Happy Monday.

ICYMI, WaPo had a piece on how the White House let politics destroy its Obamacare rollout.

The President will be spending some time this week campaigning for Obamacare. No, the website's not fixed yet. He's got one answer for everything -- a speech -- and, by Golly, if that's all he can do then that's all he'll do.

National Journal's Ron Founier doesn't think Obama has learned anything from the failed Obamacare rollout and expects more "insularity, incompetence, and deception" as things get worse.

Megan McArdle picks apart the latest Democratic lie that people who get their insurance through their employers are unaffected by the Obamacare disaster.

I'm sure in his speech Obama will talk about howno one is as angry as he and how he will not rest until someone is held respsonsible.  You know, just like the Tea Party/IRS, NSA and Benghazi.

38 Vot's nu mit yu?  Posted by: J.J. Sefton at November 04, 2013 06:55 AM

I'm seriously pissed off today (okay, so that's maybe not new).

Another week starts, and what do we have? A bunch of pundits, anal-ysts and prognosticators, each one with his own take on how some superficial part of Choom Boy's Plan to Fuck Up America has some little glitch, and makes him look not-quite-so-wonderful until it a) gets more money, b) is fixed by Google or c) gets a nice compromise from teh Eeeeeeevil Rethuglikkkans so it is Free to Save the World.

In short, since President Historic First© came wandering out of Illinois in a haze of choom smoke, he has faced a storm of mild criticism. All with no result, mainly because none of those who are paid to observe his little foibles have the balls -- or the love-for-country -- necessary to draw a damn conclusion and get behind a push to throw the Chicago Jesus's miserable treasonous ass out of office.

We're fighting fire with paper. Taking a water pistol to a .50 cal fight. Fiddling while the United States burns. Insert your favorite simile here.

Okay, so yeah, I'm a little upset. I can't believe this kind of limp-wristed detachment would have occurred 50 years ago. I don't want to believe it.

One deer, two cars.

Driving to breakfast yesterday a deer jumped out in front of my wife's 2012 GMC Acadia (I was driving).  I hit it with the left front doing about 12 to 15K in damage.

At the same moment, a woman was traveling in the opposite direction and hit the same deer as it bounced off of my car.  Honda Accord totaled.  Nobody hurt.

The deer didn't come out too well either.

The toll system you're talking about is old-tech, JJ. I had a tiny part in the marketing of one such system in the early 1990s, all drawn from its manufacturer's defense electronics work.

At least they didn't attach a missile battery to each toll plaza as "enforcement." I can see Choom Boy advocating that.

87 Interesting article in my local rag this morning about the upcoming primary fight between  the guy who was  nominated by party officials in 2012 vs. the  biracial ex-Miss America, who is a Harvard trained lawyer.

He's Mr. Reach arounds across the aisle, so people are complaining about  her challenge.  I didn't read a whole lot about her, but saw her picture, and heck if any politician is going to run against her.  Hot doesn't begin to describe her.

112 Yeah, this time of year the hunters are spooking the deer out of their usual haunts so they're wicked dangerous. If you see one crossing the road, slow down (if you're able to safely), there's usually a couple more right behind it. I've never hit one hard enough to damage a car, but I have hit a tail or two. They bolt, just that fast out of nowhere. Also, check your insurance policies, not all of them cover damage to a car caused by a deer. Expect to pay a deductible, because even though it's the deers fault, your insurance can't collect from its insurance, so you're out.

I haven't finished that WaPo article yet, but I see the continuation in there of a meme the libtards are trying to push that implementation of Obamacare is all the fault of the states that refused to do their own exchanges.  That's just bullshit.

From a project design perspective, it shouldn't matter how many states are on the federal exchange.  Each state has its own discreet offerings, but presented to the web site user the same.  They could have designed the site for a single state and simply had a sub-site for each state.

Shit.. they could have simply bought the code from one of the states that did it right!

What a bunch of fuckups.

In 1970, he got 36% of the vote which put him ahead of the other candidates. 64% of the population did not elect him to turn the country commie. Even if you have a majority, with a constitution, you can't make radical changes to a country. In 1973, they had a referendum to impeach him but did not gather enough votes. Still, 60% of the country wanted him out. The coup which was that fall, was supported by 80% of the population.

Then I'd see the same person in some technical forum and they seemed perfectly normal. I suppose we can all be like that, given the right circumstances. The wife and I were on a two-lane several years ago, when a deer jump between our car and approaching car. Nowhere to turn, fortunately, it only clipped the front end of our car. With a little work, we could still get the door open, so we never fixed it. The deer was probably badly hurt, but ran off. But coming between two cars in the middle of the night on a two lane road, that was really scary. I was a passenger asleep in the front seat in 1978, when we had a horse. When I woke up, my face was mangled, but fortunately, all that blood all over everything wasn't mine. At least most of it. You were just driving down the road, everything seems fine... WHAM

His "is" work is the more accurate of the two. And IIRC he mentioned that an EU style system (it wasn't called the EU when being floated back then) would be a disaster. You'd think the nihilist progressives would listen to their king, but no, they ignored it. And now they'll pay the price. Of course thanks to the global economy so will the rest of us I suppose.

160 The Republicans should start using the word "repeal" whenever they're asked about Obamacare disasters. Just keep putting it out there, doesn't really matter if there's a plan to do it or not. Say it enough, in the context of their latest local horror story about lost coverage, and it will become part of the debate. Maybe. Can't hurt, and we can't keep just telling scary stories without being seen as having some sort of solution.

The obvious fear of hyper-nationalism has blinded the left in Europe the undeniable fact that people like borders and fences and neighborhoods and being around like-minded people.

The trick is to structure the political process, and therefore society, so that it is contained, and allowed to create growth and vibrancy and wealth rather than xenophobia.

That was, until recently, the magic of American Exceptionalism.

I don't think Preznit Jarrett waits for shit to pass. She just grabs Barky by his jug ear, and tells him to make it so. "By his Royal Decree, all doctors herewith and henceforth shall be reimbursed with the Royal script. They may find their payment on their Royal EBT cards."

The last paragraph blames the president's team for the lies. And of course he still thinks that Obamacare would have been successful if the president wasn't so incompetent. But whatever. Megan McArdle picks apart the latest Democratic lie that people who get their insurance through their employers are unaffected by the Obamacare disaster.

It's like Obammy decided to unilaterally delay the employer mandate for a reason or something.   Like maybe because that will be   many, many times more damaging than the    immediate  consequences of    the  individual mandate,   and he wanted to push it back   far enough that the nitty gritty of Obammycare will be in full swing by the time it kicks into effect, making it that much harder to repeal this monster of a "law."

Gosh.   It's almost like a conspiracy or something.   What's a conspiracy called that's actually based in facts   and actions?   Oh right, a PLAN.

Obammy doesn't believe in any particular religion    because they all require a belief in a power greater than one's self,  be that a deity, a pantheon of deities, or a state of consciousness.  Since,  to Obammy, there is nothing greater than himself, he is a monotheistic believer in the Church of Barack.   He just pretends to care about other religions because it keeps the   plebes happy.

After the movie, I gave her all the obligatory devil talk ; yes, we really Do have exorcists in the Catholic Church; etc. and then I added: " But, the devil is such a lazy s.o.b., he doesn't do that stuff anymore. 239 Probably. As well as realizing she was nothing more than JFKs jiz-jar. I've got a recent bio of MM that makes a list of all the meds she was on at the time of her death. I'll see if I can find it and post it tomorrow. She was a very lonely, unhappy woman, but she was also flighty, paranoid and - in my opinion - suffering from at least a touch of the mental disease that plagued her mother's side of the family. As much as it's sad to look at her and wish someone could have saved her, I don't think any man could have. BTW, just as an aside, I based my novels' relationship between Theda Bara and Toby, her makeup man, on the close friendship between MM and her makeup man, Whitey Snyder. Posted by: Mary Poppins' Practically Perfect Piercing at November 04, 2013 08:52 AM (zF6Iw) I still think there's a strong probability that her death was an accidental overdose and/or a bad reaction between all the medications she was on. There was a great article by the guy who did the staging for the auction of her estate pointing out that she was far tinier than people think. This wasn't speculation, this was based on her actual clothing. He also commented that she didn't have a lot of jewels or furs and that her books were actually read.

Well, Snyder and MM weren't lovers, but they were very close.  He did her first makeup tests when she joined Twentieth Century-Fox and stayed with her to the end.  In fact, she made him promise that when she died, he would do her makeup for the funeral.  And one of the first calls DiMaggio made after her death was to Snyder: "Whitey, you're going to to her makeup, aren't you?  You promised her."  And he did.

DiMaggio tried.

Yes he did.  But note this.  The day they got married, Marilyn said to one of her friends, "I'm going to marry Arthur Miller."   Here's the thing: her first marriage to Jim Daugherty was fairly happy (although Daugherty said that she was insatiable when it came to sex, wanting it constantly).  I think if he had not joined the service and she had not become a model, she would have led a more or less content life as an ordinary (if MILFy) housewife.  But we'll never know.

She and her hubby are small business owners and had self-insured. They got the cancellation letter two weeks ago and went on the exchange to get more coverage. Over double the cost with a doubled deductible and co-pays, etc. Plus, not even one of the plans offered are taken by her doctors, specialists, or even her hospital of choice. "First Do No Harm" isn't a "principle" I've heard of very often articulated by any serious interlocutor. As a term it's usually in it's formal form: nonmaleficence. And even then it tends to apply only to patients. Consider the "4 principles" by Beauchamp and Childress, hallmarks in the field: Autonomy, beneficence, nonmaleficence and justice. Setting aside whether you agree with them in general, it's clear they aren't meant to apply to group such as prisoners. If this group (whoever they are, and I haven't heard of them before now) want to get to their point, they need to go via another direction. It's philosophically inconsistent to get there they way they're trying (unless they want to go ahead and destroy the research enterprise as a side effect.)

Also heard of another case where the parents of an infant with a chronic heart condition have been told they can no longer use their cardiologist's practice. Posted by: RushBabe at November 04, 2013 08:56 AM (hrIP5) Here's where I prove that the heartless comment about me is correct. My reaction to that piece is hey I bet those doctors still take cash. I will also admit that such a reaction stems from my pet peeve regarding the conflation of health care and health insurance. There is nothing legally preventing those people from going to those doctors and paying for it themselves. At least not yet. The issue is who will pay for it. Now, before the screaming and completely valid you heartless bitch comments start, I recognize that, as a practical matter, for many people health insurance is the determining factor as to whether they receive health care. Of course I do. Of course it's horrible that this is happening to those people. Of course it's terrible. Of course it is. It's just that this is precisely why my pet peeve exists. She lost her insurance and is now losing her health care because the payment for such treatment is entwined, kudzu like, with the treatment itself. This infuriates me because it is so unnecessary. Here's the huge divide between the Left and the Right, at least to me. I read that story and, setting aside my immediate ha ha see my pet peeve is right ha reaction, my response is that is horrible and is there anything that we can do as individuals to help raise the money so that she and others like her can pay for their treatment. Those on the Left read it and think see see the government has to fix it and ignore that the government made the problem in the first place.

I have had a few less than pleasant interactions with this woman before and I don't particularly care for her personally. But you're right that she shouldn't have to die because of this nightmare program. People make mistakes and we think she bought into the "share the wealth" lie largely because of her illness and the "cost-sharing" aspects were what appealed to her. I can see that it might be easy to buy into the idea of socialized programs when you're spending yourself into bankruptcy to stay alive. I don't think it makes it right, but at least I can understand how she might have arrived there. It is my understanding that she is not currently "sick" aside from the fact of cancer, but that if she doesn't get her care her life span (which is a few more years at this point if she continues in the generally good condition she's been in) is going to be greatly reduced because of this mess. The poor lady has to start all over with finding new docs and waiting to see new specialists and such. I can't imagine how horrible that has to be for her and her family.

Anyway, so far as the abortions, I don't know that a dozen is correct, but she certainly had plenty and did regret it, because she genuinely loved children.  But her lovers (not her husbands) loved sex more.  The writer Jim Goad once said something along the lines of her being, to men, nothing more than a talking vagina.  Which leads me to a nasty / sad story, which you're free to skip over.

It's unconfirmed (meaning that, while people have claimed to have been there or seen pictures, no real proof has turned up) that, towards the   "Mr. President" days, Marilyn and Frank Sinatra were at the Cal-Neva Lodge in Nevada.  Also there was mob boss Sam Giancana.  As a gift, a drugged-up, drunk-off-her-ass Marilyn was presented for Giancana's entertainment; pictures of the two in bed and (yuck) pictures of him riding her  as she crawled around the room  naked   on all fours  are said to exist.

281 258 I'm so sorry for your moms' friend. I don't care who people voted for - they should not have to die because of it. Posted by: mama winger at November 04, 2013 09:05 AM (P6QsQ) That's why I felt physically ill when a mentally handicapped man at church came up and told me he'd voted for Obama in a tone that indicated he was a very good boy. This man lives in a group home and there's a good chance he *will* die for a vote he didn't even understand. ---- Ugh! This past summer I was at a music festival where many mentally impaired people were picking up returnables to cash in for the deposit. It was disgusting to see these people cornered by DNC and union thugs and being told their only hope to keep their disability and other freebies was to vote for Obama. They were actually being scared.

282 This lady, who I do genuinely feel somewhat bad for because I don't wish death on anyone, is seriously pissed and greatly contrite. She emailed my mom last week to apologize for the years of political sniping and to tell mom that she (mom) was right. 283 @235, Old Sailors Poet/Palin and I quote.."If this continues you will find Unions are granfathered without conditions" When young people refuse to join, When I refuse to join, When people find out the IRS is nuteured and cant seize assets to make it work, if you are smart enough not to pay the tax, I used to give an interest free loan to Uncle Bammy, every year! This year I will end up owing $999.99. That has to hurt! No more free Obozo money from me, community organizer! He is like a libtard that just bought a gun, never having shot one, or grown up with them, then throws the safety instructions away and shoots his foot off! Obama care will go into the death spiral!

284 Americans who have newspaper subscriptions should call to cancel them, telling the papers that due to unexpected increases in Obamacare premiums they have to cut expenses
