impasse last year during the holidays. The GOP needs to learn how to look like winners.

Pass the bill we want, include something that the democrats can't defend, like making staff subject to Obamacare, then go out in front of the cameras smiling,  shaking hands and congratulating each other like you just cured cancer.

Then leave town.

Leave it on the senate to either pass it or shut the world down.  Those pussies will cave and Obama would be on the spot to sign it or veto a (now) bipartisan bill.

Ready for more shutdown theater?

Coworker of mine got a decent promotion two years ago, enough that he was catapulted into a higher tax bracket.  He was victimized by the Alternative Minimum Tax and ended up owing a shit-ton of money which he didn't have, so he set up a payment plan with the IRS.

Tells me today that he pulled enough money together to pay off the outstanding tax balance and sent the check last month.  IRS cashes the check two weeks ago, but yesterday took his regular payment out of his bank account.

So he tries to call the IRS and gets a recording that all IRS offices are closed due to the "budget situation."  So yeah, they have enough people to cash the checks, but are hiding from the people to whom they owe money.

If the tables were turned do you think the IRS would accept non-payment from an individual "due to his budget situation?"

While I fully expect T-Bone's bro to win, a Lonnegan victory would be disastrous for the donks trying to prevent any action on Obamacare. WASHINGTON (Reuters) - President Barack Obama said on Tuesday that stalled immigration reform would be a top priority once the fiscal crisis has been resolved.

"Once that's done, you know, the day after, I'm going to be pushing to say, call a vote on immigration reform," he told the Los Angeles affiliate of Spanish-language television network Univision.

Getting sued is no joke.

I've been through it twice.  Both times I won and the suits were dismissed with prejudice, meaning they couldn't be brought up again.

Although the suits were totally baseless, brought by people who had an interest in delaying and harming my business, it still cost me personally serious money.

The first one I had to fight in Dallas, 1000 miles from my home.  Depositions and meetings meant I had to travel there and the legal fees totaled over $200K.

The second one was local and even though we proved that the opposition had manufactured documents, when it was all done it wasn't cost effective to sue for expenses.  Another $180K down the drain.

Both of these took over a year each and were exhausting.  Discovery document searches take enormous amounts of time and money (which isn't included in my totals above).

It's nice that Ace has a lot of company on this thing  and people to spread the cost around, but it's still a major pain in the ass.

This Jihad Watch article on the way political Islamists like CAIR manipulate the media is interesting in its own right.  But the first two rules for manipulating the media  are hilarious in any context:

1) The media  expects  you to do their work.  Let them.

2) The media does little primary research of any kind.

Sadly for us though, the key to the strategy is being in a favored  ideological niche with the right  ethno-religious pedigree.

"Media in the US is very gullible."

283 Ace was very concerned about this last year.

"I seem to recall a thread where he mentioned the dude. It was all just information, Ace didn't make any sort of judgement. I watched closely, because when you're dealing with excrement, you don't want to step in it. He stepped carefully around it."

It doesn't matter how carefully he stepped around it, if he's named in the suit he's in for the long haul.

Everyone who is sued thinks as they read the initial papers that this is  ridiculous, all I need is two minutes in front of a judge and he'll throw this out plus shoot the plaintive and his lawyer for bringing such a stupid action.

That's the way it should work, but it doesn't.

All the leeway is given to the plaintive in the beginning, so 99% of suits move forward.  Then the money clock starts and it doesn't turn off for a long, long time.

Lot's of frivolous plaintives just try to find something in discovery that they can latch onto to justify the suit.  It doesn't matter if it's baseless, it still costs you money.

Why reminds me of the Pizza parties they had in Motown at their budget meetings..look what happened.

In Atlanta teachers had pizza parties to change the test scores of students to achieve college entrance and  increased Federal subsidies..

I tell you when people other than teens have Pizza parties , there is trouble a foot..

The claim started in the tens of thousands, & just kept climbing. Took only two years, but only because we agreed on a special judge. I 'won' by losing only to the MUCH smaller amount we actually owed and had agreed to in the first place. My assailant was a serial litigant, also.

There is no possible way for Lonagan to win.

The fraud machines of Newark, Jersey City, Elizabeth, Paterson will deliver the votes.

Turn out in some precients will be as high as 110% with 99.9% going to Booker.

Lonagan will win the Republican counties in the NW but that's not going to be enough to overcome the fraud.

It also does not help the the RNC did nothing for Lonagan.
