A decently designed septic tank and leach field NEVER needs to be pumped if the bacteria are maintained.

My parents were 30 years in the same house and the septic tank was never pumped.  If you don't flush shit that will kill the bacteria, and indigestible solids, its an automatic system.

That stuff floats to the top of the septic tank and then can go out to the drain field. Instant death for proper drainage. Water doesn't leech trough grease or fat. Unless you pump a shit-load of acid to break it down. Better to dump grease into trash can, which I do. Or, they hook up a garbage disposal and fill the tank with too high a percentage of solids. But the nanny county can't warn people about the proper care and feeding of septic tanks and drain fields, instead they pass a law.

This was only 35 blocks from downtown Indianapolis in the early 1950's.

Outhouses were still found in suburban and rural portions of Marion country well into the early 1960's.

I started to post that I had local Boston news on and some professor said that polling shows Markey (dem) is way ahead of Lynch and that Gomez is way ahead in the republican polls. Today is primary day here in MA and they expect very low turnout. Gomez looked good until The Boston Globe published a letter Gomez wrote to Deval Patrick asking to be appointed to Lurch Kerry's seat because he supports the JEF's agenda. Gomez is supposed to be a republican. He also donated to TFG, as a favor to a friend. The man went on to say that no dem wants to be on the ticket against Gomez because the elderly people love him, he's been in room with them and Gomez and their faces light up when they talk to him, they remind him of their grandson. Gomez has been exposed as a liar and he's ahead of the other republicans? VB, the one of the stations regulars said that voters in MA almost always need to be told who to vote for. The unions will be out in full forces, probably for Lynch. I would prefer Lynch (dem) than Gomez if it comes down to the two of them. I can't stand Markey. I"m going to vote in Republican primary for Sullivan.

To this day, a lot of them don't. There are fair-sized chunks of Mexico where the language spoken 600 years ago still dominates. There was an interesting story in the LA Times a few years ago about the complications this creates for the county legal systems in SoCal. They often have situation where everything has to go through two or more levels of translation, with one of translators being a child. Such as English to Spanish to Nahuatl and back again.

You see this in day laborer gatherings, too. There will often be a small group that will only hire out together because most of them don't speak Spanish or English (or Portuguese if they came from really far south), and they depend on one bilingual member of the group to be foreman, handling all of the negotiations and and assigning tasks.

183 The State Park campsites in AZ had outhouses throughout the 1960s until by 1970 gradual upgrades transitioned through porta-potties (not an upgrade, too easy to tip over, but still sometimes the only facility) to showers and toilets. Those of us boomers whose families went camping for summer vacations remember the stench and even fear of falling in as older siblings would tease. My grandparents had a cabin on old family property up a mountain, so when we had reunions there, the outhouse was the only "restroom".

Then the old one seemed fine so I was going to return new one. Then old one stared with error messages so I set up the new Windows 8. There is so much junk to get rid of. I don't want Amazon, EBay and all the other stuff on my screen. I used it a few times and will have to figure it out. I have $21 in Dell Dollars. I might use those to get Office 365, I read I can install on this Mac and four other computers. I have old desktop upstairs that I stopped using in 2008. I want to use the $21. This Mac was the easiest computer I have ever set up. So many website are not compatible with Safari and I will not use Google, it's almost like you have to have a Windows computer to do some things. I should have ordered one with Windows 7 but the old one was dead the day I ordered it and I wanted one that could be shipped the next day. I have to go to work and vote on my way. Luckily for us the feds aren't actually    traveling up here;   it's a virtual visit.   They're staying in DC and we sent them all our evidentiary documentation via FTP, so if they have any questions they'll hit us up on the phone.  

 

Or should I say, they'll hit SOMEONE ELSE up on the phone,    as   I will be convieniently   out of town at the time and therefore of no help.  *cackle*   I had PLANNED to be here, when the visit was originally scheduled for 5/13-14.   But noooo,    the feds had to go and reschedule the damn thing to next Monday and Tuesday (5/6-7), and I'll be damned if I'm missing    going    to visit my sister in PA so I can sit here in NH and tell a couple of feds how to    download a zip file.

I will search for the story about trade offs and incentives, too lazy this morning. Think, food stamps, Aid to dependent children, subsidized public housing, free meals at school, free health care (medicaid), AND most of them put their kids on Social Security as disabled. 425 Yep, I've used outhouses quite a bit. And I also agree that properly installed septic tanks never need to be pumped. The problem is that the rules insist on larger than needed tanks, based on the number of rooms in a house. And people don't understand how to properly maintain septic tanks and dump chemicals like bleach into them.

There's been some movement towards allowing alternatives like composting toilets, but typically the laws require septic tanks and drain fields even if you put one in. Just another way that we are less free and don't really gain a lot for it. The old guy's outhouse should be grandfathered in for his lifetime, but we've got government bureaucrats involved now. It'll never happen.

Oh, trust me, I know.  I see them all the time.   But the tats on this guy SCREAM   "Lowell transplant" to me.   Lowell,    Haverhill,   Worcester -- they all find their way up here to NH   for the cheap booze and cigarettes,   and more than a few of them end up staying.   It's one of the reasons   I loathe travelling any further south than Hooksett!

If you had a different item doing the task and uninstalled it, the system will say there is nothing in the role but will eventually suggest you let it make Defender active.

One of those things I do away with when setting up a new machine for a client is the trialware from Symantec or McAfee that gives you three months and then wants money. The built-in stuff is fine. I've yet to see an infection on a Win8 system.

It's time we had a national conversation on welfare.  Now that we know that tax payer money went to support terrorists, its due time.  On Dec 19, Obama began his call for gun control action; lets replace the ideas of guns and gun owners with welfare and welfare recepients and see how a portion of his speech plays out:
