Happy Wednesday.

You may have heard about a story that ran in some media outlets -- Washington Examiner, Daily Caller -- that claimed that the RNC tried to hire Lady Gaga to perform at the convention. It did not. Via email: "To be clear, the RNC neither asked, offered, thought of or ever considered the idea of Lady Gaga performing at our convention. And clearly, we didn't offer a million dollars. The story is actually referencing an event by American Action Network, an independent group that is no way affiliated or connected to the Republican National Committee or Republican Convention."

Republican Sen. Mark Kirk endorsed gay marriage yesterday.* He's not up for reelection until 2016, if he chooses to run. The Illinois legislature is currently considering a gay marriage law.

Even WaPo is getting sick of Obama's (and Biden's and Feinstein's and Pelosi's) use of the false "40% of gun sales lack background checks" claim. Three Pinocchios: "A White House spokesman declined to comment on why the president keeps using the 'up to 40 percent' statistic." I think we know.

Having learned absolutely nothing from the past decade, the Obama Admin has decided-- you know, what? Just click through and read the headline. This guy.

Oh, and the story of the idiots trying to rig the New York City mayoral election was pointed out to me by a commenter yesterday. I wondered how anyone could be so stupid as to think they'd get away with such an obvious crime. I'm not the only one: "This latest political scandal has to be the dumbest, most delusional scheme ever concocted."

* Corrected [ace]: Gabe made a typo and left "gay" out of "gay marriage." I've corrected, with his permission.

36

Good morning, ‘rons and ‘ronettes.  It was a late night at stately Poppins Manor, so weÂ’ll have to make do with a short Yul Brynner story today:

Seven months into its Broadway run, the stagedoor man for Rodgers and HammersteinÂ’s The King and I came to BrynnerÂ’s dressing room.  “ThereÂ’s an elderly man here who says heÂ’s Cecil B. DeMille,” the man told Brynner, frowning.  “He says he must see you immediately.”  Brynner was drenched in perspiration and took a moment to wipe the sweat off his shaved head as he thought.  “Well, if he insists,” the actor finally said, “let him in.”

As it happens, it really was DeMille waiting for an audience with Brynner.  The moment he entered the dressing room, he said, without preamble, “Mr. Brynner, how would you like to play a leading role in a movie that your great-grandchildren will see?”  “IÂ’d like that very much, Mr. DeMille,” replied the astonished Brynner.  “Then would you please accept to play Ramses in The Ten Commandments ? asked C.B.  The two shook hands, and it was settled, even though their lawyers spent the next three years working out the details.

DeMille and Brynner became fast friends during the shooting, which would be the directorÂ’s last picture.  BrynnerÂ’s own photography was completed months before the project wrapped, but he flew back to Egypt for the last day of filming.

The shot was the massive “Exodus” scene.  It was also DeMilleÂ’s 74th birthday.  “I could see he just didnÂ’t want to get off that boom,” Brynner remembered.  “His one regret, I think, was that he didnÂ’t die as he finished the film.  He was so sad.  He kept trying to think of another shot when it was really over.”

And now my story is over.  I hope you all have a wonderful day.

So let it be written.  So let it be done.

38 Here is my headline of today: Number of Americans in poverty highest since 1960, proving once again that Obama does indeed suck cock. "The number of Americans living in poverty has spiked to levels not seen since the mid 1960s, classing 20 per cent of the country’s children as poor… …The U.S. Census Bureau puts the number of Americans in poverty at levels not seen since the mid-1960s when President Lyndon B. Johnson launched the federal government’s so-called War on Poverty. As President Barack Obama began his second term in January, nearly 50 million Americans — one in six — were living below the income line that defines poverty, according to the bureau. A family of four that earns less than $23,021 a year is listed as living in poverty. The bureau said 20 percent of the country’s children are poor."

46 make do with a short Yul Brynner story today I have my own. At one time the Valley Forge Music Fair was a top venue in the area. Frank Sinatra, Dean Martin, Robert Goulet, Sergio Franchi, Yul Brenner, and just about every big name, at that time. It was well supported by the community. In fact the big names stayed at area hotels and it would not be the least bit surprising to see a Hollywood 'star' in the hotel or bar. I saw Yule Brenner walking out of the local Sheraton one day and was surprised how short he was. He sure looked bigger on the screen. So, long story short, some real estate developer offered huge money for the land under the VFMF. Neighbors were outraged, community was pissed off. But the deal was done, and some mega-supermarket moved in, and guess what? People refused to shop there. It went under, followed by another store which failed. Memories fade over time and it's finally a viable shopping area, but it took more then a decade.

Even when you ditch the overt ads, you're still bombarded by defacto ads in the form of product placements.  Manufacturers of soda, computers, cars, etc all paid BIG CASH to get their products features on popular shows.

We are prosecuting just such a case here now and have overturned dozens of convictions in Texas upon further investigation. There are several cases already settled. Surprise, surprise, it benefits a Boston brewery. Apparently cutting taxes is bad, except when some animals are more equal then others.

224 rickb223, well FARC in Colombia sold out long ago to be the enforcers for the narco-terrorists. True. However, they WERE all Colombian. Just with different viewpoints. All I'm saying is that if a group who promotes themselves as a superior race sells out for money, the have reduced their message to being simple thugs. They will lose their own supporters. That would be like the Klan in Byrd's time selling out to the blacks because they were offered $$$. Or La Raza selling out to whites for $$$. Not saying they wouldn't. Just that it's a huge tactical error to do so if you want to continue pushing the "my race is superior" meme.

Stealing this from Hot Air (which I understand is becoming more and more de rigeur....KIDDING):

Jim Carrey saying he never wanted to take your guns away...

-----

For those who say IÂ’m a hypocrite because I have an armed bodyguard, lets make one thing clear: No one in my employ is allowed to carry a large magazine and NO ONE IS ASKING ANYONE TO GIVE UP THEIR RIGHT TO BEAR ARMS, though it is in the vested interests of those who profit by gun sales to make it seem so. ItÂ’s just the type of arms, the easy access and the means with which to cause massive devastation to good and innocent people that I hope we can limit. ItÂ’s the quality of mercy, the tiniest spark of empathy that I know lives in every one of us that I wish to ignite in you.

And to the bullies who will try to marginalize and discredit me by saying, “Shut up, you’re just an actor,” while they brag about what a great president the ACTOR Ronald Reagan was, who threaten me with the demise of my acting career and much worse, I say SO BE IT! How shallow do they think I am? I would trade my money, my fame, my reputation and legacy if there were the slightest chance of preventing the anguish of another Columbine, Virginia Tech, Aurora, or Sandy Hook Elementary School. I ask you, truly, what manner of human being would not?

I have been aghast at the level of hatred heaped upon me, my family and the people I work with over a mere difference of opinion on this issue. Perhaps my words were a bit harsh at the onset, but calling someone a “Motherfucker” is far different than wishing them to die. It is shocking to see this concerted effort to brutally intimidate anyone who speaks of a compassionate compromise.

237 "Poverty strikes at 1960s level" Ah, completing the futile socialism circle since LBJ's "Great Society" -- too big to fail welfare state reverts to poverty, again. Then again, the "meritocracy" memory from the 60s was a booming economy. Those returning veterans who took advantage of their educational benefits enjoyed the "golden age" for the American middle class. And ironically, "the greatest generation" that fought fascism and in turn communism (WWII-Korea) in bitter, bloody wars from defensive to pre-emptive offensive (Vietnam, Cambodia), upon their return home, voted for the "compassionate" LBJ propaganda, willingly augmenting what FDR had provided into what became an unstoppable flood of tax burden that preempted constitutional governance. "It's for the children." That the American gone globalist corporations do not pay their taxes, as with their musical chair elitist board member pool evading tax payments (Geithner), leaves the entire burden of government finance on the working class, no longer a secure middle class of Americans, no longer employed, government policy since Nixon/Kissinger outsourcing industry. But listen to Hannity and Rush placate you about the 1% paying 80% of the taxes that the IRS collects if that's your cup of tea. During the Robber Baron and Gilded eras, the 1% elitists did pay the majority of their income in taxes, and still had plenty of funds available to purchase castles, mansions, trust funds, and mass conglomerate purchases of our nation's natural resources to increase their own personal wealth, invest in industry (stateside). But then, so much avarice for monopoly into corporatism became the detriment of our nation's security and the meaning of citizenship as things have since played out and the 1% have monopolized the writing of all legislation, including tax law to recreate feudalism stateside, globally. As if the law ever applies to the most powerful and wealthy as to the working stiff who has to choose between purchasing groceries/home and an "affordable" insurance policy for "health care" mandated by Congress and the Supreme Court who made the USA an offer we couldn't refuse. And "the greatest generation" told their boomer kids to perpetuate the improvement of American standard of living for the next generation. So here we are. Seemingly back where we began, only much worse as rule of law evaporated some time ago.

258  Also, you'd never get banned just for annoying the other commenters. If that was the rule we'd either have no commenters left or the comments would look like the wasteland you usually get on blogs.

As a reminder, though no one should need it, the rules to avoid bannanation are fairly simply: don't write racist shit, don't post links to porn, don't post links to lawbreaking activity (read: torrents), and don't attack your fellows on account of their peculiar characteristics (read: don't attack the women commenters for being women, the gay commenters for being gay, the ginger commenters for lacking souls, etc.). Typically, you get one warning. Bans happen when our polite warnings are disregarded.

259 Some people (Homosexual activists) just happen to know how Search Engine Optimization works. Some other people (commenters on this blog) may not. Here's how it works.

An Anchor tag links to a site. That site has content and a title. The strongest correlation the search engine makes is between the text contained within the anchor tag to the content linked. This is because most sites, including and especially Wikipedia, link the words to the page that is about that word, and search engines work well if they proxy basic word searches to online dictionaries, thesauruses and encyclopedias. Overall correlations are secret, but anyone who has run a blogger blog knows that every spammer includes a link with usually two or three words (single words are too hard to compete for, usually) that links to their site. This is a way of semantically connecting shorter groups of words probabilistically to larger groups of words (page titles and page content.) Both the title and the content are considered as well, but the link text is the simplest way to fudge this correlation, and this probabilistic correlation is the 'magic' of search engines. The probabilities are then based on clickthroughs, site traffic, interlinking, etc.

Words matter on the internet and guess what, our enemies take it a bit more seriously than we do, I guess.

this is an individual who had their life destroyed by malicious
prosecution. It happens far too often in Texas that prosecutors railroad
someone into prison for a crime they did not commit knowing full well
what they are doing.

Posted by: The Generic, Award Winning Moron at April 03, 2013 07:45 AM (+I8Mq)

No such thing as "railroading" per se. It's systemic justice, and lawyers are duty-bound to pursue it. The prosecutor must prosecute the most innocent of defendants, and the defense must defend zealously the scummiest of defendants.

It's why I quit. Atticus Finch be damned; there's no room for conscience in law, or at least in an even moderately successful law career. You take what comes in the door or you starve.

It's analagous to being a CEO - you have to view people as things, and make decisions accordingly. You have to shut down your conscience. It's ultimately necessary, but only a certain kind of person can do it.

302 btw, 237 A flat tax would seem logical. But we have a SCOTUS that determined all fees and taxation, regardless, are a legal tax. Subsequently, tax penalties, regardless of application (fail ObamaCare tax and forfeit private property, bank accounts and face imprisonment), are "legal". Were a miracle to make a flat or even a fair tax, politicians would add fees/taxes to the books each legislative session, or the Potus would issue further taxation via EO. Before we knew it, Judges joined the fray, from deeming unconstitutional taxation "'legal" to actually ordering new taxes, augmenting their already unconstitutional overreach of power, legislating (tax) from the bench. Meanwhile, any American citizen supporting constitutional integrity is blacklisted, set-up ruined and even "disappeared" if deemed an unnecessary interference to national policy. Wilson did it, as did FDR with G-Men thugs. And those presidents are the model having established precedence for the current authoritarian trend.

--------

On Sunday, after springing in the air to contest a Duke 3-pointer, LouisvilleÂ’s Kevin Ware landed tragically wrong. He sustained the kind of injury thatÂ’s more likely to happen to athletes wearing helmets.

His teammates saw his bone had broken skin, and immediately turned away. A few fell to the floor. Players on the Louisville bench covered their faces with towels and leaned their bodies in the opposite direction of the mangled leg.

They were shaken, clearly, by their teammateÂ’s horrific injury. But, with one exception, the only people who rushed to WareÂ’s side were those paid to do it.

LetÂ’s imagine for a moment that Kevin was Kate and her teammates wore sports bras.

The first instinct for most female athletes would have been to help, no matter how unsettling the dangling ankle. Coaches likely would have had to ask players to back up to give their teammate room.

331 "DHS routinely establishes strategic sourcing contracts that combine the requirements of all its Components for commonly purchased goods and services such as ammunition, computer equipment and information technology services. These strategic sourcing contracts help leverage the purchasing power of DHS to efficiently procure equipment and supplies at significantly lower costs."

While it has been previously reported that DHS has solicited the purchase of 1.6 billion rounds of ammunition over the next four to five years, the government agency shows only 263,733,362 rounds in its current inventory.

But, DHS estimates it will spend $37,263,698 on ammunition in FY 2013.

Last year, DHS spent $36,535,910, a decrease from 2011's ammunition expense of $38,237,305.

Also, over the last three years the number of rounds purchased by DHS has declined.

In 2010, the agency purchased 148,314,825 rounds. In 2011, 108,664,054 rounds were purchased; and in 2012, 103,178,200 rounds.

... you mean they are burning through over 100 million rounds a year ?
And still have enough for at least two years.

Wait so Obama's going with the Clinton Plan of "force loans to poor people?"  Yeah because that ended so well.

Next he'll start encouraging anyone with any value left to use their home as a freaking credit card.

Here's the deal from someone who bought a house 6-7 months ago.

The rules aren't as stringent as he's making them sound.  I managed to snag a house for something close to 3.5% down (we had 5%, but with interest rates at 3.5% fixed at the time it made no sense to not just borrow the extra money.)

Yes I had to come up with PMI, but lump sum PMI on that loan right now was only $3300 and many banks are letting you finance that over the life of the loan.  (Which many people will remark sounds stupid, but again, it's only 3.5% APR, if I own the home for all 30 years and don't move, I think I'm out maybe $2k difference over the entire 30 years, and your monthly mortgage for the first 7 or so is significantly lower.)  I did the math at the time, and remember it made sense.

Now the kicker is I did have to have good credit, and I do as well as proof of income (thankfully my wife is still employed.)

Credit's a bit tricky right now. I do feel bad for anyone who simply has no credit history (because they have been living a creditless life by choice.) But sadly the game does have to be played.  The wife and I were there at first, we had only our 2 car loans and a single credit card (we didn't really need credit) plus the two student loans.  We picked up a second card in my wife's name and a few cards for things like Kohl's and the car repair shop in my name and suddenly our credit score is hitting the upper limits.  And we're still under 30.

So it's not like it's remarkably hard, so the people with bad credit probably shouldn't be trusted with loans anyway.  It's a miserable statistical model because it can only tell you whose fucked up in the past (and can't predict people who are fuckups waiting to happen.) but the people it does show as bad, are usually pretty F'ing Bad.

(Side note: we've paid the credit card off every month in full, except with there's a 0% interest deal where we move our payment to our interest bearing account, collect a few cents and then pay it off.  Across all our credit we've had 1 late payment, and that one was because our online banking wigged out and didn't send payments one month for some odd reason, and we didn't catch it until one was past due.  But that's it.  We called the day we found out and made a phone payment, I don't think it ever got reported anyway.)

370 You've probably seen the claims that social science research shows that gay marriage is either not harmful to kids, or a positive benefit. Nonsense. Those claims are based on very thin, highly politicized studies, as discussed in a very informative post at the (conservative) Just One Minute blog here: http://tinyurl.com/bomdvf3 In particular, this post has links to two "friend of the court" briefs submitted to the Supreme Court which evaluate the social science evidence in great detail. The first brief is from a group of social scientists which you can read here: http://tinyurl.com/cktmzvj The social scientists' brief summarizes its argument as follows: Quote: A persistent claim by those supporting same-sex marriage is that there is “no difference” in the outcomes of children raised by a biological mother and father and those who have been raised by two women or two men. That claim was made to the courts below, and will no doubt be made to this Court by associations like the American Psychological Association (“APA”). But as recent scholarship indicates, the claim is difficult to support because nearly all of the studies upon which the “no difference” assertion is based are rather limited, involving non-random, non-representative samples, often with relatively few participants. Specifically, the vast majority of the studies were based on samples of fewer than 100 parents (or children), and typically representative only of well-educated, white women (parents), often with elevated incomes. These are hardly representative samples of the lesbian and gay population raising children, and therefore not a sufficient basis to make broad claims about child outcomes of same-sex parenting structures... Indeed, the only studies that were based on large, random, representative samples tended to reveal the opposite conclusion, finding significant differences in the outcomes of children raised by parents in a same sex relationship and those raised by a married biological mother and father. End of quote. The second brief is by Leon Kass (here: http://tinyurl.com/c8oxfp3). The Kass brief argues, on the basis of substantial evidence: Quote: Notwithstanding the patent weaknesses of the existing research, [SSM proponents] sought to persuade the courts below that there is a scientific basis for constitutionalizing same sex marriage. In fact, there is no such basis. There neither are nor could possibly be any scientifically valid studies from which to predict the effects of a family structure that is so new and so rare. The necessary data simply do not exist. End of quote. In short, don't accept the claims of SSM proponents that scientific research shows that SSM is either neutral or good for children. Such claims are based on scientifically dubious, highly politicized research. Such claims have about as much truth-value as Mann's hockey stick.

Here's a piece of info  for y'all.   Although a rural Alabama doctor might "sign off" on a disability claim for dubious reasons, it is not the patient's doctor who determines whether SSI disability status is granted.  That decision comes down to a bureaucracy, and is determined by a tortuous and cumbersome process.  Certainly there are patients gaming the system, and in a down economy, some folks who have trouble getting employment will turn to a social welfare program.  There are also doctors who game the system, either for profit, or sincerely thinking they are 'helping' their patients.  Ultimately though this is about centralized planning being implemented in an arbitrary  and corrupt   fashion, the buying of indulgences from the priesthood of the bureaucracy if you will.

This will  get worse, and will   not end until the substance of the beast is devoured.

The only convincing argument I ever heard that was against the death penalty was an economic one: It costs more to execute someone (when you factor in appeals costs) than it costs to keep them in prison for life.

Not entirely directly relevant, just thought I'd point it out.

374 Gabe,
Not even the AP has changed their style book use your definition of "marriage"!

Its funny to see a post lamenting a change in language to favor one political view (see, http://minx.cc/?post=338815) so quickly followed by a cob doing the exact same thing!

Posted by: language at April 03, 2013 05:41 AM (/ix6a)

375 I'd like to hear more from the various commenters suggesting that your side of the marriage debate would be winning if only people would use the language you like. Tell me, how has that been working out so far? How do you propose to expand this language injunction to other people?

376 Republican Sen. Mark Kirk endorsed marriage yesterday.

-------------

A little late to the party, isn't he?  Civilization has been endorsing marriage for thousands of years.

378 MPPP,

I totall agree with you on Ayers and Boudin. I wish there was some way to defund universities for having criminals like that speaking on campus. Interesting how all that talk about the 1% doesn't seem to apply to rich a**holes like these two.

hey Gabe you're WINNING! in the next episode of the "laughing man Chronicles" we redefine adultery to mean "sex within a marriage with spouse"

yeah I kinda missed out on the whole "Illinois was against the union of individuals in a legal codicil" thing....

I guess you do learn a lot here every day...Illinois-finally catching up with Mesopotamia...

Straw man.
Didn't say one side would win if not for language. No one is trying to enjoin the use of language, but we do expect good faith use of language (unless used for moron humor) from a cob

Posted by: language at April 03, 2013 06:24 AM (/ix6a)

382 Gabriel,.

fix it. You know what you're doing, and stop it. If your side was so obviously right, why would they need to employ tactics like this?

Posted by: RiverC at April 03, 2013 06:31 AM (El+h4)

383 Seeking to change the legal definition of marriage is radical enough without deliberately muddying the waters by pretending that endorsing its redefinition is essentially the same as "endorsing marriage."  It's an act so Orwellian that no actual conservative would attempt it, and honestly no conservative blog should tolerate it from its contributors.

384 382 Bubba,

hey "it is for the cause" man...

Gabe is a lawyer after all...he knows precisely what he is doing...

Posted by: Harlekwin15-Emergency back Up Angst ID at April 03, 2013 06:34 AM (LRFds)

385 If your side was so obviously right, why would they need to employ tactics like this?

If my side is right, the "tactic" isn't even a tactic. My side believes that marriages, straight or gay, should be recognized under civil law. Its suits perfectly to say "legalize marriage" or "endorse marriage." Because my side believes that these are marriages.

I understand that ya'll disagree. That's nice. I don't have to match my language to your beliefs, though.

386 "Rocky Mountain Way." But by '73 it was just Joe Walsh. Were it not for him, the Eagles would have just been a poor-man's America. The Eagles were the poor man's Poco. Poco, before the soft rock schlock years.

387 I do not appreciate language being twisted into knots to advance a particular agenda, and I do not appreciate attempts to make it seem honest and aboveboard when it is not.

388 384 Gabe,

Yeah gabe I am glad illinois is jojning the last 3000 years of Western Civ and recognizing "marriage"....

I hear Ohio is recognizing property rights next year...

Gabe,
I've always liked your work.  I've been lurking/reading and enjoying your work since before you "came out" on this blog.  I appreciate you acknowledging it was a mistake; and I'll take you at your word that it was.  I guess I'm just saying, with your refusal to change it I'm disappointed, I expected more.

We'll never agree on the issue of gay marriage.  I'm sure we could both write lengthy legal briefs on our respective sides and neither of us would ever change our minds.

We don't expect you to conform your language to our beliefs, but we do expect honesty and basic journalistic integrity via an adjective.

Posted by: language at April 03, 2013 06:57 AM (/ix6a)

390 384

They're not marriages, and it isn't your language. If you want a language, go make one up. I'm serious about this. You're full of it, Malor.

Posted by: RiverC at April 03, 2013 06:59 AM (El+h4)

391 Gabriel, where the two sides of this issue disagree is NOT whether marriage "should be recognized under civil law," but what the civil should recognize as marriage.  It's not a matter of "endorsing" marriage or not, but of endorsing a particular definition, and so we're asking you to match your language, NOT to our beliefs, but instead to the reality of what's being argued.

It's plain as day that you're not arguing in good faith.

Posted by: Bubba at April 03, 2013 07:01 AM (8tLzE)

392 Yes, the qualifier must be used.

You would be as outraged if NYT decided to drop the qualifier 'illegal' from immigrants? What if they ran a story:

"Border Guard deports 1000 immigrants"

Would sound outrageous! But wait, when you read it you find they were illegally immigrating; the distinction was important.

But beyond that, I do not agree that these are 'marriages' at all. They are partnerships, but because we use a common language with y'all they have shoehorned us into referring to them as 'same sex marriages' and so forth.

Your link text stuffing nonsense needs to go, bro. You know you're wrong here and are selling out your mind for your cause. How does the freedom taste?

Posted by: RiverC at April 03, 2013 07:04 AM (El+h4)

393

Leave it up to the GOP establishment and it's faithful liberal bloggers like Gabe to put in the blog that Kirk "endorsed marriage".........

Get this through your thick heads,   GAY MARRIAGE DESTROYS THE BIBLICAL AND TRADITIONAL CONCEPT OF MARRIAGE.  When a politician endorses gay marriage they are doing the exact opposite of "endorsing marriage".  They are trying to destroy the traditional and historic and religious concept of it.

394 It's not your language either, ya bloody yank. Make up your own.

Posted by: The English at April 03, 2013 07:18 AM (vkB8G)

395 The phrase "Legalize Marriage" implies that marriage is illegal.  That is not true.  Marriage is not illegal.

What IS true is that there are basic requirements for civil marriage, such as age, number of persons involved (2), waiting period, etc.  Oh, and the whole man/woman thing, which is what is being discussed here.

Marriage is no more "illegal" because it has requirements, than drivers licenses are "illegal" because you have to pass a test.  Or voting is "illegal" because you have to be 18.

It is not the legality of marriage that is the target of this tortured conversation, it is the requirements.

397 Oh for fucks sake. Legalize Marriage is hyperbole. So? Are teh gays the only people ever to use hyperbole to make a point?

398 395 Augustus Caesar,

he weathered having Little Boot in teh brood well enough....

Frankly the point is not the "hurting of the gays" it is protection of the Church...

I must have missed where civil unions damages gays or grants them "nothing"

399 396 Teh Anglish,

"Immigrants deported by DHS' is just another way of saying "undocumented squatters forced to comply with residency laws"....

That's because it is about the language, and the thought that arises from the language. Christ have mercy. It's as though we want to fail and then feel bad about failing.

402 Oooh he almost got away with using a common rhetorical device, but you stopped him, didn't you, big guy? Really, don't be so literal. No one actually thinks Sandra Fluke is a literal prostitute either. Just in case you missed that hyperbole and don't want to let Ace get away with it.

Posted by: The English at April 03, 2013 07:45 AM (vkB8G)

403 Nice reposte. I almost felt a tingle. It's almost as though you're trying to even reframe *this* argument to favor you... wow!

Hey sock.

Go get stuffed.

404 "Kirk endorsed marriage" is technically accurate here. You guys just don't have the AoSHQ text-to-speech app to provide the proper context. It's pronounced "Kirk endorsed marriage," in a flamboyant sing song chorus line voice, like John Leguizamo in Priscilla, Queen of the Desert. Or whatever the name was. I can't keep those drag queen movies straight.
