Happy Wednesday.

Another day, another story about gullible liberal voters who are "miffed" to discover what Obamacare is really all about. "If you guessed that she got no response from any of those elected officials, you win a box of cough drops."

Poll: only 19 percent think that healthcare will improve in the next year because of Obamacare. 43 percent say it will get worse, with 33 percent saying no difference.

Surprise, surprise, the Obama White House is already preparing the press for the obvious and inevitable: the Healthcare.gov website will not be ready by 11/30.

Top Cuccinelli and McAuliffe aids continue to talk about what just happened in Virginia.

6 of the 14 new states on the UN Human Rights Commission have a history of human rights abuses.

1 Good Morning Morons.  Today is Wednesday, November 13, 2013.  On this day in 1927 The Holland Tunnel opened between NYC and NJ.  The original toll was 50 cents.  It's $13 now, which is much greater than inflation.

2 Dianne Feinstein Mary Landrieu don't like their shit sandwich.  They are sponsoring a bill to "force" insurance companies to restore cancelled policies.   This is BS, if you want to restore the policies repeal the BS law in its entirely.  But the normal mind of the Democrat doesn't work that way.  Screw up and pass a bad law, why just pass another bad law to fix it.

The Battery Tunnel was the second tunnel constructed right?  As I understand it, the tunnels are much cheaper to build than bridges because of the property that has to be bought for the bridge.

41 35 Posted by: Vic at November 13, 2013 06:56 AM (zZbNF) I guess not having to acquire property for bridge abutments, approaches, etc. would lower costs. Then you have union and mafia corruption with government kickbacks and the cost goes through the roof, so there is that. BTW, the original concept was for a bridge instead of a tunnel at Battery Park. Would have looked hideous and chewed up a lot of land. But, that's Robert Moses for you. What a prick, and a powerful one at that. We are still feeling the effects of his 40 years controlling the city. And because of him (NOT Walter O'Malley), Brooklyn lost the Dodgers.

I'm done with Fox's Sleepy Hollow. Latest episode had them trashing Thomas Jefferson. Icky Crane said something nice about him and the two cops he was with countered with his affair with Sally Hemings and getting her pregnant. Crane didn't believe them. They said it's been proven by DNA testing.

They also informed Crane T.J. was a plagiarist. Crane told the two cops about a statement he made to T.J. regarding those who don't read newspapers are more informed than those who do (I don't remember the exact line). Then they showed Crane the same quote from a book which T.J. took credit for. Crane was disgusted.

My old doctor, who was not a pill-pusher, said that statins should be like fluoride in the water. He said they were amazing in preventing a range of things including heart disease and some cancers. Only a very small percentage of people are sensitive to liver damage, which is why you take a blood test a week or so after starting on them. Amazing how the "logic" on this issue seems to change every so often. But that is such a huge swing from panacea to poison. I tend to go with my old doctor's reaction.

That is a common lie propagated by the race mongers and the so-called descendents that want to be buried in the Jefferson cemetery (which is still active).

What the DNA testing shows is that there is a probability that a male in the Jefferson line fathered some of those children. Jefferson also had a brother who was known to be active in that type of affair and who had plenty of opportunity.

I used to take the Amtrak over that thing twice a week back in the '80s.  I don't know if they've fixed it up any since then, but you used to be able to look down and see nothing but the water below in the spaces between the railroad ties.  After seeing that your mind would, for some reason, suddenly seize upon the fact that railroad trains do not float...

86 Getting their hands in the till is Job #1 for our RINO rulers, looking out for citizens is not even in the top ten! Posted by: Hrothgar Establishment RINO I've said this here before, but... Dad led a county-wide GOTV campaign locally that basically had a massive door-to-door effort of folks saying 'We want you to get out and vote. We want you to vote Republican, but mainly we want you to vote!" It was so successful, it made the news and attracted the attention of the state GOP. Dad ended up as GOP committeeman, helped lead a state-wide GOTV effort that got us our first GOP governor, and started forces in motion which, ultimately, changed the state from Southern Dem to Reagan Republican. Pix of Mom & Dad w Ike & Mamie, & with Dick & Pat, of me & my sister with Goldwater at our house, are some of my treasures. Gov. Henry Bellmon's bio covers this. Dad gets a chapter. Dad once told me, the state GOP hadn't been so much interested in winning as in fundraising, and Dad was not as 'controllable' as they had thought. Dad died in January '68, when I was 15 and I was already forcibly distanced from him due to my folks' divorce a few years before. No 'inheritance' of knowledge or wisdom from all that. (Just like the ancestral business wisdom lost between generations.) I never got to talk with him about how exactly they did it. As you can imagine, I often ponder it. I also often pray the spirit of that remarkable state turnaround comes to our nation.

91 30. 34. J.J. I agree with you and with Mark Levin on this. There is no "fixing" what was always thoroughly authoritarian, abusive, and fraudulent in terms of "providing health care". It's an insurance Ponzi scheme scam, NOT designed to provide medical treatment, certainly not designed for affordable health care availability. ACA has no firm foundation. "Fixing" it will only address some cosmetic facade. The structure is unsound, built to collapse, but only after first taking down the working Middle Class to rubble. Don't fool yourself into thinking that you can afford ACA with a second job. Whatever figures are printed will be revised to inflate, federal too big to fail bubble burst, crash. http://tinyurl.com/p2gquxy House Conservatives File a Brief Challenging Legality of O-Care Pacific Legal FoundationÂ’s legal challenge to Obamacare received important backing in the form of an amicus brief filed by Congressman Trent Franks, R-Arizona, Chairman of the House Judiciary Subcommittee on the Constitution, joined by several dozen other members of the House. 93 91  The entire Sally Hemming story is predicated on him having an affair with her while in France. At the time he was in France he was having a well-documented affair with a married French lady, supposedly with the permission and knowledge of her husband who was quite elderly.

It is highly doubtful that he was having an affair with his slave at the same time he was having an affair with high member of French society.

When a Republican wins they must win by > 5,000 votes if a statewide race.  And even then it is not always enough.

The laws of probability would say Republicans should win at least 50% of these close elections.  But somehow the Dems always win.

When tuning in the drug, you're got to stay on one dosage for at least 6 weeks, then test. The goal is to get the results at lowest possible dosage.

It's a very strong pain killer like Motrin, so it can lead to bleeding. Colcrys relieves the source of the pain by dissolving the uric acid crystals in the joint as opposed to just killing the pain.

40% regression on fixes means a product is not even close to ready.  That's the kind of regression rates you see on product under active development with major design changes happening, NOT one in shutdown it down and ship phase.

In shutdown phase when you're only cherry picking selected, heavily code reviewed showstoppers to fix, you'd be seeing 10-20% regression.

Anyone else offended by the Progressive Insurance commercial that has people jumping onto the driver's car hood and start sucking on the windshield like remoras?  Then it explained to the driver that they are "Rate suckers" that suck money from the driver to subsidize their insurance. Then the Progressive insurance person talks the driver into putting a memory stick in the driver's car to monitor how the driver drives, so they will get lower rates.

So now libs think it is bad for someone to what others to subsidize their insurance? Farking hypocrites!

I was aware what a propaganda lie the Daisy Girl ad was, but I did not then as well appreciate for what Goldwater stood and what he stood against. Not that many folks about whom I can say, time has only increased my appreciation of him. Also reflected upon over the years: anyway, Mr Johnson, a small tactical field nuke dropped near Hanoi would've been quite a game-changer, wouldn't it've? Clue: Hiroshisaki '45. Probably wouldn't really've set off WWNuke.... :/

IIRC, there were dark mutterings from Our Pundit Overlords on various sites if commenters dared bring up the notion of voter fraud. Apparently, it was Bad Optics to suggest that the same people for whom we were instructed to perform the aisle-reach might try to violate our rights.

When said voter fraud is finally exposed, it's "too late to do anything about it," and we'll get 'em next time when we have a candidate who is a True Tea Party Conservative. Or something.

173 Just out of curiosity, does anyone happen to know whether political fundraisers (committees and campaigns) send different mailings to different people based on how the fundraisers' lists categorize the addressee politically? The reason I ask is because the mailings I get consistently have fairly red-meat conservative content. I assume already that individual candidate campaigns bake this into who gets mailed based on where and how their lists are sourced. What I wonder is whether the national orgs like NRCC or NRSC send different (almost to the point of contradiction) content to individuals when soliciting donations. I know this is trivial to execute these days and is done fairly regularly by retailers. If this is the case, then there is no base. That would make us no more than a coalition of blind men feeling up an elephant.

His mother remarried in the church hierarchy to Heber C. Kimball before the Utah trek west. She died when JFS was 13. Two years later, he was sent to the Sandwich Islands on a four year church mission to convert the natives. In 1857 he called back to join the Mormon militia (dislocated Nauvoo Legion, still) with his step-father's regiment in the Utah War patrolling the Eastern Rockies vs. US Army. It's floored me from the first day with the company. The most striking change, insurance broker Steve Jakowchik said, is among clients who can get pretty good deals, but only if they give up access to the doctors and hospitals they now use. Because his practice is on the Westside, he's hearing from clients who aren't happy about losing Cedars-Sinai Medical Center and UCLA Medical Center as hospital options.

"I just ran into one of these today," said Jakowchik, who told me about a Marina del Rey family that has to decide between a big premium increase and access to Cedars, or much lower premiums but a choice between hospitals in Torrance or the San Fernando Valley.

"What -- leave the Marina and go North of the Mountains? North of Ventura Boulevard even? *shudders*"

As expected, the ObamaCare website won't work.  It has to do too many things, such as drawing information from systems that were never designed to be accessed this way.  Perhaps it never can access those systems without risking the destruction of those systems.

Can you imagine the chaos if the ObamaCare website accessed Social Security's database and ended up hopelessly corrupting that database, essentially wiping it out so that it would need to be reconstructed?  Even the most fervant ObamaCare supporter in Congress would be running to get his place in the torch-and-pitchfork mob if only to save his own precious hide.

274 My problem is how some docs want to rush healthy people to statins when nothing in their risk profile substantiates doing so. Once folks go down the statin road it can mess with them in negative ways that docs don't pay enough attention to. Folks are better off exploring diet and exercise alternatives before even considering statins. No I'm not a doc nor do I play one on tv. But the pharma companies have a racket and people need to be mindful that their docs might not have the best info about their particular situation.

279 The torrents of Affordable Care Act monsoon season arenÂ’t letting up, so Democrats are scrambling to help the victims: namely, their own careers. The Senators up for re-election in competitive states in 2014 are starting to panic, though they still arenÂ’t offering solutions for anything other than their own growing political jeopardy.

Fifteen Senate Democrats plus Colorado’s Michael Bennet who chairs the Senatorial Campaign Committee sat down at the White House Wednesday, and they want all and sundry to know that they let President Obama have it. Alaska’s Mark Begich put out a statement saying he chewed out the big cheese for “absolutely unacceptable” mismanagement and “an understandable crisis in confidence.” He must have drafted it in advance.

Oregon’s Jeff Merkley chimed in to report that even after the two-hour encounter session that was not on the public schedule, he was still “very frustrated” and “I remain deeply convinced that this is a ‘show-me’ moment.” Asked by Politico if Democrats were losing credibility, an anonymous attendee said, “You got to have it, to lose it.”
