The Senate passed the CR, but it stripped out the provisions to give agencies more discretion about how to find the money for the sequester cuts.

Director Billy Wilder had the unique distinction of guiding two legendary directors himself in ParamountÂ’s magnificent Sunset Boulevard: Cecil B. DeMille and Erich von Stroheim. DeMille, playing himself, was by all accounts a true professional, hitting his marks and going through multiple takes without complaint. Of course, DeMille was canny as well; signed for a flat fee of $10,000, when Wilder asked him back for a couple of small close-ups, he happily agreed. . .for another $6,000.
The imperious von Stroheim, too, was nothing but professional, though in private he disdained his role of manservant Max von Mayerling, calling it “that goddamned butler part.” Wilder gave him free rein to create his character – it was Von’s* idea that Max should write all of Norma Desmond’s fan letters – but clamped down on some of his more eccentric interpretations.**
But it was an offhand remark of von Stroheim’s during the filming that has come to encapsulate his character and, in fact, his entire career: trying to get off on a good foot with his fellow director, Wilder introduced himself by saying, “Imagine little me, directing you! You were always ten years ahead of your time.”
“No,” Von coolly responded. “Twenty.”

**Von thought giving Max a limp would add to his character. Wilder said no. Von also dreamed up a scene that would show Max washing NormaÂ’s lingerie, holding it tenderly to his cheek. Wilder really said no.

That story is kind of ominous. Arson out in the boondocks is nothing new, but the number of fires involved tells me that somebody or a group of somebodies is "practicing".
Once they are accomplished arsonists they will no doubt find plenty of work providing "fire for hire" as the economy continues to worsen and people start taking long, hard looks at their bank statements and their insurance policies.

Morning all!
The sequester rhetoric on the issue of shutting down airport control towers ought to backfire on both parties.
Shutting down the tower at a tower-controlled airfield does not make the airplane fall out of the sky. Approach control, which is NOT tower control, sequences practically all commercial aircraft. Pilots fly clear procedures until seeing the airfield and landing. If the weather is too rotten at the airfield to land, the pilot will go land at another airfield (which is planned into every commercial flight). I'm being a pilot geek, I know, but such am I.
This will backfire on Democrats who want the sequester to be painful to average Americans. This aspect won't be. And it will be backfire on the Republicans who claim that shutting down these towers makes flying less safe, because it doesn't do that in any real sense. Of the two backfires, the Republican one is worse, because it is argument for big government.

Honestly, I'm not sure what all the fuss is about. We've all seen players engage in spearing, but it's usually defenders. Some of the runners though, are using their heads as battering rams (not to be confused with bumbling Rams).
If you're going to penalize defenders for doing it, I don't see why you wouldn't also penalize RBs.

I don't know what the language of the rule is, but we will see what happens on the field. I just don't expect it to have the effect all the doomsdayers say it will.
As for pass interference, I agree with you. I hate the ticky tack fouls. If it's not blatant, it shouldn't be a penalty. And get rid of the 5 yard rule. If the ball is not in the air, you should be free to pop the receiver as much and as far down the field as you want.
Scoring is too easy in the league. Anything that shifts the balance back to defense, I'm all for.

The only good thing about the Type 4 was the aluminum engine. Everything else, burn it! Which could happen if you installed the incorrect battery in it - too tall a battery would allow it to short the underside of the driver's seat if the driver was extra beefy. Thus sparking a fire in the padding and thence the whole car.

Still can't support it now. The expansion of visas means unemployment will remain high as an illegal pool of labor made work-legal competes with those who are already legal. Plus, non-enforcement of immigration law will simply invite yet more illegal immigration and a push for even more work visas will immediately follow. That increasing labor force will gain strength, voice, money, and American-soil births (who will be legal BTW) and they will exert even more political pressure.
This has to be sold on principles of being lawful, of being security-conscious, and of respecting sovereignty.

Speaking of cars, took B'Gal's Honda out yesterday to run some errands. The engine sputtered a bit, then I started smelling gasoline like you got no idea, with the windows down. "Well, this isn't good" I thought and turned around after about 1/4 mile.
Good thing: a gas line sprang a leak and was spraying gas all over the engine compartment, but on the intake side of the engine, not the exhaust. At least it's a simple fix, but I'll have to ride my bicycle to the auto parts store later.

I'm protectionist to the extent that it's necessary and in the best interest to the stability of the country to a) control who enters and leaves, b) evaluate and screen what they bring to the table, and c) assess what is their economic impact to the taxpayers and the American culture which must absorb them and make them assimilate to America. The country has a valuable heritage that deserves protection. It isn't a bus depot.
Now, assuming we did enforce current immigration law and we became an economically stable power again - and conditions merited an influx of regulated temporary labor - I'd be open to a work visa expansion program. Frankly, I don't see that happening in my lifetime given current trajectories.

What is the name of the chief of police? Governor ? ,Director of Department of Children and Families? Mayor? State representatives? Head of the RNC and DNC in New Jersey? Pick up the phone and start calling. Claim you saw them slap their kid, grand kid, etc. That's what I would do. Use a public phone if you can find one just to be safe.
Guarantee the law gets overturned in a week.
