I agree in spirit but right now Obama is on the hot seat. Let him stay there a while. Let's not go making Republicans the focus of attention again because you just KNOW that this is what the MSM desperately wants to justify not spending time on Obama's scandals.

We don't have individual power over the IRS. If we try anything they will crush us with audits and nightmares.
But they cannot crush a federal judge. That is what we ought to focus on. All of these Tea Parties that were affected by these huge delays ought to be readying their lawsuits right now, claiming "disparate impact" or "civil rights violations" or whatever - I really don't care how solid the legal case is, I just want to see the IRS hauled before a federal judge and I want to see the news story of some federal judge (not some Republican politician) dressing down IRS lackeys, of warrants and subpoenas and IRS commissioners being frogmarched away.

Two NHS articles in the Daily Telegraph yesterday: Headline Page 1: "Wrong drugs given to 10,000 cancer patients". "...exposes an alarming subculture of poor care."
Article 2: "Warning of growing crisis as a Million Extra Patients go to Casualty (Emergency Room)" ... "Health service managers warn that the emergency care system could collapse within six months without significant action to relieve pressure on hospitals."
As someone said here, a look into the future of Obamacare. Congress must defund this.

Morning, ‘rons and ‘ronettes. Here’s a William Powell story:
When he was playing the butler Godfrey in the 1936 screwball comedy My Man Godfrey, he and director Gregory La Cava disagreed over how the part should be interpreted. La Cava’s constant refrain of “You haven’t found Godfrey yet!” irritated the usually unflappable Powell, so he arranged a sit-down chin wag with the director over a bottle of scotch. A few hours (and one or two bottles later), the two reached perfect agreement on the character of Godfrey.
The next morning, La Cava arrived at the studio with a terrific hangover, but determined to get in a good dayÂ’s work on the picture. Powell, however, was nowhere to be found. La Cava waited and waited; about an hour later a telegram signed by Powell was delivered. It read: WE MAY HAVE FOUND GODFREY LAST NIGHT BUT WE LOST POWELL. SEE YOU TOMORROW.
Hope you all have a wonderful day and a great weekend.

Every person who, under color of any statute, ordinance, regulation, [or] custom, . . . or causes to be subjected, any citizen of the United States . . . to the deprivation of any rights, privileges, or immunities secured by the Constitution and laws, shall be liable to the party injured in an action at law, suit in equity, or other proper proceeding for redress . . .
So you don't need to be a protected class. I think the protected class if to an action under the Voter's Rights Act, but that may also be another avenue to proceed under, since conservatives are a distinct minority these days.
1983 actions are brought all the time by inmates who seduce their corrections officers, or who get beat up by the arresting officer, etc.

The population difference between the UK (or Canada or Australia) and the USA is a major issue. They can't handle the volume they see nor can they, oft times, treat the expediently and well.
And we are going to pull this off?
As much as I l appreciated the care given to me by military doctors as a dependant, even in that small sub culture the bureaucracy of managed health care slowed things and impeded treatment. How are we going to pull this off on a Grand scale in a population of this magnitude. .. and one so very diverse?
---
I'm not even thinking about the difference in total numbers. I'm thinking more about the difference in population density / distribution.
Density is high along the northern end of the Atlantic seaboard. In the rest of the US? Not so much.

1. Increase costs short term
2. Bankrupt insurance companies
3. Government steps in to "save" the system with gov insurance becoming the sole insurance company.
4. Since gov is paying for "all" it becomes the owner of all healthcare;
5. Single payer - gov owner achieved. Nationalized healthcare is here.

What this sounds like is that they are having sternly worded letters put into their personnel records. This is what they do to avoid any kind of real change.
If we ever decide to get serious, it will actually look something like this in that it will start with the low level lackeys but they will be threatened with real consequences like RICO convictions and prison. When enough of them roll over on their supervisors, the supervisors get to contemplate a decade or two in PMITA prison. Eventually you roll up the conspiracy until you either get to the top or you find some stand up guy who refuses to roll over and you send him to PMITA prison for as long as possible.
An old sergeant told me about how when he was a young fellow in Korea, a US supply facility was surrounded with a chain link fence topped with barbed wire and flood lights yet Koreans were constantly breaking into it and stealing supplies. A nearby Turkish supply depot had a chalk line put down with one of those machines they use to mark soccer fields and a stick by the entrance with the head of the last Korean they had caught inside the line. According to the Turks, as long as the head on the stick was fresh, they were not too bothered by pilferage but if they let the head get too old, they would have problems.

A potentially damaging video of Toronto Mayor Rob Ford has been shopped around to a number of media outlets, including the website Gawker and The Toronto Star, both of which published details about the footage Thursday.

This came out a couple of days ago. Anyone looking at the e-mails weren't allowed to make copies only notes. The WH trotted out one e-mail that they claimed had been altered when it was more like a mis-transcription. They then used that as proof that the GOP had fabricated the entire thing. Liberals willfully obscured the facts and circumstances to make a big deal out of it.

I'm going to say this again, since the minority opinion in the case was Robert's written opinion, it is obvious that he was going to vote the other way, but that the Chicago thugs made him an offer he couldn't refuse. No supreme court judge - of his own free will - is going to write an opinion and then switch to the other side at the last instant. When you take the time to write an opinion - your analysis of the case is pretty complete.

Both of my parents (62 and 63 years-old) think it's fantastic that the government targets conservatives. If anything, they feel the IRS hasn't gone far enough. When I asked them what they thought of Nixon doing precisely the same thing, they reminded me that "Nixon was a criminal, President Obama is just trying to make things run smoothly."
It's been said over and over again, but liberals actively support tyranny and oppression as long as they believe they'll always be the ones doing the tyrannizing and oppression.
I do disagree with your presupposition that the Right will not engage in such tactics. We won't, both because morals and because the media will never allow it.

I must say, I am more than a bit taken aback that there are those who are defending the IRS targeting groups based on the group's political leanings. Either there's an expectation that the Right will never be back in power or an assumption that the Right will not engage in such tactics. Neither presumption is accurate.
I must vehemently disagree, Imperial One. Certainly the right (barring TFG going full Peron) will be back "in power," but as we have seen, all "power" means to the GOP is a chance to slurp at the trough and dole out goodies. And no, they will most certainly not "engage in such tactics."
It was pointed out on a thread yesterday that the Right believes in the rule of law. While it would be wonderful to RICO the shit out of the NAACP or SEIU, we won't do it. We don't play hardball. Or, rather, let me clarify - those who purport to be our leadership don't play hardball. If a cross-section from the Horde were suddenly thrust into Boehner or McConnell's shoes, then we'd have the left begging for mercy within a week. But we are not in charge. And the ones in charge are, at best, timid, ineffectual and afraid of the MFM, and, at worst, bullied and blackmailed when not being outright collaborators.
Ayers knew what he was talking about when he boasted of having millions of us in camps. He knew - he knows the left. They would kill us, given the chance.

That the Democrats are not negotiating in good faith should be obvious to anyone, but for some reason people whose names start with "Senator" or "Representative" don't seem to be able to grasp that concept. I don't know. And of course, all of my speculation is just that.
However, I think that there are quite a few senators, congressmen, judges and generals who seem to make inexplicable decisions and unless there is some sortof mind-control drug in the DC water, I think threats and intimidation are a reasonable conclusion.

The Internal Revenue Service, according to an inspector generalÂ’s report, was not reacting to political pressure or ideology when it singled out conservative groups for special scrutiny in evaluating requests for tax exemptions. It acted inappropriately because employees couldnÂ’t understand inadequate guidelines. The tragedy in Benghazi, Libya, never a scandal to begin with, has devolved into a turf-protection spat between government agencies, and the e-mail messages Republicans long demanded made clear that there was no White House cover-up.
The only example of true government overreach was the seizure of The Associated PressÂ’s telephone records, the latest episode in the Obama administrationÂ’s Javert-like obsession with leakers in its midst.

You were spot-on with your assesment of my folks. They really believe they're included in 'our betters.' It hasn't dawned on them that now that they're both retired, the contribute absolutely nothing to the system which provides their lifestyle.
They kicked in to that system, sure, but at disproportionately low levels given life expectency.

I still say at some point when Juan Williams is blathering away that Brit Hume will wander on camera, dressed in plaid pajamas with matching robe and slippers, glass of whisky in one hand and newspaper in the other, glasses perched on the end of his nose and then he will go over and smack Juan on the nose with the paper whilst saying "Bad! Bad!" You're welcome for that visual.

I think we're all pretty much in agreement that Reason isn't working. The hesitation is that none of us are really eager to try Force because of what that would mean.
Very true. Not to mention that force would mean taking out a lot on "our side," as well.
And so, the status quo continues.
I don't remember where I read it, but I read a description once of what it must have been like to be on the outskirts of empire as Rome declined. A gete would need repair, but it wouldn't happen. And year after year would go by, with the gate falling apart slowly, until one day it was smashed into bits by an invading horde. I think that's what will happen to us; we'll decline into a soft, paralyzing socialism, limping along under more and more taxes, wasteful spending and out-of-touch bureaucrats until we're violently shaken out or our torpor. But we'll be long dead before that happens.
Lord, what a depressing morning. May I have Your permission to take the Imperial Hussars out on a rampage and blow off some steam, Your Malevolence?

I refuse to discuss politics with them, because they are incapable of discussing it without resorting to insults. Brother has been union brainwashed, and sister is living in the dem world of the past.
They only get their news from MSM or union newsletters, and I have given up on them. I imagine WN's parents were either union, professors, or teachers. You just have to let it go, as some people will never see the truth staring them right in the face.

"You were talking earlier about kind of dismissing the Benghazi issue as one that's just political and the president recently said it's a sideshow," said Woodward. "But if you read through all these e-mails, you see that everyone in the government is saying, 'Oh, let's not tell the public that terrorists were involved, people connected to al Qaeda. Let's not tell the public that there were warnings.' I hate to show, this is one of the documents with the editing that one of the people in the state department said, 'Oh, let's not let these things out.' And I have to go back 40 years to Watergate when Nixon put out his edited transcripts to the conversations, and he personally went through them and said, 'Oh, let's not tell this, let's not show this.' I would not dismiss Benghazi. It's a very serious issue. As people keep saying, four people were killed. You look at the hydraulic pressure that was in the system to not tell the truth, and, you know, we use this term and the government uses this term, talking points. Talking points, as we know, are like legal briefs. They're an argument on one side. What we need to get rid of talking point and they need to put out statements or papers that are truth documents. Okay, this is all we know."

Uh... no we don't. Sounds to me like you agree with the left's 'kill grandpa' agenda.
"When you're young - if you're not liberal you have no heart. When you're old if you're not conservative you have no brain." statements still hold true.
People vote more conservative as they get older. Now you know why the left wants to kill grandpa.

No more.
Now, I grimly imagine the pain I could cause the enemies of this country when I shoved that much money right up their squeakhole. And yeah, I know it's not Soros money, but I could make a real dent locally and maybe even get myself #flaggedforaudit.

Perhaps we need to consider a third way. Trickery?
As much as it pains me to consider, maybe we need to out-moonbat the moonbats. Lobby for Conservatives to be a protected class. March on Washington to demand our rights. Made demands, be unreasonable, be the squeaky wheel. Aim their fire back at them.
Just brainstorming here.

The decision is significant because the Third Circuit panel adopted the reasoning of the D.C. Circuit in JanuaryÂ’s Noel Canning decision. But the implications go further. Mr. BeckerÂ’s term began earlier than the other recess appointees, thus invalidating hundreds of other decisions that the labor board made without a legal quorum.

Almost all of the government workers at the IRS are Democrats. That is why it was easy for them to tell Nixon to piss up a rope when he told them to target his enemies. It wasn't courage or integrity, it was purely partisan animus.
So it is an asymmetrical threat that calls for an asymmetrical response. The problem right now is that because of the malfeasance of these government workers, federal power is entirely in the hands of Democrat partisans and will remain that way until January 2017 (God, that is depressing to write). The only thing that will prevent this kind of thuggery from being a permanent feature of American life is to win the 2016 election and then exact a brutal vengeance on the Democrat government workers who participated in this perversion of democracy. By brutal vengeance, I mean that tens of thousands of them will have to be investigated, thousands of them will have to be fired, hundreds of them will have to be stripped of their pensions and dozens of them will have to go to prison. Fear of punishment is the only thing that will keep the Democrats who work in government from violating the law in order to help their side win elections.

I've not quite gotten to the 'fuck yourselves' point, but they know that the racist quips (about Justice Thomas, and how 'he just looks like a dumb black guy') evoke a pretty thermo-nuclear reaction from me.
It's fun to get my mom to admit that there are no reasons other than racism which explain political opposition to Obama. She raised a racist, QED. I've made her head explode a few times with that one.

The really rotten low hanging fruit in DC is the staffers and lobbyists--Senators and Representatives come and go, but, those people stay and dig in like bloated ticks. I have not completely finished watching "House of Cards" on Netflix, so, don't spoil it for me by giving me any scenes after Episode 9. With that said, it does an excellent job of delineating all the behind the scenes maneuverings and the impact the staffers relationships have with other staffers, lobbyists, and so forth. Especially how even useless scum with massive character flaws and corruption are propped up by their party. If you don't have Netflix, get it for the free trial month and watch HoC, it is worth it.

My suggestion? An oil import tax. Make it a NAFTA oil import tax. Oil imported from Canada or Mexico? No tax. Oil imported from Venezuala or the Middle East? Lots and lots of taxes. Also, remove the EPA regulations that make it financially prohibitive to convert vehicles to run on compressed natural gas. We've got so much of the stuff that the price has dropped and they aren't bothering to look for any more until we work off some of the glut.
