Day 8.

NYTimes reports that the faulty Obamacare websites were designed by contractors, who the White House has declined to identify. That's right, proles, you have no right to know just which donors' sons got paid outrageous sums of taxpayer money to half-ass the exchange software and which other donors' sons are now getting paid outrageous sums of taxpayer money to fix the half-assed work that should have been done correctly in the first place.

USAToday's editorial compares Bush 43's rollout of the online Medicare plan finder to Obamacare's online exchanges debut: "the difference between competence and incompetence."

Politico notes that the Democrats are showing a bit of daylight between the White House and the Senate on the budget & debt ceiling. Quite simply, Obama is telegraphing that he's ready to negotiate. Senate Democrats think that's a terrible idea because, dontcha know, they've got other things to do: "What does short-term buy us? That buys us Thanksgiving in Washington."

Speaking of turkeys . . . VP Biden, who brokered the deal that got us the sequester cuts in 2011 and fended off the fiscal cliff at the start of this year, has been banned from dealing by Sen. Reid. "None of the deals Biden has struck have aged well from the perspective of the Democratic Caucus."

1 Good Morning Morons.  Today is Tuesday, October 08, 2013.  On this day in 1871 the Great Chicago Fire was started.  Supposedly it was started in a small barn on Dekoven Street by Mrs. O'Leary's cow kicking over a lantern. However, the reporter who printed that story later admitted he made up the whole thing.  So yes, reporters have always been liars.

Now that liberals are seeing the cost of healthcare through the new exchanges, maybe someone on the right will try to lay out a simple concept...

Everyone in the U.S., rich, poor, citizen or illegal immigrant received medical treatment prior to this.  They may not have had insurance, but they were treated.

So, we were paying for all the treatment everyone in the country received.  A lot of it was extremely expensive, being done in an emergency room instead of a clinic.  The important point is that prior to Obamacare, all the costs were paid.

Now, with everyone supposedly being covered and a large pool of people who never contributed to the expense being  brought into the system, why would it cost the people who have already been paying everything more?

It doesn't make sense.

The left would argue that it costs more to provide insurance for those who weren't insured before, but that's not correct.  They were being treated with high cost healthcare that should be being replaced with low cost treatment.  It should cost less.

What  the fuck?

I think that the Dems are terrified that the people are going to figure out just how much the Federal government is "not" necesary.  I get the feeling that the "meh" reaction to sequester has really thrown them for a loop and they feel they MUST stick to the guns this time to get Americans back on the Uncle Sugar plantation.

Fortunately, the only way they can make it look like the government is so all fired important is to start hurting people intentionally.  This only serves to make them look like assholes who are willing to hurt folks just to get their way politically.  I don't think people are falling for this shuck and jive this time.....I'm starting to have faith in my countrymen again.

If I was teaching the class I *might* touch on CO2 and mention that the planet has had much higher levels of CO2 in the past, in fact two or three times as much -- and there is too much hyperbola about 400 parts per million. Another teacher with an agenda would be, 'OMG, we're killing the planet and the oceans are rising'. Common Cores is just a guideline. All you can do is watch what a leftist teacher does, and bitch to the higher ups. Maybe get a petition among parents. In my wife's (private) school there is only one lefty on the faculty. This lefty has toned down her act considerably, because parents were pulling kids from the school to avoid having their children in her class. The school was nearly closed because of declining enrollment. She finally put 2 + 2 together. Lefties *sometimes* 'get it' but you have to beat them over the head with a clue bat.

85 @75 The problem is even bigger than people realize. The jobs losses we have been experiencing under obama have become permanent, they are not coming back. Couple that with looming amnesty and we are staring 10 to 15% structural unemployment in the face. Its going to be grim for at least the next 10-15 years on thr job front for most people. Goverment and municipal workers will as always have a feathered nest.

I am thinking what would do wonders would be compartmentalizing the coverage with a faux editor vetting the charges.  Make the primary focus isolating a victim and then pulling on the loose thread until the garment falls apart.  NBC is very vulnerable because of the incestuous relationship between NBC, MSLSD, and CNBC.  I'm hoping Ace gets his pound of flesh through his Breitbart contacts.

Of course now that this has ACTUALLY HAPPENED in psychological terms (the Syria rebuff), what does the emasculate wankstain Obambi do? He vents his rage upon his own people. It's like the abusive husband whose brother in law smacked him a good one for pushing the wife about, so he goes home and kicks the dog. God, how I hate that pathetic stupid bastard. 176 I had a conversation with a LIV last night. He told me that he had just sent an email to Ted Cruz thanking him for shutting down the parks and screwing over a bunch of scouts who were planning on camping there.

I told him that Ted Cruz had nothing whatsoever to do with that. That it was the Administration, aka TFG, who chose how to handle the shutdown.

He replied that well, it was because Republicans in Congress wouldn't vote on spending.

I told him that the House had sent over two dozen spending bills to the Senate, controlled by Democrats to fund various aspects of the government.

He replied that they were just mad about Obamacare and that funding had nothing to do with that.

I reminded him that Obamacare required funding and that Republicans were willing to fund absolutely everything else and all they were asking for was a one year delay in Obamacare - something the Democrats should appreciate given how horribly it's been rolled out.

He just walked away.

191 Since the Shepard debunking has come up-

I met a kid in Queens New York in the 90s named Eric Brown. When I met him I was told he was awaiting a court date. Later I found out it was for murder during a robbery.

Brown and two others lured a gay man to a school that was a gay sex and drug hangout. They had agreed Brown would lure the victim and they would then rob him. They had a wrench and maybe a hammer but one Esat Bichi, had a knife that supposedly the others didn't know about. Bichi stabbed the victim and they left him to die.

This became one of the first big "gay bashing" cases. It was said that the group were part of a skin head gang. That they targeted the victim because he was gay.
There were marches and some of the first talk of hate-crimes laws.

Problem is; Brown is bisexual. It is why they chose him to be the bait. The "skin heads" where so intolerant that the Arab Bichi was allowed to be one.

So yes, the press has been lying for a long time.

In the Senate a long time (maybe why Barky picked him?) Since Barry was never actually there, he needed someone entrenched in the "Good Old Boys Club" there who could whip up support on the other side? And since Barry was never there, he didn't know that Biden wasn't really regarded all that well by his colleagues? Just guessing. And yes, Biden had all kind of foreign policy experience (what Obama really lacked), but it was all wrong!

224 I've helped build about half a dozen H4H homes, pouring the basement floors, driveways, etc. A couple times we straight up did it for free, materials, labor, etc., but usually we did it for a deep discount. This was years ago but I still have a couple "I helped build it" t-shirts with the street address of the homes and the date they were finished.

OAKLAND, Calif. (AP) -- Former President Jimmy Carter said Monday that the income gap in the United States has increased to the point where members of the middle class resemble the Americans who lived in poverty when he occupied the White House.

Now of course Jimmy Carter wants Ogabe to go ever leftard....

233 Fkn selfish and greedy poor people~! Whatevah. I think an idea worth considering is opening the program up. Let the millions who are unemployed/underemployed work on these homes. Learn something of value. Accumulate credits for hours put in and then; sell or give away those credits, or use them themselves. Open up the sale of the homes to any individual, no matter rich or poor, or middle class. Capital flows from rich -- who may buy them for rental income -- or middle class, who may live in them -- to poor. The nation ends up with a supply of affordable homes, people learn some responsibility, some job skills, instead of waiting around for some job opening which is never going to happen. That's my .02

re contractors:  there are contractors and contractors.  My husband is one, and is often brought in to fix or implement government messes.  The problems he discusses (of those he CAN) that seem paramount to me are that legislation is seldom designed around HOW to achieve the feelings for which alleviation is sought by creating the program, consequently projects will have mutually exclusive goals (as far as how things actually work) that are both supposed to somehow magically work.  because it got voted on.

There are layers and layers of govt folks who all administer, meet, supervise, and so on--and a bunch of folks who get brought in to clean things up and make them work--if they can get the fixes explained to the admins, supes etc in multiple mtgs so THEY can go to OTHER govt meetings and get somebody to vote to do what the techs suggest.

Add in that some govt tech folks are dinosaurs--a dept gets a multimillion $ system, and it doesn't get replaces/upgraded as fast as the industry moves, and they NEED to bring in contractors because the GS-whatever is a complete and total expert on something that's 2.5 versions ago.

It's already a mess of epic proportion before you ever get to crony whiz kids, which I'm sure happens too.  That, and the joke in my husband's set that a lot of the people they work with are "Peggy"--you know the guy in the Siberian shack answering the help line in the commercials?

255 228. The US Constitution, Bill of Rights and our Republic are exceptional. To the degree that we Americans carry on our unique heritage for posterity, we remain exceptional as a people. Even the amalgamation of ethnicity being respected equally under the law has proven exceptional. Where else in the world have people so well become "color blind" to deny racist impulse. Therein, the sick irony. Socialists won't ever permit peaceful coexistence. And it took a 50% African American illegitimate Potus to make Americans ballistic, regardless of ethnicity, regardless of beliefs. So to the degree that Americans take back our Constitutional Republic, indeed we prove an exceptional generation that will not bow to tyranny, and will not bow to divisive patterns of defeat. 279 Why the fuck did I finish high school and go to college instead of being a junkie whore? Posted by: HeatherRadish™ needs a day off at October 08, 2013 09:34 AM (/kI1Q) You know why. And you are right that crime sticks to tax funds. Corruption and Fraud hoard the bulk before any public service materializes. What Seattle or any city does with their low income housing is their own business. If Seattle has its own local money to build low cost housing, it's Seattle's business. Jobs are increasingly harder to land. Those who went through recession stagflation before know the signs too well. And that was before the US was already bankrupted. An increasing number of Americans are looking for housing they can afford. Already, 75% of American jobs today are in the service industry, and the pay only provides for low cost living standards, housing et al., and now the hours are decreased. Take PBS source with the grain of salt. But back in 1970, meat packers earned over $50K/yr. Today they earn less than $30K/yr. And that's not addressing inflation in the what housing the working "class" can afford. It's hard, working, as you attest. It's even harder working for low pay. Even if the wage looks good per hour, when the hours are cut to part time, a lot of professionals end up alongside service employee low income. I'd venture to guess that the wealthiest Americans have their own access to tax subsidies (TARP, bail-outs of too big to fail/jail corporations) which hurt the Middle Class tax payers far worse than low cost housing ever could. If it's the principle of attacking those who abuse our tax funds, then go after the big shots. Those who went through recession stagflation before know from experience. And that was before the US was bankrupted. An increasing number of Americans are looking for housing they can afford. What's a city to do? Which requires less effort, less tax and more revenue? Building/maintaining new freeways to suburbia new "developments" or low cost housing in/near downtown for employed low income working class?

280 279. Today Commemorate 1871 No telling whether meteor or tinderbox inner city construction or both. wiki: The Peshtigo Fire was a forest fire that took place on October 8, 1871 in Peshtigo, Wisconsin. It was a firestorm that caused the most deaths by fire in United States history, with reported deaths of around 1,500 people, or possibly as many as 2,500. Occurring on the same day as the more famous Great Chicago Fire, the Peshtigo Fire has been largely forgotten. On the same day as the Peshtigo and Chicago fires the cities of Holland and Manistee, Michigan, across Lake Michigan, also burned, and the same fate befell Port Huron at the southern end of Lake Huron. Global Firestorm The material ejected from the meteor impact through the hole in the atmosphere will re-enter all over the globe and heat up from the friction with the atmosphere. The chunks of material will be hot enough to produce a lot of infrared light. The heat from the glowing material will start fires around the globe. Global fires will put about 7 × 1010 tons of soot into the air.
