Happy Thursday.

Retiring IRS officer will testify today that top IRS officials in Washinton, D.C. oversaw the conservative targeting program.

Bill Maher was booed on CBS' Late Show for his "jokes" about the Zimmerman verdict.

A good read by Allah and Mary Katherine Ham about D.C. journos getting fussed that they were upstaged by a 16 year-old intern.

Australia's two major parties both want to repeal a carbon tax created just last year. Turns out, that shit's not great for your economy.

2 Good Morning Morons.  Today is Thursday, July 18, 2013.  On this day one year ago today I posted this outrage being conducted by officials in the FDA.

http://tinyurl.com/7ch98mm

Yes, a harbinger of things to come that were already going on in the Obmanite criminal empire and we didnÂ’t know about it then.  So what happened with all the Grassley hoopla and investigations into the FDA spying?  The worst thing I could find this morning was that the employees sued.   I could find no evidence of any congressional sanction, any criminal charges, nor even the outcome of the civil suit.  This is why I donÂ’t think anything will come of all the crap we have going on now even though it is much worse than this FDA scandal.

3 House approves the individual mandate delays in Obamacare.  It will now die in the Senate.  If they are not willing to grow some balls and defund government agencies in separate spending bills as they promised in the 2010 campaign all this crap is nothing more than political smoke blown up our asses.

6 Tragedy at NC swimming pool. Overhead electric line snaps, falls into the parking lot and electrocutes an 11 year old girl in the swimming pool when she grabbed the ladder to climb out as lifeguards were telling them to get out of the water. It is unknown how the current was transmitted from the parking lot to the swimming pool.  I suspect wiring to pool lights but by code those should have been protected by ground fault breakers.  Even in my non-code State my pool had those.  Now the big fight will be who gets sued, the people who owned the pool, the people who built the pool, or the electric company.

Morning, all you creepy-ass crackas.  HereÂ’s a story from writer Ben HechtÂ’s 1954 memoir A Child of the Century:

Hecht was working on the script of the 1932 Paul Muni movie Scarface when an overzealous press agent put out the story that the film was going to be a biographical study of Al Capone.*

As you might expect, a couple of Big AlÂ’s men showed up at HechtÂ’s hotel fairly soon after, guns bulging in their coats.  “We hear youÂ’re writing stuff about Al,” they told Hecht, who immediately tried to set them straight.  “God, no,” he protested.  “I donÂ’t even know Al.”  Hecht went on to tell the gunsels that, though heÂ’d lived in Chicago, heÂ’d left town before Al became big.  “I knew Jim Colosimo pretty well,” he went on, trying to drop some names that would offer him protection, “and Mossie Enwright and Pete Gentleman.”

“Did you know Deanie?” one of the gunmen asked.  “Deanie OÂ’Bannion?” Hecht answered.  “Sure.  I used to ride around with him in his flivver.”  The mobsters nodded in agreement.  “OK. WeÂ’ll tell Al the stuff you wrote is about them other guys.”

As Hecht was showing them out, they stopped at the door.  “Hey – if you ainÂ’t writing about Al, whyÂ’s the thing called Scarface ?  EverybodyÂ’ll think itÂ’s him.”

“ThatÂ’s the reason,” the rattled writer told them.  “Al is one of the most famous and fascinating men of our time.  If we call the movie Scarface , everybody will want to see it, figuring itÂ’s about Al.  ThatÂ’s part of the racket we call showmanship.” **

The Chicago visitors left, satisfied, and Hecht – after a long slug of hooch – took a deep breath and went back to work.

This story really doesnÂ’t lend itself to cheesecake.  I was going to tell you about Lana Turner during the filming of The Merry Widow, during which she gasped, after spending several hours in hre specially created corselette, “I tell you, the merry widow had to be created by a man.  No woman would do this to another woman.”  But I couldnÂ’t find a good picture of her in the thing.  So hereÂ’s a luscious picture of Turner, draped in fur and ready for the taking:

http://tinyurl.com/mq3pcss

And, since IÂ’ve got to go to a meeting and wonÂ’t be back for another hour or so, how about Anita Morris in her lace body stocking from the musical Nine?

http://tinyurl.com/pfzmrgl

Hope you all have a wonderful day.

*though Scarface really isnÂ’t about Capone per se, many of the events in the film are near recreations of the Chicago gang wars of the 1920s, including the murder of  Dean OÂ’Bannion and the Saint ValentineÂ’s Day Massacre.

**speaking of ‘showmanshipÂ’ - just as in The Public Enemy, when live ammunition was used during a James Cagney shootout, live ammunition was used during the filming of Scarface.  Comedian Harold LloydÂ’s brother Gaylord lost an eye during a visit to the set when he was accidentally hit.

We all should have seen this coming when somebody with "community organizer" on his resume was elected POTUS.

111 Regarding the Zimmerman trial: We have heard the denouncementsof the "white man's law". I think in Houston we saw what one variant of the "black man's law" would be---setting up roadblocks and beating up women trying to take children with life-threatening issues to hospitals, because someone has not been delivered to them for "justice". This used to be a variant of the "white man's law" too--the law of the lynch mob. But it is no longer. The law has spoken, and refuses to convict a man when the evidence is not there. Hollywood loves to pride itself on its love of the best of classic liberalism. Where is the writer who will pen the new "Oxbow Incident", the new "12 Angry Men", a new "The Murder of Mary Phagan"? Where is the director who will make it? Where are the stars who will act in it? No where, most likely. The best of classic liberalism will be defended elsewhere, because those who purport to be the Thomas Mores of our age, the great thinkers, the great sages, folks of the most exquisite nobleness of mind, are anything but.

A video that was posted on the Internet July 12 and translated by the Middle East Media Research Institute (MEMRI), shows Al-Hammouri inciting the crowd in the Old City with calls to conquer and destroy the enemies of the “Nation of Islam.” “We warn you, oh America: Take your hands off the Muslims. You have wreaked havoc in Syria, and before that, in Afghanistan and in Iraq, and now in Egypt,” shouted the cleric to the enthusiastic replies of the crowd. “Who do you think we are, America? We are the nation of Islam — a giant and mighty nation, which extends from east to west. Soon, we will teach you a political and military lesson, Allah willing. Allah Akbar. All glory to Allah.” Hey I got an idea: Let's give em a State? As kerry continues to try and pressure Israel to do just that?

We found out it happened to her because she valet parked her car. Those are the only cars that get inspected. So if security feels it is necessary to search some cars in the name of safety, why not search all of them? Laurie Iacuzza walked to her waiting car at the Greater Rochester International Airport after returning from a trip and that's when she found it -- a notice saying her car was inspected after she left for her flight. She said, “I was furious. They never mentioned it to me when I booked the valet or when I picked up the car or when I dropped it off.” I wonder if I tip then a few bucks if they might clean my car?

157 As a commentator on "The Other McCain" (Good Stuff) notes about Angela Corey: Angela Corey should be disbarred. She bypassed a grand jury, brought the charges herself, overcharged him and failed to provide an honest evaluation of the strengths and weaknesses of her case to the judge who allowed her to proceed with the case. Angela Corey then withheld evidence from the defense team even though that is against the law. After that was exposed, she fired the IT professional because he did not lie in court to protect her but exposed her misconduct. Angela Corey should be disbarred for saying what she said about Zimmerman after he was found not guilty. She called him a murderer even though the Judicial System found him not guilty.

I'm sceptical that there'll be much change. Rudd's less shitty than Gillard, but that's only an amount of shit. A bucket of shit is less shitty than a tub of shit. Knowing Labor, theyll talk a big game about it before the election, then just leave the staus quo as is, afterward. It would require the coalition to trounce both the reds and the greens to have the clout to do something. Even then, it's not a lock. From what I recall, the thing was constructed to incur huge costs if repealed. Could be wrong, but I think it was made with tripwires by the Greens so you couldn't touch it without losing a leg or two.

175 It's not like it's one thing with Angela Corey. The only thing that would keep her in her job, or even keep her law license, would be fear on the part of the people who are supposed to rein her in. Her suppression of evidence and toxic management style would seem to be setting up the prosecutor's office for a future of unethical, even illegal, activity, appeals, and quite probably a torrent of lawsuits. She's a liability to the state, so she should certainly lose her job, as well as her livelihood.

182 One of President Barack Obama’s new National Labor Relations Board nominees dedicated her career at the AFL-CIO to doing away with secret ballots in labor elections—a tactic critics say would make it easier to unionize and expose employees to intimidation. Nancy Schiffer spent nearly three decades as a union attorney in a career that took her from Detroit’s United Auto Workers to associate general counsel at the AFL-CIO, a Democratic power broker that spent $30 million on the 2012 election. Schiffer took the lead in many unionization efforts across the country and has spent the past few years trying to do away with the secret ballot in union elections. “[Card check] is needed to address a severe violation of human rights,” she testified to the House Education and Workforce Committee in 2004. Schiffer has described the workplace as “an inherently coercive environment” that mandates public elections for unions. Such an attitude caused alarm among some labor experts, including the Heritage Foundation’s James Sherk. “She’s been put on the board so that unions can more easily organize,” he said. “They’re taking someone from the AFL-CIO; there’s no pretense of impartiality in this nomination.” Hell of a compromise there rino's. You'd be surprised at what kind of shit gets into loose or bagged tea. That bacteria commonly found in water? I think not. Otherwise, everyone that drank water would be sick. ---- I saw a study somewhere where they went around taking samples of restaurant iced tea, and quite a large number of them had bacteria comparable to having a log of shit floating in the giant container of iced tea. I am sure there are some people who fall outside the standards and are not high credit risks. But they are the exception, not the rule.

The problem comes when we quickly run out of those people and start (once again) lending to people who are not. In the interest of "fairness" or to help people with their "right" to own a home. Or some other nice sounding platitude that is fallacy and ends in economic disaster.

236 Democrat, Republican, whatever. Different sides of the same coin now.

They are Statists both.

It's now Statists versus Taxpayers. By virtue of the internet, we can communicate real time with each other across all borders and we now analyze, know, and understand the game being played against us. National parties are the death of this nation as vote trading and handouts permit disingenuous shows of alliances with the voters at home. Almost all of government action is a series of lies. The Federal government is absolutely corrupted.

So put me in with the Fuckitol crowd. If amnesty passes I'm going to screw over the GOP. It won't keep its perks with my help after screwing me. Might as well wipe it out ASAP and get to the building of new representation wherein corruption isn't rewarded quite so boldly for a while.

270 Tragedy at NC swimming pool. Now the big fight will be who gets sued, the people who owned the pool, the people who built the pool, or the electric company.

http://tinyurl.com/k9f3g98

Most likely the current came from the earth itself.  The swimming pool is essentially a big Leyden jar which was being charged and discharged 60 times per second by the high voltage wire touching the ground in the parking lot. The girl became part of that charging circuit when she touched the ladder, and some of the current passed through her.

Most people killed by lightning are not killed by a direct strike; the current in the earth (which is not a perfect conductor) causes a voltage drop across the ground - so that there is a potential difference between the person's feet and current flows through the person from one foot through the body and out the other foot subjecting the heart to an electric shock. It takes only a few thousandths of ampere through the heart to electrocute someone.

That is: by assuming that smoking was the *cause* of cancer, they missed probably several decades of research into actual causes of cancer.

Posted by: AllenG (Dedicated Tenther) - Passing through Rage & Out the Other Side at July 18, 2013 04:57 AM (/PCJa)

276 171 Of course we have to pander. Understand the "logic" here. We're told the demographics are changing. Well, yeah, they're changing because you're letting in untold millions upon millions of demographic changers. Funny how that works. - Right. The more the politicians tip things against whites, the more they say you can't build a winning coalition on whites and you have to go after non-white votes by pushing for more mass immigration, affirmative action, and other measures that further reduce whites as a share of the population and absolutely. It's an accelerating vicious cycle. If white people go along with this, we'll wind up extinct. There is a short term penalty for defying the system because it's harsh on dissidents, but in the long run forced extinction already is the maximum penalty. I keep saying this is genocide, because it is. It's the elimination of whites as an identifiable group, by policy, with or without violence. And the thing about genocide is, there is no smart or moral way to go along with your own genocide. All rhetorical moves that basically come down to posing as a super-smart intellectual who is above such petty issues fail because of the simple reality that genocide should be unacceptable. I don't want to hear any more from geniuses who think that race doesn't matter and their abstractions are everything. It's not enough for mildly reasonable white people to say race doesn't matter. For that to be anything other than unconditional surrender and submission to genocide, all the anti-whites in the universities, the media, the law and politics have to agree that "the war is over". And they never do. On the contrary, they keep pushing for more and more stuff that - taken all together - will have the effect of getting rid of white people. I would like it very much of there was no racial conflict, which by the way is what the "reformers" of the 1960s promised. But that doesn't happen. And white people can't just keep making concessions all the way to the ash-heap of history. We are not the only race that can be removed from the world without anything of value being lost. We are human too and have the same right to resist our removal from history that every other race and group has.

A few are good, we know who they are but last night I read RS email about just how long those people have been in DC, McConnell has been there for 29 years. Some are even longer. If they do get fired, theyÕll stay in DC. We have to get rid of Graham. McCain is now the dems best friend. He was the worse choice in 2008. I held my nose to vote for him then. McCain and Huckabee were both screwing Romney in 2008. I remember one caucus where Huckabee and Romney were tied and McCain came out and told them to give his votes to Huckabee. Romney was the best one in the 2008 field, except for Duncan Hunter. Duncan had no chance. We have to rid DC of the people that have been there for decades.

282 Wait. The Florida Bar can't take the license away from a corrupt attorney? WTF is THAT about? What's their fucking purpose if they don't do that? Posted by: Niedermeyer's Dead Horse at July 18, 2013 08:41 AM (jjvz+) There is actually a tiny bit of reason behind the rule. It's an inmate lawfare strategy to file multiple ethic complaints against the prosecutors in order to throw a monkey into the wrench. Hell, certain people used that strategy against Patterico out in LA for other nefarious purposes, iirc. So based on what the little reading I've done on this, the Florida compromise is that the complaints can be filed but won't be investigated until after the person is out of the office. It's not the ideal solution because it means that state attorneys are now effectively immune from any type of complaint but it isn't solely a crony deal. Primarily, sure, not not solely. I'm not really sure what the answer to it is because there needs to be some way to check such actions while still allowing people who aren't complete tyrannical losers from being improperly accused. All that being said, if Corey is such a tremendous trial lawyer, why didn't she try the case herself?

I wish we'd known back when Rick Scott appointed her to the Zimmerman case what an evil little witch she is. 315 So... thought experiment. I'm thinking about when my CHL finally arrives (possibly as early as today!) and the fact I'll finally be a Citizen in Fact as well as in Name (my belief is the difference between a citizen and a subject is the ability to defend one's self (from criminals or the government) with violence). That got me thinking about Heinlein's distinction between a Civilian and a Citizen in Starship Troopers- A Citizen wields the Sovereign Franchise because he has chosen to put the safety and security of society above his own. Which made me wonder- are Civilians (in Heinlein's SST world) Subjects, or are they more accurately "Second Class Citizens?" What does the Horde think?

So the same kind of unthinking  reluctance to use independent judgement  that gets kids suspended from school for having a pop-tart chewed into the shape of a gun has complaints just ignored until after the term of office.

There has to be a middle ground somewhere - presumably the bar is staffed by thinking human beings (albeit lawyers) who can make judgement calls as to whether a complaint meets a particular standard.  And if some attorney somewhere wants to sandbag the prosecutor with frivolous complaints, I can't see why that kind of behavior can't be slapped down by the bar as well.

We need to flush the institutional memory as it's practitioners have actually become if not incompetent, tyrannical. Some Silicon Valley firms have those.

At one point I was forwarded a snapshot taken by someone working for Cisco.

It was a note from Cisco security taped to the door of the shower area, saying, in several discreet circumlocutions, "Please stop shitting in the employee showers."

The Third World H-1Bs brought in by Cisco management were apparently doing just that. Leaving big deuces right there by the drain.

Never saw that myself but that would have been an instant end to any thought of ever showering on company premises ever again. Noooooooooooo thanks.

Mark Levin made the same point yesterday.  The turnover in Congress is lower than that in the House of Lords or the Soviet Politburo.

Someone upthread said the only way to get these fuckers to notice us is a million people in DC.  I agree - except, a million people with firearms.  Go nito every office and herd them all out at gunpoint; senators, reps, staffers, secretaries, cooks and bottle washers.  Given them five minutes to clean out their desks.  Then tell them, "go home.  You are not to return here.  If you do, we will not guarantee your safety."  Then pull 500-odd names out of a hat.

The bike to work thing pisses me off, too.  First off because, helloooo, I live a twenty minute drive from my job, as do most people who live in this state.  I know people who commute 90mins a day to Boston, for    cripes sake.   Biking isn't an option.

Then there's teh fact that I'm sick to death of having to drive with     lycra clad asses in my face.   It's hard enough to keep traffic flowing through narrow streets that were built back in the frigging colonial days without having to also maneuver around wannabe   Tour de Francers in their almond-shape helmets and bright yellow racing gear    who think that biking to their job at The Pottery Barn makes them Cool and With It.

And the shower thing is especially aggravating to me.  I've worked in exactly one place that had an on-site shower, and that was because    the building housed the state's     Public Health Department.   This meant that if there were an outbreak or other public health emergency, it stood to reason that lots of people would be forced to stay in the building overnight and for many days on end.   Having to deal with a potential outbreak of    swine flu, avian flu, EEE, West Nile, whooping cough, diptheria, what have you is bad enough without having to deal with that outbreak while surrounded by smelly people with greasy hair.
