Happy Monday.

The latest news out of Boston is that they are questioning Tsaraev, although he's only responding via writing due to the possibly self-inflicted injury to his throat.

Officials say that the brothers were on their way to NYC with more explosives when they were first confronted by police in the early morning hours on Friday.

I couldn't read it, but AP has a piece on the Boston nurses who described what it was like in the hospitals after the bombing.

And the police are saying that the bombers did not procure or possess their firearms legally.

In other news, Ramesh Ponnuru slaps around the Washington Post's "Five Myths" column for making up abortion facts in order to settle so-called "abortion myths." That'll leave a mark.

The ricin letter suspect will appear in court today.

The DSCC outraised the NRSC by $2 million in March. It was part of the DSCC's "best first quarter ever."

Rep. Paul Ryan was on EWTN on Thursday, making generally positive comments about the Gang of Eight's immigration reform plan. He'll be doing a joint appearance in Chicago today with Democratic Rep. Luis Gutierrez.

Also, I'll be on Bruce Carroll's Match Game again tonight at 9pm Eastern, along with Kurt Schlichter, Tony Katz, Mary Chastain, Amy Otto, and Tabitha Hale.

3 So I had an interesting dinner with my wife (lib) and several other libs from South Africa. My jaw dropped when one of them said that Obama "never worked a day in his life" and that all he was was a "good speaker." He then went on to compliment George Bush for all the money he gave to Africa to fight AIDS and that Obama cut it off completely. It. Was. Refreshing!!!!

4 Good Morning Morons.  Today is Monday, April 22, 2013.  On this day in 1889 the Oklahoma land rush began.  By the end of the day Oklahoma City and Guthrie both had populations of over 10,000 people.  Of course there was a lot of fraud that went down with it.  A number of people had already gone out into the territory and stood by waiting to stake their claims before the gun sounded.  These became known as the “sooners”.

19 - "Officials say that the brothers were on their way to NYC with more explosives when they were first confronted by police in the early morning hours on Friday." Why, it's almost as if those two were Jihadi terrorists hell bent on mass destruction. Go figure. - "In other news, Ramesh Ponnuru slaps around the Washington Post's "Five Myths" column for making up abortion facts in order to settle so-called "abortion myths." That'll leave a mark." Um, no. It won't leave a mark. Nowhere of consequence. WaPo's entire readership is less than the adult populations of a few major counties in Ohio and nobody on Main Street ever has heard of Ramesh Ponnuru. You have to break outside of the cocoon to see reality. Speaking of which: - "The DSCC outraised the NRSC by $2 million in March. It was part of the DSCC's 'best first quarter ever.'" Of course. Democrats figured out many decades ago that the only thing that matters in politics is winning elections and thereby having power. Everything else merely is cheap talk and mental masturbation.

61 No sign of foul play in TX fertilizer plant explosion. I am utterly shocked that so many residences and even a nursing home where so close to that plant. I wonder which was there first? I remember having to shut my plant down for the afternoon when a bakery -- yeah, a freaking bakery about a quarter mile up the street thought they might have a gas leak. It takes a lot of energy, and potential energy (fertilizer in this case) to run any sort of manufacturing production. Good zoning laws keep that kind of risk away from residences.

124 "f we are to take Hispanics at their word, conservative attitudes toward illegal immigration are a minor reason for their voting preferences. While many are in business for themselves, they express hostile attitudes toward free enterprise in polls. They are disproportionately low-income and disproportionately likely to receive some form of government support. More than half of Hispanic births are out of wedlock. Take away the Spanish surname and Latino voters look a great deal like many other Democratic constituencies. Low-income households headed by single mothers and dependent upon some form of welfare are not looking for an excuse to join forces with Paul Ryan and Pat Toomey. Given the growing size of the Hispanic vote, it would help Republicans significantly to lose it by smaller margins than they have recently. But the idea that an amnesty is going to put Latinos squarely in the GOP tent is a fantasy." National Review (Looking for the link discussing research that shows this.)

152 @132 Two years after passing the largest general amnesty, the gop presidential candidate received 20% Of the Hispanic vote. It also marked the last time a gop presidential candidate will ever win California. California at that time was the home to the largest percentage of illegal immigrants. Today Texas, Arizona, Nevada and new Mexico are, pass amnesty, say goodbye to the south west. Its all part of the plan it seems.

"The GOP is worthless and they are in the hole with shovels helping the communists dig the hole."

At least we're making progress.

We've been able to destroy those who were conservative enough, but had voices that were aggrevating, and now we're on track to destroy the Toomeys, Rubios and Ryans who have slight variations to our thinking.

Soon, we'll have purged all the communists, RINOs and people who don't present our pure form of conservatism properly.  Only then will the party move on to greatness.

See, we can handle things.  Not like people say.

Only by taking apart everything these people do and casting them in the worst light will the public finally see our side of things and rally around in great numbers.

I  certainly don't think Biden won on substance.  Within days however, nobody remembers what got said anyway, just how it was said.

Biden was the grumpy, snarling, snide uncle, schooling his nephew.  Not with facts, not with reason, but with attitude, and  Ryan stood there and took it.

Ryan needed to show something, and he didn't.  Biden was a known commodity, and the fear on the left  was that Ryan would make a fool out of him.  That did not happen.  So Biden won.  Period.

Iwonder if their kids and grandkids are conservative, or are they subsumed into the great Hispanic "We want free stuff" attitude?"

Those who I've met over the years are certainly "Anti Castro", but that tends to be in a more personal sense of the term, rather than a statement of preference vis a vis government. Once Castro is out of the equation (2nd generation), I'd have to say no - they're not anywhere near "conservative".

210 In FL there's many different Spanish speaking groups, and each needs to be addressed differently if you want their vote.

Its not just Cuban/Mexican.

Anyone who tries to treat them all monolithic will be viewed a poser who's faking it -- because they would be faking it.

The Guatemalan community has vastly different concerns and interests than the Cubans or Mexicans, and the Cubans kinda look down on the Mexicans, who kinda look down on the central Americans.

Its a complicated pecking order and not knowing it exists and who fits where will lead to grave missteps, people feeling insulted or ignored and such.

Too often, these type of things tend to be thinly connected bits of speculation or strings of facts held together by conjecture.  To those who want to believe them, there is enough there to make it appear true.  To those who do not want to believe, there isn't enough to prove them.  It doesn't mean that they are or are not true, it just means that the veracity lies in the eye of the beholder.

Flood the country with foreign nationals. Do not defend the borders Take over the schools. Blood-liberl American history and ideals. And voila! 50 years later America is on the verge of losing its identity and heritage, usurped by millions of people who have no desire to become American and the rest of the populace who have no idea what it is to be an American. He may be now, but if I recall correctly when I did all my research during the primaries he was initially on the side of AGW. So was Romney.

I didn't hold that against them too bad though at that time because when the AGW shit first came out nearly everyone was on the bandwagon.  After it became more and more apparent that the whole thing was a fraud they should get off of it.

229 I don't believe the ricin hype, and I question how the FBI got the names of the two perps during the search. Who tipped them off? If LE  figured out the names, wouldn't they crow about that? Also, heard on radio "a witness" says the police ran over the brother. Forgive me if I have trouble believing the FBI and LE in the Boston case.

231 I cannot count how many times I have pulled someone over with the intent of giving them a verbal warning...and then they immediately start trying to debate me or be a smart ass, "Don't you have anything better to do?" ...and then they talk themselves into a ticket. Be calm, polite and honest and your chances of getting a warning during a traffic stop go up substantially.

232 Someone once told me (the son of a municipal court judge) that he was instructed by his dad that if he was ever pulled over for a dui to reach into the glove compartment for the flask of whiskey stored therein, step away from the car and start guzzling it before they get up to you. Supposedly it really screws up their case that you were drinking beforehand. Sounds crazy to me, and I'd not do it for the mere fact that a flask of whiskey in the glove compartment would last about as long as it took me to run out of whiskey in the house. Of course the best course of action is not to drink and drive at all.

I was once stopped for doing 80 in a 55 and walked away with a $25 ticket for wasting a natural resource because I was polite and had a nice conversation with the officer.

Posted by: Zombie John Gotti at April 22, 2013 08:42 AM (Gkhxf) I have had similar experiences. I once heard a VA State Trooper say that he used to give a lot of warnings, but people had become so obnoxious and rude that he basically wrote everybody up.

Yes, the article I linked said she apologized and said she also had had too much to drink,  But my first thought was she was trying to make sure that everyone knew she wasn't Lindsay Lohan.

I think Hollywood people are like politicians in more ways than one. (1) They are both actors and (2) They think that they are above the law and the rest of us and get offended when they are called on it.

238 Earlier this year I got pulled over for speeding twice in one week. An Arvada CO cop gave me a ticket for doing 51 in a 45 in my truck; a CO state trooper gave me a warning for doing 70 in a 45 on my motorcycle.

Once I was pulled over when a 35 zone went into a 25.  When the officer told me how fast I was going I responded "I'm sure that's correct".  After he checked my license and registration in his car he came back and said "Today's your lucky day.  You're the only person who didn't argue with me or give me a smartass response; so you're getting off with a warning".  I said "Thanks for confirming that honesty's the best policy".

240 Also, not having to drink and drive comes in real handy because you can make someone else drive. Was sitting here yesterday having a glass of wine. My daughter wanted me to go roughly two blocks and get some Subway. I said sorry - and showed her the empty glass of wine. So she had to go get the sandwiches.

Oh, blow it out your ass, jwest.  I'd love to have what you're smoking if you considering amnesty to be in any way a 'conservative' position.

If someone breaks into your house to rape your daughter, do you try to compromise with him? "OK, you can do anal, but only the tip."  Do you try to see things from his point of view?  "You know, you're right, she is a hot piece of ass; I can see why you'd want to nail her to the mattress."

No - you fight back until you can put the fucker in the ground.  And that is all the GOP should be doing 24/7 - jamming every lie up the JEFs ass and denouncing the Democrats for the treasonous scum they are.  Saint Gabby writes an editorial calling you a coward?  March down on the Senate floor and punch her fucking teeth down her lying throat.  Hairy Reid says you care more about big business than the American worker?  Introduce a resolution to investigate his child prOn connections.

Kick the bastards in the balls every hour of every day or get the fuck out of the GOP!  How damned hard is that to understand?

244 I was stopped after turning onto a 55mph highway and not noticing when to stop speeding up. Within a half mile I was doing about 70, when a cop passed me the going the other way. I see break lights and look at the speedometer and see I'm doing 70 and slowed down. By the time he got caught up and pulled me over the first thing he asks is how fast I was going. I said "the speed limit. He cops an attitude, but I knew he didn't have time to clock me and was just trying to get an admission. He says "come on! man up and just admit it! To which I said what do you want to hear? He had to write me a warning for "speeding" and we all went on our merry way.

Robert Spencer does a vic-like news round up of our window-licking experts who are still trying to untie the Gordian Knot of jihad without reference to Islam, and whether the jihadis acted alone.

Obama's "jihad is a struggle to become a better Muslim"  (redacted: by killing non-Muslims who refuse to accept Islam until Islam is the dominant religion and sharia is the global legal system) campaign to expunge any federal training materials of jihadi theology directly led to the Boston terror attacks.  Obama CAIRs.

It's Obama's  "Bin Laden determined to strike US" moment.  But in this case the actual perpetrator was served up by FSB instead of a vague wish list.  If Bush had acted on the memo, of course, the cries of Islamophobia would still be echoing off the walls of congress.
