— Gabriel Malor Happy Wednesday.
You may have heard about a story that ran in some media outlets -- Washington Examiner, Daily Caller -- that claimed that the RNC tried to hire Lady Gaga to perform at the convention. It did not. Via email: "To be clear, the RNC neither asked, offered, thought of or ever considered the idea of Lady Gaga performing at our convention. And clearly, we didn't offer a million dollars. The story is actually referencing an event by American Action Network, an independent group that is no way affiliated or connected to the Republican National Committee or Republican Convention."
Republican Sen. Mark Kirk endorsed gay marriage yesterday.* He's not up for reelection until 2016, if he chooses to run. The Illinois legislature is currently considering a gay marriage law.
Even WaPo is getting sick of Obama's (and Biden's and Feinstein's and Pelosi's) use of the false "40% of gun sales lack background checks" claim. Three Pinocchios: "A White House spokesman declined to comment on why the president keeps using the 'up to 40 percent' statistic." I think we know.
Having learned absolutely nothing from the past decade, the Obama Admin has decided-- you know, what? Just click through and read the headline. This guy.
Oh, and the story of the idiots trying to rig the New York City mayoral election was pointed out to me by a commenter yesterday. I wondered how anyone could be so stupid as to think they'd get away with such an obvious crime. I'm not the only one: "This latest political scandal has to be the dumbest, most delusional scheme ever concocted."
* Corrected [ace]: Gabe made a typo and left "gay" out of "gay marriage." I've corrected, with his permission.

Gabe is so silly.
Illinois has one of the strongest Civil Unions laws in the country, but it contains explicit language regarding the ability of religious institutions NOT having to perform or acknowledge any ceremonies they deem inappropriate.
Now... why would the gay marriage zealots need to do ANYTHING to change the law in Illinois.... I wonder...

Joe Walsh did add some needed rocker attitude to the band.. but I think it was Don Henley's writing in the later years that really made the band what it was.

Good morning, ‘rons and ‘ronettes. It was a late night at stately Poppins Manor, so we’ll have to make do with a short Yul Brynner story today:
Seven months into its Broadway run, the stagedoor man for Rodgers and Hammerstein’s The King and I came to Brynner’s dressing room. “There’s an elderly man here who says he’s Cecil B. DeMille,” the man told Brynner, frowning. “He says he must see you immediately.” Brynner was drenched in perspiration and took a moment to wipe the sweat off his shaved head as he thought. “Well, if he insists,” the actor finally said, “let him in.”
As it happens, it really was DeMille waiting for an audience with Brynner. The moment he entered the dressing room, he said, without preamble, “Mr. Brynner, how would you like to play a leading role in a movie that your great-grandchildren will see?” “I’d like that very much, Mr. DeMille,” replied the astonished Brynner. “Then would you please accept to play Ramses in The Ten Commandments ? asked C.B. The two shook hands, and it was settled, even though their lawyers spent the next three years working out the details.
DeMille and Brynner became fast friends during the shooting, which would be the directorÂ’s last picture. BrynnerÂ’s own photography was completed months before the project wrapped, but he flew back to Egypt for the last day of filming.
The shot was the massive “Exodus” scene. It was also DeMille’s 74th birthday. “I could see he just didn’t want to get off that boom,” Brynner remembered. “His one regret, I think, was that he didn’t die as he finished the film. He was so sad. He kept trying to think of another shot when it was really over.”
And now my story is over. I hope you all have a wonderful day.
So let it be written. So let it be done.

If customers wanted ads, they'd watch all-ad channels...like late night TV infomercials.
Curiously, I don't see infomercial channels anywhere in the top 10.
Even when you ditch the overt ads, you're still bombarded by defacto ads in the form of product placements. Manufacturers of soda, computers, cars, etc all paid BIG CASH to get their products features on popular shows.

Stealing this from Hot Air (which I understand is becoming more and more de rigeur....KIDDING):
Jim Carrey saying he never wanted to take your guns away...
-----
For those who say IÂ’m a hypocrite because I have an armed bodyguard, lets make one thing clear: No one in my employ is allowed to carry a large magazine and NO ONE IS ASKING ANYONE TO GIVE UP THEIR RIGHT TO BEAR ARMS, though it is in the vested interests of those who profit by gun sales to make it seem so. ItÂ’s just the type of arms, the easy access and the means with which to cause massive devastation to good and innocent people that I hope we can limit. ItÂ’s the quality of mercy, the tiniest spark of empathy that I know lives in every one of us that I wish to ignite in you.
And to the bullies who will try to marginalize and discredit me by saying, “Shut up, you’re just an actor,” while they brag about what a great president the ACTOR Ronald Reagan was, who threaten me with the demise of my acting career and much worse, I say SO BE IT! How shallow do they think I am? I would trade my money, my fame, my reputation and legacy if there were the slightest chance of preventing the anguish of another Columbine, Virginia Tech, Aurora, or Sandy Hook Elementary School. I ask you, truly, what manner of human being would not?
I have been aghast at the level of hatred heaped upon me, my family and the people I work with over a mere difference of opinion on this issue. Perhaps my words were a bit harsh at the onset, but calling someone a “Motherfucker” is far different than wishing them to die. It is shocking to see this concerted effort to brutally intimidate anyone who speaks of a compassionate compromise.

Usually you see someone this much out of it, they have a committal order.

As a reminder, though no one should need it, the rules to avoid bannanation are fairly simply: don't write racist shit, don't post links to porn, don't post links to lawbreaking activity (read: torrents), and don't attack your fellows on account of their peculiar characteristics (read: don't attack the women commenters for being women, the gay commenters for being gay, the ginger commenters for lacking souls, etc.). Typically, you get one warning. Bans happen when our polite warnings are disregarded.

An Anchor tag links to a site. That site has content and a title. The strongest correlation the search engine makes is between the text contained within the anchor tag to the content linked. This is because most sites, including and especially Wikipedia, link the words to the page that is about that word, and search engines work well if they proxy basic word searches to online dictionaries, thesauruses and encyclopedias. Overall correlations are secret, but anyone who has run a blogger blog knows that every spammer includes a link with usually two or three words (single words are too hard to compete for, usually) that links to their site. This is a way of semantically connecting shorter groups of words probabilistically to larger groups of words (page titles and page content.) Both the title and the content are considered as well, but the link text is the simplest way to fudge this correlation, and this probabilistic correlation is the 'magic' of search engines. The probabilities are then based on clickthroughs, site traffic, interlinking, etc.
Words matter on the internet and guess what, our enemies take it a bit more seriously than we do, I guess.

No such thing as "railroading" per se. It's systemic justice, and lawyers are duty-bound to pursue it. The prosecutor must prosecute the most innocent of defendants, and the defense must defend zealously the scummiest of defendants.
It's why I quit. Atticus Finch be damned; there's no room for conscience in law, or at least in an even moderately successful law career. You take what comes in the door or you starve.
It's analagous to being a CEO - you have to view people as things, and make decisions accordingly. You have to shut down your conscience. It's ultimately necessary, but only a certain kind of person can do it.

But that won't stop the liberal mafia from trying to create a large political/cultural point out of it.
For example, I give you Xasmin Garcia:
--------
On Sunday, after springing in the air to contest a Duke 3-pointer, LouisvilleÂ’s Kevin Ware landed tragically wrong. He sustained the kind of injury thatÂ’s more likely to happen to athletes wearing helmets.
His teammates saw his bone had broken skin, and immediately turned away. A few fell to the floor. Players on the Louisville bench covered their faces with towels and leaned their bodies in the opposite direction of the mangled leg.
They were shaken, clearly, by their teammateÂ’s horrific injury. But, with one exception, the only people who rushed to WareÂ’s side were those paid to do it.
LetÂ’s imagine for a moment that Kevin was Kate and her teammates wore sports bras.
The first instinct for most female athletes would have been to help, no matter how unsettling the dangling ankle. Coaches likely would have had to ask players to back up to give their teammate room.

While it has been previously reported that DHS has solicited the purchase of 1.6 billion rounds of ammunition over the next four to five years, the government agency shows only 263,733,362 rounds in its current inventory.
But, DHS estimates it will spend $37,263,698 on ammunition in FY 2013.
Last year, DHS spent $36,535,910, a decrease from 2011's ammunition expense of $38,237,305.
Also, over the last three years the number of rounds purchased by DHS has declined.
In 2010, the agency purchased 148,314,825 rounds. In 2011, 108,664,054 rounds were purchased; and in 2012, 103,178,200 rounds.
... you mean they are burning through over 100 million rounds a year ?
And still have enough for at least two years.

Wait so Obama's going with the Clinton Plan of "force loans to poor people?" Yeah because that ended so well.
Next he'll start encouraging anyone with any value left to use their home as a freaking credit card.
Here's the deal from someone who bought a house 6-7 months ago.
The rules aren't as stringent as he's making them sound. I managed to snag a house for something close to 3.5% down (we had 5%, but with interest rates at 3.5% fixed at the time it made no sense to not just borrow the extra money.)
Yes I had to come up with PMI, but lump sum PMI on that loan right now was only $3300 and many banks are letting you finance that over the life of the loan. (Which many people will remark sounds stupid, but again, it's only 3.5% APR, if I own the home for all 30 years and don't move, I think I'm out maybe $2k difference over the entire 30 years, and your monthly mortgage for the first 7 or so is significantly lower.) I did the math at the time, and remember it made sense.
Now the kicker is I did have to have good credit, and I do as well as proof of income (thankfully my wife is still employed.)
Credit's a bit tricky right now. I do feel bad for anyone who simply has no credit history (because they have been living a creditless life by choice.) But sadly the game does have to be played. The wife and I were there at first, we had only our 2 car loans and a single credit card (we didn't really need credit) plus the two student loans. We picked up a second card in my wife's name and a few cards for things like Kohl's and the car repair shop in my name and suddenly our credit score is hitting the upper limits. And we're still under 30.
So it's not like it's remarkably hard, so the people with bad credit probably shouldn't be trusted with loans anyway. It's a miserable statistical model because it can only tell you whose fucked up in the past (and can't predict people who are fuckups waiting to happen.) but the people it does show as bad, are usually pretty F'ing Bad.
(Side note: we've paid the credit card off every month in full, except with there's a 0% interest deal where we move our payment to our interest bearing account, collect a few cents and then pay it off. Across all our credit we've had 1 late payment, and that one was because our online banking wigged out and didn't send payments one month for some odd reason, and we didn't catch it until one was past due. But that's it. We called the day we found out and made a phone payment, I don't think it ever got reported anyway.)

Here's a piece of info for y'all. Although a rural Alabama doctor might "sign off" on a disability claim for dubious reasons, it is not the patient's doctor who determines whether SSI disability status is granted. That decision comes down to a bureaucracy, and is determined by a tortuous and cumbersome process. Certainly there are patients gaming the system, and in a down economy, some folks who have trouble getting employment will turn to a social welfare program. There are also doctors who game the system, either for profit, or sincerely thinking they are 'helping' their patients. Ultimately though this is about centralized planning being implemented in an arbitrary and corrupt fashion, the buying of indulgences from the priesthood of the bureaucracy if you will.
This will get worse, and will not end until the substance of the beast is devoured.

Would sound outrageous! But wait, when you read it you find they were illegally immigrating; the distinction was important.
But beyond that, I do not agree that these are 'marriages' at all. They are partnerships, but because we use a common language with y'all they have shoehorned us into referring to them as 'same sex marriages' and so forth.

Leave it up to the GOP establishment and it's faithful liberal bloggers like Gabe to put in the blog that Kirk "endorsed marriage".........
Get this through your thick heads, GAY MARRIAGE DESTROYS THE BIBLICAL AND TRADITIONAL CONCEPT OF MARRIAGE. When a politician endorses gay marriage they are doing the exact opposite of "endorsing marriage". They are trying to destroy the traditional and historic and religious concept of it.

What IS true is that there are basic requirements for civil marriage, such as age, number of persons involved (2), waiting period, etc. Oh, and the whole man/woman thing, which is what is being discussed here.
Marriage is no more "illegal" because it has requirements, than drivers licenses are "illegal" because you have to pass a test. Or voting is "illegal" because you have to be 18.
It is not the legality of marriage that is the target of this tortured conversation, it is the requirements.
