— Gabriel Malor Happy Monday.
This is one of those observations that will be completely true until it is completely not. That's what "revolutionary" means. I still want an S4.
Journalism is a deeply sexist profession, as are editors and publishers. At least, I think that's what this is telling me. Hey, I didn't make the rules; those misogynist journos did.
The French are preparing to pull out of Mali and that has folks wringing their hands about the place becoming a terrorist haven. Um, no shit. Unless you want to occupy it, you're going to have to live with the fact that third-world shit holes attract terrorists like shit attracts flies. Power vacuums will be filled, either by the good guys or by the not good guys and deciding to leave a power vacuum (or create one, *cough* Libya *cough*) is a conscious decision of the good guys not to exercise the extent of their power to prevent places from becoming terrorist havens.

The Mali problem could be solved if the developed world adopted the Jwest Doctrine.
Run a short advertisement for a billionaire who wishes to be King of his own shithole. Give him the status and treat him like the King of Zumunda in "Coming to America".
For centuries, the rich and powerful have accepted their duty to rule and used their resources to stroke their egos by raising shitholes to semi-shitholes. Time to bring back the tradition.

The Romans did have a certain efficiency that is lacking today, however, the basic motivation for a billionaire to rule is lost using that plan.

Good morning, fellow members of this award-winning Smart Military Blog. I hope you all had a great weekend.
No matter how big a star you might be, itÂ’s a rule of thumb that you will, at some point, make a bad movie. Usually these days, the stars themselves choose the property (think of Warren Beatty in Town and Country or, classically, John TravoltaÂ’s dream project Battlefield Earth, to mention two), but in the studiosÂ’ heyday, a star could be thrown into any film regardless of whether they were suited to the material or not.
And so it was with Clark Gable and 1937’s Parnell, the biography of the famous Irish politician. The King didn’t want to do this movie, and it shows. Never really convincing as a historical figure, Gable gives a poor performance, looking petulant instead of passionate, his costumes awkward and constricting. He sounds about as Irish as Marlene Dietrich and even his love scenes with co-star Myrna Loy lack the Gable fire. Parnell was a critical and financial flop, and its poor reception was one of the reasons Gable fought so hard against being cast as Rhett Butler, which he saw as yet another disastrous “costume” part.
Gable’s wife, Carole Lombard, enjoyed teasing him about Parnell. Once, when Gable was bragging about being named the world’s greatest actor, she had flyers printed up reading ‘If you think Clark Gable is the world’s greatest actor, see him in Parnell. You’ll never forget it.’ She wanted to hire a plane and drop the flyers over the MGM lot, but finally settled for having two out-of-work actors hand them out in front of a local theater.
And thatÂ’s it for me this morning. Hope you all have a wonderful day.

"You cannot engage in "nation-building" if you do not have a population that has at least a minimum of a western bent. That's why Afghanistan will be a shit hole until its people make the great leap out of the Koranic dark age (which they never will)."
It is very true that "nation-building" is a totally worthless exercise in countries with populations that are not ready for self rule.
Even the most backward people understand the concept of an absolute ruler. No votes, no rights, just existence and subservience. Maybe in a hundred years, with the right leadership, they will be ready for the transition, but not now.

This nominee is bad news with a capital B (which rhymes with C which stands for Communist). He's been huge in Maryland for agitating to get in-state tuition, drivers licenses, etc for illegal aliens. He is probably the most radical nominee from this administration yet, and wow that's saying something.
If he gets the nod, expect four years of anti-business, anti-right-to-work, pro-illegal and aggressively pro-union policies from the DoL.

Yes and no. The reason we had such a long primary this time is because in 2008 everyone complained that the primary was too short. They said then that the primary was unfairly weighted so that whoever got early traction (McCain) would get the nom without any of the later states even getting a chance to affect the outcome. So they changed the primary process to make it more deliberate, to last longer.
Now everyone's pissed that the primary lasted so long.
Go figure.

The real problem isn't so much with the existence of the IPAB it's that it CANNOT be overruled and CANNOT be dissolved by Congress.
How they think that passes muster, I'll never understand.
I understand that Congress can delegate it's responsibilities to agencies created to perform those tasks. But how can they not be then under the Congress' control and scrutiny?

Haven't read this in detail, but Gabe (on Twitter)
seems to be preaching amnesty as one of the solutions to the R branding

Anyone who thinks that I "preach amnesty" simply hasn't been paying attention to anything I've written on the subject of immigration ever.
That we have problems reaching voters because of the tendency of certain members of our coalition to screech "amnesty" any time the topic of immigration comes up is self-evident. That we have a problem reaching voters period is self-evident. Finding out how to overcome that problem is the purpose of the RNC autopsy report.

No shit. This is what amazes me about the RINOs and such who think letting these people in is such a good idea. Having grown up and lived around these people all my life, I can tell you that, as a group, they are in no way conservatives, certainly not in the way we think of conservatism. In fact, they are just the opposite; FSA-type lefties with their hands out. Why do you think most of them who are nominally eligible to vote in this country voted for Obami? (Especially given that they otherwise don't like him because he's half black; oh yes, Latinos don't care for Blacks, any more than Blacks care for Latinos.)
The RINOs who support letting the illegals in are either complete idiots or are in league with the Commiecrats. Can't quite figure out which...
