Happy Wednesday.

Tamerlan Tsarnaev was on welfare for a while.

Sen. Paul clears up what the careful listeners already knew: he did not change his position on domestic drone use; he's still for it.

Sen. Baucus says he's not running again because "I just donÂ’t want to die with my boots on."

Washington state is the first state to explore putting its employees onto federal health exchanges, thereby shifting costs from Washington taxpayers to federal taxpayers. It won't be the last.

Last month during CPAC, I was sitting with a GOP operative for the Ronald Reagan dinner where Jeb Bush spoke. After the speech the operative remarked, "Alas, if his last name were 'Smith,' he'd be a lock." Jeb's pretty much finding out the same thing.

Gov. Christie is leading his Democratic challenger Barbara Buono by 32 points, down slightly from last month. His approval rating is 67 percent.

1 I blame Spencer Ackerman for the Boston Bombings. We wonder why the FBI did not follow up on the Russian info. Ackerman has an article in Wired in September, 2011, that explains why. http://www.wired.com/dangerroom/2011/09/fbi-islam-domination/all/ He crows that he has driven the FBI to leave Muslims alone. It is somewhat more roundabout, but he takes credit for forcing the FBI to remove anti-Muslim material from all of their training through pressure from his column, and he claims that the anti-Muslim material made the the FBI give greater scrutiny to Muslim organizations and businesses. I am sure that if the FBI got its hand slapped for scrutinizing Muslims, it probably decided to back off. It's Spencer Ackerman's fault. People should be asking him if he is still proud of making the FBI afraid to investigate Islamic radicals. They should tweet him that he is blame, and when will he apologize to the children of Boston. Oh yeah, Spencer Ackerman? Put a right winger through a plate glass window. That Spencer Ackerman.

11 Anyone who votes for Rubio after his latest "performance" isn't paying  attention.

And yes, I said "performance" for a reason.

This has all been a practice session for him running in 2016.

The GOP is going to Hispander and then wonder why they keep losing more and more each year.

"but, but we got them amnesty????"

Rubio has shown himself to be an unprincipled, lying politician like any other.

Notice he's looking a little "sweaty" lately? It's because he knows he's blowing it. He had a lot to lose and he lost it. No matter whether this Amnesty bill gets passed or not.

14 So I was watching the local Baltimore news last night. And the City Police Commissioner was explaining about two Officers basically walking into a shootout on a public street, and used their firearms to end the situation. Then he went on to explain that this was the third time this week that Police were able to engage the armed perps, and end the shootout. He was pretty proud of that fact.
Then I realized that he had once again proved Wayne Lapierre to be correct.
Paraphrased, he had said...The only thing that stops a bad person with a gun, is a good person with a gun.

Funny that.

After he departed you don't hear diddly about the dreaded citrus canker anymore.  IMO, the whole thing was a scheme cooked up to knock a lot of the backyard citrus out and force people into supermarkets.

After the speech the operative remarked, 'Alas, if his last name were 'Smith,' he'd be a lock.' Jeb's pretty much finding out the same thing." Definitely. Jeb is a popular and immensely successful former two-term governor of what's by far the nation's most populous swing state. If his surname were Smith even the cement heads who make up the GOP's erstwhile "base" could figure out that he'd be the no brainer nominee. But the reality is that Bush Derangement Syndrome runs deep. Obviously on the left. Also on the right and most notably on the putative right and the poseur right. In the center too. Lowest common denominator syndrome. Path of least resistance. Simply put, it became far too easy for the general public and for the chattering classes to be stupid brats. Now we all pay the price. And the prospects truly are bleak.

29 "Washington state is the first state to explore putting its employees onto federal health exchanges, thereby shifting costs from Washington taxpayers to federal taxpayers. It won't be the last." This will get ugly. Like when municipalities in MA, as well as state dept heads, over the past few years have tried to shift public employees onto the Masshealth public option from their budget-busting Tufts/BCBS/Harvard cadillac plans.

Morning, Horde.  Today I have a story about John Barrymore:

In the 1930s, Barrymore appeared on a number of radio shows.  As he was known to indulge in an adult beverage or two, the director of one decided that it would be good insurance to have all of the actorÂ’s dialogue written down on cue cards.  But after a while, the director noted that, even when cold sober, Barrymore still relied on the cards.  He wondered quietly if the matinee idol was losing his memory.

Eventually, Barrymore approached him.  “You think IÂ’ve lost my touch, donÂ’t you?”  He then took a deep breath and reeled off HamletÂ’s soliloquy.

“But if you can do that, why the cue cards?” the director protested.

“My dear boy,” the Great Profile smiled, waving a dismissive hand towards the cards, “why on earth should I fill my mind with that shit just to forget it tomorrow?”

I donÂ’t think a picture of Barrymore would get the blood going in the morning.  So hereÂ’s a picture of Sophia Loren in a corset and stockings:

Hope you all have a wonderful day.

31 Good morning.

After this singularly exhausting year of primaries and a completely disappointing campaing,  after being misled by the RNC and the Romney campaign,  and after seeing the worst president in the history of the nation re-elected and our supposed representatives in the House and Senate refusing to fight for us,  I find that I have no particular interest in who gets the 2016 nomination.

Latest New York trend - kids going diaperless:

“elimination communication,” as the diaper-free method of child-rearing is called, is finding an audience in the hipper precincts of New York City.

When Jada Shapiro decided to raise her daughter from birth without diapers. Ms. Shapiro scattered little bowls around the house to catch her daughterÂ’s offerings, and her sister insisted that she use a big, dark marker to mark the bowls so that they could never find their way back to the kitchen.

Ms. Shapiro, who is a doula, a birth and child-rearing coach, says it is practically now a job qualification to at least be able to offer diaper-free training as an option to clients. Caribou Baby, an “eco-friendly maternity, baby and lifestyle store” on the border of artsy Greenpoint and Williamsburg, has been drawing capacity crowds to its diaper-free “Meetups,” where parents exchange tips like how to get a baby to urinate on the street between parked cars.

He actually beclowned himself because King suggested anyone buying a gun should be subject to a background check. The emotional attachment to "background checks at gun shows[/]!" is silly and absurd. Especially since gun shows have nothing to do with any high profile or mass killing. This is bizarre to watch

79 Fucking Jeb cut down all the Key Lime trees in my back yard when we had the infamous citrus canker scare and never coughed up the compensation homeowners were promised. Any politician that caves to hysteria is a bad leader. Buncha years ago a few residents in the area had a problem with some infestation in their trees -- gypsy moth, iirc. It was kinda ugly. So they were pressuring the township to use a helicopter to spray all the trees in the area, at township expense. I ran into a lefty reporter for the local lefty newspaper and tore her a new one. Told her I wanted to see the MSDS of whatever was being sprayed, I wanted the police to drive around with bullhorns before and after the spraying to notify residents it was all clear, etc. Then said 'or you can just wait for the birds to do their thing'. Then causally mentioned that her own father lived in the area affected, hint, hint. They decided to let the birds do their thing.

HOWEVER, it seems to me that JEB Bush is not a fighter.  I note that he sat back while Palin and later Romney were attacked.  This would be because he was thinking of his OWN political future, since either one of them winning would have kept him from getting to run.

But in failing to stand up for either,  he also abandoned us to 4 more years of Obama.  How many people's lives are ruined because of that?  How many families will lose homes,  how many careers destroyed,  how many families split up?  So that Jeb Bush can run?

So going forward, I will visit AoSHQ to see the antics and stylings of the Horde, but, now in the big electoral states, the cheaters have the process firmly in hand from cradle to grave, so I will just observe the circus without feeling the need to feed the elephants or cleanup their effluvia.

122 I have no doubt the history books 100 years from now will compare the Obama administration to the final years of Rome and find striking parallels. After I shut my factory I had to calculate the 'burn rate' -- which equals how many months/years I could survive on savings with the same rate of spending before running out of money. So I figured it out, sharted myself, then slashed spending and recalculated. Amazing difference. I wonder just how many more months we have before all government spending is from borrowed money? Probably before the end of Obama's term. Somebody with a fucking backbone is gonna have to clean up the mess, and I don't see Jeb Bush as that guy. In fact I don't know who-in-the-hell would even want the job that's gonna be necessary.

Posted by: Regular Moron [/i] at April 24, 2013 03:56 AM (feFL6)

123 #105   W made an announcement when he left office that he would not be involved in politics.  He, like his father,  stayed firmly out of the campaigning (which was the NORM until the rise of perpetual big mouth William Jefferson Clinton).

I am not talking so much about the campaign.  After Obama was elected Jeb,  as someone who was possibly a future candidate should have reigned in those snakes who went after Palin.  He could have said SOMETHING positive about her.  He did not.  (His mother's disdain for Palin was made public, you know.)

Even now,  when we are stuck with Obama,  does he say anything to defend us?  No. Instead he appears with Arne Duncan at some stupid education forum. Bipartisan, you know.

As far as Romney,  I note Jeb was notably lukewarm after he got the nomination, when 4 years before he had supported him.  The difference was 2016.   So I am not impressed.

150 You know,  the RNC have really done a terrible thing for the party,  and I will tell you why.

I am not as conservative as a lot of people.  For example,  I supported the Medicare Part D, the original education reform bill (before Ted Kennedy messed it up), both the war in Iraq and Afghanistan (still think they were the correct decisions at that time).

So, I am probably what one would call a traditional Republican.  I am willing to look at some things as positive which a lot of you folks despise.

But they have lost me.  When you will not defend your own people,  when you refuse to enforce party discipline,  when you reward the most dishonest people as stalwarts of the party,  when you consistently and repeatedly go against the wishes of your constituents, then I am done.  Finis.  The end.

If they are being threatened and blackmailed (Rubio, Toomey, McCain, etc.) then it is their DUTY to come forward and say so and resign.  Otherwise,  I have to assume I have been lied to.

I am done with them all.

Even more revolting is the new weird Liberal child rearing thing called "attachment parenting" where Mom spends the first few months of the baby's life naked with the naked baby--inseparable from the baby.  The baby urinates and defecates all over the Mother, the furniture, etc., nurses on demand, they sleep on the same schedule, in other words, the Mother just turns into a baby support platform and the home turns into a sty.  Someone has to support this whole mess by getting food, etc. for Mom, trying to keep the home in some sort of shape, and keeping any other children alive while Mom "bonds" with the baby.  It takes either a whole lot of money for household help or a husband with no self esteem and lots of time on his hands.

I have an acquaintance who is a Certified Nurse Midwife and she delivers a lot of babies at home for folks.  I also have an OB/GYN in the family who delivers babies at the hospital.  I think there should be a birthing center approach with midwives so that people can have a more inclusive and cheaper way to get a baby delivered in a safe and fully equipped environment, so that if Mom and baby get in trouble, the process gets moved into a doctor's hands ASAP.

Politicians get caught saying stuff that contradicts what they've said elsewhere because they have no fundamental beliefs.

The operate without any guiding principles thus they get confused about how they should answer a question that is rephrased or different enough not to register with their inner "list" of responses.

His so called filibuster, (which was praised to high heaven here as some indication of the second coming and saying contrariwise was soundly pooh poohed) was a bet of showmanship.

Now later on we come to find that his attitude isn't set so much in stone as in jello that is barely set.

He may walk this back but if you read what he said in his grand gesture in the Senate (he did talk for a long time so there's plenty of quotes to be had) and compare it to what he just recently said, you'll see a different tone and attitude that are disparate and not reconcilable.

He's just another liar trying to sell the public something that's not good for it and will cost too much. Just like every carpet bagging door to door salesman, used car salesman or 3 card monte dealer that ever existed

224 My neighbor told me about two lesbians who were having a baby. The pregnant one broke up with her partner a couple of months before the due date and was living alone. She went into labor a month early and did not call for help because she wanted to have the baby at home. So, she gave birth at home to a preemie. After delivery, she waited several hours before calling an ambulance. My neighbor thought this was cool but I started screaming. The bimbo had no way of knowing if the infant was in respiratory distress or not. No way of suctioning the kid out. Had no way of knowing how to dry the lungs out. I'd like to know why she called an ambulance. Why didn't she just walk to the hospital if she is so against everything.

Further to our Canadian jihadi murder plot: heard on the news this morning that the FBI tried to stall the RCMP and get them to hold back on arresting the perps, but the RCMP went ahead and did it anyway.  They'd been watching these guys for awhile (the FBI was watching them too, as the plot was to be carried out on both sides of the border).  The RCMP feared that the Boston Bombing might act as a spur to action, which seems pretty sensible to me, so they pulled the plug and arrested the guys.  The FBI wanted to maintain the "What, me worry?" pose.

240 re: Republican National Leadership 1. representing constituents An aside, before McCain immigrated to AZ to take Goldwater's Senate seat, politicians generally ran for office within the State where they'd grown up. McCain marked the new age of GOP carpetbaggers, not a good thing. No true connection with the people or the state, "constituency" becoming just another word without meaning, all things provided by globalist special interests that deny "citizenship" replaced by "populations". Dan Quayle's son "represents" AZ like another hole in the rock. In TX, Jeb Bush's son G.Prescott would usurp the Texas Republican Party /already said leadership in their pocket, v. voters. 2. upholding due process for US citizens And on "principles", Sen. Cornyn was Texas Attorney General who signed off on the Williamson County fraudulent life sentence v. innocent husband incarcerated 20 years before released on appeal this year to the chagrin of all elected to the justice system at the time. Of course the husband was the easiest patsy to frame and convict despite blood evidence to the contrary at the scene of his wife's bloody murder. Cornyn never lifted a finger to help the innocent husband get his appeal. True enough, a lot of cases go down and get signed off. But this case had the bloody bandana that the DA and Judge suppressed from the defense. This case wasn't AG Cornyn's only wrong, unfortunately. But hey, no one's perfect, and there he is in Senate Republican Leadership now. Discomforting, knowing that he applies the corrupt law enforcement generalization, "Well, he's guilty of something" when fingering a suspect who's innocent. The only "trust" in politics is in corruption. Innocent until proven guilty? Tried in the press, less trustworthy than Congress. Under terrorism and media frenzy to make a story happen, and the administration's policy to frame scapegoats for every occasion, and Americans' unrealistic expectation to solve every problem within an hour, we're in a world of shit. Miranda or no, Mob rule v. Rule of Law.

241 Shooting drones ain't easy.

First you have to know they're around and then you have to spot them.
Then you have to get in range to hit them.

All the while they have video of you preparing.

I'm thinking that illegal jamming might be useful. A scanning detector in the freqs used and then blast them with EMF at that freq. They lose control and the drone goes down.
At worst they lose the video feed at best you become the proud owner of a drone in slightly used condition.

244 A terrorist being on welfare is disgusting, but we see something similar, if to a lesser degree, everyday. How many criminals are on "assistance", as it's politely called these days? How many of your tax dollars go to support people so they'll have the free time to rob your house while you're at work? Terrorist or criminal, they get to victimize our society twice -- first, by taking our money, then by stealing/assaulting/killing us.

Morning, all!

So Dartmouth has pulled an Oberlin today.  *rolling eyes*

Dartmouth cancels classes after threats

Boston.com: http://tiny.cc/sqp1vw

...Hundreds of high school seniors deciding whether to attend the Ivy League college in Hanover    (NH)    were watching a student performance Friday night when about 15    (Dartmouth)    students burst in chanting ‘‘Dartmouth has a problem!Â’Â’ That led to online threats being made against the protesters and their perceived supporters.

College administrators sent a campus-wide message Tuesday night announcing that WednesdayÂ’s classes would be replaced by programs focused on the collegeÂ’s commitment to fostering respectful debate...

How ridiculous is this?   The actions of a few protesters, and the further actions of some idiots online who made threats towards SPECIFIC individuals,    leads to a full campus shutdown and a childish "discussion" about respectful debate.    Sorry, isn't this fucking Dartmouth?   You know, where the richie-richies go?   Where you're supposed to already be really smart and shit?   And they need to have a discussion about "respectful debate?"

Fuck that noise.

Sorry, is my Dartmouth bias showing?     Everyone I've ever known who went to Dartmouth has been a colossal douche.  I suppose they're the ones who got stuck in this state because they were TOO douchey to get a job anywhere else.

292 It is almost as if the Obama administration considers security vigilance itself a species of Islamophobia. The casual security on the anniversary of 9/11 at the Benghazi consulate — when others had shut their consulates down — seems to fit with that mindset. An administration that prides itself on better relations with Muslims tends to hesitate before taking any action that would imply the opposite.

ACLU-style Muslim groups have exploited the Obama administrationÂ’s Islamophilia to the hilt, demanding and frequently getting changes to security programs out of sensitivity to Islam. According to the mom of the Boston bombers, her oldest son even tried to convert visiting FBI officials to his jihadist Islam, which completes the picture of politically correct haplessness under Obama.

310 I guess Tamerlan bought the bomb supplies with tax money saved by the Democracy he despised. Below is what happened at a 1999 "coexist" meeting. They take all advantages of the free Western world they despise, use it against us, and then try to die as martyrs. I saved this quote over a decade ago from a British newspaper. Chilling words:

"A famous "moderate", Dr Zaki Badawi, the Egyptian director of the Muslim College in Ealing, has written: "Islam endeavours to expand in Britain . . . It hopes that one day the whole of mankind will be one Muslim community, the Umma."

In 1999, the Vatican hosted a conference of Muslim and Christian leaders, attended by the Titular Archbishop of Smyrna. He reports that a Muslim participant was disarmingly frank about the purpose of Islamic settlers in pluralistic Western societies. Addressing the Christian delegates from Europe, he allegedly said: "Because of our religion, we will invade you; because of your democracy, we will destroy you."

325 According to the mom of the Boston bombers, her oldest son even tried to convert visiting FBI officials to his jihadist Islam, /either she's believable or she's not. It's the "visiting FBI officials" that disconcerts from the series. Either the FBI knew about him or not; either they were attempting to use him to infiltrate or not. That the official story falsely framed these thugs with the 7/11 robbery matters since the 7/11 store manager, video footage and corporate spokesperson all say that these brothers are not the robbers of their store, absolutely do not look anything like the robbers of their store. [USA Today, Apr.19] So why the "need" to fill in the bag o' guilt of bombers as if 7/11 store robbers. And now Rand Paul's quote supporting Lethal Drones killing on site the first guy with a gun leaving the scene of a robbery. What could go wrong?

PJ Media - The Memory of Breslan, the Shame of Boston

Enough with all the chest-thumping, mingled with manly tears, about the dramatic end of the Marathon bombersÂ’ reign of terror in Boston last week. From the press coverage, youÂ’d think the entire city (which is actually rather small) rose up as one and smote two evil Chechyans a stunning blow for truth, justice, liberty and the American Way. Nothing could be further from the truth.

What we saw instead was a city cowering in fear, led by two particularly pusillanimous toads in Gov. Deval Patrick and Mayor Mumbles Menino, who had the services of some 10,000 armed personnel — literally, a small army — to take downÂ… wait for itÂ… a wounded teenager with a gun, and maybe some self-detonating explosives.

Ugh.   I have another day of endless meetings and brainstorming sessions today.   God give me strength.    One of the people I have to work with is such a   twit,   he doesn't realize that you can't open a word document in excel, and vice versa.  And don't get me started on PDFs.

*HEAD.  DESK*

This is an exact transcript of one and a half hours    worth    of yesterday's three hour meeting   (names changed to protect the FUCKING STUPID):

"Bob, delete that file, please.  It's not applicable to this question.

"No, Bob...  You have to close the file first.

"Bob, it's open.

"Close the file, Bob.  It won't let you delete because it's open.

"The file is open, Bob.   Close it first.

"Go to the FILE menu and hit CLOSE.

"No, on the other document.

"No, the one on the screen in front of you, not the other screen.

"No, that's the document we were talking about an hour ago.  Close that document, too.

"No, don't delete that document.

"Close the other document and delete it.

"You're getting that error message because it's open, Bob.  You have to close the document, THEN delete it."

I wish to God I was kidding.

I won't give you the play by play of the OTHER half hour's worth of conversation during this three hour meeting that entailed explaining to "Bob" that the reason he couldn't see all the files in a particular folder is because he was viewing the folder through an Office application's "OPEN" dialog box, not in Windows Explorer.   "There are six files in that folder, Bob.  You can only see the one because the other files are Word documents and you're in Excel.  This would be easier if you'd just navigate to the folder on the shared drive, Bob."

He doesn't know what we mean by shared drive.

I AM NOT MAKING THIS     SHIT UP.

Btw, Bob?  PhD.      Probably makes about $30K more per year than I do.

*cries    inconsolably into coffee mug*

Off I slog.

Where are these
marauding Muslim-haters undergoing a post-Boston freakout?

-------------

When it comes to killing Muslims, nobody can top  Muslims.

Like the global jihad, the ongoing regional sectarian conflict in the Middle East is never labeled for what it is.  Some radical brand of  Alawite Shia, Shia, or Salafist Sunni is apparently lobbing chemical weapons around in Syria.  As I said the other day, even Hitler did not use those things in battle.   Too nauseating for a guy with death camps.   But Muslims are apparently willing to use them against another sect.

That is one nation.  Libya is not exactly looking like Switzerland either.  Egypt.  Mali.  Pakistan.  And so on.

Mali is a perfect example.  Al Qaedaish Salafists and Tuareg rebels  flush with US weapons  from Libya  steamrolled the North filled with mostly peaceful syncretic musical Muslims.   The poor French are stuck there trying to get out after the early big victories.

364 Marathon bombings mastermind Tamerlan Tsarnaev was living on taxpayer-funded state welfare benefits even as he was delving deep into the world of radical anti-American Islamism, the Herald has learned.

What will it take for the dam to finally break and this country (or enough of it) gets fed up enough to kick the crooked bastards out of office and dismantle the liberal utopia? Or are we so far gone with the brain dead that we're already headed over the cliff and there's no turning back?

Is the Republican Party a wholly owned subsidiary of the Bush clan? This is embarrassing.

W. wasnt a bad President, but he wasnt good either. I will say this for him though: he tried to make a mark for himself. Jeb I fear would be much more like Bush 41.

Police are investigating an anonymous forum poster who praised Boston bombing suspects Tamerlan and Dzhokhar Tsarnaev and later made a threat against a Catholic high school in Fairfax, Virginia.

The online poster goes by the handle “Prophet Muhammad” and has made several disturbing statements on the Fairfax Underground website in the last month. On Friday, he posted a threat against Paul VI Catholic High School:

“Inshallah, Paul VI High School will be the scene of another massacre. Allahu akbar!”

374 Rickb223 @341 You know that, I know that, the jihadists are going to insist on being taught the hard way. The government being only nominally on our side (at best) means there's going to be a lot more lpeople hurt and killed than should be necessary for them to learn.

Poppy was a worthless pile of shit who the Repukes shackled Reagan with and tried undoing every fucking good thing that Ronnie accomplished.  He confused the hell out of all the freedom seeking people behind the Iron Curtain who had the bit in their mouth after Reagan gave them explicit support, only to have Poppy and his band of apparatchiks urge them to move more cautiously.  Fortunately they said Fuck that Shit.

378 How is it that the Russian Intelligence service warned the FBI about Tamerlan being a terrorist and our government says they had no ties to outside groups? How does that work? Something here stinks bad. I wish we still had journalists in the US to get all watch-doggy and stuff.

379 MWR,

That's pretty much what my job is. You would think that people paying for internet service would have some idea of how to use a browser or email program, but it's obvious that some of them don't.

And we had a spam email asking for people's information go out yesterday. Spent the day telling people to delete it and not to click on the links. Some people never learn.

384 "I still say it isn't really a religion, but rather a political and military movement disguised as a religion." -Miss Marple at April 24, 2013 09:44 AM Now stale thread. Let's discuss "religion." The word is too broad for meaning. A cult may use a "God" or a "Leader," or some other focus, but by the fruits do you know them, right? Some individual dupes in Jonestown might've been truly devout, personally religious, however misled and irreligious Jones proved to be. "There is no God but Allah" sounds similar to "I am the Lord your God, you shall have no other gods before me," but it seems only one leads to "Love God as your Father and all as your brethren; on this hang all the laws and the prophets," the Golden Rule, the social compact of liberty and responsibility.

385 And Paul Ryan, resident genius, walks in arm and arm with Luis Gutierrez, one of the slimiest players of the race card out there. 386 "And yes I have BDS, since 2006. But I aquired it the old fashioned way. I paid attention to what was said and done, and what was not said or done. Posted by: ExSnipe at April 24, 2013 07:42 AM" Exactly. George W. Bush and Jeb Bush consider George H.W. Bush to be a fount of wisdom to be consulted. It's not that we're crazy and have a delusion against people named Bush. They work together for a center-left policy agenda, and, beyond the ideological tilt, they are stupid. And, they rally stupid center-left Republicans around them. It was only last year that John Sununu tried to help Romney knock out Gingrich, by slamming Giingrich for not being on board with the 1990 budget compromise. According to Sununu, who went to the press with this, Gingrich was asked to support Bush, didn't say no at the meeting, and then stabbed the President in the back by attacking the deal in public. http://www.newhampshire.com/article/20111207/NEWS0602/712019999/0/SPORTS That's what I mean by stupid. After 1992, they still remember the tax-hike of 1990 as a masterstroke and its critics are vulnerable for opposing it. Remember Rick Perry saying opponents of benefits to illegal aliens were "Heartless"? That's a masterstroke of tact beyond Jeb Bush's abilities. "Immigrants replenish the American spirit. Most immigrants come here to secure a better life for themselves and their families. They cherish the values of hard work, faith, family, enterprise and patriotism that have made this country great. Meanwhile, many who were lucky enough to have been born here have grown complacent or even disdainful of these values. America's immigration system should provide opportunities for people who share the country's core values to become citizens, thereby strengthening the nation as have countless immigrants have before them." --WSJ 1/25/13 http://online.wsj.com/article/SB10001424127887323482504578229660442099732.html Jeb Bush may have a lock within the Party, but that just means the Party will go down with him.
