Happy Thursday.

Let's review. Obamacare's problems:

(1) The website is broken.

(2) The payment and accounting and administration back-end is unwritten, untested, and out of time.

(3) They are seriously out of time to do something about those 3.5 to 5 million people whose insurance has been cancelled. To be covered by Jan 1, they have to get a new plan by Dec 15, which means 140,000 to 200,000 of them need to be enrolling every day between now and then, including weekends and the Thangsfrickingiving holiday, which ain't gonna happen ya'll.

(4) Adverse selection a.k.a. the death spiral a.k.a. the shit spiral is coming. See Ace's post last night on the Kentucky exchange's obvious precursor to the shit spiral.

(5) Next year we get to do this same song and dance with the group plans as the employer mandate kicks in.

(6) Lawsuits. There are some nontrivial lawsuits pending including the contraception mandate challenges and the suits based on the fact that the statute doesn't actually allow HHS to offer subsidies on the federal exchange or impose the employer mandate on states that didn't implement their own exchanges.

(7) There are still 40 million uninsured Americans according to President Obama. Which seems to me to be just a bit of a failure of the aims of Obamacare.

[8] The plans on the exchanges likely will not let people keep the provider networks of doctors, hospitals and specialists they currently use, making continuity of care impossible. [Andy]

[9] Obamacare appears to be nothing more that an enormous expansion of Medicaid, the worst-performing health program in the country. [Andy]

What am I missing. We can line up more than seven nine, right?

2 Good Morning Morons.  Today is Thursday, November 21, 2013.  On this day in 1620 the Plymouth Colony settlers signed the Mayflower Compact.   Contrary to popular sentiment, they did not flee England and come to America for religious freedom.  They came to establish a colony for "their" religion with all others prohibited.

The original manuscript has been lost but William Bradford transcribed it in his journal, Mourt's Relation and that handwritten version is still around.  It is currently located in a vault in MA.  Below is that version.  There are also two other versions written in the journal but they differ only slightly as to content.

4 More idiocy from our military leadership under King Obama Seti the first.  Must have ugly women for Army promotional materials to reflect reality.  Hey, lets show them pulling KP, scrubbing garbage cans, and an episode of kissing their CO's ass while getting chewed out for not bowing down to the latest PC craze involving homosexuals.  Do that and you have reality.  This is all in preparation for Obama's change to put women in combat contrary to US law.

Title 10, U.S.C. 3012 states that women can not be in "routine engagement in direct combat." This, however, leaves them to engage in occasional combat. Still, women are not allowed to hold certain positions, which would almost certainly put them into combat situations.

There has been zero Congressional action to repeal this law.

Here is the time table for employer insurance cancellations; next Fall just before the elections.  They are expecting between 50 and 100 million cancellations.   By then the private insurance cancellations will probably have hit between 15 and 20 million.  Gee what will happen with 120 million people losing their insurance and being soaked to the tune of $10,000 to $15,000 a year and Robert's taxes?  Can you say blood in the streets?

Is that why all the departments in the government are forming SWAT teams and buying up all the ammo in the US?   That may sound like black helicopters and Alex Jones but this kind of shit has become the norm now.

I was at the September 10th Tea Party Exempt America Rally.

Now, there are those who say we accomplished nothing, because America was not expempted, and Obamacare proceeded apace.  But what we did was ensure that Our Betters In Washington would be locked into their disasterous implementation schedule, because we were out there on the lawn of the Capitol demanding, at minimum, a one-year delay.

Once the Terrorists and Hostage Takers of the Tea Party demand something, that thing becomes the definition of evil.  There is no way this Administration was going to give us anything that even smelled like a concession.  So, when the end of September rolled around, and the implementation train-wreck was looming, there was no way they could hold off implementation for even a month or two, because that is what the Tea Party wanted.

So, did we accomplish nothing?  Or did we bring this Adminstration to their knees?

The IRA kidnapped and "disappeared" a number of civilians for no real reason but that they were accused of collaboration with the Brits. A mother of 12 was dragged out in front of her children and held and severely beaten. Later, she was dragged out again and "disappeared." Twelve kids 16 and under, no father, and no one gave a shit. The family priest didn't want to be bothered with them. A teenage boy who was also murdered was given last rites before he was shot and buried. When did priests start participating in murders? All this was done on order of Gerry Adams. I don't understand why none of the families have gutted him like a fish.

73 Forget about the details of the problem. Forget about trying to come up with solutions. No one seems to be picking up on the fact that this ACA was never supposed to "work." It's doing exactly as it was intended: breaking America. The last thing Obama wants to do it "fix" it. Obama has no embarrassment or remorse because everything's working exactly as planned. _Nothing_ about the ACA has anything to do wtih healthcare. It is al a pretext to enslave us. The only fix for the problem is revolt.

77 By the way, in the Michael Mann lawsuit against Mark Steyn and National Review, Mann claimed in his filing to have won a Nobel Peace Prize in conjunction with his colleagues who together wrote the 2001 IPCC scare report. Apparently, some of the group had taken to making replicas of the medal out of tin or something and wearing them publicly. Nobel has issued a public statement saying Mann never won a Peace Prize and all these clowns should stop their fake-medal shenanigans too. The lefty entertainment is non-stop.

Yep, one of the biggest mistakes the "conspiracy" people make when discussing that bullet is to not realize, or pretend  to not realize the seats in the limo  were arranged in such a way so as to have Kennedy and Connolly  NOT lined up perfectly, but for Kennedy's seat to be lined up so a bullet traveling through his throat would hit Connolly on the right side of his body, which is exactly what it did.

I grew up listening to Irish revolutionary songs. I fucking hate those guys. They had a just cause and up until the 60s fought an arguably just war. Then they went terrorist.

From the 70s on, they traded tradecraft and cooperated with the Arab terrorists.
Which helped the Arabs kill the Americans (New York and Boston esp) who were funding the IRA.

Barry might find suddenly all those scandals nobody cares about - the IRS, Benghazi, etc - become things that he gets charged with impeachment for.

The only thing protecting him from those scandals was a public that didn't care.  Give the public a reason to want Barry's ass on the street (like losing insurance) and they'll come around on any reason to get him out.

Approximately 55 Federal organizations, each with its own operational and management software.  At least one hundred interfaces among these, each of which becomes its own complex software application.

Add to that:

Hundreds of state level organizations.  Hundreds of insurance companies.  Hundreds of thousands of health care providers and organizations.  Thousands of interfaces among these, which becomes hundreds to thousands more complex software applications.

Hundreds of thousands of companies.  Millions of consumers.  All of which and whom have their own interface requirements.  To address the individual health care needs of 350,000,000 people.

(Anyone who claims to know the precise numbers is most likely demonstrating they have no clue about the magnitude of the problem.)

And these people think this is just a "web site" problem.

"Fucking moron" doesn't come close to describing the degree of stupidity demonstrated by Democrats and other Leftists in creating the Obamacare Cluster Fuck (OCF).

172 From the WSJ piece: Nicole Hopkins: ObamaCare Forced Mom Into Medicaid: My mother preferred to pay for her care rather than be on the government dole. Now she has no choice. Instead, almost mockingly, her "Eligibility Results" came back: "Congratulations, we received and reviewed your application and determined you will receive the health care coverage listed below: Washington Apple Health. You will receive a letter telling you which managed care plan you are enrolled with." Washington Apple Health is the mawkish rebranding of Medicaid in Washington state. The page lacked a cancel button or any way to opt out of Medicaid. It was done; she was enrolled, and there was nothing to do but click "Next" and then to sign out. Going exactly as planned. And, demoralizing people as they do it. This is a very sad article.

179 The Obama administration has drafted a plan to shutter an intercontinental ballistic missile (ICBM) squadron three years after it assured hesitant lawmakers that the New START U.S.-Russia arms reduction treaty would not lead to deep cuts in the ICBM force. A new timeline prepared by the Office of the Secretary of Defense (OSD) and obtained by the Washington Free Beacon maps out a strategy to eliminate an ICBM squadron—and destroy its missile silos—by Dec. 5, 2017. An environmental assessment would begin next month. The document says the reductions are necessary to “meet the New START Treaty compliance date by closing an ICBM squadron and eliminating the associated Launch Facilities.” Several Democrats on the Senate ICBM coalition voted for New START, vowing that the treaty would maintain a strong ICBM force. Sens. Max Baucus (D.) and Jon Tester (D.), both from Montana, the home of many ICBMs, issued a press release in 2010 backing New START and saying that the missiles would “continue to play a key role in U.S. national security for decades to come.” “There was some talk around this town about making deep reductions to the ICBM force,” Baucus said in the press release. “We made it clear to the president that was unacceptable, and fought hard to make sure the START Treaty recognized the critical role that ICBMs play in U.S. national security.” Baucus and Tester did not respond to requests for comment. So obama is selling the US of A down the river along with Israel. Well at least we have good company?

Inre Gabe's post, I think it's a mistake to say the problems with Obamacare revolve around how it's being executed, which seems to me to be the focus of the laundry list.  Doing so cedes a giant-ass point against the scheme, which is that it puts government in an active role in one of the most personal/private things in a person's life.

Making the argument about how it's rolled out, eg complaining about the website, about regulations forcing cancellations of policies, etc, fails to close the rhetorical door against a candidate who wants to say that  the concept of socialized healthcare is sound but the way Obama did it was flawed.

It's a nice complaint list, but I think it misses the giant matzo in the living room.

O-care has something for everybody, unless you are rich and/or connected-

1.) Young and poor?-   You get crappy Medicaid

2.) Young and employed?-  You get high premium metal plans

3.)  Middle aged and middle class?-  You get laid off or your employer dumps you onto the exchanges.

4. Old?-  Your Medicare Advantage goes away, your premiums for Medicare supplemental coverage likely to go up.

227 Re the victim who thinks her attackers are the true victims:  Many years ago, probably during the Clinton administration, somebody tipped off the WaPo that many bookstores were holding popular books by black authors or of interest to black readers behind the counter and not on the shelves.  Smelling some nefarious racism, the WaPo investigated.  While many of the bookstores contacted admitted that they were doing this, only one was willing to admit anonymously why they were doing this.  This was in the run-up to the holidays and there had been a rash of snatch-and-grab shoplifting of these books of interest to the black community.  The anonymous employee mentioned a stack of $50 coffee table books about the black family that had just disappeared from the store.  Faced with this, the stores were doing what they always do with the titles that are likely to be stolen and keeping them behind the counter so that customers had to ask for them.  The bookstores surmised that the stolen books were being sold at a deep discount for some quick cash.  The WaPo's intrepid reporter then contacted a local author whose books were being held behind the counter.  She said she was unaware of this, but then said something like, "Well, if it puts my novel in the hands of people who otherwise couldn't afford it, maybe the thieves are doing me a favor."  (I guess she was unaware of the existence of libraries.)  The reporter must have asked her what her publisher would think about that because she added, "Of course, I wouldn't want my agent or publisher to suffer because of the thefts."  And that was when I realized that there are no limits to the rationalizations that liberals will make for bad behavior in the black community.

The details of my life are quite inconsequential ... Very well, where do I begin? My father was a relentlessly self-improving boulangerie owner from Belgium with low-grade narcolepsy and a penchant for buggery. My mother was a 15-year-old French prostitute named Chloé with webbed feet. My father would womanize; he would drink. He would make outrageous claims like he invented the question mark. Sometimes, he would accuse chestnuts of being lazy. The sort of general malaise that only the genius possess and the insane lament ... My childhood was typical: summers in Rangoon ... luge lessons ... In the spring, we'd make meat helmets ... When I was insolent I was placed in a burlap bag and beaten with reeds — pretty standard, really. At the age of 12, I received my first scribe. At the age of 14, a Zoroastrian named Vilmer ritualistically shaved my testicles. There really is nothing like a shorn scrotum — it's breathtaking ... I suggest you try it.

Making the argument about how it's rolled out, eg complaining about the website, about regulations forcing cancellations of policies, etc, fails to close the rhetorical door against a candidate who wants to say that the concept of socialized healthcare is sound but the way Obama did it was flawed.

It's puzzling why nobody ever points out the economic results of 404Care, many of which have already happened and continue to happen, like people's hours getting cut to 29 to comply.

And with everybody's premiums going through  the   roof, they'll  have a lot less disposable income. That's  gonna make this recession even worse.

Much political hay could be made just on the economic alone,  but isn't. They're not called the Party of Stoopid for nothing.  A smart candidate (yeah, I know) would be pointing and  saying, "See what happens when you violate the Constitution..."

as
abortion  is to washing hands with anti-bacterial soap

Even that I'm not as worked up as I should, because that kind of thing was going on before Obama even came onto the scene.

For example, some years ago I took my then-six month old kid to the pediatrician for a checkup.  The doctor started asking me about how I stored household chemicals.  I kind of looked at her odd, but I said yeah, they are kept under the sink and why was she asking this.

She said they were some suggested questions from the AMA to open a dialogue about keeping kids safe.

She then asked THE GUN QUESTION.

I kind of looked at her and said "so is my son OK?"  She got the message.

You have an excellent point about how government getting ahold of such things is bad bad bad, but the actual invasive out-of-bounds questions has been going on for awhile, sadly.

Your body, to what health protocol you must submit as treatment. As if anyone aside from yourself knows better or CARES MORE than you how things affect your well being and economic stability. Political opportunistic bureaucrats use governmental agencies to implement organized crime, intent on monopolizing all power for abuse and personal profits, of course. ("Because I Could"/Clinton) As for private property? I understand the role Wilson set up for the Federal Reserve to "own" our property, though even that is perverted and unconstitutional, the Fed instead of Congress issuing legal tender. Now top the ACA with the IRS ordering your compliance, not just to payments as federally mandated, but to treatments whether good or bad in your case. And you can NOT sue anyone involved in ACA for malpractice: no health practitioner or clinic/hospital, no pharmaceutical, no manufacturer, no gov agency or agent. 194 above: "(6) Lawsuits. 301 We just had a speaker, founder of the field as it were, who is totally convinced selective abortion of Downs babies is not actually happening.
Her evidence is the Show "Glee" which I guess has a downs actor now (I don't watch it.)  This passes for "luminary" these days. (IIRC, Selective abortion is more or less a proven event, just because we haven't seen the longer term fallout of it yet doesn't meant it doesn't exist.)

In the Down's "community" as it is, the figure always bandied about is 90% are aborted if there is a pre-natal diagnosis.  I am not sure I buy that figure.  But a lot of folks put stock in it.

Archbishop Chaput gave a Witherspoon Lecture sometime last year where he questioned that figure but added that the real figure seems to be about 65%.

Even THAT is fucking horrific.

Anyway the NTSB is getting ready to hand down a new regulation (another rogue agency action) that will require 3 pt seat belts on all commercial buses.   Note the downplaying of government is once again exempt from a law or regulation here.

The irony is this is that this is fallout from a school bus fatality which spurred the call for bus seat belts.  School buses and all city buses are exempt.  The only ones required to have these belts are private buses.

There's a rumor that a high level mission position at a certain large Hospital was actually offered to a Baptist whose sole catholic training consisted of one class in our department (which had to be dumbed down so she could keep up.) While she turned it down (because she wanted to go be a high powered DC lawyer) they then passed it to the people who describe themselves as "Catholic but wanting to change the church." 355 Good morning all!

Last night on Greta, the young lady who was the victim of the "knock out" crime (I'm calling it a crime, not a fucking 'game') spoke with her on air about her attack.  She was describing how it all went down and then Greta asked her what she thought should happen to the young men who attacked here.

This is where it got ridiculous....

The lady, Phoebe, said that she believes the reason why these men were doing this was because she thought they didn't have enough activities or hobbies to do.  She also said that she works in that field, as some sort of counsellor to young kids.

Just a reminder, this lady is from DC.  From her interview last night, she is not saying she blames the men for attacking her.  The reason why they did it is because they don't have anything else to do.  She didn't even report this to the police until the next day, and then only after when her friends told her to google "knock out game".  During the time between her attack and her calling 911, another woman was attacked the same way, possibly by the same exact men who attacked her.

Ettes....please be careful out there.  If you are out alone and you see a group of men and you just get a "feeling", move to the other side of the street or avoid them.  Don't feel embarrassed doing so!  This is getting worse because the MFM isn't doing its proper reporting.  The police can't be everywhere at all times either.  So it's up to you to protect yourself.  Don't assume anything.

370 Must read: http://www.redstate.com/2013/11/20/a-second-chance-for-republicans/ At the very minimum, conservatives need to push for two concessions: 1 - Even if they already surrendered the budget battle, they must secure an agreement from Democrats to pass all of next year’s 12 appropriations bills in regular order and go to conference on each bill individually. This will lay the groundwork for fighting Obamacare in one or two bills without having the rest of the government as collateral damage in a shutdown. That would give us the opportunity, at the very latest, to fight Obamacare right before the mid-term elections without the specter of a full government shutdown. 2 - Republicans always said they wouldn’t mind fighting just the debt ceiling because there is no direct government shutdown. Well, now is the time to start debunking the myth of default and committing to ending this practice of suspending the debt ceiling law. The debt ceiling fight will coincide with the period of time when American workers begin to receive their first paychecks for 2014. Most people will incur a large bite out of their pay due to the increased withholdings for higher premiums. This will augment the public disquiet that is already brewing from the destruction of private insurance. Any Republican who blithely ignores Obamacare when it really counts and when we really have leverage does not deserve your vote. Obamacare will not collapse on its own. We must force the fight once and for all – without the full-scale sabotage campaign from the GOP establishment. amen

The last being most important. Jus' sayin'. I always feel bad for Boy BFF's wife whenever he and I are at a gathering of their friends who have never experienced he and I interacting before, let alone interacting when we are liquored up. We've been friends for going on 20 years and there's no filter, I mean absolutely no filter at all whatsoever in how we speak to each other. For those who have met me, think of how quickly (and loudly) I speak. Multiply that by two. Now factor in that we are talking to each other and simultaneously and thus whoever speaks loudest and fastest enough wins. Yeah. She's had to make all kinds of apologies for us.

432 What am I missing. We can line up more than seven nine, right? Don't forget that not only will coverage networks be markedly smaller, but also the plan you have in one part of the state probably won't be accepted in ANOTHER part of the state. So even if your college student gets to stay on your health insurance (provided you get to keep your health insurance), if he or she doesn't go to college just down the street from where you live, they won't be able to use it. Posted by: MWR, Proud Tea(rrorist) Party Assault Hobbit at November 21, 2013 08:41 AM (4df7R) Yes. That WSJ piece I referenced somewhere in this thread showed how one woman had ONE option, Medicaid. BTW,

How does this sound:

Pharm. D, M.D or Ph.D. with a medical & clinical focus.
- Command of written English.
- Computer skills (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Internet, Intranet, etc.).
- Presentation skills and training skills.
- Interpersonal skills.
- Knowledge of pharmacology and pharmacotherapy in humans with experience in discussing this with HCPs.
- May have some practical clinical experience.

Residency and/or Post-doctoral training in a clinical practice/pharmaceutical industry setting.
Qualifications and/or training in a Health Outcomes-related discipline also an advantage.
Clinical experience in situations where direct/or indirect decision making authority for patient care was demonstrated (e.g. direct patient care, treatment protocol development, drug therapy guidelines development, traditional clinical pharmacy practice settings) or medical liaison experience.

The Medical Science Liaison (MSL) exists to provide non-promotional, medical support that helps to ensure the safe and effective use of UmbreallaÂ’s medicines, through effective scientific interactions with external stakeholders, to provide support to clinical development colleagues in site selection and site issues with investigators conducting Umbrella clinical trials, and to provide scientific support for Umbrella internal stakeholders.

The MSL is the field-based scientific expert on their assigned therapy area, disease area, clinical practice and competitor landscape. Through their expertise and external interactions they will gain and share medical voice of the customer that will assist in the development and execution of innovative Medical Affairs strategies and plans that clearly support Umbrella development of medicines of value for patients and customers.

The language and activities of MSLs must at all times reflect the medical nature of their role, be fair, balanced, non-promotional, scientific and evidence-based. MSLs must ensure full compliance with Umbrella Code, SOPs and US laws & regulations for all medical and promotional activities, in line with the principles of Scientific Engagement.

The preferred locations for MSL to reside: St. Louis, Kansas City, Omaha*****

464 You skipped making us a part time nation. I've told this personal story several times. My wife and I have a Section 8 tenant who's $1173/mo rent has been completely covered by the taxpayer for three years. In January she finally found work, full time, and began weaning herself from public assistance. She was readjusted to have to pay a hefty portion of her rent, and I have to assume this occurred across a spectrum of other benefits I know she received...food stamps, Medicaid, free bus passes. But in Aug or Sept, before the employer mandate was extended, she called me and told me she and her co-employees were called in and told they were all being transitioned to 29 1/2 hour maximum work weeks, and specifically told the ACA was the reason. She now is part time and we had to get another readjustment in her rent to the point where she is only responsible for around $100.
