Happy Thursday.

Country music superstars Brad Paisley and Carrie Underwood were the opening act at the Country Music Awards last night, where they mocked the hell out of the Obamacare website with a parody, "Obamacare by Morning." Video at that last link.

CBS News notes that Obama's new line that folks with employer-provided insurance will see no changes from Obamacare is just another lie.

Delaware, which got $13 million in federal taxpayer money to set up its Obamacare exchange website has enrolled just 4 people.

ABC News has highlights from the Obamacare war room memos for the first month it was live.

1 Good Morning Morons.  Today is Thursday, November 07, 2013.  On this day in 1944 FDR won an unprecedented 4th term.  This shit is how we wound up with a supreme court full of liberal commies who did not give a fig for what the Constitution said.  Good thing they passed an amendment that prohibited more than 2 terms after that.  Because Obama would run again and the Republicans would choose yet another lack-luster "moderate" and we would get 4 terms of Obama and his social justice court packing.  And as his second term winds down look for some of those old Dems on the court to retire.

2 The Dems had a big powwow with Obama yesterday to discuss delaying Obamacare until after the 2014 elections.  Hey, if you are going to keep delaying the POS why not repeal it?  It is a train wreck and the Dem instrumental in passing it has even said so.  If Obama delays it again it will be just as illegal as the first time he delayed it for the employers.  But don't look for Congress to do a damn thing about it.

23 Tales from ObamaCare: A fellow teacher at the wife's school was scheduled to retire at the end of the year, opening up a job for a young college graduate. Then her husbands affordable insurance got cancelled with a through-the-roof increase. So now she will not retire, not open a position for a college graduate, and will add her husband to her insurance. Another 'mom' at the school went from paying 20% of healthcare costs to 30%. So she'll have to spend more hours working, away from her young children. Hope and change, youngsters, hope and change.

99 68 -

Last year at this time I was voting for not just an Akin type idiot, but Akin himself.  The alternative was Claire McCaskill.

We see how that worked out.

The thing is, if  someone uses terms like "Akin type idiot," I'm  REALLY curious as to what they mean by that.  Was Cuccinelli an "Akin type idiot?"

The host of this blog seems to think so.

If the question is about IQs though, sure, let's stop nominating nitwits.  If the matter is about nominating people with religious convictions that don't match some people's idea of whether things like divorce and birth control are good things though, if that's  the litmus test, count me out.

I'll take the guy with religious convictions every  time over the types who win statewide  elections in places like, for example, New Jersey.

The sequester is still in place thanks to the shutdown, which was held together far longer than many here expected by cryin' John Boehner.  Think the shutdown would have ever happened without a Repub majority in the House, including the squishes?  The sequester would be gone now if not for the shutdown.  You can't win the game in DC if you can't even field a team.  So yeah, between the guy who'll be on our team only 60% of the time but actually get elected 95% of the time against the guy who'll be on our team 100% of the time but actually get elected 5% of the time, you take the win over the loss with the purist who f*cked himself by alienating as many voters as possible.  I'd gladly take 70 Cruz and Lee clones in the Senate, but that ain't happening.  But if we can get enough R's for a solid majority, and have the conservatives holding the whip hand in the caucus, that'll do.  39 Cruz and Lee clones against 61 Dems is a loser every time.  27 Cruz and Lee clones and 24 moderate R's is a hell of a lot better compared to the Dem supermajority with the ultraconservative but powerless minority.

Politics is the art of the possible, and you take the allies you can get--who by definition are not your enemy at least some of the time.

Mere Followers of the Lie cannot reason effectively, instead responding propagandistically, and their morals and principles are, at best, confused, at worst, non-existent. Stop being obtuse.  In case it wasn't obvious from the context, which it should have been, an "Akin-type idiot" is a candidate who says or holds a view so incredibly stupid as to be unelectable.  And I'm talking about primaries, obviously you still take Akin over McCaskill.  But if Akin had said that sh*t in January, and McCain was his opponent in the primary?  McCain is the better choice at that point, someone who would crush McCaskill like a bug and give you another seat, as opposed to the "true conservative" who has already lost the election.

You couldn't be more wrong about the shutdown.  The LIVs won't remember it by New Year's.  If you think the only way to fix the government is supermajorities of hard-right conservatives in every branch, you might as well light a match.  But Reagan slowed the growth to a virtual standstill despite Dem control of both houses.  You think that with enough RINOs to tip the scales to R majorities he could have done no better?

The amount of money that was spent for something that is such an abject failure is nothing short of breathtaking. The saddest part is that no one in congress will do anything but posture." The shocking thing about Obamacare are all the millions of people who have lost, and are yet to lose, their insurance. It's not that people don't care when their taxes are wasted it's just that when their discretionary income is also commandeered for Obama speechwriter's brainwave that it's going to really bite. People have plans for their after- tax income that does not, and should not, involve the government.

147 Over at RedState, Erick Erickson has some thoughts on trying to control things. I do have some thoughts in general, some of which may not be applicable: 1. Flexibility is the key to airpower. 2. In systems engineering, when designing a system, you have to take all stakeholders into account. Not hand a user a solution without his input and expect him to thank you for it. 2b. As we are finding out with ObamaCare and min coverage, don't try to decide for a man what he wants and what should make him happy, saying you are looking out for him, when what you are really doing is doing that which is convenient or beneficial for yourself. 2c. You may have the right answer for the guy. You have to involve him, not steer him by stealth (see ACA again). 3. Also in systems engineering, you first need to determine what it is you wish to be accomplished, in an abstract functional way, not design the solution or force the solution into a way already determined. The usual path, as it were. 4. Time and tide wait for no man, 4b."There is a tide". 5. Provide options, not obstacles. 6. Sun Tzu speaks of the normal and extraordinary force. Do not force one to be the other when they need to be themselves. 6b. Normal can quickly shift to extraordinary, and vice versa. In football, one is the main force, the other the force making the hole for the main force to run through. But they need not stay fixed. One is enabling the other. They do not do the same thing in the same way--that is two normal forces. 7. If you want to hire a man to run your company for you, then you need to let him run your company for you, within guidelines set out. Or if you want to join a bandwagon because you think it might go somewhere, don't take over the bandwagon. Advise, don't command, 8. Likewise, "mission-type" tactics say define the goal, supply the resources, but then let the commander figure out how to take the hill. Micromanaging without knowing the situation on the ground leads to failure, and Lee did not talk to Jackson again after Jackson left the meeting at Chancellorsville. 9. The Heisenburg Uncertainty principle says observing can affect. 10. Those that cannot skin can still hold a leg. 11. Either wallop a man or vindicate him. Controlling is de facto walloping. 12. When evil men combine, good men must associate, lest they fall one by one. It does not follow they will have identical goals.

People who were swayed by Choom Boy's "special" status, his promises and his creased pants will forgive him if the foundations of his promised Emerald City have a few cracks in them. That goes equally for voters, Congress and the media.

They may complain a bit at times -- mildly, timidly and hesitatingly, with no more force than Poppin' Fresh can muster -- but they will fall right back into line when the next promise comes along.

The "we'll get 'em next time" mantra has come to have all the importance of the "wonder weapons are coming!!11!!" exhortations of those dudes in the Berlin bunker.

194 TCM showed this week the two part 1976 documentary on Chile and Allende. The military kept offering him safe passage out. He kept doubling down on resisting. Last photo they showed of Allende showed this old guy clutching a grenade while a guy in front had an AK-47. When the deadline was reached, CAF Hunter jets attacked the Presidential palace. Those pilots were good on dropping on the building with flames erupting. So Allende was not only a Communist, but a stupid and dead one. Posted by: Anna Puma (+SmuD) at November 07, 2013 07:51 AM (arQna) Allende was trying to make a conditional surrender which was denied. The negotiations were very short: the coup started at 11 am and Allende surrendered at 1:50 pm, told everyone else to file out. He shot himself minutes later. Most of the people who surrendered were executed. Also, the safe passage was a ruse. Pinochet is heard on tape with one of his generals who is verifying the offer of safe passage was still open. Pinochet said yes, we will fly him out in a plane but the plane will drop out of the sky. Do you know what I mean? And the general said yes. Pinochet says kill the bitch and then you don't have to worry about the litter. You can hear the tape in a documentary called The Judge and the General which you can find on the internet. I believe Allende was a good man and I wish he hadn't shot himself. However, he naively chose a dangerous path to follow. 80% of the people supported the coup. However, they expected free elections a few months later after the dust had settled, too. Never happened.

I like it because it emphasizes God first, not us. I get a little impatient with too many religious songs that say "I", "I" "I" We are created to worship and praise God-the scriptures say we are to be priests onto God. Jesse, it was a 1976 movie that was pro Allende and the time the military gave Allende to surrender was longer than that in the movie.  Was Allende, who used the term 'socialism with a human face' as a slogan and supported by the Socialist and Communist parties of Chile, really a nice person?   One just has to look at the upheaval and disruptions his policies caused.  One argument that I have seen put forth on why Allende failed was he went not fast enough while others think he went too fast, thus terrifying people.  Sound familiar?  Those are the standard excuses when Socialism/Communism fails, its not the idea but the person who failed.

Yo squarehead, my point is that it hasn't mattered since FDR which party is in power. You would like to think your vote counts but it truly doesn't. The beast needs to be starved. This is possible with anarcho-capitalism and counter-economic behavior. Get off the W2. Incorporate and crush the Feds with their own tactics. Use the tools they have provided their bankrollers to avoid taxation legally. It is astonishing how it works. And a good accountant is as tax-deductible as a bad one. Pay your bills with pre-tax cheese instead of post-tax cheese.

You have only yourself to blame if you don't. Uncle Sam is not your friend, benefactor or protector.

Him:  I'm a liberal.  Obama is a bad president.  Though he's better than either Republican he faced and should be on Mt. Rushmore compared to W. Bush who is not only the worst president of all time, he's the worst western leader since Chamberlain (I know you'll need to Google that).  Our founders were geniuses because they didn't want little people like you to vote.  We all know you live in a house worth less than $350k and have less than $500,000 in your 401k.  Sad.  Elites like me do scorn you.  And laugh at you

Me:  For argument's sake, assume both of those things are true.  Assume I live in a normal house in a normal town and that I'm 34 and don't have half a million dollars stashed away.  Does that make you a better person?  Does that make you qualified to make decisions about my life?

Him:  Yes.

Me:  So then you're qualified to make decisions for pretty much everyone in the middle of the country where property values are lower than on the coasts?  The founders didn't want women or blacks to vote either.  How do you feel about that?

Him:  Yes.  I am.  And yes.  Just like the founders intended.

Me:  I've never seen a liberal so completely own their racism, sexism and elitism so publicly before.  I suppose I should congratulate you on your hatred for women, minorities and the poor.

There isn't a place I haven't seen twitter put ads thusfar. You're timeline (when I view it) my feed, promoted hash tags, promoted "recommended to follows." Searches. The only place twitters is failing in ads is probably the mobile arena. Granted, that's the biggest area since most people use twitter on their phone I am to understand. But if Twitter adjusts their API to dump ads into mobile they'll be an add selling machine. Of course ad revenue isn't what it used to be. So I have no idea if that's a money maker. Personally I like a company that actually produces something and sells it.

275 My old friend got his insurance premium increase and they have to pay it. His wife has some chronic illnesses and they cannot go naked. They have one son who is a good guy, early 30's and makes a good living. Since they have no grandchildren to spoil they give their son a few thousand for Christmas for a trip. Son's wife although very educated works for a non-profit and makes little. She is also the epitome of a Obama supporter.

They told son they can't give the trip money anymore because they have to pay increased insurance costs and for a drug that is not going to be on the new plan for his wife. His son understands and said that is fine. Daughter in law however did not think it was fine. She called to argue with them that their insurance would be better and cost less so fork over the trip money. Son called and apologized and said she can't wrap her head around what is going on and that there would be any repercussions to her.

My friend said not another nickel to them as long as he is married to her as a smart aside to his wife. Wife said that may not be long. What? How? When did this happen? It has been going on a while she said. He is tired of her not making any money and no kids, she knows everything and must control ever damn thing, and she is boring. Son has been squirreling the divorce fee to a friend (attorney) to spring it on her. This stunt with his parents is the last straw because she embarrassed him with her sense of entitlement.

This legislation has repercussions that the rabid progressives cannot imagine.

They will sell services that direct advertising tweets to selected customers, based on the content of their previous tweets and who they follow.

After that? I have no idea. I can't imagine that traditional ad revenue will be sufficient to support the stock at its current level.

301 Twitter is getting good at selling ads. Probably better than facebook. Posted by: tsrblke PhD(c) (No Really!) at November 07, 2013 08:47 AM (GaqMa) Oh, I get that there are promoted links and the like but I cannot see how the ad revenue from that can possibly justify the market valuation being placed on twitter. Here's where I come from with this: MySpace. I remember full well when MySpace was the hottest thing on the planet and they were going to be billionaires forever and then bam Facebook hit and now MySpace is gone. Or, well, it exists but now as Justin Timberlake's personal toy to try to turn it into a music promotion tool. That's not a slap at Timberlake, btw, I respect the fact that he put up his own cash money to buy in and that he's attempting to turn it back to where it started. But it is highly unlikely that MySpace will ever be a thing again. Social media can be gone in a heartbeat. Facebook is either at the tipping point or has tipped over the point where the user base is older and not as dedicated. Then, of course, there's AOL. Hell, Dish is winding down Blockbuster. Just because twitter is super hot doesn't mean it will be forever and by forever I mean the end of 2014.

What a quaint concept.

"Making things" is so, I don't know, 20th Century. Though I suppose you could say that the people who came up with the software for Teh Twitterz "made something."

Problem is, someone else "made something" to counteract part of the intrusive revenue-generating part. When you have a good ad-blocker app, companies won't be able to get their message to you. They will then stop buying ads.

In time, Twitter, like all fads on the Intarwbz, will fade away, and someone will come up with the Next New Hot Thing. One good thing about "internet companies" is: hardware costs are minimal.

353 276 My old friend got his insurance premium increase and they have to pay it. *************** This scene will play out in a lot of families.

That man is smart, and here's why:

If the wife is a control-freak, as was mentioned, that's the only way he's going to have any sort of ability to put up a defense.  And he WILL be on defense, especially if he files first!

Consider the type of person who would put her own desire for expense-free travel ahead of the ability for her in-laws to pay for their healthcare.  Further, consider the type of person who, when upset about the former, ACTUALLY CALL the in-laws to protest, in defiance of nearly every single behavior formerly considered to be societal norms.

She's a sociopath.  He needs to hide his preparations like his life is at risk, because it probably is.  And if she gets wind of it before he springs the trap, he'll find himself penniless and likely having to defend himself against a whole raft of false charges.

His preparation will make the difference in whether he spends the rest of his life traumatized or worse, or a free man who can start over.

Decency has nothing to do with it when this sort of rampant narcissism and sociopathic behavior is now becoming standard.

Cancer being a very specific term in medicine because of all the other things that are blah blah blah...science...blah. Obviously though that was my point, the WHO backed themselves into a corner with their fancy rating scale and can't get out of it now. They went ahead and classified BC as a "Level 1" figuring that it'd be mostly ignored (like their classification for Booze, which I think is level 2 or something.) Or the classification for heart meds or whatever. Benefits outweigh the cost. Kudos to this group for leveraging that into something both useful and somewhat humorous.

It some cases I agree, there should be a "talk" to try and reconcile the differences and save the marriage.  Other times, I fully support the element of surprise when dealing with certain types of people.

Storytime:

My wife told me about one of her friends who was recently married in the past year, planning to leave her husband.  I knew this friend too.  She was a gold digger and could have been a runner-up on "Housewives of X-ville".  The man she married was a self-made person who did very well for himself building his business from nothing.  A pre-nup was signed whereby nothing would be given to her if she left within a certain period of time.

Well, that deadline was coming up and I found out from my wife that she had planned to leave him the day after.  She would qualify to keep half of his assets under our state laws.  When I found this information out, I seriously contemplated contacting him and letting him know what was about to be dropped on him.  My wife urged me not to do anything of the sort since it wasn't our business.  I argued that this man did absolutely nothing wrong and did not deserve this.  He did not drink, do drugs, or abuse his wife in any way, shape, or form.  And yet he was about to lose half his life's work to a woman who schemed to do this from day one.

Though I wanted to contact him, I ended up keeping my peace.  I did find out from my wife that her friend eventually revealed to her husband right before the deadline that she did want to leave him and he agreed to the separation on his own terms and basically paid her off.  At least the friend finally found her balls to talk to her husband about leaving the marriage.

Yeah, I read all that (didn't watch the video) but I didn't get what apparently Alex Jones got out of it.

But yes, she did reportedly screw him over for millions during the marriage by buying truckloads of expensive clothing, jewelry, furs, etc., and then immediately re-selling them for cash.

412 400 I should really make a judgement because i don't know all the facts, but springing something on someone unless they're are circumstances like abuse is not a honest way of dealing with things and in laws need to address the women directly not talk to the son about her behind her back, And yes, verbal abuse is very, very bad. Of course, we don't know her side of the story. The vacation/insurance line sounds very cold. but that she's not pulling her weight as far as job is between them as is the subject of children/grandchildren. Running off to mom and dad (unless you have to escape abuse) or getting overly involved in your children's marriages is a recipe for disaster. 418 411 Why assume things not in evidence? ---- I imagine Fenelon's evidence is the word of the divorcing parties themselves, since he's a minister who probably counsels these people. Meanwhile, we have evidence that consists of gossip from the husband's parents' friend. Posted by: Jenny Hates Her Phone at November 07, 2013 09:44 AM (GmTxn) I'm talking about the evidence in the story posted here, not evidence from Felonspoke's associates.

Posted by: eman at November 07, 2013 05:50 AM (AO9UG)

419 I have known too many men and a few women where a divorce was 'sprung on somebody." It's a low blow. "Maybe the lobby of the place we both work isn't the ideal place to let you know this, but I don't love you anymore, haven't for a long time, and it's too late to do anything about it. Thanks for the $8,000 you dropped on me in Hawaii two weeks ago. I'm sure our 3 and 5 year olds will be just fine. Because shut up..." "But remember, I don't like conflict, so let's drag this out for a year-and-a-half while I sleepwalk through counseling, quit it twice, and routinely allow you the illusion that you're making any progress to saving this thing. See -- no conflict. But really, I checked out a long time ago. Give me my half." Ah, memories...

I didn't say it was easy or painless or that it's black and white. I believe triangulations in realtionships /communications tend to be a bad thing and honesty is usually better. Unless you want to get divorced and that's your reason for springing it on someone An yes, as a matter of fact I DO. I do pre marital counselling and counsel couples having marital problems. I have done it for 15 years. It's not one of my favorite things to do. Some have gotten divorced and some have not

424 Right, eman, the point I'm making is that we don't have evidence. We have gossip, from a probably biased source---who do you know that wouldn't favor their son over their daughter-in-law?

425 Posted by: eman at November 07, 2013 09:50 AM (AO9UG) Jus fort the record the guy who posted it doesn't have all the evidence either. So this is their goal. I don't dispute it because Choom pretty much said it verbatim years ago. But would they not need a super majority again to push that through? And...it would do nothing to lower the astronomical premiums people are facing. People still aren't going to be able to pay these exploded increases.

Single-payer will come when the government bails out the insurance companies and demands in return that they basically become administrative arms for a single health-care plan.

430 Suicide or assassinated by a Cuban agent? Posted by: eman at November 07, 2013 09:52 AM (AO9UG) Suicide. There were a couple of wits who entered the room just as he shot himself and a couple more who ran in as soon as they heard the shot. Also, his body was exhumed and an autopsy performed a couple of years ago confirming suicide

434 ** Most, if not all, of those "glitches" got to vote in 2008, 2010, 2012 and 2013. How'd they do? ** The thing is, those glitches had not suffered personal pain because of their Melanin God. Yet. NSA, IRS, Solyndra, Fast & Furious, Benghazi, whatever, whatever... it hadn't happened to THEM. Now it IS happening to them, or is just about to. And there's no ignoring it any more. Nor is there any way to draw a discreet media blanket over this humungous fuckup and smother public debate in the cradle like they have everything else. I wonder what the Dixie Chicks are thinking of the whole CMT business. *evil laugh*

My pals were being murdered by thugs supplied and bank rolled by foreign communists who used murder, rape and torture as SOP.  Did you read that in your sources?  Wonder why not.  Fuck you and your defense of evil.
