— Gabriel Malor Happy Wednesday.
The Alabama Senate gave final approval to the homebrew bill, which the governor is generally expected to sign. Alabama is the last state in the nation where homebrewing is illegal.
The Delaware Senate passed a gay marriage law, which the governor signed an hour later. Delaware is the 11th state to legalize gay marriage.
All of the proposed amendments to the Gang of 8 immigration bill are listed here. Some interesting ones that I happened to spot (there are probably loads of others, these are just the one I spotted pretty much randomly):
- Cruz 3: To provide that no person who has previously been will fully present in the United States while not in lawful status shall be eligible for United States citizenship. (In addition to making all illegal aliens granted amnesty ineligible to naturalize, this would make citizenship unattainable for many individuals who are granted asylum and all individuals who are granted cancellation of removal for nonpermanent residents).
- Sessions 34: To clarify that this Act does not preempt any State or local criminal law. (This would undo the Supreme Court's decision preempting Arizona's -- and likely other states' -- immigration enforcement laws.)
- Hatch 3: To collect a DNA sample from each adult alien applying for registered provisional immigrant status for comparison against the Combined DNA Index System of the Federal Bureau of Investigation.
- Grassley 3: To require border security measures along the Northern border of the United States. (Grassley has a couple amendments to spend on border security along both borders.)
- Graham 1: To provide for termination of asylum or refugee status in cases of country return. (With an exception for "good cause." Likely a reaction to the Tsarnaevs.)
- Lee 7: To modify the physical presence requirement for application for registered provisional immigrant status. (He backs it up to December 31, 2009, instead of December 31, 2011.)
Sen. Grassley proposed the most amendments (77). Sen. Sessions came in second place with 49. Obviously, a lot of these aren't gonna make it into the bill.

[I[Republican lawmakers [u]hounding the Obama administration for months over unanswered questions on the Benghazi attack will have their moment, on Wednesday, to demonstrate whether the internal response amounted to a cover-up -- as whistle-blowers give long-awaited testimony expected to challenge the White House's version of events.
Republicans “hounded” the poor Dems. So was it a cover-up? No, it was blatant mismanagement by both Hillary and Obama after which Hillary lied to Congress and committed perjury. If this were a Republican admin the press would be calling for Hillary to be fired and prosecuted and Obama impeached.
And the Dems response? This is old news. And Hillary should be fired and prosecuted. But she wonÂ’t, she is a Democrat and will be the next runner for President for their Party. This will wash off her back like water off a goose.

What???

Of some interest as we merry Rochambeau each other over amnesty in the coming weeks, USC has released "Undocumented Californians, Immigration Reform, and Our Future Together".
Pretty much what you would expect, Immigrants Yay!, but there's some useful information in there on the methodologies used to derive estimates of the numbers of illegals and their demographics.
I'd question their estimate for California: 2.6 million for the entire state? 2.6 million between the 101 and the 118 maybe. But it can serve as a starting point as we start tossing numbers at each other.

Morning, ‘rons and ‘ronettes. Thanks for the morning briefing, Gabe and Vic. The weather was finally warm enough for me to saddle up the Harley and ride in this morning, so knowing I can ride this afternoon should be enough to keep my emotions on a fairly even keel today. I can have a heart attack about the Benghazi hearings tomorrow. I hope. Anyway. . .
I know I mentioned that silent screen heartthrob Rudolph Valentino – who was a typical Italian, very touchy about slights to his masculinity – once sparred with Jack Dempsey. The prizefighter was impressed with the Latin Lover, declaring that Valentino “packed a he-man punch.”
But Frank “Buck” O’Neil, the boxing writer for the New York Evening Journal didn’t believe it, thinking Dempsey was just taking part in a publicity stunt. So he telephoned George Ullman, Valentino’s press agent. “I don’t believe Valentino can really fight,” O’Neil said, “and I’d like to take him on in a friendly bout to prove it. If Valentino is willing to meet me,” O’Neil finished slyly, “I’ll guarantee not to hurt him.”
When Valentino heard about the challenge, he accepted. The two men met on the roof garden of New YorkÂ’s Ambassador Hotel, sparred lightly for a while, then retired to their corners. When they came out, both of them exchanged a few quick, sharp blows to the chin, then OÂ’Neil aimed a roundhouse right at ValentinoÂ’s jaw. The actor ducked the blow, then landed a solid punch to the side of OÂ’NeilÂ’s head, sending the writer sprawling on the floor.
Valentino helped O’Neil up and the two of them sparred for two more rounds before calling it quits. “I was wrong about you, Rudy,” O’Neil admitted afterward as the two shared drinks. “That punch of yours that knocked me down felt like a mule had kicked me. The next time Jack Dempsey tells me something, I’m going to believe him!”
Valentino was pleased. But the pleasure would be short-lived. He had been suffering abdominal pains for some time, but had refused to see a doctor. Despite increasing agony, he insisted on traveling to Atlantic City for a personal appearance connected with his last movie, The Son of the Sheik. Not long after, his appendix burst. In those pre-antibiotic days, that was a death sentence.
Rodolfo Alfonso Raffaello Pierre Filibert Guglielmi di Valentina DÂ’Antonguolla died on August 23, 1926. He was thirty-one years old.
Hope you all have a wonderful day.

I was assured here that once a bill was presented, it was cast in stone - each and every word skillfully chosen to fool the public and slip pro-amnesty provisions past unwitting lawmakers.

Peasants' Revolt of 1381. The problem was, Richard tricked them. I'm just at the point of a Thirty Years' War complete defenestration of DC.
We read that bit about Barry's "wife" smirking that the White House gardens were still open because you could see through the gates. She might as well have been channeling Richard: "villeins ye are and villeins ye shall remain!"

We never got comp time (exempt) or overtime. I checked on this in the actual labor law. There is no such ting as "comp time". What it is is a "salaried employee" is paid by the month for a job. When a company breaks that down to weekly paychecks he is getting the equivalent of 40 hours pay no matter what hours he works.
So if you work 50 hours you get 40 hours pay, if you work 30 hours you get 50 hours pay. I actually saw this proven on one occasion. An exempt employee (engineer) was give a week off without pay for sleeping on the job. He filed a complaint. The lawyers came down from the home office and told the bosses "no can do" he is Act-II exempt. They said you can do nothing or you can fire him but you can't cut pay.
But he could not resist screwing up again and he was fired the next time.

Sanford may have already effectively declared he's running in 2014. Says he'll term limit himself to 12 years, but whether he's including his previous terms or restarting the clock, who knows. He's broken that promise repeatedly already.
So, he'll have to be winkled out. Which was one of the arguments for hoping C-B won, because she would be neutered in this Congress and bounced in the next election.
Oh well....

Tell me why we should change our beliefs at the behest of 50-100 whining middle-of-the-road slug-type people whose opinions are based solely on what they think will get them on TV?
Why do people like Roger Stone, Karl Rove, Steve Schmidt and others have such influence? They collect cash no matter who is in office, and mainly push bad policy because they are too concerned with how the Beltway views them.
If Rubio was so smart, he would have acted more like Ted Cruz, who is not necessarily my choice but at least represents the people of his state and has shown some courage. Same with Rand Paul.
That is my opinion. Take it for what it's worth.

"Fags?"
Defending the tax code isn't quite the same as agreeing with it. I think the tax code is a monstrosity and I want it reduced to a one page flyer: if you have $x in net income, you pay y%.
But I can also recognize that the income tax is authorized by the general taxing power granted to the Congress by the Constitution, even absent the 16th Amendment. In other words, a 16A repeal wouldn't eliminate the income tax but would instead create an apportionment requirement on income earned from property (rents, dividends, etc).
There's room for a political beef with what the income tax has become but that doesn't mean saying the tax itself is valid means one is anti-Liberty.

Kinda. The tribes wanted full citizenship, the Romans wouldn't give them that but used them to fight their wars. The traditional reward for a foreign-born soldier was citizenship though so it was a legit bitch on the tribe's part.
Only one factor of many. I think a bigger one was when the popular vote was superceded by mobs and violence. We're getting there too.

I agree this country should enforce fully the laws that are currently on the books. This will cause those here illegally from Mexico to go home. However once they go home, there goes a major cash flow that props Mexico up and ends the safety valve that the exodus gives Mexico's decrepit and corrupt system of government.
So when that government in Mexico finally falls apart because of the aforementioned, I prefer a defensible southern border. Unless you truly relish bandits like Pancho Villa once again raiding across the Rio Grande like in 1916. Oh wait, because we have no fence the southern states are already suffering this problem. Along with murders.
So lets build that fence.

Former Vice President Dick Cheney criticized the Obama administration on Tuesday for its handling of the September 11, 2012 terror attack on the U.S. Consulate in Benghazi, Libya, calling it 'a failure of leadership.' Cheney said U.S. leaders should have been better prepared for violence on the anniversary of the al-Qaeda attacks on the World Trade Center and the Pentagon in 2001.
'They should have been ready before anything ever happened,' Cheney told MailOnline exclusively during a party in Georgetown celebrating the launch of a new book by former Secretary of Defense Donald Rumsfeld.
'I mean, it's North Africa - Libya, where they've already had major problems,' Cheney said. 'You know that al-Qaeda is operating there, and you have some of the other al-Qaeda-affiliated groups there like Ansar al-Sharia and others.

Huh.
Reading an article about how griffin vultures in europe are being starved because the gov't ordered carcases burnt to avoid diseases, so the vultures adapted and are now hunting live animals like hawks do. Except they gang up and attack cows or sheep.
I suppose there's a metaphor to be had.

'I think what dominated the way they were thinking about this thing is - they wanted to be able to say, "We got bin Laden. Problem solved",' Cheney told MailOnline.
'
And it was shortly before the election, and you know: a big crisis with al-Qaeda attacking embassies? They were hoping that they could avoid that. It was a bit of a reach.'
He added that the Bush administration would have handled things differently, even if they had been caught unprepared.
'I've heard senior officials in the Obama administration say, "well, we didn't know what we'd be sending them into, so we didn't send 'em." Hogwash!' Cheney exclaimed. 'Those guys train for that. They're damned good at it.'
He also called the House Republicans' interim report, issued last month, 'a terrible indictment of how fouled up we were.'

The trick to defeating all but Mathias Rust is to build two fences. About 100 to 200ft between them. First one can be chain link and concertina to deter the impulse illegal. Second interior one is of concrete. About 15ft tall, foundations extending 15ft down into the earth, and thickness of the reinforced concrete 4ft or more. Wire the no-mans land with sensors. About halfway between the fences and buried about 12 ft down a submerged moat filled with pea gravel.

What wasn't so glorious was when the guy's boss heard about it from his own crew, and made him call me up and tell me his life story, and how he had a son about my age, et cetera, et cetera. That was just plain awkward. >_>

Some areas of the south it would be impossible to build such, where the mountains get rugged, but that would be a design plus. Would channelize the attempted inflow to known ingress points that would deter the faint of heart. Thus can better manage Border Patrol resources.
Another thing that would have to happen would be to expand the border crossing inspection stations. Plus fortify them more and allocate some of the agents who are no longer required to patrol remote stretches to those border crossings.

Border for sure. I am deeply sympathetic to the people fleeing a third world hellhole, but the bloody fact is that they are being used by the powers that be in both America and Mexico to continue the very processes that are making them flee.
Nothing gets fixed with the status quo. I feel terrible for the folks who only want to start a new life here, skilled or unskilled (it doesn't matter to me), but things cannot continue as they are. Borders must be enforced, immigration must be normalized, and if we're going to call it a "War" on drugs, I would greatly appreciate some actual firepower being brought to bear on the kingpins. >_> Not quite a non sequitur there - I believe the only way to save Mexico is to utterly destroy the cartels.

1. Fingerprint/ID everyone entering.
2. Require anyone entering the country to post a bond. Bond is provided by private companies that can set bond amount based on likelihood of not returning. (Also require medical and liability insurance. You go to jail or get sick, the taxpayer isn't paying for it.)
3. Anyone not exiting at specified time is immediately posted for bounty with 75% of bond going towards anyone apprehending said fugitive.
4. If number of fugitives from a specific country reaches over certain number (say 1,000). No more visas are issued until half that number are found and returned.
For the existing ones, I would just start placing bounties on them.

And yet the commies were able to master the technology of effective fence building along the border of East Germany 50 years ago. Maybe there are some of them still around that we can hire as consultants.
I am not saying that a fence is the most effective border enforcement measure that can be taken, but it is something they can't lie about. If they build a fence from Brownsville to San Ysidro, you can drive along its entire length on your vacation or you can fly along it from the Gulf Coast to the Pacific to confirm that it is there and that there are no gaps. And while you may not make such a trip personally, there are people who will and they will put their pictures on the internet.

Which it can't, but he won't stand up for it. So basically, he's a pussy.
But true respect in academia comes, as it always has, from hating Jews, so maybe he can be a Great Physicist now.

Second link should do very nicely. Short skirt, tall boots. Freakin' bingo. (*'-') RWC should be back up to snuff in no time flat.
@367, aye, Hawking was playing poker with Einstein, Newton, and Data.
The funny thing is, he didn't even deserve to be at the table with Data. >.>

Any word on Gosnell?

Yeah. If you have a gruesome baby killing factory, you didn't build that! Planned Parenthood and "Pro-Choice" policies made that happen.

Yep. He's also appeared on The Big Bang Theory. His appearance on The Next Generation was playing poker with Data and some other of histories great minds. Supposedly when he was touring the set and went by the warp core he said "I'm working on that"

It's a simple and excellent idea, and therefore Congress shall never go for it. -_-"
Well, I suppose it depends on what congressional district the panels were being manufactured in. I'll bet that politicians in Ohio or Wisconsin would be a lot more enthusiastic about a border fence if somebody in their district got a contract.
The "L" shaped panels that the last version of the Berlin Wall used were essentially copied by the Israelis when they built their fence. They might not stand up to a tank, but they will stop any civilian vehicle except maybe one of those giant trucks they use in open pit mines.

The left's retort about Benghazi before the whistleblowers was always, ' we have answered all the questions, besides the Republicans are just mad because Obama killed Osama Bin Laden"
Now they don't say the first part as much but they always throw in the 'killed Osama Bin Laden' bit.
What annoys me is that as much as they lied about the facts of Benghazi is they lied just as much about the facts of Osama Bin Laden and the public will never know. The air is so saturated with Obama lies and fuckups that we are forced to choose our battles at the expense of the truth in other matters. Same thing occured with the Clinton administration.
