10 Good Morning Morons. Today is Thursday, December 19, 2013. On this day in 1843 Charles Dickens published "A Christmas Carol". I have never read the book, perhaps this is a good time to do so. Mostly I have watched the various adaptations for movies. Of all the movies the Alastair Sim version (1951) is said to be the best. I have never seen that version, the version I like the best now is the George C. Scott version (1984).

14 A CA district court ruled the Mt. Soledad cross had to go. The association who maintains the cross is appealing to the 9th circuit court of appeals. That is a waste of time unless they are just following the course to the Supremes. The easy solution seems to me that the State should simply deed the property over to the memorial association who maintains it and it would no longer be a "government property" and thus not subject to shit from the ACLU. The cross is a Korean War memorial.

18 Fox asks if Detroit can make a comeback. They cite a Quicken Loans $1B line of credit. I suspect that the State and Federal government is backing that loan despite the liar Obama saying there would be no bailout. This is on top of the $200M he has already given them. I also suspect that this $1B line of credit will do just like all the other money sent to this corrupt shit hole. It will go into someone's pockets and the city will continue to circle the toilet bowl waiting for the final trip into the sewer. It's just too bad they are using MY tax money for toilet paper.

44 Thanks for the story about the DC reporter. As another poster stated, it was a good read. There is life after DC. People in DC, 'the elites" have no connection to voters and normal people whatsoever. Clipping coupons, scrimping and saving to send your kids to a community college and then a good but affordable State College. Sacrificing for the family. It's beyond them. They have no experience in this, or even a remote idea about it. Don't even get me started on the economy, Obama Care, the fact the government wants to tell me how much water my toilet can use, or what kind of light bulbs I can buy and listen to all my phone calls and emails. They did grant me an FFL, and a CHL. I am sure they regret that already. As for Obama Care..I am ducking the tax. I will pay the low one in 2014, but 2015 I am spending more than 330 days out of country. I used to spend 2 months in the US and am not happy about spending even less time home. But I don't even recognize the country I grew up in anymore, so I guess I will get used to it.

Target confirmed Thursday morning that it was investigating a security breach involving stolen credit card and debit card information for 40 million of its retail customers. Target confirmed that criminals gained access to its customer information on Nov. 27 and maintained access through Dec. 15.

Target said it had confirmed that its online customers were not affected by the breach, which appears to have been isolated to the point-of-sale systems in TargetÂ’s retail stores.

168 In my cups once upon a time I opined that a larger portion of female kind than many would be comfortable with fall into various shades of that categorization. I've long thought that sexuality is a line of continuum with very few either 100% gay or 100% straight. If you see it that way you might expect that some people would fall somewhere in the middle. Which is why I'm thoroughly comfortable with the idea that professionals could counsel those in that area. Point out the difficulties they could expect, site some numbers about suicide, health issues, etc. But militant gays find the idea reprehensible. Recently California even banned the practice. Militant gays do no favor to their 'cause'.

I know a number of gays, and to hear their histories and how they have invariably had encounters with both sexes, I no longer believe this. I'm sure there is a percentage that this is true, but I know it is less than 100%. If forced to hazard a guess, I would say maybe 1/3 to 1/2.

Among many other issues her children were being assaulted on the school bus by the local bully and the school did nothing. She has a degree in education. She had to fill out a 21 page questionnaire before being 'approved'. She has to keep meticulous records, which will be reviewed. The local school district can drop in on her at any time to review her records. She has to pay, out of pocket, for any and all books and materials she purchases. The school district takes her tax dollars, but provides zero in return. I really don't know how they can make it any more difficult.

Of course, here I am engaging in it ;^) but not nastily I hope, My opinion is that there are much more important things to discuss as far as living the Christian life than whether two adults who love each other are having sex We have many Christians who are functional Atheists. That to me a hugely more important issue that gay sex. I know a number of gay ministers who are fine Christians and have faithfully served the Lord. for years. The sponsor for my son's baptism is a gay clergyman. I did not ask him about his ex practices before I asked him to be a sponsor nor would it occur to me to do so. I don't want to know. For me, his sexual orientation was incidental to who he was as person and he may very have been celibate. I know gay ministers who are married according to state law and have been married in a service officiated by other clergy. They have been together for years-more than many married people I know. That being said. I was in favor of gay marriage once until the Gay Mafia started issued death threats and loss of jobs for dissent from their opinion, Now I think the state should get out of the marriage business entirely. Issue civil union forms and let the churches decide if they want to allow people to marry. I also think it is better for children to be raised in a loving heterosexual household and i think that really was God's intention, but I know of older minority kids who would not have been adopted had their white gay parents not taken them in. On the other hand it seems like some churches are getting into the whole gay rights issue and neglecting personal spiritual growth. So I'm sort of conflicted about this I also think Mr. Robertson has every right to say what he thinks since the show is about his family.

If you do pre-marital counselling (which you should) it is a lot of work. Since and since most people are more concerned with how the bridal party looks and what happened at the reception. you might as well have a cut out with a taped message and service than an actual clergy person. I am happy that there are still people willing to get married instead of just shacking up and I am very glad when their marriages last, but I have to say that most people had not muchreal interest in what Christian marriage means (although they put on a good routine) and indeed most people I have married have not been church members. They wanted a nice little church space and didn't even think about getting a clergyperson until the month before the wedding!!. The best experience I had with a marriage was with an older couple who wanted to have Holy Communion as part of their service which is optional in my tradition, and with a very devout Christian Science couple in their twenties who needed a actual clergyperson to perform their wedding because the Christian Scientists don't have ordained clergy

They will have the time and date of purchase and be able to match it to the cash register and camera. All the security is digitalized and easy to scan and store. They have until the statute of limitations runs out which means different things in different states but it could be years.

303 They will eventually get to the point where they will outlaw home schooling. Interestingly enough liberal NJ has very open regulations about homeschooling. You just tell them you want to homeschool and that's it. They don't require lengthy paperwork or require approved lesson plans. This is in contrast to some mid or western states.
